Question: What are the best online universities that offer masters degrees? I would like to get an online masters degree in marketing. What are the best online universities? Are there any reputable conventional Universities that offer full degrees online? Harvard offers online courses, some of which could be counted towards a masters degree, but does not offer a full degree online.
I am not a residence of the US and not able to travel to attend regular courses but I am able to travel for tests.
I guess I'm looking for a good marketing masters program from a reputable university.
Answer: I am not aware of a top school that offers an online masters degree specifically in marketing. However, you may be able to get a degree in a closely related field depending on what area of marketing you want to pursue. So this answer is going to be geared toward universities with an excellent reputation.
Harvard's Extension School has some programs that only require that you take a single class in person. If you plan your course work carefully, you can take a summer session class and only have to be in Cambridge for 8 weeks. So the amount of time you'd need to be in the US would be minimal. If you can travel for tests, this might work out for you. Also, Harvard's Extension School seems to have some of the lowest tuition of any reputable online school, so you might actually come out ahead financially over some of the other options. Generally you should expect to spend about $18,000 to $20,000 on tuition.
Here is some information about the Harvard Extension School experience:
http://www.productivity501.com/harvard-masters-degree/6463/
Another place you might look is Penn State. Many of their programs require some type of residency. The MBA program requires you to come for two week long classes. Still, if you can travel for tests, this is probably doable. The cost will probably be in the $20,000 to $60,000 range depending on what classes you take.

Two other places you might check:
http://scpd.stanford.edu/
http://www.cvn.columbia.edu/
They are both significantly more expensive than Harvard or Penn State. Stanford may require that you have a corporate sponsor. Columbia looks like their program may be possible without any travel at all.
Good luck!
Question: good Online colleges and age you can start them? I have a few questions and to anyone who answers thanks i really apreciate it cause i really need to know ....
1) Can you go to an online college with a ged?
2) What are some good online colleges that don't scam you?
3) How much does it cost?
4) At what age can you start online college? Can you start before the age of 18 as long as your still paying?
Answer: Yes you can go to an online college with a GED, and in fact many campus colleges will accept a GED, just don't expect to go to an Ivy League school.
Axia College of University of Phoenix is a decent one, nice online system and fairly easy to use. Also Devry is another good one, I know both have mixed reviews but my friend graduated from Devry (he did a mix of online and campus courses) and he had a 60k job out the door. He took Computer Engineering of some sort, I can't remember the exact title it has.
It costs a lot, and it will vary based on a lot of things. First, if you need a new computer or laptop to run the required software. The software itself might cost you as well, and of course the school tuition costs a good chunk. Expect to pay more for online schooling then offline, and expect it to be around 25k-50k for an associates.
You can start at the age any other college would take you, 18. Though you might be able to get in earlier if you have your GED, but I wouldn't suggest it as your odds of getting grants at that age or almost nil.
Final note, online college is a lot tougher then a campus one as you are forced to push yourself. Your teachers won't care in most cases if you turn in assignments or not, and thus if you don't pay attention you'll fail out.
I am working on my Associates and using an online college, and plan to do it again for my BS. It has been interesting, fun and at times over whelming just like any college. Just expect to force your self to work, your assignments will have "X Day Due" date and then it's up to you to get it done.

Question: Do online businesses have to pay federal taxes? I have an online business that does not have employees (except myself). Do i have to pay federal taxes? Does signing up for a federal tax ID begin the stages where I have to pay taxes? We are a online reseller of bags in California.
Thanks.
Answer: Yes, but it might be helpful to clarify what kind of taxes.
It sounds like you are a sole proprietor, that you haven't incorporated. If not, then any income earned by you (receipts less deductible expenses) will be taxed as income on your personal tax return. Also, you will have to pay your portion of medicare and social security taxes using schedule SE (which goes along with your personal return).
IF you have incorporated your business, then it is a little different. Depending on the organization, you will either pay the tax at corporate level or it will be passed down as income to you (which will be taxed just like my example above). If this is the scenario, then I'd consult a CPA to help guide you through things.
Any time you pay an employee, even if it is yourself, you'll have to pay the OASDI or social security taxes and the medicare taxes. But this depends on how your company is organized which will determine when and where you pay it.
Also, there are the CA taxes which are similar (with exceptions) at the different levels.
Remember, for tax accountants more detail is good.
Question: What online college did you go to and how was your experience? I have decided to get the rest of my Bachelor's degree from an online institution as in this day and age it really doesn't matter how you get that degree unless it's from Yale, Harvard, or one of the top 10 traditional schoos. I have considered University of Phoenix, but I heard their tuition goes up? I have also considered Kaplan and Jones university but can't find enough feedback on them. AIU has been on probation for the last 2 years so they are not an option. Please help if you have any feedback regarding any online institution or suggestions for research.
Answer: I've taken courses by DL at:
University of South Carolina
Excelsior College
Brigham Young University
Louisiana State University
Coastal Carolina University
Webster University
PCDI (vocational)
over the past 26 years. What I've seen is that the quality of delivery has steadily increased until now, there's just about no difference in quality between online and in-class at the same school.
As for picking a degree program; you're not restricted to those proprietary schools - almost every state U has an online degree completion program now and it's usually cheaper with a better reputation than the proprietary schools.
You can get a degree online from some very well placed universities (UMass, Boston U, Fl State, UC) but the reason you don't hear about them as much is because they aren't easy.
http://www.petersons.com has a list of online degree programs by subject area. It's a pretty good resource.
If you already have a large portion of your degree finished and just need a school that will take maximum transfer credit then "the Big Three" may be the right option for you.
Excelsior College http://www.excelsior.edu
Thomas Edison State College http://www.tesc.edu
Charter Oak State College http://www.cosc.edu
you won't find any other regionally accredited programs as flexible or as generous with transfer credit as these three.
If you're interested in low cost per course and need some more courses, Peru State College in Nebraska http://www.peru.edu/online/index.htm has a nice selection of bachelor's online and their tuition is more than reasonable when compared to most others.
American Public University http://www.apus.edu also has a good selection of courses and degrees but they are just a little more expensive than Peru (though way lower than the proprietary schools).
If you're interested in Emergency Management, Jacksonville State University has a pretty cool looking bachelor's online. http://jsuonline.com/online_degrees.php and they are very cost effective.
Two sources for feedback about distance education:
http://www.degreeinfo.com
http://www.degreediscussion.com
These folks usually know the real facts about programs out there and can be very helpful. The general recommendations to get the most value of your online education are these:
1) pick a school that is regionally accredited. Specialty accreditation in addition to RA will be essential in some fields. National accreditation such as DETC is valid but won't have the same universal utility as RA.
2) pick a school that has a solid reputation already. This will most likely be a school that has a presence on the ground somewhere (such as UMass or UFla) over those schools who exist only online (UoP, Kaplan, et al). Don't exclude a proprietary school if they meet your needs though and come up as the best viable option.
3) don't expect online education to be easier than in-the class. It simply isn't. You can expect online courses to require a lot of writing and more independent reading than most people want to do.

Question: What online school has a good accounting program? I am looking to start school very soon, I have looked at a lot of online schools, so many its almost confusing. I need to find a good accredited online accounting program. If anyone has personally used one, I am up for any suggestions!
Answer: you can check out McKinley College if you want an Associate degree. If you want a BS you could try for some of the larger online schools like Kaplan or AIU but they do charge a LOT more.
Also you may want to consider community college degrees as well
Question: How to Short sell stocks online with a discount online brokerage? I am new to stocks overall. I would like to know how can I short sell stocks online with a discount online brokerage such as Etrade, TDameritrade, charlesshwab, etc. It is even possible to short sell stocks online with a discount brokerage or will I have to contact individual brokerages?
Answer: You sell short stocks the same way you would normally do when you sell stocks you already own.
For most brokerages and platforms, there's usually a "sell short" button right beside the "sell" button on the trading platform.
My brokerage doesn't even distinguish between the two. Just one sell command for both normal sell and short sell. So if I had 200 shares of ABC, I can choose to sell 400 shares, and the position reverses to -200, ie. short 200 shares.
Question: What online broking website is good to start off with for a beginner investor? I want to invest 10,000 but want a online brokerage with low commission. How do i know which online brokerage is for me? Do i compare websites in order to find which is best for me?
Answer: All major brokerage firms provide their clients with on-line services, including trading platforms, latest market & financial news and research.
Customer need to select the site that is best for them. Traders have requirements in a site, while investors have other requirements.
Although most sites are geared to general securities and commodities, however customers may have special needs for the types of products they trade, and the markets in which they trade. For example I use Fidelity for investing. Scottrade for equities trading and ThinkorSwim for option trading
It seems that the most popular firms for on-line investing/trading all of which provide excellent platforms and services are; Scottrade; Chas.Schwab; TDAmeritrade; Fidelity; E-Trade and Thinkorswim. In your situation, you may be best served if you select Scottrade or Ameritrade
Question: What is an online stock broker that allows kids to get accounts with a cosign? I am a 13 year old kid, but really want to invest in the stock market. My parents will cosign but I want to invest online. As far as I have looked, I have not been able to find an online broker that allows you to do this. If any one knows an online broker that allows this, please answer.
Answer: you must be 18 to open an account PERIOD, that is the Law. You can, however, open up an UGMA (unified gift to minors account) with a parent as a Custodian, and then at a designated age, between 18-25, the account becomes yours. Every brokerage firm can and will set up and account in this manner. Good luck!

Question: How reliable are online payment services such as paypal or cherry credits for online games? Judging the credibility of online payments especially when your game's username and password is required. Is it safe to shop with your credit card online?
A critique on the above and other comprehensive answers are appreciated.
Answer: payment methods such as pay-pal are extremely secure as they use an HTTPS format the S in HTTPS stands for secure this means that the web page is encrypted and so it to steal your details the would be hacker would have to break the encryption. So as long as your password is good and you watch out fo phishing site (fake pay-pal copys that steal your details) the method is extremely secure.
Question: What online class can let you attend a traditional high school? I am in need of fixing my grade in 3-4 classes, I also need to attend my senior year of high school. Is there an online class that can let me attend their online class while attending traditional high school?
Answer: That's called dual enrollment, you can't enroll in a free public online high school while enrolling in a free public traditional school. Else the state would be funding your education twice and they won't do so.
however, you can enroll in a private online school and take all the courses you need, provided of course you pay the tuition.

Question: What online game can i create a character and travel around a city with skyscrapers? O.K. I'm kinda in to skyscrapers. I was wondering if there are any online games where i create a character kinda like pirates online or wizard 101, that i can travel around a city and go in skyscrapers. I know it sounds kinna stupid, please just tell me if you know.
Answer: I haven't heard of any games where you can create a character and enjoy some skyscraper action but the best game I've played with skyscrapers would have to be Spiderman: Web of Shadows. I've played GTA 4 before and it's a whole different experience than Spiderman, but still good in it's own right. If you want to enjoy some high flying skyscraper to skyscraper action, pick up or rent the spiderman game. There really isn't anything like jumping off the Empire State Building in it and free falling in between skyscrapers for like 20 seconds :P
Question: What online computer courses offer a computer with the course? I'm wanting to do online courses for computer science. I need a laptop to come with the course since I don't have one. Is there any online schools that offer a laptop with their courses?
Answer: I don't know of any that offer a free computer with a course. There are some that give a computer upon full-time enrollment as a student with their college (and generally, if you drop the courses, they deduct the cost of the computer from your refund).
