Question: How important is aerobic exercises to weight loss and overall health? I am working on dropping around 20-30 pounds of body fat. I already have started eating healthy, and I do push-ups and sit-ups daily. How important is aerobic exercise to losing weight and also just overall better health? Thanks.
How important is AEROBIC EXERCISE to weight loss and overall health?
Answer: It is very important for weight loss and for optimum health.
"It is almost impossible to lose weight fast without the aid of exercises. Changing your eating habits alone won't yield any permanent results! Weight loss can be achieved only when you combine healthy eating with physical activity. Exercises boost your metabolic rate, which in turn helps you burn fat fast".
Now, what is very important is the type of exercise you do. Of course cardio is efficient. But what you want to do is get fat-weight loss to happen after, long after, your work out rather than during.
If you do cardio intense cardio for thirty minutes or more, your going to get your body to start burning fat while your training. What this does is tells your body it needs fat for the next training session. You 'will loose if your calorie intake is less than what you are burning. But you body still wants to store fat for energy. So, after you start to eat normal, you will start to gain the weight back. The solution is to do on-off intensity for about twenty minutes. This will increase your heart and lung capacity. Plus it will tell your body that it doesn't need to carry the extra weight because it is to heavy and slowing it down during the bursts of training. Therefore you will burn the fat after the workout for many hours.
Example of the training that I am talking about:
"The quickest way for fast weight loss is to increase your heart rate for one minute, than lower the intensity for recovery period of about a minute. Basically your goal is to increase your heart rate and lung capacity for one to tow minutes and the recover your breath before you do it again. Do this for four or five times and it should take about twenty minutes to complete. This will activate fat burning 'after' you work out rather than during. Long after".
This way of exercise is conducive to the way we as humans are built. We are built for short bursts of speed to "get away" from predators.
Your body will not store weight because it has no idea when the next "fight or flight" is going to happen. Make sense, doesn't it?
Question: what is the optimal amount of exercise for overall health, and longevity? I've heard that you only need 17 minutes of cardio a day for the best possible heart and lung health, and that you need to exercise practically every muscle in your body via Resistance training to stay completely healthy.
But exactly what is best for overall health, and how much do you need to maximize life expectancy?
Answer: Every single body has different needs. In order to maximize life expectancy, you need to live in accordance with what YOUR body needs. In order to find out, you need to learn to listen to yourself. When you exercise, does it feel good? does it feel bad? is there a particular exercise that you love / hate?
Do the things that feel good to you.
And, please, don't say that it feels good to eat a pile of french fries. No one's body actually feels good (your brain might feel good from a dopamine kick, but your body feels weighed down and slow)
Question: What sort of measurements could I check weekly to keep track of my overall health? I'm looking for a few measures that I can record weekly and graph to keep track of my general health. Answer: I'd do weight and BMI.
Keep track of how much weight you lift, or miles run or time run.
I also keep track at the gym how many calories I burn.

Question: Does living in a wet area reduce your overall health? Can living in a moistureous city where it's raining like all the time like Vancouver or Seattle, reduce your overall long term health or reduce life expectancy? Or at least what effects does it have on the body if you always breathe wet air?
Answer: the human sense of self preservation dictates that the act of living in a hostel environment or a biologically hazardous area would greatly increase your survival instincts or immunity. the answer of course being that your question is quite redundant. nobody lives at yellowstone park because its dangerous- all kinds of poisonous gases floating above the water. if it was terribly inflictive to human health NOBODY would live there.

Question: Is there a machine that eye doctors can see your overall health? My eye doctor used the machine and said it was to check overall health. He said it showed a problem with chronic constipation. I told him it was a problem in the past but not now. And I didn't have the nerve to ask if it could tell if a person is on drugs.
Answer: My husbands eye doctor correctly diagnosed his heart condition by pointing out the capillaries that were permanently constricted. They can also see liver problems when the whites of your eyes look yellow and check for diabetes when they blow air into your eyes. Drugs show up as dilated capillaries together with constricted irises. I haven't heard of a constipation test though.

Answer: You can often assume that NBA players have problems, or are in good shape, but the reality is that the only way to tell in the begining stages of something, is if you were there to observe their emotions, habits, and how their bodily systems are reacting to everyday tasks.
Question: How bad is it for your overall health to have bad teeth? I know it's not good...but there are people I know that I am genuinely concerned about and I've heard that it can be bad for your health when you do not take care of your teeth. I know someone who doesn't ever get their teeth cleaned let alone even go to a dentist their whole life. The teeth are pretty gross and they have bad breath. I love them dearly, but do I say anything?
Answer: Bad Teeth Equal Bad Heart. People with more bacteria in their mouths also have more evidence of heart disease, people with more bacteria that cause periodontal disease also had thicker carotid arteries -- a strong indicator of clogged blood vessels.
This is the most direct evidence yet that gum disease may lead to stroke or cardiovascular disease and because gum infections are preventable and treatable, taking care of your oral health could very well have a significant impact on your cardiovascular health.
the bacteria that cause the gum disease may spread into the bloodstream and stimulate the immune system, causing inflammation that results in the clogging of arteries. Hardening of the arteries involves the inflammation process, and other studies have strongly linked heart disease with inflammation.
