Question: is it possible to overdose on pantothenic acid? i've been thinking about buying some pantothenic acid ( i have pretty moderate acne on my back/shoulders and i heard it helps.) i would be buying bottles of 100 with a dose of 500 mg, i read somewhere that i would have to take 20 pills a day at that dose to get results at first, is that safe? i know its a water soluble vitamin but 20 pills a day of anything seems like alot. any insight would be appreciated.
thanks so much!
Answer: According to this web site
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/002410.htm
there are no known toxic effect except possible diarrhea.
Still that does seem like an awful lot. Maybe just start out with a few pills.
Question: Can you take Pantothenic acid and drink alcohol? Iam taking B5 or Pantothenic acid and i was wondering if i could drink like 6 hours later.
Answer: yes you can,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Question: Why does the vitamin Pantothenic Acid make me feel anxious and nervous? Any ideas? Thanks.
Answer: It is true B5 is water soluble, but if you take too much, it might disrupt the B complex balance. Try taking one B complex vitamin with your B5, especially take B12 and B6. Take them with some calcium. If that does not work, get some sub-lingual B12.
Question: what about Pantothenic acid for acne?and what is that Pantethine? Have any one tried pantothenic acid for acne? I heard about something called Pantethine, is it related to pantothenic acid?

Question: where can i buy pantothenic acid? i'd like to buy a bottle of pantothenic acid, but at an actual store. thank you for all of your help.
Answer: You can get it at any health food store. GNC for one.
Question: Is it okay to have two days worth of Vitamin B6, Niacin, and Pantothenic acid in one day? Because I went a little overboard on my drink mix packet...
Answer: I don't know what the vitamin potency is in your drink packet, but you would have to go way over the FDA minimums to run into problems on most vitamins. I doubt there is enough in any packet to hurt you if you doubled it, they will err on the low side if anything.
The vitamins you can OD on are A and E, stuff that doesn't wash out of your system. You should be fine.
Question: What is the effect of pantothenic acid on acne?
Answer: Aka Vitamin B5...google it...for some reason it seems to get rid of acne, although it usually has to be taken in high doses, and it doesn't seem to have any serious side effects...worked very well for me for a while, then I seemed to build up resistance...I have just seriously increased my dose and it seems to be working again...it helps to combine it with a B Complex tablet...there is a lot of anecdotal evidence and other information online.
Question: Has anyone used pantothenic acid (b5) to treat or get rid of there acne? I'm researching it but i would luv some feedback of anyone who has had good results. THANX :]
Answer: Hi Cassandra,
I've been using pantothenic acid for a few years now and I can wholeheartedly say that it works very well for me. After years of trying to find something that could get rid of my acne I came across a few forum posts about B5 and how it helped to reduce acne. I tried it and couldn't believe how well it worked! I don't seem to get any side effects but now and again I stop using for a while to give my body a rest. But, after about a week without use my acne reappears. There is more info on my blog: http://cureacnenow.info/
Hope that helps with your research!
Good luck,
Will
Question: has anyone used Pantothenic Acid for Acne and did it work? i had heard that high doses of Pantothenic Acid would help clear up acne. Has anyone tried it and it worked? I am 26 and have tried every over the counter thing possible. I just had a baby and my hormones are going crazy!
Answer: idk about pantothenic acid but what i do no is that the one thing that will clear up your skin no matter what is Accutane acne pill. my acne used to be really bad to the point i felt like everyone was looking at my face in a neg way but 6 to 9 month on the Accutane clears up your face forever. it has neg side effect that stop doctors from giving it but it's worth a shot ask your doctor. Question: has anyone else taken paba and/or pantothenic acid for tanning i used it years ago and it worked but? i was just wondering if anyone else had as good of results as i did i was told that they bring the pigment of youre skin to the surface and it makes it easier to tan and my skin does not tan at all without it does anyone else know of any tanning tricks to help u tan quicker and easier?
Answer: Your skin is limited in its ability to tan, dictated by your genetics. Supplements do not work, although the tanning supply companies will gladly tell you so. The only way to increase the tan would be to increase the rays - i.e. stay in the bed longer/or outside, apply oil or moisturizer to the skin or lightly mist with water (amplifies the rays). If you ever noticed that you burn/tan a lot quicker when you go swimming, this is why.
Question: Whats the use of Pantothenic Acid and Magnesium? and what are their formulas?
thanks.
Answer: Pantothenic acid, also called vitamin B5 (a B vitamin), is a water-soluble vitamin required to sustain life (essential nutrient).
Pantothenic acid is needed to form coenzyme-A (CoA), and is critical in the metabolism and synthesis of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.
molecular formula:C9H17NO5
Magnesium is a chemical element with the symbol Mg, atomic number 12 and common oxidation number +2. It is an alkaline earth metal and the eighth most abundant element in the earth's crust by mass, although ninth in the Universe as a whole.
Magnesium plays a major role in manipulating important biological polyphosphate compounds like ATP, DNA, and RNA. Hundreds of enzymes thus require magnesium ions in order to function.
Magnesium compounds, primarily magnesium oxide (MgO), are used mainly as refractory material in furnace linings for producing iron, steel, nonferrous metals, glass and cement. Magnesium oxide and other compounds also are used in agricultural, chemical and construction industries. As a metal, this element's principal use is as an alloying additive to aluminium with these aluminium-magnesium alloys being used mainly for beverage cans.
Question: Pantothenic acid for acne question? I'm about to buy a big bottle of this, and megadose to stop the oil production in my face. I know this will work because my skin is oily and this is the exact cure that it does.
However, I've read it may cause hair loss in some people? Is there anything else I should supplement it with? I already take a multi which contains a high amount of B vitamins, so am I fine or should something else? Thanks.
Answer: Acne
Following from discoveries in mouse trials, in the late 1990s a small study was published promoting the use of pantothenic acid to treat acne vulgaris.
According to a study published in 1995 by Dr. Lit-Hung Leung, high doses of Vitamin B5 resolved acne and decreased pore size. Dr. Leung also proposes a mechanism, stating that CoA regulates both hormones and fatty-acids, and without sufficient quantities of pantothenic acid, CoA will preferentially produce androgens. This causes fatty acids to build up and be excreted through sebaceous glands, causing acne. Leung's study gave 45 Asian males and 55 Asian females varying doses of 10-20g of pantothenic acid (100,000%-200,000% of the US Daily Value), 80% orally and 20% through topical cream. Leung noted improvement of acne within one week to one month of the start of the treatment.
Critics are quick to point out the flaws in Dr. Leung's study, however. Dr. Leung's study was not a double-blind placebo controlled trial. To date, the only study looking at the effect of Vitamin B5 on acne is Dr. Leung's, and few if any dermatologists prescribe high-dose pantothenic acid. Furthermore, there is no evidence documenting acetyl-CoA regulation of androgens instead of fatty acids in times of stress or limited availability, since fatty acids are also necessary for life.

Question: Does pantothenic acid get rid of gout?
Answer: Not that I know of. Deficiency of pantothenic acid can cause tiredness, muscle weakness, increased susceptibility to infection.
You need a doctor to diagnose gout by taking a blood test and sometimes by aspirating the affected joint. (putting a needle in and taking off some fluid which is then tested for URIC acid crystals which cause gout.)
Most common medical treatment is a short course of COLCICHINE followed by daily ALLOPURINOL
