Personal Health
Question: Who Is Responsible For Our Personal Health Costs? With the possibility of universal health care which has little to do with health care and has more to artificially support the medical industry, should we be responsible for our own personal health care or should we rely on the government to tax us so that all of us can be taken care of?
Answer: Personal responsibility for my own medical care thanks. I don't want the government to control me, especially when it comes to my health, any more than it does.
Also, the government is inefficient at getting anything done. Think about this, what if you were sick and needed to go to the hospital? If the government ran the place, it would run like the DMV - long lines and nothing gets done.
Health care is not a right, it's a privilege. If you can pay for it, it's yours. If you can't pay for it, go get a job like the rest of us.
Question: What comes to mind when you hear Personal Health? I am doing a Unit Lesson plan on Personal Health for my Elementary Education classes and I need some more topics under this theme. Thanks!

Question: The best place to get personal health coverage for an international student studying nursing? I am about to enter the Clinical Phase of LPN (License Practical Nurse) programme soon and one of the requirements it that i have personal health coverage.....i am an International student and presently have no health insurance.....i need some guidelines on how to go about getting coverage at a reasonable price...can anyone assist with some serious advice.....much appreciated...thank you.
Answer: A reasonable price is $250 a month. You can get this through your school most easily, and cheaper, too. Being an international student, most US health carriers are NOT going to want to cover you.
You ALSO might be able to find it in your country of residence. Or you can ask them if they'll waive it, because you can't find a provider willing to take you.

Answer: Unless you have to prove it, I would just tell them you have it when you don't. It is none of their concern anyway...
Or you could try calling Anthem Blue Cross /Blue shield or Aetna for individual coverage. They usually have TV ads for open enrollment this time of year...but not necessarily cheap. Or you could ask your car insurance agent if they know of any coverage from the same company for health insurance and you might get a break for having the insurance at the same company and maybe get it with a high deductible to save money...still might not be cheap....
You might be able to get by with siging a waver of liability to the school that you will not sue them if you catch an illness in the course of your schooling??

Question: How can i get a personal physical health trainer? Where can i find a personal physical health trainer? I am trying to loose weight, and i dont know what to do. Do you know where i can find one?
Answer: Loosing weight and keeping it off is a big concern for many people.
One of the hardest parts is staying motivated and for this a physical trainer can help.
A gym or fitness center will probably be the best way to find a qualified trainer.
Check out your local gyms first and see if any are running any specials. Often times you can get a free trial at the gym.
If they do not offer a free trial, then you should ask to speak with one of the trainers. This way you can get an idea of how they will be able to help you and access their competence.
The hardest part is getting out and doing it, but you will feel much better about yourself in the end if you stick with it.
Question: Personal Health Insurance: who should obtain medical evidence? I live in England. My Personal Health Insurance has been turned down because no medical evidence was sent in by my employer who was handling the claim. My employer says this was not up to them but it was up to the insurance company to obtain it. Who should of obtained it. I myself provided evidence to my employers but they never sent it in with my claim.
Answer: YOU need to obtain it from your prior insurer.
Question: How can I get access to my Personal Health Records from my family doctor? I would like to get a photocopy of my health records from my family doctor. How would I go about doing this? I also live in Canada if that makes a difference.
Answer: Call your docs office and tell them you need a copy of your record.
they are required by law to do it. Most Docs have a service that takes care of it. Where I live in LosAngeles, the going rate is about $30 to $50. You can offer to copy it yourself. you ahve the right to look in your chart. you do not have a right to remove your chart from the Docs office.
They might permit you to photocopy it yourself in their office for a smaller fee.
Most likely thought you will have to pay it.

Health care is personal, not political.

Question: Any reason not to sign an Authorization for Release of Personal Health info when applying for life insurance? I am mid-50's, good health, in good condition, etc. I had a cancer scare a few years ago, but turned out I didn't have it. I'm thinking of applying for a new whole life policy that will replace another one I already have. They are asking me to sign this form that will tell all my doctors to release all my records. Is this normal and required in all cases? What's the downside? How do I know the agent won't disclose the info inappropriately?
Answer: In order to underwrite (review and decide whether to issue a policy or decline) your application, the insurance company needs to review your medical records. The form you are referencing legally allows doctors, hospital, etc. to release those records to the insurance company. This is totally normal. Your agent would not normally have access to seeing your records nor can he or she legally disclose the information to anyone. So if you want to obtain a new policy, you will need to sign the form.
That said I would be very leery about replacing your existing policy. If you purchased it a few years ago your rate was based on the age you were when you applied for the policy. Obtaining new insurance at this age would be issued at the rate for the age you are now--probably a significantly higher rate. In addition if you were to die during the first two years after the new policy is issued the insurance company can review your records again and based on the cause of death can possibly deny the claim and void the policy. After two years the policy (like your current policy now) becomes incontestable. Bottom line in my humble opinion there are many cons to replacing an older policy and very few pros.
If you still decide that it is to your advantage to replace the policy, please make certain that the new policy is issued and in your hands before canceling your current policy.
I hope this helps. Good Luck!
Question: Is there a law regulating universities demanding personal health information? I know HIPPA applies to health care industry and FERPA applies to families asking for info "from" schools, but is there a law about secondary schools demanding info. I'm in a PA and fighting my school.
Answer: I don't know the specifics for PA, but every state has laws requiring proof of immunizations before students can enroll. Is that what you mean?
I doubt there is any law pertaining to this specifically for universities. Most of the time, the basic deal is: They can demand; you can refuse. But you may not be able to use their services if you refuse.

Question: Does anyone know how much salary a Personal Health Assistant makes? This job is not medically involved. Its where you go to someones home whether they have had an accident or are elderly and need help with maybe going shopping or getting them to their appointments or helping with personal grooming or just companionship.
Answer: This would be termed a home health aide, and the wage depends on where you live, and whether or not you are certified. Agencies require home health aide certification, which in most places is given when you pass a CNA class. In this case the wage would be higher. There are some people who advertise for a home health aide, but the wages are usually lower- some will look for non-certified workers, but some require it- it you are certified and work for a family privately, you wouldn't be able to keep your certification- you would need to work for an agency in order to keep it. You can see a chart of wages depending on where you live here
