IM USEING nicotine patch gum and nasal spray aswel!
Answer: Your body will be adjusting to the fact it is no longer inhaling cigarette smoke. It is all perfectly natural and nothing to worry about. Your pains will be gone within a a couple of weeks. The longer you stay smoke free the healthier you become and the easier it is to say No.
I bet you have heard that quitting smoking is the hardest thing you will ever do. Your body will not function properly, you won't sleep or eat, you will get the shakes etc etc
Trust me when I say you will only feel these symptoms for a small period of time (if at all). When I quit I was waiting for all these things to happen but none of them ever did. The only thing I felt was the occasional wanting of a cigarette. As time goes on this passes and quicker than you think too.
There are no real negative side effects to quitting, only positive ones. The longer you have stayed smoke free the easier the quitting process becomes. You have made the right choice, believe you can quit and you will.

Question: How to quit smoking completely if i smoke only one or two Cigarettes a day? I have been smoking for 10 months and i used to smoke around 5 Cigarettes a day......Now my Fiance seriously wants me to quit smoking completely....I didn't smoked for one whole week but then again i started smoking one or two cigarettes. Whenever i get up after sleep or sit where my friends are smoking. I feel like smoking. Please tell me how can i quit it completely....!!!!
Answer: I tried to stop smoking over and over again before finally finding a method to quit smoking that actually worked long term.
The best way to stop smoking is to completely change your location for one week. This can be timed to go along with a vacation or you can specifically plan to be out of town or away from home for a week in order to stop smoking. The change of scenery and routine completely changes your cravings, which are largely habit based. Without your same daily routine, your craving for cigarettes will be interrupted.
You must get through the first day. You will probably not feel the craving for cigarettes the first day because of the upheaval of your routine. To help this along, try to make your routine for the week as different from your normal day as possible. Get up at a completely different time, eat your meals at different times than you normally would and change your bedtime for he week.
Stay busy all day and the third day will soon be over.
After a week away, the nicotine will be out of your system and you will feel better than you have in a long time. Going home again can be stressful because you may fear that you will fall into your own patterns, In order to keep this from happening, make a new routine at home to keep you from craving a cigarette. This can mean changing which rooms you spend time in or taking a walk after dinner instead of lighting up. With a new routine, you won't miss smoking as much. The air will smell sweeter and your food will taste better.
Question: How to quit smoking when you smoke a low amount? I had a baby in October 2008. I didn't smoke while pregnant. I have found myself smoking 1-5 cigarettes a day and can't seem to quit..Any tips for quitting completely?
Answer: That first responder was obviously high while writing his response....
Anyways, what helped or worked for me was smoking cheaper smokes that taste real bad. I could only handle to light it and then put it out. Averaging about 1-2 smokes per day. It was a re-light festival until I finally decided I just didn't want it anymore. That was after 24 years of smoking and a whole lot more per day than you too so you may see quicker results. A whole lot of it is mind set too. Good Luck
Question: How can I quit smoking when everyone around me smokes? I've never felt so weak in my entire life. I want to quit smoking so badly but every time I try I only find myself obsessing on wanting a cigarette. My roommates smoke, my friends smoke and it seems like we all want to quit but end up caving for one reason or another. Does anyone have any advice that could help me?
Answer: I understand your pain. Its all about standing up for yourself. Like high schoolers, its like giving in to peer pressure, but on yourself.
I have been addicted to many things and cigarettes were the worst. If you're a cold-turkey kind of person, try that and see how it goes. If not, bum when you are drinking alcohol ONLY (social smoker) and limit yourself to only 1 or 2 per social-smoking nites.
Here is how I did it:
1. Do NOT buy a pack of smokes. If you have them, you will smoke them. Bumming from friends and strangers constantly gets old quickly and they will eventually be annoyed.
2. Don't even think about it. The more you think about it, the more you want one. When you think of smoking one, think about how your throat feels right then, think about gross crap like mucus and phlegm and tar... ew.
3. My boyfriend helped. He quit smoking and stayed strong while the rest of us continued. Every time I would smoke he would be very, very, very upset. He is worth more to me than smoking cigarettes.
4. Buy lots of gum.
5. When you quit, realize that it will take a long, long, long time to not want one... but even then, even my 80 year old grandmother still has dreams about wanting cigarettes and she quit 20 years ago.
6. When you do quit, you will feel ill, you will feel tired and down and cranky and pissed off and crazy. This will pass. Do not give in!
7. This next one is entirely dependent on your personality.... if you like the social habit part of things, partake in the social habit part. If it is too difficult for you to stay social without wanting to bum, then don't partake. You may lose friends over it, but what kind of friends are those?
8. Sooner or later you won't feel like the only one not smoking... my group of friends quit one by one... and the last one standing outside smoking felt very alone.
You can do it! You can do anything.... trust yourself.
Question: How do you quit smoking without using the patch or gum? I'm thinking about quitting smoking. I know I want to quit within the next 2 years. The only thing is that I really enjoy smoking. So what I really need to know also is...
How do you make yourself smoke less?
Answer: Get a jar with a lid, put some water in it, add cigarette buts, seal jar. When want to smoke, unseal and inhale the aroma from said jar.

Question: How do i quit smoking before pregnancy? I have been smoking cigarettes for 10 years now, i have cut down to the light ones 1mg and i smoke around 20 per day. I am TTC now and am finding it so difficult to quit. My partner is a smoker also and this makes it even harder, he says he will quit when i do. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Answer: You need to be firm with your partner. You want to quit - and seeing other people smoke is even worse for you.
If you haven't already, ban smoking inside the house. From now on, make yourself and your partner smoke outside. This kind of "breaks" some habits (smoking first thing in the morning, smoking after a meal) and makes breaking more easier.
After a meal and first thing in the morning, try to force yourself to go an extra 30 min to an hour without allowing yourself a cigarette. The more "habits" you break, the easier it will become to cut back dramatically. When you are down to say... five cigarettes a day - imagine how much easier it will be to cut down to 2.. then 1... . then ... poof! No more.
The key is to break habits. Yes there is nicotine addiction - but I found that the urge to light up in the car, during coffee, after meals, etc was stronger just because i would associate those things with cigarettes. Forcing myself NOT to light up immediately really helped with phasing it out all together.
Question: How hard is it to quit smoking? I'm planning on quitting starting Aug 21st. My reason is so i can live longer for my child, plus he has asthma and i don' t want the cigarette smoke in my clothes anymore when he breathes it in. Another reason is gas prices are so high now and between gas prices and buying cigarettes i spend at least $80-$100 a month. This will be my first time ever doing this, i don't even know how to quit or avoid the cravings. I really can't afford the smoking cessation classes (don't know if i spelled the word right lol) i just want to do it on my own. I already know that the nicotine gum won't work because i already chew gum when i'm smoking a cigarette. Need advice please and thank you to all!
I have people that will support me, like my boyfriend (he wants me to quit also), co-workers, my mom said she'll support me but she smokes too and i live with her, i know other family members will be willing to help me.
Answer: To start quitting is a pretty good idea. You'll find usefull info there.
Good luck !
Question: What are good ways to quit smoking cold turkey? I am pregnant and need to quit smoking. We planned on quitting after the pack we have (we split packs), However I found two new packs in his coat tonight. How do I get him to understand that him smoking while I have to quit is not going to help me and lying to me is not going to help either? He does not know I found the packs.
Answer: Every ex-smoker I have ever known, including myself, quit smoking the exact same way. We made a decision to quit, and just stopped. I never understood how people cold do that until it happened to me. My particular trigger was being rushed to hospital in an ambulance, feeling like I was dying of a heart attack. My fear of death was stronger than my love of smoking. I never wanted to be in that position again.
Being pregnant should be the trigger for you. Just imagine that little fetus in there inhaling all the hundreds or thousands of toxic chemicals that you are exposing him/her to and all the birth defects and bad health it could suffer as a result. If that doesn't give both of you the will to quit, then I am sorry for you and your baby.

Question: How many people here have successfully quit smoking after smoking a long time? I have smoked for 14 years and am trying again to quit cold turkey. This is the hardest thing in my life. Anyone ever quit smoking successfully? How is life now for you as a non smoker? Need advice! Thanks!
Answer: I quit a little under a year ago---unfortunately it was too late for me and I will suffer for it for the next year MAYBE with the 2 terminal illnesses I acquired... I smoked for 35 YEARS and quit cold turkey last November after being told of my illnesses... it was EXTREMELY difficult but I did it... what I did MAY help you... if so, feel free to use my idea... I love oranges so, I went out and got NAVAL ORANGES (the big seedless kind) and whenever I wanted a cigarette, I reached for an orange, peeled it, pulled the pieces apart and ate the orange... I realized it took as much time to peel and eat the orange as it took to smoke a cigarette and as long as my hands and MOUTH were functioning in about the same manner as they would while smoking, I must have tricked my brain into becoming smoke satisfied... I would eat 12 or more oranges a day for the first couple of days and then gradually dropped down to where I stopped HAVING to eat the oranges after a couple of weeks. I now RARELY crave a cigarette but when I DO, the craving never lasts too long.... when driving the car, I would take pre-peeled oranges in a ziploc baggie and reach for them when I felt like smoking----I was able to quit and did NOT gain any weight as oranges are non-fattening.!!! I just wish I had come up with this idea on how to quit 25 YEARS ago rather then waiting until I was sentenced to death. I hope YOU are successful so that someday you don't have to be telling THIS SAME STORY to someone else looking for quiting advice---I'm hoping that when YOU tell this story, you are smoke free and SICK FREE
