Remedy
Question: What home remedy is there for someone who swallows a button battery? My lil' sis swallowed a button battery and I want to know if there is a home remedy for getting it out of her and if possibly there is a herbal remedy.
THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Answer: No there is no remedy. Call ER and ask them if you need to do anything because of her swallowing the battery. They will tell you if you need to be worried or not..
If anyone swallows a battery, this is what you should do:
1) Call the 24-hour National Button Battery Ingestion Hotline at 202-625-3333 IMMEDIATELY (TDD 202-362-8563). Feel free to call collect. Your physician or emergency room may also call. We are on duty 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.
2) If available, provide the battery identification number (from the package or from a matching battery).
3) An x-ray must be obtained immediately to be sure that the battery has gone through the esophagus into the stomach. Do not wait for symptoms to develop before getting an x-ray. If the battery remains in the esophagus, it must be removed IMMEDIATELY. CAUTION: Batteries lodged in the esophagus can cause severe burns in JUST 2 HOURS!! Battery removal is done with an endoscope; surgery is rarely, if ever, indicated. Do NOT give ipecac.
4) If a battery has moved beyond the esophagus, it can be expected to pass by itself. Passage may take many days, or even months. Removal is NOT indicated if the battery has passed beyond the esophagus and the patient is asymptomatic. Once you are sure the battery is not in the esophagus, the patient can be sent home to wait for the battery to pass. Watch for fever, abdominal pain, vomiting or blood in the stools. Report these symptoms immediately to your physician and to the Battery Hotline (202-625-3333).
5) Watch the stools until the battery has passed. Clean the battery, tape it to a card or wrap it carefully, and mail it to:
National Capital Poison Center
3201 New Mexico Ave, Suite 310
Washington, DC 20016
Be sure to include your name, address and telephone number. To learn more about battery ingestions, a toxicologist analyzes each battery and correlates the severity of the patient’s clinical effects with the degree of corrosion noted on the battery.
Question: Is there a home remedy for dark pigmentation around the lips? Hi,
Recently, I noticed that the corners of my lips are turning dark in color and I would like to know if there is a home remedy that would cure this. Someone told me that honey mixed with lime would work but I would like to take advice from people who have already tried this or other home remedies in such matters. Any other suggestions are welcome.
Thanks
Answer: try lemon juice
Question: What home remedy is good for a cat's dry skin? Our cat has red patches on his skin. It looks like a rash and he scratches alot. What is a good home remedy that I can use for this problem?
Answer: Sounds like you cat has an allergy problem that needs to be addressed by your vet. Many things can cause allergies and you need to know what is going on before you try to treat him at home. If it was just dry skin or a dull coat I would say add a can of canned kitty food to his diet a couple times a week it has more oils and stuff for the skin than dry foods and won't cause any other issues you don't want to deal with. But seriously talk to your vet. He/she can give you a special spray to use on him to relieve the itching and assist you in treating the actual cause.
Question: What home remedy can I use to treat my dogs ear infection? I have a yellow lab that has a small ear infection. While I am more than willing to go to the vet, is there any cheap over the counter remedy that I can use to treat, obviously if it does not improve then would take to the vet, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Answer: You really need to go to a vet straight up. If there is a yeast or bacterial infection, the dog really needs medicated (antibiotic/antifungal) ear drops to clear it up. The other thing with ear infections is that it's important to check that a/ there is nothing down the ear that has triggered the infection (e.g. a grass seed) and that the ear drum is not damaged in anyway. If there's something down the ear, then the infection's not going to go away regardless of what it is treated with. If the ear drum is damaged, you have to be very, very careful about anything that is put in the ear- some products, even veterinary ear drops, can lead to problems such as deafness if they are put down the ear canal and are able to pass through into the middle/inner ear.
Question: What home remedy would be good for the redness from acne? Ok I am already using the home remedy for blackheads and acne using honey and cinnamon. Its been working great!
But all of a sudden my face is starting to get redness around little acne spots and is getting a little dry. I was considering putting lemon juice in with my mixture as is, but now I'm not too sure.
I have combination skin is that matters at all.
What could I use that would soothe my skin?
Answer: I <3 Neutrogena and I use Clean & Clear cleansing pads (from the Avon magazine).
First, start using the Neutrogena advanced solution set which you can find in any supermarket. Get the Neutrogena foundation or concealer for acne.
Not only does it cover the blemishes smoothly, it gets rid of them!!!!! YAY!!! At least it worked for me.
If you decide to use to use the Neutrogena, carry a makeup bag with it in it.
Or if you are into home remedies (the get-rid-of-quick kind of stuff) here's what I can tell you:
Trying to clear them up in one day is hard and can leave your skin inflamed for a while...
HOWEVER, there are a few remedies that I have experimented with. My friends and family were happy to share some with me.
1. Apply lemons or tomatoes to your face, cut them into fours, and rub along face. Go to sleep and the next day- your pimples should be visibly smaller.
2. A mask of grated apple mixed with a little honey is an excellent remedy for pimples. Most facial masks can be applied to the skin for 15-20 minutes then washed off with warm water, followed by a cold rinse.
3. Another overnight home remedy for zapping a zit is to put a dab of toothpaste on it to help dry it out. You may need to test this on a short-term basis to make sure it doesn't irritate your pimple. Calamine lotion will have the same drying effect. (THIS ONE WORKED FOR ME, MY FRIEND GIT A RED RASH HOWEVER).
4. Grind some nutmeg with milk and apply on affected area. Pimples disappear like magic without leaving a mark.
5. Make a paste of roasted & powdered pomgranate skin with fresh lime juice and apply over PIMPLES.
6. Rubbing alcohol
7. Mix corn flour with egg white and apply on your face. Let is dry completely for 1/2 hour. Dip your hands in warm water and massage your face and wash off. This when repeated regularly gives you a smooth skin.
8. Honey
9. Dilute some lemon juice with water and dab on pimples to kill germs, cool inflammation and improve blood circulation. Lemon is also good for removing scars. That means any pimples you popped in angst that left a scar will go away over time. Lemon contains acid so it's like having an acid peel thing going, but not. Your skin will be so clear you can set that makeup aside for special occasions.
MOST OF THESE THINGS ARE EASY TO FIND- I didn't include things that are hard to find. I hope on of these works for you.
Though if you are willing to wait, Neutrogena advanced solution has done wonders for me.
Sorry for the length, GOOD LUCK! iHate pimples
Question: How to remedy the singing effect dimming lights produce? I have about 12 75 watt halogen lights on 1000 watt dimmer and any time I dim them some of the lights will "sing". Anybody who has had a similar situation and knows a good remedy?
It is definitely coming from the light, not the dimmer as I can unscrew the singing lights and the singing will stop.
Answer: For a dimmable circuit you should always use regular incandescent light bulbs to get the best smoothest effect and use a quality dimmer. Light bulbs wok by a filament heating up to produce light at varying intensities that result from varying voltages produced by the dimmer that is just a variable resistor.
There are "chokes" in the dimmers which are filters that filter out electrical noise but sometimes cause a modified sine wave of electricity to actually vibrate the wire filaments in the bulb causing this singing.
Cheap bulbs and cheap dimmers usually cause this.

Question: what is a natural home remedy that could be used to cure feline psoriasis? could anybody provide me a natural home remedy cure for feline psoriasis. My 10 year old cat has crusty skin mainly around his neck and it is almost always scratching on it. sometimes to the point of the fur falling out. is there any natural home remedies available that I could use on my cat that could cure him of the psoriasis without harming him.
Answer: Hi there. I would try the same stuff that works for "human" psoriasis. Put some zinc or tar ointment (check the walgreen or similar store) on your pet and see if it works.
For my scalp p. I use the herbal cream by Champori and the results are very good. You may want to try that too.
Best,

Question: What is a good home remedy for bad acne on the back, shoulders, chest, face, and neck? What is a good remedy? I heard that baking soda burns the skin, but what about toothpaste, how much of that do you use? Does it have to have a certain ingredient to work? What other remedies that could work for really bad acne and oily skin?
Answer: Regular creams don't work well on the back area. I suggest looking into apple cider vinegar, you can bathe in it and it kills off bacteria on your skin that causes acne.
You can also use tea tree oil (all natural), this also kills skin bacteria. You can find out more at
Question: What indoor home remedy can I use as a mosquito repellent? Each morning I wake up covered in mosquito bites. I've tried a mosquito net but it itches me when it drapes across my bed! Is there a safe home remedy I can use (not expensive) to keep the mosquitoes away at night time in my room?
Answer: Tea tree oil products worked well for me.
Question: What is home remedy to treat fleas on my cat? Is there any way to prevent fleas with a home remedy advantage is so expensive. She does not have fleas, but she has feline dermatitis.
Answer: This one never fails for me and all of my dogs and cats. It is called penny royal oil. You can buy it at any health food store and a lot of head shops sell it too. It does not stink, but it surely has a smell that fleas stay way far away from. You can also get eucalyptus oil and put it in a small spray bottle to water it down and spray the doorways because fleas don't like this either. Just apply a few drops to your hands of the penny royal and then rub kitty down with it. Hope this helps best of luck to you

Question: What is the remedy for a pulled ligament in the upper arm/shoulder area? I believe I pulled a ligament or two in my upper arm. It is quite painful when I stretch the arm in wrong position. If I go to the doctor, he will most likely want an MRI done. I don't have good insurance and so want to avoid one of those expensive procedures. Anyone had this happen and what was the remedy? Pain pills and time? What if I keep irritating it with everyday activities, will that slow the healing time?
Answer: Yes, it will take longer to heal if you keep overusing it. Without really knowing how serious the pulling is, i would say for now just rest as much as possible, and ice the area as much as possible. However, if a tear has occured, MRI and surgery would be the next step. Moniter for now and try to avoid activities that use/move that part of your arm.
