Stevia helps the body burn more sugar, converting glucose to energy, assisting weight loss.
It nourishes the liver, pancreas, and digestive system. It does not promote tooth decay. It also helps relieve mental emotional and physical fatigue.
Very nourishing, balancing and healing. It is also anti-fungal and anti-bacterial.
Did you know you can put it on cuts, scratches and any skin disorders to heal them?
Sorry, I could go on and on. I love the stuff. I guess that's why I sell it.
Question: how do you refine stevia leaves to use? i grew several stevia plants this year. i have harvested the dried leaves. does anyone know how to refine them so i can use the sweetener?

Here in Brazil the Indians Guaranis used the estévia as sweetener cooking the leaves in hot water and using that broth as sweetener.
Question: was stevia leaf ever banned?
Answer: No the Stevia Leaf was never banned. In fact it is probably the safest sugar substitute a diabetic can use.
A shrub native to Paraguay, used for over 1500 years by the native Guarani Indians. A herb with an abundance of positive effects. The whole leaf contains numerous phytonutrients and trace minerals and is much sweeter than sugar with out negative effects. Question: I picked some Stevia leaves today, now what do I do with them? How do I use them in tea for instance.
Answer: GOOD ON YOU! a much better option than sugar. you can simply throw the desired amount in tea and they'll sweeten it right up. you could also mash them up in a morta and pestle to make some liquid concentrate which you can then use in cooking or general sweetening (the concentrate will be very strong, 2 drops would be around the same as a heapes teaspoon of sugar.
If you are into herbal teas, you can just brew a cuppa using only the leaves, it's an inteeresting taste.
Hope that gives you some ideas, keep on steviaing!
Question: Is it safe to smoke stevia leaves? It just seems like a good idea.
Answer: Why would you want to smoke a herbal sweetener??
Tell me more about this good idea....

Question: does stevia cause weight gain like splenda? I love my tea with milk and sweetener but I really drink too much to afford the sugar calories! ive been using splenda but i heard it makes you gain weight. I have stevia in the raw and the natural dried stevia leaf in my tea set and i was wondering if this is a much healthier/weight friendly calorie free sweetener? Is it any better than splenda? what are your thoughts?
lol i use soy milk and almond milk so those are pretty healthy :)
Answer: No, stevia will not cause you to gain weight. It has a balancing effect on blood sugar, but of course it won't undo other dietary indiscretions, lol!
Splenda is a no-no. Please learn a little more about why you should NEVER use it.

As for the responder that mentioned getting nervous on stevia - that isn't usual. If you have an odd reaction to something, stop using it, of course, but that is the first time I've ever heard of anyone having that reaction.
As for "real" sodas vs diet sodas - this will not help your weight issues at ALL. High fructose corn syrup causes your body to stop burning fat for FOUR HOURS after consuming it. And a recent report showed that about 20% of high fructose corn syrup is contaminated with MERCURY. Paying premium prices for the Coke from Mexico (made with regular sugar) and "Dublin" Dr. Pepper (the plant in Dublin, Texas refused to change over from cane sugar to HFCS) may not be worth it in the long run, then there is the excessive amount of phosphates, benzene......
Happy Tea Drinking! Milk may not be the ideal thing to add to it, but you are head and shoulders healthier than soda addicts!
Question: Is Stevia used to replace sugar? Is it harmful? Its leaves are as sweet as sugar and it is natural form? Stevia is grown in trpical area and it has many tiny leaves which are sweet or sweeter than sugar. Can we use it inplace of sugar?
Answer: yeah stevia is used to replace sugar but from what ive been told its supposed to be better than regular white sugar. ive seen it in the health food store that i go to where all they sell is stuff that is supposed to be organic.
Question: How do I know when to harvest the leaves from my stevia plants? I live on the border of USDA zones 7 and 8.?
Answer: I have never harvested the leaves, just grown the plant. I would assume you can just pick off the leaves as needed and let the plant continue on.
If you google the botanical name, Stevia rebaudiana, you will get a lot of links about the plant. I can't find a link on just using and harvesting the leaves, it mostly talks about commercial uses and availablilty. Here are two links with a little info:

Maybe you will have better luck finding something. Good luck.
Question: I pressure cooked some stevia leaves and want to preserve the liquid without using salt or alcohol. HOW? TX?
Answer: strain the leaves out. then, SLOWLY boil down the remaining liquid. then you will have a stevia solid that you can grind or cut up and use like (super stong) sugar. you may want to cut the remaining product with some tasteless powder to get a better handle on measurement.
Question: What form of STEVIA is best to use in baking? I know stevia comes in many forms, including the original natural leaf, powdered leaf, liquid form and a blend. So which is best for baking? And if it's the blend, what else is in it? (please! thanks :) )
Answer: Powdered is what I've found in most recipes. I've always used Trader Joe's 100% stevia leaf extract. So many of the other brand names add extra ingredients, expensive packaging and a larger price. =)

Question: Making my own herbal tea, how can I avoid a bitter after taste? I'm using honey, and a blend of St Johns Wort, Ginkgo, Ginseng Root, Peppermint, Red Raspberry leaf, Stevia Leaves, Jasmine Flowers, and Green tea. This blend I can't change the ingredients because I purchased it pre-mixed as a "Stress Buster" tea. I'm not sure how much honey I should use, but found it tastes better cold and after sits in the fridge for a day or two, but I still can't get around the bitter after-taste. Suggestions, please?
Answer: try steeping the tea for less time.
actually, the green tea might be making that blend bitter. Green tea should only be brewed in cooler water and for less time (180F for about 2 minutes).
The other ingredients could be brewed with boiling water and up to 5-10 minutes. But not the green tea. Try a cooler water in a less steep time.
