Water Purifier

Question: Would i need a water purifier when drinking tap water in Europe? I'm traveling to England, France and Italy this summer. I am planning on bringing one of those plastic water bottles with me instead of spending money on them. Would i need a purifier? Is the tap water safe/clean?

Answer: Tap water in most of Europe is safe to use, and in many places is even tastes good. But in some countries is does taste a little of the chemicals they use to clean it. But Europe is big and not everywhere they use the same system. So ask, locally or on-line about the water in the actual countries/areas you are going. But do not bring a purifier, not worth the effort. In those few places the water is not tasting good or not clean enough, you can get bottled water in the supermarkets for very little. Do not buy in bars or petrol stations, go into the big supermarkets, that is where the local people buy their water too.

Question: water purifier? has anyone seen the commercial i think it was for brita filters where they put a packet of something its a tub of dirty water stir it and all the dirt seperates from the water and sinks. its suppose to help water situations in 3rd world contries...if you know what in talking about where what is it called

Answer: I got a water filter kit at home depot and installed it myself. The filters that you buy there are made for improving taste, removing silt and sand, and purifying the water.If you can solder copper pipe its a snap!!If not get a neighbour to help!!Watch where you apply the heat, it can damage parts of the unit!!If you are on well there are filters that will purify your water. Ask the people at home depot in that dept. My brother has 3 to 4 filters in his system..He has a well! Also ultra violet!!

Answer: It often depends upon the level of TDS in the water you consume

I never use water purifier because I assume the water is already pure and free of chemicals. Should I buy distilled water instead of spring water? Answer: No water is pure or free chemicals from any source really. Unless you are getting deionized or distilled water you probably should be using a purifier. Even in that case there are still chemicals you should be adding to the water for general health and maintenance that aren't normally there. Not to mention that most bottled water does have additives anyways.

Question: How can i make a home made water purifier.? Due to high cost of commercial purified water in the market. I want to make my own home made water purifier.

Answer: When I lived in an area that had gross water, I would tie a clean dishtowel over the faucet very tightly, so that the water would have to be strained through the dishtowel. I was SHOCKED at how much stuff that took out - it stained the dishtowel every time. I did that not just for the kitchen sink but shower and bath as well. And then if I was planning to cook with it or drink it, after that I'd always boil it. Most filters have carbon in them, as one of the steps of purification ... the water just passes through it. Maybe look online on how to utilize this process. One more suggestion - I don't know what your situation is, but if you have your own home, and might need a refrigerator in the future, get one that has a brandname water purifier built into it. Ours has a PUR water filter built in, so that all of the water that comes out of it gets filtered, and it does a great job - we have great tasting water, and it's MUCH more economical than buying it in bottles etc.,, even though the filters have to be replaced 3-4x a year ($30). Other than that, before we had this fridge we used to get the PUR pitcher - it's great, and the replacement filters are not that expensive. It'd probably cost as much as you would to make your own.

Answer: buy new water, it will work if the water is REALLY fresh

Question: How do I get my uv water purifier to stop beeping? I have replaced the lamp, but the electronic ballast keeps beeping. Is there a way to disconnect the alarm? Answer: have you tried cleaning the sight glass that the uv light slides into , sometimes if that gets dirty the alarms will keep buzzing away . some units need to be unplug for a short while say 15 mins and than they reset others have a toggle switch that you pull back to reset

Answer: There is really no need to keep asking this question. Brine shrimp live in MARINE salt water, not RO. RO has absolutely nothing but hydrogen and oxygen in it. You need to fill it with regular tap, dechlorinated and mixed with marine salt.

Answer: Most local tap water can be purified by boiling it for 2 minutes. There are also small tablets that you can buy to put in water you may have collected in a plastic container at camping stores for when all you have is lake water.

Answer: RO system is also a water purifier. But for commercial purpose it has been separated. In RO system a membrane is used to remove salts and minerals and even bacteria by reverse osmosis(RO). The product can be water with minimum salt and total solid. Since body requires many minerals- care is required that purified water contains these. Newer models include a gadget to refurbish with required minerals. The water purifier system is then a series of filters which filter out the suspended particles and color followed by killing the bacteria by UV light or removing them by use of another membrane. In this SYSTEM, the total solids in water remain unchanged. It will not change the taste of water. In RO system more water is consumed and taste may be different. All said and done- boiling water is still the best way to kill bacteria after proper filtration.

Answer: It matters. Wait for the water to cool. Rumor has it that the "water purifier" contains unshelled brine shrimp cysts -- sea monkey eggs. These will hatch very quickly as opposed to the "eggs" from the egg pouch which will take a few days.
