Question: Any tips on weight management regarding Polycystic Ovary Syndrome? I know a little about PCOS, and one issue is weight gain and threats of obesity. Can anybody either with or with knowledge on the condition offer me any tips regarding weight management?
All help will be appreciated
Answer: Well if you exercise and eat properly hopefully it won't be too bad :) Just remember that as long as you're a healthy weight you don't need to be super skinny! It's not attractive! Talk to your doctor, they are the most reliable source!
Question: A different way to look at weight management? People think that if they gain weight either it's genetic or they need to eat less. I've seen studies that say Americans are so sedate that they can get obese without overeating. Why not consume a healthy number of calories - say 1500 per day - and then exercise more if you gain weight? I know it's a different approach to weight management but wouldn't this be the healthier way to go?
Answer: Won't work. Figure out how to lay on couch, watch tv, and lose weight and you'll have something.

Question: Weight Management Clinics, are they a waste of money? I'm planning on starting at a weight management clinic next friday and well i'd like to know if they are a waste of money. I know they give you appetite suppresant and nutrition consulting and a bunch of other stuff but it does come at a nice chunk of money per week and...well i only want to lose 10 pounds and for the past 8 months i have not gained or lost any weight so...If anyone has had a good or bad experience with weight management clinics, please let me know.
Thanks
Answer: If you are only ten pounds overweight, you have no need for a weight management clinic. You should be able to manage yourself through this. Weight management clinics are designed for the severely overweight, so save your money and do it yourself.
Appetite suppressants are all around you, and you can find your own without turning to a clinic for help. Water is the best one. You can fool your brain into thinking you're full by drinking lots of water. Carrots and celery are great too. They will fill you up with lots of fiber, not calories.
As far as nutritional counseling is concerned, there are all kinds of websites you can turn to, beginning with the food pyramid devised by the USDA. See below. If you are unsure which sites are reliable, turn to academic sites first, as they aren't trying to sell you anything. The first thing to do is eliminate the empty calories in fried fast foods, candy, cakes, donuts, potato chips and soda.
Try to move a little faster, a little longer too. Take the stairs when possible and eschew the elevators. Running, cross-country skiing, swimming, aerobic dancing are all terrific for losing weight. For a very quick way to lose weight, try rope skipping. Click on the second link below for a great rope skipping workout demonstrated by fitness expert Lyen Wong.
All my best to you. You can do it yourself. One final piece of advice: Visualize yourself as lean and fit, and your body will follow suit.
Question: Is it acceptable to mix Evolve Senior dog food with Evolve Weight Management food? My mother has a 9 year old Golden Retriever and it is kinda overweight since she moved into a condo with no yard for the dog to run and play anymore. She feeds Evolve Senior and loves it, but would like to mix in Evolve Weight Management. I know that you should never mix different brands of food but not sure the rules of "same brand" mixing. PAWS, I have read your answers, if you are out there I need your help!! Thanks
Answer: Who told you that? People have all sorts of weird ideas of what diets are best for dogs, some quite fanatical. Dogs like humans will put on weight if they don't get enough exercise or are desexed or getting on in years, they will become over weight as their food intake (including titbits and treats) is beyond what they need to remain healthy, and goldens are food lovers, and will steal food if they can. I had one so know! Just don't over do the food. Cut the dried food down by the recommended dose too, add some raw meat or tinned fish with the oil and cooked veg to make a filler. Like a level cup of good dried food, your mum can mix it with some raw meat or fish and cooked veg, Poor a little hot water over it etc. No more than two and half cups, and give her the occasional raw bone to chew on, because the weight reduced stuff is generally lower in fat. That is all. Just check the packet nourishment analysis and see. You can mix it up. But to me that is a waste of time, just keep to the Weight Management
food, Cut by half the recommended dose and add meat/fish and veg to it.
Question: Can anyone recommend a good, healthy, weight management dog food? My dog is a porker and she has been her whole life and I have been trying so hard to make her lose a few. I have been walking her daily for about half an hour to 45 minutes, she is on a mixture of two differant weight management foods (I only mixed becasue i thought she might have been tired of her regular food), she only gets two bowls of food a day. So if you know of any healthy weight control foods that would be great.
Oh and she's a black lab/border collie <3
Answer: my dog (the black one in my avatar) is part border collie with maybe lab or setter or something else big. I agree with upping the walk time. bc's like a job like frisbee catching and the lab in him would love to swim, which are both healthy exercises.
this may sound stupid but why don't you just feed a little less?
Question: Why and How does green tea and L-Carnitine help on weight management? There is a food supplement in our local drugstore containing 250mg of green tea extract (EGCG) and L-Carnitine 250 mg. There are people I know who actually lost weight gradually from 5 to 10 lbs in 2 weeks. With Diet and Exercise. How does it work? And how many milligrams are really needed per EGCG and L-Carnitine?

Question: Which one of the following weight management plans is the most effective? A. One that causes a person to lose a lot of weight in a short time period
B. One that can be followed over the course of a lifetime
C. One that includes convenience foods that require little prep time
D. One that requires specialty foods, such as canned drinks
Answer: This depends on what your goal is. I would say A and B are the two best on that list depending on your goal. C and D can be incorporated into A and B. A can be useful if you wanna lose weight for a specific reason/event. For example, the summer is coming up and you wanna hit the beach, etc. B is the best if you want to take care of your overall health for your whole life. Keeping a healthy weight, immune system, blood pressure, etc.

Question: Bridal weight loss and weight management? You would think having my dress in teh closet would keep me on track but no, I"ve gained weight since I bought it. and it fit so perfectly I did not need alterations. Well 235 days to go!
What are your weight loss and managements tips and plans for your wedding?
Answer: Easy
1) Measure your food.....all prepackaged food tells you what a serving is, and all calorie charts do the same....if it says a serving is 1/2 cup (level, not heaping) then That is what it is.
2) keep a food diary--write down every thing you eat and how much & when...reviewing it you can determine how you are sabotaging yourself.
3) Brisk walking...the overall health benefits are great...do 20 minutes every day for 6 days a week at a good clip (strolling doesn;t count) it'll retard the munchy urge, aid digestion & overall circulaton, you will tone from it...and you'll sleep better
4) Sleep at least 7-8 hours every night...research tells us that lack of enough sleep can result in weight gain!
5) drink a big glass of water just before your meal and eat slowly so your stomach can register that you are full when you are really full...the mouth can chew & swallow faster than the stomach can say 'Full' which is why people tend to over eat then end up very, very uncomfortable.
6) Up your fiber....go easy at first...fiber will fill you faster than over-processed foods and your colon will love you for it...for example switch from white rice to brown...leave the skins on potatoes...even the mashed ones. Lotsa dark leafy green veggies and steam 'em-saves the nutrients and doesn't add calories...retains the yummy taste, too. Avoid over-processed and empty calorie foods too.
7) An apple a day may not keep the Dr. away but it's a healthy snack and will curb the ol afternoon snack-attack!
8) Stay away from diet soda...empty calories and evidence is in that the artifical sugar causes an abnormal sweet craving which can sabotage the dieting....
Good luck.
Good luck.
