Whey
Question: What is a good whey protein shake to take with not alot of calories? Im looking into buying a whey protein shake for after I work out. What is a good one that wont make me gain weight. Im looking to lose a few pounds and gain muscle.
Answer: The body requires more energy to digest protein than other foods (thermic effect) and as a result you burn more calories after a protein meal.

Most of the Whey protein available should already be low calorie (proteins contain calories as well), unless they state it's for weight gain, it won't make you gain weight. If you're on a set workout plan, any basic Whey protein powder should be food.
Question: What is the best whey protein supplement? I have been looking for whey protein supplements and i don't know what is the best for the price.

Question: Does whey protein help burn fat after working out? Should I drink it throughout the day even on rest days? I started drinking whey last week. Usually 2 times a day. I am going to start doing HIIT running 3 to 4 days a week then endurance 1 or 2 days a week. I go upper body-1day lower body the next then take a day off. I TRY to run and do ab exercises almost everyday. Will Whey help a lot? What time of day should I take it?
Answer: Whey protein helps with tissue repair mostly, but it can help burn fat along with a good nutrition plan
It looks good just stay CONSISTENT!!!!.
Question: How long to use whey protein before switching cycles? Sorry if the question if misunderstood. But like how long would you use whey protein for and then switch off to something different. I heard before or read it somewhere that you should stay on a certain supplement for no longer than 3-4 months. Would like to hear from people opinions on what they take and do to gain muscle throughout the year, thanks!
Answer: There is no reason to stop using whey. As long as it is an all natural product and you are consuming plenty of whole foods there is no need to cease the use of whey due to the many benefits. Whey protein is a naturally complete protein, meaning that it contains all of the essential amino acids required in the daily diet. It has the ideal combination of amino acids to help improve body composition and enhance athletic performance. I prefer a chemical free whey product minus the fillers and additives from http://www.cleanwhey.com
Whey protein is a rich source of branched chain amino acids (BCAAs), containing the highest known levels of any natural food source. BCAAs are important for athletes since unlike the other essential amino acids, they are metabolized directly into muscle tissue and are the first ones used during periods of exercise and resistance training. Whey protein provides the body with BCAAs to replenish depleted levels and start repairing and rebuilding lean muscle tissue.
Question: What is your favorite whey protein supplement in powder or actual shake? I'm drinking the ready made EAS lite shake right now, but what would you suggest? I am just staring out so the selection is a little hard to chose from. Which whey protein, in powder or actual shake form, is your favorite? Nutrition is the first consideration, of course, but taste is only kinda important. If it tastes good, that's fine, if not and you still drink it, that's okay too. Any suggestions are most appreciated.

Question: How much water can I use for 1 scoop of whey protein? I know the directions say 1 cup of water to 1 scoop of whey protein. But I use 2 cups of water to 1 scoop of whey protein is that okay??? Or am I diluting the whey too much and I wouldn't get the same effects.
Answer: The amount of water you use is just for you to be able to drink it . it only affects the taste.
your body will take what it needs from the whey protein either if it's really diluted or really concentrated.
good luck

Question: What is the best brand of whey protein according to my needs? I'm a 6'2 180 M rugby player. I play a position that doesn't require much size but a great deal of speed. I could use a 10 lb boost though. I just wanted to know which brand of whey isolate is the best for my needs. I'm not trying to body build I just want some added lean muscle. I have used Nu-Tek which I'm not crazy about, and Muscle Milk for a short period so I can't see the results yet.
Answer: I have tried both products myself, and I really prefer the all natural chemical free whey products. They seem to not cause any issues with my stomach and they aid greatly in tissue repair. Good luck with the rugby!!!
Question: What are the advantages of using whey protein after working out? I am 16 and am currently working out every night, two muscle groups a night. I am very serious about working out and have recently started drinking Whey Protein after working out. What are good drinks to make with it and what are some healthy snacks to eat after working out and during the day?
Answer: It's supposed to provide your muscles with protein and amino acids to help rebuild stretched and torn muscle tissue after your workout, helping you recover quicker and build muscle faster. However, be careful of protein powders such as whey protein. They can contain toxic metals such as arsenic, lead, cadmium, and mercury. Also, your body can only metabolize 5-9 grams of protein per hour. Anything beyond that will either be excreted out, turned into fat, or turned into urea, which can damage the kidneys. This is not to say you don't need protein, but you can easily have too much. You can get all the protein you need from regular foods like meat, eggs, and milk, and it's much cheaper too. Keep in mind that protein powders are not regulated by the FDA, and any claims the supplements industry makes are suspect.
Question: What's the difference between whey protein and protein? I take whey protein because my bf says it's better for me since I don't really want to bulk up, but get toned.
Answer: Whey protein is absorbed more readily than other proteins & your body can digest whey so easily, your muscles can use it right away to repair and rebuild new tissue.
Question: Is WHEY and ORANGE JUICE still good as a protein shake after a workout? There are so many recipes online of how to make protein shakes but they're all really intricate and require a blender. Fresh OJ and whey is pretty simple and would just need a shake to mix them up but will the effects still be as good? It's for gaining muscle btw.
Answer: You can mix whey protein with anything and get the benefits of the whey protein - all those great amino acids that help your muscles recover after a workout. I disagree with Justin, however: taking whey with milk is the best way to take it. The calcium in the milk will actually help you to absorb the protein BETTER.
The only draw back to only using OJ and whey exclusively is that you have to consume extra calories as well as protein if you want to truly gain muscle. Those extra calories usually come from gainer shakes - not just protein but ice cream, cookies, peanut butter and lots of high calorie stuff. Sure, OJ and whey travel best and is probably great to use at the gym but you will need to get those extra calories from somewhere.
One thing you might try is to blend up your smoothie at home, but it in a good, prechilled thermos and then shake it up after your work out to drink it up.
Hope this helps!
Question: Should I start using whey protein and does it work? Im 14 and I weigh 140 pounds. I lift but it doesn't seem to help a lot and i want to gain some muscle for sports. I talked to someone and they said whey protein was bad because when you run it gives you diarrhea. Should I use whey protein and if so what are the side effects?
Answer: You can use whey protein! A high quality chemical free whey product will not give you diarrhea. Make sure you eat a lot of chicken, steak, and fish as well as consuming whey shakes.
Question: What is better a weight gainer or whey protein when trying to gain muscle mass? I am taking the gnc weight gainer , saying it will not pack on a lot of fat. I am not sure if a decent whey supplement would do better. I weight train 4 to 5 days a week and gain muscle rather slowly.
Answer: Hey Chris,
I have tried the GNC weight gainer in the past, for me, I didn't like how it mixed and I thought it had a little after-taste.. There have been a few more brands I've tried, my current favorite is the link below. I have found them to have the best quality, and great price. I think their choc flavor is the best I've tried, but I also love the vanilla.
they have a forum page with some good recipes, and discussion threads.
I take about 40 grams in a smoothie, after my workout, but I have also been mixing some in my morning breakfast.
