CKD
Question: Why is there no LOW PROTEIN section in Food Store for CKD patients? I have CKD (chronic kidney disease) and find it difficult to find food items with no or very low protein in grocery stores. Most people are unaware they have CKD untill its too late. A simple blood test, Creatinine and BUN, will indicate CKD if repeatedly elivated. Also, Protein in your urine is a disclosing factor, although extreme exercise can show a trace of protein in your urine. An ultra low protein diet can help delay or avoid dialysis. Nobody seems to know this!!
Answer: There is a low protein section - it's called fruit and produce. Other wise just read the nutrition labels. If you are not sure how to read the labels or what to do with the information, make an appointment with a dietician.
Question: I have the lose it app for my iPhone and have been tryna figure out what does ckd stand for? say for example I want to add corn on cob there will be 2 chocors that will say corn, white, drained, ckd or corn, white, drained. Both will have 2 different nutritional values. So what does this ckd part mean?
Answer: I believe it means "cooked."
Question: What's the difference between having" S*X" and getting "F*CKD" ?
Answer: well you may also mean .. making love and being F*ckd.... Sex is just the act.. its F*ckd and making love... F*ckd is basically no emotional tie to it and just using sex for that just great sex. Making love it Sex with much emotional tie to it. F*ckd it basically more harsh then making love. Hope that helps .. I guess lol ;)
Question: Is it possible that i have a CKD even though my BUN and Creatinine levels are within limits? Though my Kidney ultrasound shows parenchymal calcification, echogenicity in the middle section?
Answer: Need to know more. Are you diabetic? Do you have high blood pressure? Even with that information, it would still be a guess. Of course, only your doctor can know for sure.
Question: At stage 4 ckd and an enlarged heart what are my chances of surgery?
Answer: The only thing that stops you having surgery is your chances of waking up with everything still going properly. When I had mine 7 years ago it I was on the way out. The surgery saved me but after 40 years of banging away without a mitral valve things didn't just drop into place and I still have a noisy implant. My heart was on the upper end of large for a human "I am not an animal" never worked for me.
Practice doing the jobs that need to be done to get out of hospital before you go in, walk up and down 1 flight of stairs, use the toilet shower your self. They don't like to do surgery and then find that you wont come to the party so be p repaired to get out quick. Hospital is a great place to get cut up and put back together, its a bad place to get better.
Sort out a place with someone who will watch you and provide support when you get out. They only need to say they will you can leave after one night if you want.

Question: My wife is told she is stage 3 CKD,not a boozer. Can artifical sweeteners cause this??? My Wife is basically tea-total.Yet she has a sweet tooth, but in
the last number of years. She uses artifical sweeteners instead
of sugar. Not just in drinks but baking, cooking etc.In the last 18
months she has become stage 3
Answer: Yes you are in the wrong area. The following should be helpful not my field but aware of CKD.
There are various stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD). In order to determine which stage of CKD a person is at, the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) of the kidneys are measured. This tells how quickly the kidneys are cleaning the blood and is reported in millilitres per minute. A normal GFR is greater than 90 mL/min.
In Stages 1 and 2, there are often few symptoms. If at this stage CKD is caught early, medications and lifestyle changes can slow down its progress, and even stop or reverse CKD depending on its cause. In stage three CKD, anaemia (a shortage of red blood cells) and / or early bone disease may appear and should be treated immediately. When CKD has progressed to stage four, it's time to begin preparing for dialysis and / or a kidney transplant.
Although chronic kidney disease sometimes results from primary diseases of the kidneys themselves, the major causes are diabetes and high blood pressure not alcohol, no evidence of sweetneers being the cause.
Chronic kidney disease is a disease that must be managed in close consultation with your healthcare provider. Self-treatment is not appropriate.
There are, however, several important dietary rules you can follow to help slow the progression of your kidney disease and decrease the likelihood of complications.
This is a complex process and must be individualized, generally with the help of your healthcare provider and a registered dietitian..
For information only. As with all medical conditions you must consult your own doctor.

Question: my cat has ckd (kidney disorder) any reccomendations on what i should feed her on.Shes 18months old?
Answer: This is not advice I would just take from anyone. You definitely need to get with a vet because there are MANY things which need to be considered here.
Protein intake must be moderated and limited to highest quality sources; the extent of protein limitation is determined by how effectively and at what level, the kidneys are functioning. I don't recommend drastically cutting the protein level unless you cat is in the very late stages where there is nothing that can really be done.
Sodium intake must be restricted.
Phosphorus intake must be restricted. Avoid foods with an inverse calcium/phosphorus ration.
TIPS:
*Provide professional, fixed, formula food with restricted high-quality protein and minerals.
*Add crushed garlic to make up for potassium loss.
*Supplement his diet with B vitamins.
*Plenty of fresh water.

Question: need recipe for chick. breast (with bones & skin which I can remove) ckd in foil or parchment in oven.?
Answer: Im not really sure what you're asking, but try this:
Sear your chick breast in a skillet until the skin is crispy. Wrap in foil with juillened white onion, red pepper, and celery. Dont forget to season with salt and pepper. Roast for about 30 min at 350F.
Adding an alfredo sauce to the packet would be great as well.
Question: the SKD & CKD are abbriviation of what?what is their meaning and what the difference between them?thanks?
Answer: SKD is scheduled, and CKD is checked. Checked means something has already been looked at and everything is either ok, or a note has been made of what is incorrect and needs to be fixed. Scheduled means that something has had a time established to review it, but that it has not happened yet.
Question: How fast does CKD usually progress? (Kidney Disease)? My wife is 23 and just told she has stage 3 CKD (chronic kidney disease). How fast does this stuff progress? Are we looking at dialasis next year? Two years from now? Do we need to get a second and third opinion from different doctors or do the BUN, creatinin, and a GFR in the 30's pretty much sum it up? I know some doc's are just out to get money and our doctor fits that bill in my opinion, but from the research I've been doing this diagnosis seems pretty cut and dry. Anyone had any experience with this young of a person and CKD? I'm gussing pregnancy is pretty difficult/impossible?
By the way, the doc who gave us this diagnosis gave us a packet on CKD, a packet on what to eat, and told her to "excercise and eat this diet" and kicked her out the door in 30 minutes. We had 3 previous visits with this guy and he was always very brief and cold. Should we see someone else and is there any chance that his diagnosis is wrong?
Also she had a sonogram and MRI... both were clear.
Answer: My daughter is 21 and her kidneys failed 3 years ago, so she began dialysis, and has now had a transplant. It varies in the length of time for the kidneys to completely give out. The 24 hour urine cleance test is the best measure of kidney function, has she had that test? Many women go on to have healthy pregnancies, but she needs to stay as healthy as possible. There are lots of kidney and dialysis patients that can help answer this question at http://www.ihatedialysis.com - go to the forum and post a question - it's a really great group of people with experience and knowledge to share! Question: How did Detroit get so f^ckd up? It makes all the other cities with problems such as SL and Bmore look nice. Do you think it will get better like Atlanta did/is.
And did you know that the average home is only 88k - 107k compared to Manhatten (1.64M - 2M), Is it worth it?
Answer: I lived a good part of my life in Detroit(born and raised) and I now live in St. Louis. There is nooooo comparison between the 2. For one thing the economy here is head and shoulders better. The people care more about their city and it shows in how the down town areas have been maintained and remain visitor friendly. Every time I go back to Detroit I leave more depressed that the time before. The racial tension between Blacks and whites and throw in the Arabs is at a boiling point and has been for some time.
The last time I was in Detroit was June of '04 and was at the Freedom Festival. There was violence, guns shots fired, and people injured. Days later I was back in St Louis and went downtown for for the 4th of July Fireworks on the Mississippi River, and there wasn't a single act of violence. And I had a blast and felt safe to boot.
Detroit got so F-ed up because people like the mayor of Detroit back in the 70's Coleman Young were hired mainly because he was a Black Man. Just like the Mayor the last time I was there in '04. Making poor decision(s) that benefited a few($) and hurt so many. That and the fact that Detroit never tried to reinvent itself with another source of industry solely depending on the auto industry(s). Now with unemployment continuously rising home foreclosures at an all time high in Detroit(1 out of every 80 homes). Detroit is doing too much too little too late in the revival of the "downtown" area.
My Poor City....................

Question: How to reduce water swelling in CKD? My father was diagnosed with CKD 5 months ago.
He is experiencing a lot of water retention around the belly area.
Is there any foods that you may know to help with this? (act as diuretic?)
It seems that asparagus, garlic and cellery can help.
Are there any medicines for this?
Thank you for your time.
Answer: First of all, you need to forget about "medicines". My experience has shown that natural remedies are far more effective at controlling chronic disease. (I am diabetic and have fibromyalgia). No medicine, with all of their harsh side effects, has ever come close to being as effective as my natural foods based diet and supplement routine.
What I would recommend is, read up on the disease (as I have with mine), and learn all you can about natural remedies. What you're likely to find is that the more natural foods you incorporate into your diet and the less man made, refined, packaged foods you use, the more likely you will have success in conquering/controlling ANY chronic disease. Exercise plays a crucial role in all of this, so try to get dad out for regular walks. It doesn't have to be particularly hard, it just has to be consistent.
