Linoleic
Question: How do vegans obtain conjugated linoleic acid? I wanna know how vegans can obtain conjugated linoleic acid in their diet and also how they can build muscle in general without the consumption of meat, dairy or any other animal products.
Answer: Linoleic Acid is Omega 6. In the western world, people generally get TOO much of this and TOO little of Omega 3.
However, vegans don't have a problem with getting the right balance. It's found in soya, which is something most vegans consume a lot of. Conveniently, soya is great for protein too- protein is needed for cell growth, and as everyone knows, is good for gaining muscle mass. Therefore, combined with appropriate weight training, it is perfectly possible to gain muscle as a vegan.
''There are two essential fatty acids which must be supplied by the diet. These are linoleic acid and a-linolenic acid. Essential fatty acids are important for cell membrane function, cholesterol metabolism and the synthesis of various metabolites. Good sources of essential fatty acids are vegetable oils. It is important to have the correct balance between linoleic acid and a-linolenic acid. It has been suggested that vegans should use soyabean or rapeseed oils rather than sunflower or corn oils as these help give a better dietary balance''.
A lot of people don't get enough Omega 3 (Alpha Linolenic Acid). It's found in nuts, walnuts especially. I don't think it's a problem for a healthy balanced vegan diet though, most vegans consume nuts and seeds for a variety of nutrients, such as iron, protein, riboflavin & selenium.
Question: Are conjugated linoleic acids supplements good for gaining muscle? I've heard all of the claims about how these products reduce body fat and help gain muscle but I'm wondering if they really work that well. If so how high of a priority should they be when compared to other supplements? If you have any sites that have legitimate research information or any studies that were done using these products please post them.
Answer: yes
Question: How many grams of Conjugated Linoleic Acid are in an ounce of beef? Assuming the beef is coming from grazing cattle. Obviously, an approximation will suffice. I don't want to take it as a supplement, I'd rather get it naturally.
Answer: I think it's an maths problem not chemistry!!
Question: What is Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), how does it work, and where is it found?
Answer: Conjugated linoleic acid has been shown in numerous studies to cause increased amounts of blood glucose to be directed more rapidly and efficiently to the muscle cells where it helps muscle-fibers broken down during weight training to rebuild and grow larger and stronger. It also increases the system metabolic rate, aiding in weight loss by decreasing the amount of glucose that goes into storage in the fat cells.
Soy is a good source of the isomers that that make up CLA. It contains 2.8% linolenic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid, which has many beneficial health effects.
Question: What are the benefits of the supplement CLA Conjugated Linoleic Acid? I have a bottle and take it now and then, the capsules have 20 calories and 2 grams of fat yet the bottle says "helps reduce body fat."
Answer: i have read that it especially reduces belly fat,and prevents breast and colon cancer. . i was surprised to read it is a trans fat,but due to the conjugalation of it, it is not harmful. cla is a varied form of the essential fatty acid, linoleic acid. it is found in the red meat of cattle that are fed natural grasses. it is found in eggs, poultry, safflower and corn oil. the anticancer properties have not been proven in humans, only mice.
Question: What side effects can you get from Conjugated linoleic acid when taking it for weight loss?
Answer: you see sounds and hear colours.
Question: Can a 13 year old struggling to lose weight take the pill Thermo Conjugated Linoleic Acid from GNC?
Answer: You probably shouldn't. A lot of diet pills mess with brain function and development, not to mention body function and development. If you want to lose weight, try joining a team sport. The social aspect of it will make the work seem fun, and you'll lose weight more easily. Good luck, kiddo.
Question: Can a 13 year old struggling to lose weight take the pill Conjugated Linoleic Acid from GNC?
Answer: I wouldn't recommend it especially at that age. 13 year olds aren't fully developed so artificially fat burners wouldn't be safe. The best way to lose weight is lower calorie intake and increase exercise. Good luck! Hope I helped! Please mark as best answer if it is. Any other questions feel free to message me. Tyler(age 15)
Question: Is Conjugated linoleic acid safe to take and does it cotain any side effects?

Always check with your doctor if your are unsure of a chemical's effect on the body.
Question: where can I buy conjugated linoleic acid? or also known as CLA. or any cla products? Are they available in stores like walmart or would i have to go to a place like gnc?
Answer: Most likely you would find it at GNC or on the Web. I must caution you, however, that the stuff you find in supplements is an equal mixture of 2 isomers that have rather different properties. You may want a product that is mostly the cis-9, trans-11 CLA isomer, the primary form of CLA found naturally in beef and dairy products. The supplements are made from safflower oil.
From the Wikipedia article:
"Some studies of CLA in human diets show that it may reduce body fat,[30] especially abdominal fat. A maximum reduction in body fat was achieved with a daily dose of 3.4g.[31] However, some experts do not recommend taking CLA supplements. CLA supplements contain high levels of the t10,c12 CLA isomer, which has been linked to multiple side effects.[32] Supplementation with this form of CLA has been shown to increase C-reactive protein levels, possibly to induce oxidative stress,[33] to reduce insulin sensitivity, and to increase lipid peroxidation.[34] In contrast, the cis-9, trans-11 CLA isomer, the primary form of CLA found naturally in beef and dairy products, has been shown to protect cells from oxidative damage by increasing glutathione levels without inducing lipid peroxidation.[35] It is possible, however, that the observation of markers of increased lipid oxidation may indicate potentially desirable lipolytic effects. Further studies are necessary to establish the clinical significance of such observations."
On the other hand, the people who make this stuff say you want the 50-50 mix they have. Go figure.
Question: does the c9 t11 Conjugated Linoleic Acid really work? its a weight loss pill that was on cnn? i saw it online it says that its really affective but im just wondering if it really does work

Question: How does CLA(conjugated linoleic acid) work to burn fat?
Answer: It doesn't. See the link.
Question: What is the formula for corn oil, a triglyceride containing palmitic, oleic and linoleic acids? and equations for the reactions with sodium hydroxide, hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst and at elevated temperature and pressure, and a 5% solution of bromine in cyclohexane
Answer: Formula: you more or less answered your question yourself. It is any combination of glycerine esters with any combination of these acids.
Reaction with NaOH is saponification, resulting in glycerine and the free acids (or more specifically, acid rests as dissolved salts).
Reaction with hydrogen in the presence of Pt or Raney-Ni as catalysts will ultimately produce the triglycerides of the corresponding saturated acids. This is known as "hardening" of fats since saturated fatty acids tend to produce solid fats whereas unsaturated fatty acid triglycerides of comparable mass remain liquid at the same temperatures.
Reaction with bromine will result in electrophile addition of Bromine on the double bonds of the unsaturated acids.
Question: What are the benefits of CLA [Conjugated linoleic acids]? And when do you suggest I take it?
Thanks!
Answer: I think your OT questions are lost in this section.
Question: My daughter wants to know if anyone knows if there is different plys of conjugated linoleic acid?
