Question: Can a child who is already taking a multivitamin supplement also take a packet of Emergen-C? ...or would this cause the child to overdose on vitamins (especially on vitamin C)?
I'm asking this because my little brother is a terribly picky eater (he only eats french fries, macaroni and cheese, salami sandwiches, and junk food). He constantly gets sick and so I am buying him this liquid multivitamin supplement. Should I also buy him some Emergen-C? What do you think? Thanks.
Answer: No, if he's already taking multivitamins he does not need any more. Maybe a drinking supplement like pedisure or ensure. You can overdose on vitamins. The human system has some bodily made nutrients that create some vitamins from some of the food he eats.

Question: Can any woman take Pregnacare multivitamin supplement? my nurse told me to start taking Folic Acid before conception.
But I saw Pregnacare multivitamin supplement in a store, is that good? can I just take it without making sure with doctor?
I don't have any allergy or something. and to take Folic Acid through Vegetables, should I eat fresh/raw vegetable or it's ok to cook them?
thank you!
Answer: pregnacare wont harm you if you arent pregnant yet and will help your body get used to it before you are pregnant. pregnacare has folic acid in it but if you still want to eat vegetables that contain folic acid its best to eat them raw as cooking can take the nutrients out but as long as you dont overcook them you can still eat them cooked.
Question: Is it bad to take a multivitamin supplement and a fish oil supplement? I take one a day mens formula and i would also like to take a fish oil supplement because i've heard how good it is for you so i was wondering if its bad to take both those supplements simultaneously?

Question: Is it safe to take a multivitamin supplement AND a calcium supplement everyday? The multivitamin has 20% of daily calcium and the calcium pill has 60%. But they both each have 100% daily vitamin D. So I'm just wondering if it would be safe to take both of them in the same day?
Answer: Yes, you can take them in the same day, but you should take them at LEAST 4 hours apart. The human body can't absorb more than 600 mg of Calcium (60% of the RDA) at any given point in time, so if you ingest more than that, it may be deposited elsewhere in the body (which can be very dangerous). The content of Vitamin D is just fine. The RDA for Vitamin D is only 400 IU and it's commonly recommended for 1-2,000 IU for optimal benefits.
Good luck and I hope I helped!
Question: Are You Taking A Multivitamin supplement every day? Are you trying to stay healthy? Do you take multivitamin supplements every day?
Did you know the fatty layer of the cell wall in undernourished cells makes absorption
of these nutrients difficult. How do you address this challenge directly?
Answer: Vitamin supplements are best avoided. In the UK at least deficiencies are rare and there is neither need nor therapeutic advantage in taking supplements. Recently there has been increasing concerns about what is effectively overdosing on synthetic vitamins. The fat soluble vitamins are the most potentially toxic, A to the eye, D to the kidney K to the blood clotting mechanism and E appears to increase all cause mortality. The most recent, and one of the most worrying papers concerns women taking multivitamins. There appears to be an associated 19% increase in the risk of breast cancer in women on multivitamin tablets, though further investigation is required to confirm that the risk is causal.

B: plenty including 800 mcg of Folic and B12 of the cyano- type. |

E: natural d-alpha-tocopherol succinate, >200mg. |

Optionally, these would be great too:

Calcium:1000-2000 mg. |
Magnesium: 500 - 1000 mg. |
Other trace minerals. |
Omega 3 oils. |

Question: Do we need a daily multivitamin supplement? I just heard something on the news that basically said that if you eat a half-way normal diet that you shouldnt take a multivitamin because we get what we are supposed to anyway by default. Even without eating fruits and veggies we would still get enough in our daily meals.
What is the TRUTH?
Thank you so much,
Adam
Answer: Taking a multivitamin wouldn't hurt.
A half way normal American diet is very poor most Americans eat to much grains (not whole) to much fatty meat/ proteins
(not the healthy low fat meats like chicken breast or fish)
and not enough FRESH fruits and vegetables. Not to mention the empty or harmful foods we eat/drink like soda, french fries,
butter/margarine, salad dressing and mayo.
Most vitamins you would get in a multivitamin can be easily excreted if you get to much.
