Nutritional Supplements
Question: Nutritional supplements? I am doing a no carb diet, and was wondering what kinds of vitamins and/ or supplements I should probably be taking to try to balance myself out.
**I am not looking for criticism of the diet I'm on! I only would like an answer to my question, please!
Thanks!
Answer: Not trying to criticize, but I don't know of any vitamins or supplements u could take that will give u energy the same as carbs do. I have heard that royal jelly will give an energy boost but i don't know how reliable that is - whether it makes ur body use carbs more efficiently or it has its own energy.
Question: How do nutritional supplements effect the way you feel? I've been taking daily multi-vitamin nutritional supplements for the past three days. I feel really focused, energized, and a bit wired; although, I'm not sure if this is just a placebo response. Just what are the symptoms of nutritional supplements?
Answer: I've felt the same thing. Personally I believe its just the effect of getting the extra nutrition you need.
I see it like a car. You can buy really cheap gas to put in your car. It'll make your car run, but it won't run as well as with premium. The nutritional supplements are the premium gasoline for your body.
Question: Is it dangerous to take nutritional supplements with prescription drugs? What would you like to ask? Is anyone taking prescription ibuprofen with nutritional supplements such as SAMe, magnesium, or 5-HTP? Is it safe to do that? I also have white willow bark. Should I take that instead of the prescription ibuprofen and thereby, restrict my intake to only nutritional supplements.
Answer: Well ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory medication and the rest seem to be 'natural' forms of anti-depressants and anti-inflammatory supplements. What is your intended goal? If you were prescribed something by a doctor I would continue to take that. Do not take the supplements in conjunction with or in place of the prescription your were given.
Question: What are good nutritional supplements for volleyball players? I am playing volleyball and looking for some good nutritional supplements to take to help me better my performance. If anyone has had success with a certain product or something, please tell me so I can know. Thank you.
Answer: Volleyball is about a combination of strength, speed, and endurance, so there's not going to be one substance that will really help you. I think any multi-vitamin with iron (to keep you from getting a little anemic) and the B-complex (to help you stay focused) would be fine. I've also heard good things about creatine to help with strength and muscle mass, but remember the bigger you are, the more of you you'll have to get off the floor.
Also, depending on how old you are, make sure you check into anything you're putting in your body. If you want to play in the NCAA, there are a ton of substances that are banned. There are even flavors of vitamin water that have NCAA banned substances in them, so be careful what you take.
Question: What do you advice about dietary/nutritional supplements? I'm planning to start exercising since I feel I'm gaining more weight now than when I had my baby 4 months ago. I've always have in mind of trying dietary/nutritional natural supplements but I'm scare it would bring secondary effects. What do you think of that? What is your experience?
Answer: Dietary supplements may not be risk-free under certain circumstances. Be sure to consult your health practitioner before purchasing or taking any supplement if you are pregnant, nursing a baby, or have a chronic medical condition such as, diabetes, hypertension or heart disease. Also, while vitamin and mineral supplements are generally considered safe for children, you may wish to check with your doctor before giving these or any other dietary supplements to your child.
Question: Need websites on the benefits and hazards of nutritional supplements? Need websites on the benefits and hazards of nutritional supplements, for a report I have to do for school. Please help.

Question: What are benefits and hazards of nutritional supplements ? What are some of the health hazards and benefits of taking nutritional supplements.
Answer: Nutritional supplements as in vitamin C and calcium and stuff?
They do have their drawbacks. Each person is different and may react to the combinations of nutrients differently. For example: Some people, when they get too much of certain minerals, may experience changes in blood pressure, hair loss, upset stomach, or other side affects. This is why it is important to read the labels and be cautious when taking multiple supplements.
Right now I am looking at a bottle that contains 500% of your daily recommended Vitamin D. And that is fine, but if you take this and something else that has 300% and another that has like 1000%, etc… - you may eventually end up with a vitamin D overdose. Vitamin D overdose can lead to your body absorbing extra calcium, calcium deposits in tissues, urinary stones, and certain nerve and muscle symptoms.
Don’t get too worried about overdoses. Just remember to take supplements as directed by the label or your doctor. But some other problems that you will have to worry about include excess hunger, too much energy, and upset stomach. Some people get hungrier after taking a nutritional supplement. It is suggested that they take stuff right before bed so that they sleep through the hunger instead of over-eating through the day. Other people get a burst of energy that will keep them up late if they don’t take their supplements early in the day. And some get an upset stomach and should take supplements with a small amount of food such as a slice of bread.
The benefits of taking supplements outweigh the “hazards”. Your body needs certain things for top performance and chances are that you aren’t getting enough nutrition from the food you eat. Proper nutrition can help lessen your risk of getting certain diseases or other health problems, they can improve your mood & ability to think clearly, they can help lessen the affects of problems such as arthritis, they can give you more energy and help your over-all body feel better. Not only do supplements help make sure that you get enough of the nutrients you need – they also generally make sure that these nutrients are in a form that is easy for your body to absorb and use.
Question: What are some dietary aids or nutritional supplements? I'm doing a project and need a list of some popular dietary aids/nutritional supplements. They don't have to actually work and I don't need to know what they do, I can find that myself. I just need a list of about 3.
Answer: Look online
Question: How to nutritional, dietary and food supplements differ? Are nutritional supplements the same as dietary or food supplements? If they are not one and the same, how do the definitions differ?
Answer: This is a question of symantecs and interpretation. Only DIETARY supplements is widely accepted as ANYTHING taken or added to a persons existing consumption. It does not mean WEIGHTLOSS. FOOD supplements would be best interpreted as one which is comprised a food as a whole in a more convenient form (capsule or powder). Green foods such as brocolli, spinach, and wheat grass would be a FOOD supplement.
All NUTRITIONAL are DIETARY
All FOOD are DIETARY
but not all DIETARY are FOOD.

Question: Do nutritionists recommend nutritional supplements? I am planning on seeing a nutritionist since Medicaid covers it. I was just wondering if they recommend nutritional or dietary supplements because along with their nutritional counseling. Or do they just tell you what kinds of foods are healthy for you according to your health conditions? I know they develop a nutritional plan with you for the foods you should eat and not eat.
Answer: Dietians use only food.
A good nutritionist will look for what is going with the person health wise and find supplements that will deal with any deficiencies he may have.
A good nutritionist will also test the person on both what is going on with him and on what supplements will work best.
Question: How can you find safe nutritional supplements online? I am interested in purchasing a nutritional supplement at the best price. At the same time I want to know that what is being put into the body is safe. How can I find a reputable online source?
With melamine being found in pet food and baby formula I consider this a very relevant question.
Answer: I can totally relate. I use Andrew Lessman's Vitamins. His vitamins are sold on HSN.com and on his website procapslabs.com. His Essential 1 Multivitamin is good. I also use additional supplements as well (Calcium, Omega 3, and Iron).
Hope this helps. Good luck!
Question: Nutritional supplements for a Cross Country runner? I am working hard doing everything I can to be the best I can be. The one thing I have not done is tried an extra nutritional supplement. If any one has any suggestions of what you have used or heard of.
I have tried Accelerade and Gatorade.
Answer: The most important thing is that you practice hard, the purpose of a supplement is to make sure you have the sugar, electrolytes and hydration to train hard, or, afterward, to make sure you have enough protein to rebuild your muscles well. For this reason I recommend any sports drink for before practice, or water and a banana, and then after, it is important to get protein into your system within 40mins of the end of a run. you can get the protein from a bar, a powder, or any other way you can think of. Those are the important things so when picking a "supplement" know what it should be used for, you can work hard, but these help you get the most out of your work.
Question: Does anyone know anything about Vemma nutritional supplements? I just signed up for Vemma nutritional supplements and I am reading good things about the product, but also reading articles that implicate it may be a scam. Help?
Answer: If you want to choose your own vitamins and supplements at reasonable prices, try http://www.vitaminshoppe.com or http://www.swansonvitamins.com
Both places sell a huge selection of excellent products for about 10% of what you pay to a multi-level-marketing scheme and you don't have to listen to anyone tell you BS. Remember that when you buy MLM vitamins, 45% of cost goes to the seller who is pressuring you to buy them, another 45% is going to the various people upstream who pressured other sellers to sell for them, and 10% covers the actual cost and shipping of the supplements.
