Acidic Body
Question: Does Green Tea make your body acidic or more alkaline? And does Green Tea help treat indigestion? I want to keep my body as alkaline as possible, and at the same time keep my Growth Hormone high, and also keep my body loaded with antioxidants and polyphenols. Does Drinking Green Tea have an alkaline effect on your body or acidic effect? I like to go on short fasts frequently (no more than 1 day) and I like to drink Green Tea on an empty stomach.
Answer: I'm not sure about the acidic thing ,but I do know that my high blood pressure went down about 10 points in the two months that I have brewed and drank it.
Question: Smokers always have bad teeth is this because tobacco makes the body acidic and destroys bone? This makes sense to me the teeth don't get damaged to much from direct smoke contact its the fact that tobacco destroys the kidneys and makes the body acidic
Answer: Hello 'mabisking26' :
You could be partly correct ... I don't know. What I do know, is that the nicotine, tar and chemicals used in cigarette tobacco rots your teeth, promotes gum disease and gives the smoker bad breath.
Question: How can I make my body less acidic? My body seems to be very acidic lately. I don't know how to make it more neutral. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me out. It's making me very ill and I really want to feel better.
I think its from eating a bunch of acidic stuff my whole body is becoming that way and hurting me. I need neutrals instead of acidic stuff any ideas? My whole body hurts and is really out of whack.
Answer: Nick makes a valid point.
You can reduce mild metabolic acidosis (which may be the "normal' state of humans on a processed food and fast food diet) by eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Here are a variety of scientific papers on this subject.

Question: Will a body of water on acidic soil have a higher acidic content? Say there is a man made lake in a valley that contains acid soil, would this make the water more acidic than a body of water on neutral soil? I'm guessing this is the case, but need to confirm it, so if you do let me know, could you direct me also to a reference online? Cheers!
Answer: Water is affected by the nutrients in the soil it's flowing/resting upon. So yes, it would cause the water to be more acidic. Sorry I don't have any direct references. I learned this in my geochemistry class about a year ago.
Question: What drinks and food can I eat that are not acidic cause I am restore my PH body balance? I think my body is too acidic cause I eat a lot of junk food like everyday and processed food and I am 18, so I want to change it. I am female and slim but I do do sports, so I guess that is what keeps the weight off. I eat a lot of sugary foods as well. Also many fruit flies and gnats are attracted to me, and like to float above my head and everyone notices, cause this be a reason???
Answer: Do this:
Get a juicer like Jack La-Lannes at Target for $100.00
Get one organic romaine head,
one orgainic fuji or honeycrisp apple,
one organic lemon,
and juice it all.
Drink this "green lemonaide" each day, and you will be good to go.
Helps prevent cancer too!
Question: How might excessively high body temperature or acidosis (acidic blood pH) interfere with enzyme activity? Virtually no chemical reaction can occur in the body in the absence of enzymes.
How might excessively high body temperature or acidosis (acidic blood pH) interfere with enzyme activity?
Answer: High body temperature or low pH will affect the structures of enzymes. In the presence of one of these things, many enzymes (proteins) will denature (unfold). Once denatured, they are no longer effective. This fits along the major biological theme of "structure determines function." Once the structure of the enzyme has been changed like this, it's ability to function will be reduced or eliminated.
Question: why is it good to alkalize your body? how do you prevent your body from becoming too acidic? i have started to juice just recently over the past few days and have been doing some research and a lot of information says veggie juice is very alkaline and that is good for your body, it also says to make sure you are balanced and don't become too acidic....any more information on how to do this and prevent to much acidity? and any general juicing info an tips would be nice :) thankyou
Answer: Acid-base balance is controlled within our body by means of urinary system, respiratory system and the cellular metabolism.
The first thing u need to keep pH of blood from being too acid is drinking sufficient amount of water.
Then u should breath normally.. Or at least sufficiently so that the body doesnt need to do an anaerobic metabolism.
If u are healthy then ur body it self has had self balancing mechanism involving a number of hormones and enzymes
Question: How to know if the body is too acidic? I keep reading about what to do about acidity too high in the body but how do I know if I'm acidic or balanced or basic (too much alkaline?)
I don't want to jump on any homeopathic bandwagons until I understand the whole cause and effect....
I mean what if I tried to decrease acidity in my body when it was already balanced or even too low in acidity? Now that would be bad, wouldn't it??
:)
Answer: if your body was too acidic you would know it. you would be breathing very funny, feel sick, and if moderate or sever maybe confused or dillusional and on the verge of death. your body has a very narrow window for acid/base balance and it does a very good job of maintaining it. with that said, unless the above applies you should do nothing because youre fine and the people that say your body is too acidic are probably quacks. you have to try pretty hard to actually change your body's acid/base balance.
Question: I have been drinking Coca Cola nearly everyday for the last 3yrs, would my body be Acidic or Alkaline? If its Acidic, how low would it be at the moment?
Answer: read the above answer
+ its loaded with sugar or artificial sweetners so its bad for your teeth too
Question: How does the body reacts to an acidic condition drop in blood pH). drop in blood pH).? How does the body reacts to an acidic condition drop in blood pH). drop in blood pH). You must include at least 1 reason the body might get into acidic conditions, and the reaction of 2 different body systems to help the body return to homeostasis
Answer: Diabetics typically have low blood pH, a condition referred to as ketoacidosis. The system response really depends on the cause of the acidosis...if it's metabolic acidosis the kidneys respond by indirectly producing bicarbonate (HCO3), but if it's respiratory acidosis, the respiration rate changes (increased).
Question: Where in a human body might it be beneficial to have enzymes that work well in very acidic environment? Different enzymes work better under different conditions. Where in a human body might it be beneficial to have enzymes that work well in very acidic environment?
Answer: pepsin is a proteolytic enzyme that works at the pH ~ 2 of the stomach.
The enzymes of the SI work at pHs bewteen ~ 7-8.... The cathepsins used in the phagolysosomes of macrophages and in the lysosomes of many cells have a pH optimum of ~ 5 . By far he most acidic envionment would be that of the he stomach at pH 2 where pepsin ( a proteolytic enzyme ) and gastric lipase ( an enzyme that can degrade triglycerides ) exist.
Question: What causes an acidic body smell? Anxiety? Depression?
Answer: Get checked for Diabetes.
Question: Is meat protein metabolised conveniently for the body when eaten with acidic fruits such as lemon? Does this diminish the building of muscle, if a person is on a high calorie diet?
Answer: I am not schooled much in human biology, but I would think the answer is no. This is just an educated guess.
The reason I think this is because of the fact that it is enzymes called 'proteases' that break protein down to their individual amino acids.
Sorry I can't be more technical, but I hope it help somewhat at least :)
Question: Is there an easy or cheap way to tell if your body is acidic?
Answer: Different parts of your body have different ph levels. Your mouth and digestive tract are acidic. Your blood is slightly basic. Your urinary system is mostly basic.
So really, it differs.
Question: Is barley grain used to make barley drink have an alkaline or acidic to our body?
Answer: Barley in its whole grain form is an acidic forming food.
cheers
♥
Question: Is it really merit to bringing your body into alkaline / acidic balance? Is this just a myth?
Answer: I don't think you can actually bring your body into such a balance. The body uses several systems of buffers to keep each organ at a specific pH. This would make it very difficult to titrate yourself. Even if you could, it would not be advisable, the body naturally sets the pH of each organ to the optimum values, and a small change would cause serious health problems.
