Alkaline Balance
Question: By drinking "Whey" will it increase the acidity content in my body? Will the alkaline/acidity balance change? Have stage four cancer in the liver and read that too much acidity in the body will feed the cancer cells. Trying to find food and drinks that will help boost the immune system while at the same I don't want to alter or adversely affect the chemo treatment.
Answer: http://www.ctds.info/acidic-foods.html

It is essential for total balance and harmony to eat a diet of 70% alkaline and 30% acidic food.
Balancing the body and removing stressors will also benefit the immune system. You can do that via Quantum Biofeedback even if you have cancer.
Question: Ways to Detox your system to get back to a normal PH balance without losing alot of weight? I am looking for a way to detox and need advice on what to buy whether it be at a vitamin shop or wherever? I am looking to remove all toxins out of my system to have a more balance alkaline/acidic system but i don't want to lose alot of weight. Can anyone tell me what i should do to acheive this? thanks!
Answer: stay in bed 2 weeks straight, that's what i heard
Question: What is an alkaline ph balanced shampoo?And what is a neutralizing lotion? I am lightening my hair.It says to use the neutralizer and alkaline ph balanced shampoo afterwards.Do I need both?
Answer: the neutralizer or aklaline shampoo would be one with a low ph level...such as a clarifying shampoo...like Neutrogena they have one that is gentle but it does the job...but i would suggest something else..a creamy shampoo instead to add moisture back into your hair like Silk Effects from Sallys Beauty Supply...its only like 5 dollars and it works so well....on me who has dyed her hair over 16 times and highlighted several times this year....
ps the ph thing is that a low ph would bring the ph in your hair down since the ph of a hairdye or a bleach is like 8 and your hair is naturally 4-5 so a low ph alkaline shampoo would help to stop the damage from happening....lemon juice is alkaline with a ph of around 2.5
Question: Alkaline /acid balance ? Can anyone give me either a good link or info?
Tony Robbins claims we must ingest high levels of alkaline foods, while some doctors will say it is not of great importance, because the stomach remains highly acid while the intestines remain alkaline.
Changing the PH level in your bladder is of no use, they claim.
No random answers please.
Answer: Your stomach really only produces appreciable acid when you eat (or right before, in the cephalic phase)
Your stomach mucosa is protected by a layer of mucous that is based one the COX/prostaglandin enzyme system, which is why NSAID abuse can cause ulcers.
You pancreas secretes HCO3 in response to a meal/lowering pH in your duodenum which neutralizes the acid that has been delivered to that part of the small intestines.
Changing the pH of your urine/bladder is actually quite important because people are prone to getting stones when the urine pH changes.
In short, I don't know who Tony Robbins is, but I would suggest you eat a variety of foods, both acidic and basic, and disregard what this person says.
Question: is there a way to check your pH balance (acidic and alkaline)? is there a pH balance detector i can buy
Answer: have you checked the websites for Gender selection? I know it seems weird, but they say you can pick the gender of your baby by testing these levels in your body. Anyways.... I think you would be able to order test strips from there.
Question: How can you help restore your Skins natural PH balance? I think my skin is overly alkaline, after washing my face with a bar of soap for a month. Now I've developed a weird skin condition that seems to be a case of an overaccumilation of skin cells. And I can scrape it off, as if it were dandruff (eww, I know), and my skin looks normal again. Yet the whole cycle continues.. I know it's because the soap ruined my skin somehow. What could I put on my face to restore the ph balance? I need some answers?
Answer: There's nothing wrong with your skin's pH, you've just read too many nonsense websites.
See a dermatologist if you are concerned.
Question: Does boiling alkaline water affect its ph? I'm a big fan of drinking ionized alkaline water- I want to use it for teas and soups, but I'm not sure if boiling the alkaline water will affect it's ph balance - does anyone know? Also - can alkaline water be stored without losing it's ph balance?
Answer: Heat changes the physical properties of water not its chemical properties...unless the hydrogen bonds of the molecules break, the water should remain in tact, but in gaseous form. Using pH paper or meter, you can check in the pH of the boiled alkaline water before and after boiling once it has cooled and compare...should be roughly the same.
Question: has anyone tried Alkaline and balanced PH diet? Has anyone ever tried Alkaline and balanced PH diet? are they any good?
thank you for your replies
Answer: Yes. It was great for my root system (sorry).
The Alkaline Diet sounds a lot like Volumetrics without the meat, and I know that Volumetrics works fantastically well for healthy weight.
I say do it: With all that fiber and all those nutrients, you can't go wrong.
Question: can you balance this equation into an alkaline solution? s(-2) + i (-2)-->so4 (-2) + i (-1)?
Answer: It's the reaction of a sulfite ion with Iodine, which is I2 and not I(-2). This makes the equation:
S(-2) + I2 -> SO4(-2) + 2I(-)
Since things are alkaline, just add the appropriate base. NaOH will do:
S(-2) + 2I2 + 4NaOH -> SO4(-2) + 4NaI + 2H2
Sodium is common to both sides of the equation, so write a net ionic equation instead:
S(-2) + 2I2 + 4OH(-) -> SO4(-2) + 4I(-) + H2
This is also a redox reaction. Iodine is reducing Hydrogen and the Hydrogen is oxidizing the Iodine.
Question: Why is maintaining a good PH balance important to your health? Exactly why is it? What happens if it gets too acidic; too alkaline? Why does that happen? Where can I get more information about this online? Thanks!
Answer: It is important to your health because if your body gets too far from it's safe range of temperature and pH, then you're enzymes will not work properly.
Question: Could I take Nature's Sunshine Herbs for a period of 2-3 months instead of food? I am thinking about taking herbs to bring my system back into alkaline balance. And once I get better, then incorporating foods that are alkaline gradually. I am very ill at this point and need immediate and drastic results. What kind of doctor could treat/diagnoise this suspected condition?
Answer: it would be better, as you say to go to a doctor, the specialist on this subject is a nutritionist, if he can't help you out, he will know where to send you for help... automedication is never the best answer, specially with herbs, because some of the components in natural medicine are not specified and you may be allergic or hipersensitive to some...
Question: how does someone become more acidic than alkaline? heard that if you are most likely to get a girl when your more ACIDIC

im talking bout pregnancy :o
Answer: With different vitamins.
..
Question: Redox: How do I split and balance the following equations? (MnO4)2- (aq) --> MnO2(s) + MnO4-(aq)
I'm told to rewrite the balanced overall form of this eqn in acidic solution, but from what I've learnt MnO2 is only formed in alkaline solution, so I'm really confused about that.
Cl2(g) + NH3(aq) --> N2(g) + NH4Cl (s)
I don't know how to split this one up into half-equations. Very confusing o.o
Thanks (:
Answer: ok i only figured out the first part..
1) split the equation into 2 half equations:
(MnO4)2- --> MnO2 and
(MnO4)2- --> MnO4-
2) balance each of them
i) (MnO4)2- --> MnO2
add water to balance the oxygen
(MnO4)2- --> MnO2 + 2(H2O)
add H+ to balance the Hydrogen
(MnO4)2- + 4H+ --> MnO2 +2(H2O)
as MnO2 only forms in alkaline/neutral medium, you have to change the reactants to be neutral/alkaline. So you add OH-
(MnO4)2- + 4(H+) + 4OH- --> MnO2 + 2(H2O) + 4OH-
therefore after adding electrons you get
(MnO4)2- + 4(H2O) + 2e- --> MnO2 + 2(H2O) +4OH-
simplifying it you get
(MnO4)2- +2(H2O) +2e- --> MnO2 +4OH-
ii) (MnO4)2- --> MnO4-
if you notice in this equation all the atoms etc are balanced except for the charge so all you have to do is add electrons.
(MnO4)2- --> MnO4- + e-
however the number of electrons is different from the other half equation so you have to multiply this equation by 2:
2(MnO4)2- --> 2MnO4- +2e-
therefore when you add it all together you get
3(MnO4)2- +2(H2O) +2e- --> MnO2 + 4OH- + 2MnO4- + 2e-
after cancellation you'll get
3(MnO4)2- + 2(H2O) --> MnO2 + 2MnO4- +4OH-
but you notice MnO4- cannot form in alkaline solution so you have to change it such that the end product is neutral for both MnO2 and MnO4- to exist together. therefore you get
3(MnO4)2- +2(H2O) + 4H+ --> MnO2 + 2MnO4- +4OH- +4H+
which is equals to:
3(MnO4)2- + 4H+ --> MnO2 + 2MnO4- +2(H2O) :D
question solved XD
the other part im not sure sorry xp
Question: what to do about extremely alkaline stomach pH? it is making me not digest m food properly and i now how several food allergies. is there any way to balance the pH in my stomach?
Answer: Read more on "achlorhydria"
It refers to states where the production of gastric acid in the stomach is absent or low.
Low acid levels in the stomach are linked with bacterial overgrowth (as the stomach does not kill microbes normally present in food), which can manifest as diarrhoea or decreased absorption of nutrients or vitamins.
Even without bacterial overgrowth, low stomach acid can lead to nutritional deficiencies through malabsorption of basic electrolytes (magnesium, zinc, etc) and vitamins (including vitamin C, vitamin K, and the B complex of vitamins).
A person with achlorhydria can suffer from stomach pains caused by the digestion of food that is not properly broken down by gastric acid.
This condition could be caused by, autoimmune disorders where there is antibody production against parietal cells which normally produce gastric acid, or a symptom of Helicobacter pylori infection which neutralizes and decreases secretion of gastric acid to aid its survival in the stomach.
Many health practitioners recommend meal-time supplementation with betaine hydrochloride (also known as betaine HCL) to increase gastric acidity and allow for proper digestion.
In addition to taking steps to lower the pH of the stomach, supplementation with minerals and vitamins such as vitamin B12 (which is poorly absorbed in achlorhydria/hypochlorhydria due to the absence of intrinsic factor) is usually recommended to compensate for malabsorption of nutrients.
Foods with high microbial loads (including dairy products that intentionally contain microbes such as penicillin are usually avoided.
Because the acidity of the stomach is a primary defense against infection of the gastrointestinal tract, antifungals, probiotics, and antibiotics may be needed to treat recurring infections.
Question: Is oatmeal acidic or alkaline? Any good books on the pH topic? If I am trying to maintain a balanced pH, is oatmeal acidic or alkaline? Does anyone have any good books on the ph topic?
Answer: Starches are acidic. Eat lots of vege.s to counter the acidity of meats and starches. The bookstore has good books in the diet/health section on pH balance.
