Antioxidant
Question: Can you get the antioxidant benefits of grapes from seedless grapes? I have read that grapes contain effective antioxidants. I also see grapeSEED extracts for sale. Does this imply that the antioxidant chemicals are mainly contained in the seeds, or are they in the entire fruit? (try to find seeded grapes in the supermarket!)
Answer: Darker the grapes more antioxidants they contain. The antioxidants are in the skins my understanding the seeds also contain it as will we don't eat the seeds. I have heard that some vitamin and mineral supplements use them
Question: How do you store antioxidant drinks? Does it matter if you store antioxidant drinks in glass or plastic? And does it matter if it's a clear bottle or a dark bottle?
Answer: There is some debate about which is best. Most all people consider glass safe for storage (as long as it doesn't break) and darker glass and plastic keeps more of the light out. So the "most ideal" for most people would be a dark brown/amber glass bottle that is stored in the fridge if the liquid needs refrigeration (like fresh juices, for example).
Some people are more worried about plastic leeching nutrients and damaging what's in the bottle, but there is ongoing research about if and how bad that is for sure. Good luck and I hope I helped!

Question: Is it ok to take a muli-vitamin with breakfast and then an antioxidant pill with lunch? Is that too much? Will it affect me? Both the vitamin and the antioxidant pill have a good amount of vitamin A,C, and E.
Answer: Yes you can. Don't worry about the vitamin contents of the tablets. I would say however to only take them either 5 days a week or take them on alternative days (so say monday antioxidant, tuesday multivitamin etc...). Vitamin C is water-soluble and therefore any that you don't need your body will just excrete in the urine, however vitamin A and E are fat-soluble and are stored in the liver. You cannot overdose on vitamins however much people I have seen try so don't worry.
Question: Can anybody suggest me a name for an antioxidant medicine? I own a small scale pharmaceutical company and was planning to bring out an antioxidant. But I am not able to give it any name. I'll really appreciate if you could suggest me some names which are already not registered. Please help.
Answer: And what's in it for me?
I would never buy an antioxidant remedy with a name like "Antox".
Gosh, the toxicity is just seeping from it .
A good one but for a new antibiotic.
The bloke should have it patented.
Question: What does an antioxidant do for the human body? homework question... what does an antioxidant do for the human body?
Answer: Basically, an antioxidant prevents oxidation reactions, or the transferring of electrons from a substance to an oxidizing agent. Oxidation reactions in the body create free radicals, which damage cells. Theoretically, consuming antioxidants would help prevent problems in the human body linked with free radicals, such as cancer, stroke, etc., but it has not been shown if these diseases are caused by free radicals or if they cause free radicals to form.
Question: How can you measure the antioxidant levels in blueberries? I am doing a science fair project, and want to know if it is possible for me to actually measure the antioxidant content of blueberries (or any other food)
Answer: To measure antioxidant property two methods are used:
Ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP)

Question: Does eating grapes and other antioxidant rich foods really decrease your risk of getting cancer? I heard from a friend and have read in some books that eating certain foods that are antioxidant rich (such as tomatoes, cherries, and grapes) can somewhat decrease your risk of getting cancer. I this true? I eat that stuff all the time so I wanted to know what the verdict was on that case. Also, does anybody know any other serious tips on how to decrease your risk of getting cancer? Thanks!
Answer: Please read this answer as I have a lot of valuable info even though it is long in here
Eating lots of fruits and veggies especially organic ones and raw ones is a prime way to help prevent cancer.
I feel you would greatly benefit from reading this excellent book based on 10,000 medical studies.
You can get a good used copy on amazon for only 1 cent plus $3.99 shipping-- a great value at $4.00
http://www.amazon.com/Food-Miracle-Medicine-Jean-Carper/dp/0061013307
The book is a wonderful resource for all kinds of illnesses and tells which foods prevent or cure various diseases and which lead to/promote these diseases.
It has, as far as cancer specifically, general guidelines on what to eat to prevent/cure cancer and also many different cancers. (as well as tons of other things)
For instance, the dark orange and green leafy veggies are especially important in preventing lung cancer and eating as little as 2 carrots a day greatly reduce one's chances.while colon cancer is helped/prevented by cruciferous veggies and carrots.
I got the book from my shelf to answer this more and in addition to covering, in a very interesting easy reading style various illnesses and research on different foods, it contains info on antioxidants and various types of antioxidants and which foods contain the most as well as which foods are highest in different vitamins, minerals, omega three fatty acids etc.
She has another good book called "food pharmacy" that bases the book on various foods while this one which is more comprehensive and recommended first talks of various diseases and what helps prevent them.
She has a section on antioxidants and does say they prevent various diseases including cancer.
A tip she gives is the darker the color, generally the more antioxidants it contains.
Always pick darker over lighter like black grapes over purple grapes over green grapes or red onions over yellow onions over white onions etc but also eat the rainbow trying to get some from each color group daily (red/orange/yellow/white-brown/purple-blue and green) Get lots of green especially a wide variety of leafy greens.
I also saw a film recently by Victoria Butenko -a raw food faddist for decades who cured her family of many diseases including type one diabetes, asthma, arrhythmias, extreme obesity etc by switching to a 100% raw vegan diet..they achieved perfect health but after being 100% raw for 13 years, her family stopped growing younger and started growing older again.
A huge and intensive search into various foods and animals lead her to green leafy veggies but they were hard to consume in the large amounts we need them in (40% of the diet). Finally she discovered that the awful taste could be made palatable by making them into green smoothies using a diverse assortment of greens which were rotated often combined with fruit in the smoothie. It made them taste much better.
She had miracle results and was drinking an incredible 2 gallons a day (when your nutrition is that high, you lose food and junk cravings and this satisfied her) but she said one quart is extremely beneficial. She found if just one or two kinds is used all the time, one gets sick as each leaf contains chemicals that an be toxic when used every day like oxalic acid etc. She found they are the most nutritious food containing every nutrient in large amounts except vit b12.
Some of them are as follows" kale, collard greens, swiss chard, turnips greens, mustard greens spinach, carrot tops, beet tops, radish tops, romaine, broccoli, watercress, parsley, asian greens ( a wide assortment) and wild greens like lamb's quarter, dandelion greens, burdock, etc.
The more raw foods especially produce one can get int their diet the better, and the green smoothie is the miracle higher than the average veggie.
She theorizes when we only eat 5% raw, we are absorbing just .03% of the nutrients..when we get to 50% raw, it ups to about .1% so we feel much better and more energetic..when we are going 75% raw we get about 1% of the nutrients in our food, when we are 99% raw it goes to 3% absorption and when we are 100% raw, it jumps ten times to 30%. this is when phenomenal health takes place but any step in the right direction helps
I just read this on the absorption rate yesterday and was stunned.
I once read people who added 6 cups of raw juice a day cured all kinds of diseases even with no other changes so get some juices, smoothies and green smoothies in your diet and lots of it as well as eating more raw produce and cooked produce too.
Also plant fats are healthier than animal fats which are very disease promoting. Things like avocados, raw nuts and seeds, good raw veggie oils and raw olives all help. Also get rid of milk..start making raw milks from nuts or buying soy milk, almond milk, oat milk or rice milk instead and at least go half and half while you cut back and only organic on that.
Raw is the key to health of super proportions...the more raw the better. I recently watched several videos and books where I learned so much about the miracle of raw foods.

You also want to detoxify..especially the elimination organs--colon cleansing, kidney-bladder, liver cleansing, liver bladder cleansing, lung cleansing, blood cleansing, skin brushing with cold and cold showers, mucus cleanse, etc. The colon cleanse is the most important.
Good products for this are sold at herbdoc.com by a man who saved hundreds of thousands from every kind of incurable diseases in his clinic and since.
Some good cleanses for mucus and other kinds can be found in Linda page's book called detoxification sold at her site healthyhealing.com
Her other book healthy healing is a book that every health library should have..it is my favorite book to help people with with various illnesses.
also the emotions have a big link to disease,,try to lesson sadness. worry, anger, fear and other negative attitudes and feelings and cultivate things like love, joy, trust, gratitude, peace etc
The book food your miracle medicine lists the following as places to get the most antioxidants.
See recommends red grapes over green; red and yellow onions over white; cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli raw or lightly cooked; garlic raw and crushed (a super antioxidant), fresh and frozen over canned (frozen not that great as enzymes or life force dies), extra virgin cold pressed olive oil; the deepest darkest green leafy veggies; pink grapefruit over white; whole fruits and fresh juices; fresh juices or canned (frozen ok) and deepest carrots,. sweet potatoes, pumpkins etc.
the thing I noticed when reading the book was that for almost every disease discussed, the things that often showed up in the encourage this disease were meat and alcohol and high fat foods (more animal than plant) and those often showing up in the prevent or cure category were a wide variety of fruits and veggies as well as nuts, seeds, legumes. whole grains were pretty good too.
for preventing cancer, she recommends --veggies notably garlic, cabbage, soybeans, onions, carrots, tomatoes, all green and yellow veggies, fruits especially citrus, tea, fatty fish (mackerel, salmon both wild caught or canned but not farm raised), sardines and herring are some of the highest sources veggie sources of omega three fats are flax seeds, flax seed oil, purslane, chia seeds and raw walnuts (hard to find many land sources) but chia seds are superhigh (also called salba).
Foods that encourage cancer are meat, high fat foods, veggie oils like corn oil, and excessive alcohol and ones that help thwart the spread of cancer are seafood, garlic, cruciferous veggies (like kale, broccoli, cauliflower, radish, turnip, chard, cabbage, collard greens, etc)
she also has chapters on preventing various kinds of cancer like lung, breast, pancreatic etc. Each chapter discusses in more detail the studies and why this food helps and how to take it She goes into more of the top veggie cancer fighters (too many to type) and much more.
If one can becomes a vegan and eat 5% raw foods or more, all types of cancer and every illness have been helped/cured. Go to hacres.com and read some of the testimonies.

Question: Is coffee still have antioxidant if mixed with coffee creamer? Coffee is naturally rich in antioxidant and it's really good in health. But if the coffee mix with creamer, is it still have antioxidant?
Answer: Yes, in fact it is even better for you if you use creamer...as long as it's not powdered 'creamer'. lol
Question: Is there a simple assay that could test the antioxidant content level in various foods? I want to perform a science fair project on the possible differing antioxidant content levels in fruits and vegetables before and after being cooked by various methods, but do not know how to test for the antioxidant levels in a relatively cheap and simple way.
Answer: I'm not sure how cheap it is, but there are simple assays available. I've included links to a couple of relevant articles. You'll want to visit a local university to read these, and may need a science teacher to help translate them. Basically ignore any method that uses GC, MS, HPLC, or any other method that mentions a machine you've never used because chances are you don't have access to such a machine yet.
That leaves assays that use a dye or colored substrate, which is bleached by peroxide (oxygen free radicals). The idea is, the more antioxidant there is available, the less oxygen free radical there is to bleach the dye. You will still probably need a spectrophotometer, but every high school biology lab has at least one. DPPH or beta-carotene bleaching sounds promising, but I have no direct experience doing this.
Your best bet, if you're not shy, is to make an appointment with the chairman of the biology (or biochemistry or chemistry) department at your local university, and tell them what you want to do and ask for help. They may not be able to help you, but they'll know someone who can.
Question: Looking for the name of a supplemental product sounds like homozyme. Might be antioxidant and for candida? Supposed to be some type of cure all product, but might of been marketed towards treating yeast in the blood, or candida albican, and/or as a powerfull antioxidant...I can't find it on a google search, but supposedly could be ordered online. Please I am not looking for any other product, just need to look up information on this one. Thanks
Answer: Okay, number 1: yeast in your blood stream in not normal-it is a serious, toxic and possibly deadly condition. 40% of people with yeast infections of the blood die, as it spreads to your internal organs. There are very few anti-fungals to treat a blood infection, and the ones available have serious drawbacks.
Number 2: Yeast lives in many places in your body, but there is a balance-not too much, not too little. But when your immune system is compromised, the yeast can grow out of control. For example, many women, after they take anti-biotics, get yeast infections, because not only did the anitbiotic kill the bad bacteria, it killed the good bacteria, that helps out your immune system. So, yeast overgrowth, yeast infection.
Number 3: "Cure-all" products are complete B.S. And, if there was such a product, why would it be an antioxidant and "yeast killer"? It wouldn't, because it doesn't exist, my dear.
Question: what is the most powerful antioxidant out there? Antioxidants and other cancer preventers?
anyone know what the best antioxidant out there is, I have heard of green tea, gogi berries, olive leaf extract among lots more, anyone know the best one and the best cancer preventer, I am hearing different things for vitamin D.
Answer: I believe that goji berries are the strongest plant based antioxidant, but at the same time if you eat a diet full of colorful fresh vegetables you get about the same benefit.
However, the strongest anti oxidant you can get is a chemical called DMSO (which you apply via your skin and enters the bloodstream). It's non toxic provided the dmso was pure (ie. no plastic contamination, applied to a clean patch of skin). DMSO has lots of cool properties, but one of the top 5 ones is that it's the strongest antioxidant which exists.
Question: What kind of grape is the most antioxidant rich? I'm eating black grapes right now, and I was wondering: Do they generally have more antioxidants than white (green) grapes? I heard somewhere the darker the grape the better.
Answer: The nutritional benefits of grapes are similar to those found in other berries. To receive the most nutrients from grapes, it's recommended that the seeds are also consumed. Grapes are very good sources of manganese and are also good sources of thiamin (vitamin B1), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), riboflavin (vitamin B2), vitamin C, and potassium.
They are an excellent source of health promoting flavonoids. Usually, the stronger the color of the grape, the higher the concentration of flavonoids. Grape seed extracts are rich in flavonoids known as procyanolic oligomers, and have been widely used in treating varicose veins and other venous disorders. These flavonoids are very powerful antioxidants and have been shown to reverse atherosclerosis. In France grapes and grape products, such as wine, are consumed far more than they are in America. Studies have shown that even though the French eat a diet high in saturated fats and cholesterol they have a lower risk of heat disease than Americans.
Question: My wife and I want to deduct an antioxidant drink we sell and give away as advertising. Can we do this? Monavie is the drink. We give away a lot, and drink it ourselves so that we can describe it's benefits.
How much of it can we claim as a business expense, and what type expense is it. We are using TurboTax deluxe.
We do have a proper business and a profit motive. We use business cards, printed materials, internet office and site with Monavie, but our outgo>our income when we count the Monavie we drink as a business expense. We should use it if we are selling it.
Answer: If you are in the business of selling this drink yes it is an expense for supplies or advertising. Be careful only use what you give out to potential customers not what you use yourself.
If you sell it you include all of your income. The expenses you have trying to sell it , get the word out are valid.
If these are just co workers and you are sharing what you like, NO it is not a valid expense.
If they are clients that you are shmoozing, yes it is a gift expense but no more than $25 per person in 1 tax year can be used no matter how much you give out or what it costs you. This is true for SCH C or 2106 when it is a gift.
