Appropriate Diet
Question: Will bi-daily increase in my bench press build muscle mass even though I'm not on an appropriate diet? I do upper body every other day and I increase all excercises by 5lbs each time. I don't eat a proper diet and sometimes I only twice a day. So my questions is this, with the info given, is it possible that I will gain muscle mass as I gradually increase my weightlifting amount?
What about something such as this:

Answer: You need to eat enough healthy food in order to build muscle. Otherwise your body will burn your muscle in order to feed itself, a little counterproductive. Lean protein, lean dairy, fruits and veggies. No junk.
Question: Can anyone help me with an appropriate diet? I am about 135 lbs. and 15 years old, and scrawny. I am 5'10", and healthy, but I am trying to build strength, but not gain mass. I want to stay small, but be able to man-handle just about anyone. I go to the weight room at my school, and play hockey quite frequently, but I want to know if a certain diet can build my strength without making me gain mass?
Thanks.
Answer: If you want to gain strength but not build mass as you say, steer clear of the weight room at this age, and take up strength sports which give long, lean, springy type muscles, eg. swimming, cycling, running. Weight training will bulk you up and stunt your growth.
A good, well-balanced diet, leaning towards higher protein % combined with above mentioned sport types and loads of sleep (which is the only time you actually repair and grow muscles) will yield the physique you desire.

Answer: at 88 ask small portions what ever you like try it with him im 60 and a diabetic and food start to get boring i eat just to survie make what you like and serve him he should like it
Question: how can you defend this statement, no single diet can be appropriate for every human being? I'm taking a nutrition class and all I could think of is that depending on how much the person weighs and how many calories they need to eat a day or their physical activity depends on the diet he/she needs that is appropriate for them.
does that sound right?
please help me out.
thank you.
Answer: For the most part that is correct, a diet probably should be adjusted to fit size, activity level and such for optimum health. The amount and type of food will also have slight variation depending on their current physical state of fitness. The body needs protein to build muscle, energy for exercise etc...but for the most part the human body is pretty straight up in terms of what is required to survive, grow, be healthy etc. However...
So at least in theory every human on the planet could eat an identical diet every week for their entire life with very little difference to accommodate activity level. It's also important to note that just surviving takes very few calories, and can be very coarse to boot.
I.E.
Lets say ten very different people were forced to live on this exact diet
four days a weeks 1/4 cup rice twice a day with 1/4 cup veggies and 3 ounces chicken.
three days a week 1/2 cup beans and 1/3 cup pasta w butter twice a day and 1 eggs with 1 dry toast and 1/2 small apple and 4 oz milk for breakfast.
This isn't alot, they may not get fat or gave tons of pep, but 100% of the people on the planet could stay alive and even reproduce on this amount of food. Though I think for HEALTHY babies more food would be needed.
This has plenty of protein, carbs and vitamins, supplies potassium etc... so a body, any human body could get by.
Even the variety of the above 'diet' probably wouldn't be needed to maintain life. Just 2 cups of rice per day, although vitamin deficiencies etc. would occur with just rice, but they likely wouldn't die.
Question: Should parents that don't feed their kids an appropriate diet be prosecuted for neglect? Obviously the AMA has a hard time determining the perfect diet, but Pizza Rolls and french fries 29 out of 30 days a month seems criminal to me. And their are a lot of parents that are about that careless with their children's diets.
Is that not neglect?
Answer: NOT prosecuted....but EDUCATED!!!
Question: Hi. What kind of a diet will be appropriate if I want more energy? I need to know what kind of a diet I must follow since I've decided to increase my workload in college. Does anyone have a meal-system that they already use or specific foods that they eat that successful gives them energy on a day to day basis?
Answer: Stay away from food that is real heavy!! remember that your body uses energy to burn food. This is why people always get sleepy after big meals! I would eat high carb low sugar low fat diets like pasta, whole wheat breads and rice. If you must have something sweet try natural sweets like 100% apple juice, carrot juice or grape juice.
The whole idea is to eat high energy "lite" food. As far as meat stay away from anything fried. Also chicken and fish, no red meat please!
Question: I need a healty but fast diet appropriate for a 17 year old male? I work hard for my A-levels so I need the sugar so please no ''eat one apple in the evening'' I want HEALTHY from a good source if possible and from a dietician user if possible
Answer: go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food after 7
p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on your
initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If you don't
eat wheat then you don't eat all those sticky, fatty goey cakes, you
don't eat junk food, and you don't eat biscuits. But your diet is
still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to calculate points or
to buy special meals or plans.
Question: Are these food items appropriate to eat on a diet? I'm currently working out 1 hour a day to lose weight, and do not want to throw away my effort by eating the wrong food. My question is if I can eat cheese, milk, pasta, and potatoes as a part of my diet.
I only use some cheese on my sandwich. Like Swiss, pepper-jack, cheddar.
I drink 2% milk with cereal.
I limit my potatoes each day.
I only want to eat pasta occasionally, not everyday.
I eat all of these in sensible proportions, so is it OK to eat them?
Thanks.
Answer: Anything in moderate is fine. 1% or skim milk has fewer calories, but it's still good for you. Just watch the serving size. Potatoes are good for you, but a "serving" is usually 1/2 c. And watch what you put on them. Pasta occasionally is good too, but again a serving is 1/2 c cooked.
As long as you don't go crazy eating these items, you should be fine.
Question: what diet is appropriate for someone who suffers from acid reflux?and esophagitis. ? i need a list of what to eat foods and foods that has to be avoided.if possible give me a list of what kinds of foods.

Question: AN APPROPRIATE DIET FOR 13 YEAR OLD WANTING TO LOSE WEIGHT? hey im 13 and a girl and i wanna lose some weight. I currently weigh around 100 - 105 lbs. I am 5 ft. 1 - 2 inches.
Answer: You don't really need to lose weight. If you're eating reasonably nutrious food and staying active, you are okay already. At 13 and female, you're not too far away from full grown, and for a full grown adult at that height, you're at a pretty good weight. To lose a few pounds, though, cut out the refined sugars. So no white bread or rice, no candy or sugary cereals or anything like that. And obviously no non-diet soda. Stick to whole grains (brown rice, whole grain bread, etc), and fruits and veggies, and leaner meats (chicken, lean pork, fish, lean beef). And don't eat deep fried foods, obviously, and stay away from prepared foods (if you don't know what any of the ingredients really are, then you probably shouldn't eat it!).

Question: Is a raw vegan diet appropriate for children?
Answer: if you do decide to go this route please be VERY careful & possibly even go to a dietrician who could assist you in creating a balanced diet
Not to scare you or discourage you but I read an article about a couple that was charged with murdering there baby b/c they wanted to do a strictly vegan diet & the baby died from malnutrtion (this couple also didnt belive in conventional doctors & the baby had never seen one so this may have been detremental more so then anything elso.)
how old are the children your talking about?
this may make a huge difference
soy formula could subsitute for milk based formula or EleCare which is an amino acid based formula but is nutrtionally complete (my daughter was on it for a while b/c she had a servere protien allergy & couldnt even drink hypoalleregnic formula!I I cant stress enoiugh that I would ASK YOUR DOCTOR first b/f even considering this option though!!!!)
If the children are older you can subsitute Soy, beans, lentils, ect for a meat protien subsitution - soy is actually very good for you so as long as your child doesnt have a soy allergy I dont see what the problem would be
anyhoo Defineatly see a doc - preferablly a dietrician well educated in such an area
