Question: What is the best remedy for arthritis? Im going to Puerto Rico and want to bring my mom a good home remedy for arthritis that she will be thankful and happy.
Answer: There aren't a whole lot of home remedies that work very well or for any length of time. My mom has arthritis also. What I've found that works a lot is a series of exercises called Qigong. You can find DVD's for this on Amazon. These exercises will allow the joints to stretch a little bit and provide a little bit of pain relief. Unfortunately there's still not much available for arthritis. My mom is on Medicare and has to get Remicade treatments every three months. Other than that a lot of arthritis sufferers say that acupuncture provides an amazing amount of pain relief, unfortunately it only lasts a couple days. :/

Acidic food are those meat, eggs, garlic, onion , mushroom etc. It will become worst our condition if we still continue eating this acidic food. Prevent vices like smoking and drinking alcohol. Do some physical exercise like walking, swimming and taichi . This is the best exercise I can suggest to you to reflex your joints and physical body.

Answer: Hi Mister Secret Identity,
Exercise is essential for people with 'arthritis'. As for anyone, exercise : increases 'energy levels'... helps develop a 'better sleep pattern', helps with 'weight control', maintains a 'healthy heart', increases : 'bone' and 'muscle strength, decreases 'depression' and 'fatigue'....serves to improve 'self-esteem' and 'self-confidence'.
For people with arthritis : 'exercise', is especially advantageous in regard to the joints. Moving the joints daily helps to keep them fully mobile. Added joint support is achieved by : 'strengthening' the surrounding muscles. Also, joint movement transports nutrients and waste products to and from the cartilage, the material which protects the ends of the bones.
Also : 'Glucosamine' and 'Chondroitin', TOGETHER. It takes a little bit of time, after taking it regularly.. but you'll notice a difference.
Also : 'Pantothenic Acid' may help too. I know people who take it and have seen great results.. But, after taking it regularly, it straightened up and no problems since!
>>>>
I speak as : a Nurse... as you well know from a previous question you've been asking.
Hope this helps that person out.
Thank you for your question, Mister Secret Identity. :) .. And, for a change : I do hope this person will have full benefit out of my explanation. I wish this person all the best! And, my support.
My regards.

Question: What's the best home remedy for arthritis? I have osteoarthritis and have stiff sore joints upon rising out of bed in the morning, heat helps alot, what else is good to use? mbs84
Answer: You don't give any information on your case history and the cure that you have been prescribed.
At this moment, what I can say in order not to be very long and boring, is that you can find all the information that you want in the NIH site and the FDA site, as well. You can find also the alternative therapies and food supplements, or home remedies, as you are calling them. Browse it.
Quite often they prescribe aminoacids, as an adjunctive therapy, like glucosamine and chondroitine sulfate for oral use.
Other natural remedies are the white willow, SAMe(S-adenosylmethionine), niacinamide, some proteolytic enzymes,
avocado, soybean unsaponifiables and dietary factors.
Take care to the allergies(or even BSE, if the provenience is not certified) that can cause some preparations of bovine provenience.
For online purchases, get advice first from the FDA site, to protect yourself from any incovenience.

In the University of Alabama,at Birmingham Medical Center,as I know, are using the bee's venom in the cure of diseases. Google it to find out more.
In a few words, this story has started with the observation that the old chinese beekepers did not suffer from pain(of any kind, I think) and they have related that with bee's sting and the quantity of bee venom that they were taking during their life, slow by slow.
Please, cross this information.
This is a link for the arthritis program in the University hospital of Cleveland. You can get informed and participate to the program if you wish

Question: What is the best home remedy to treat arthritis?
Answer: As a natural treatment for arthritis pain, the enzyme bromelain works much the same as COX-2 inhibitors and NSAIDS, by stopping the production of prostanoids that cause swelling and pain. In addition bromelain breaks down fibrin, a protein that can impede blood circulation and cause blood clotting, which contributes to chronic pain.
The effectiveness of bromelain as an arthritis pain treatment has been well recorded in many clinical studies and experimental models.
This is widely used by naturopathic doctors for joints, other types of inflammation, ect.
The clinical studies are mixed. I would definitely recommend doing your own research.
Edit - Also wanted to add, incorporating garlic can be very useful as well. I've posted the link at the bottom of the sources

Question: What are the alternative remedy for arthritis?
Answer: Norwegian cod liver oil is healthy and works great.
Question: what home remedy is best for arthritis? I am 54 yrs young and over the past 6 mos I have experienced pains in my knees I thought I injured them on seperate occassions but I noticed that after a long period of time the pain stopped but reoccurred mos later I haven't asked my doctor about it yet because I'm sure it's arthritis. I don't believe in taking medications for pain that is the reason for my question
Answer: You've gotten some good answers on how to minimize your joints getting worse... drink water, stay hydrated, check your diet... but if you would like to get your joints healthier, there are several natural ingredients that help the health of the joints. The most popular ones are Microlactin, Tart Cherries, Glucosamine, Chondroitin, MSM, Hyaluronic Acid, Litozin (Danish Rose Hips), and Bromelain.
The only thing to really watch out for is allergies. Glucosamine is typically from Shellfish and Microlactin is from milk. As long as you're not allergic to those, you should have no problem. Good luck!
Question: Has anyone heard about the remedy of gin-soaked golden raisins for arthritis and joint pain? Did you find success with it? I'd like to hear some success stories. A woman I know stated that it has worked for her and she has stopped taking glucosamine sulfate all together. She was a professional body builder and is now lifting weights again easily without pain.
Answer: John Kerry's wife uses it!
There haven't been any controlled research tests done on it but:
Some think it's the sulfur or sulphides used in the process of making the "white" or golden raisins. However, according to the Raisin Administrative Committee, "In much of the world, including the USA, the golden raisin is also referred to as a "bleached raisin." This is an incorrect term, as the dark raisin is not bleached. Rather, the enzymatic browning that normally occurs in a fresh grape is slowed down by treatment of sulfur dioxide gas. The raisin is preserved in a glimmering golden color. In the USA we call this a "golden" raisin."
Some think it's the juniper berries used in gin. According to Barry Lazar from montrealfood.com, "The flavour of gin comes from juniper berries. These come from conifer plants, evergreens common in Europe and North America. New berries appear in the fall and can take two or three years to ripen. They are rich in vitamin C and terpenes, the essential oil which, in large quantities is manufactured into turpentine. During the Middle Ages the berries were kept in nosegays to help block the scent of the plague. For centuries, medicinal usage favoured using them in anti-inflammatory prescriptions."
Some think it's the raisins. As stated in the Green Pharmacy Herbal Handbook on Mother Nature.com, "If you benefit from gin-steeped raisins, the raisins probably do you more good than the gin. Grapes and raisins contain many pain relieving, anti-arthritic and anti-inflammatory chemicals."
Some think it's the placebo effect. It is known that when people believe strongly in a treatment their endorphins and natural pain mediators are enhanced. Also, arthritis characteristically has periods of flares and remissions. You may attribute feeling better to the gin and raisins when it's truly due to a remission.
