Question: How much aspartame do you have to consume to experience negative side effects? I was just reading a question about Crystal Light and aspartame, and one answerer posted a huge list of physiological and mental problems aspartame can cause. My questions is, what levels of aspartame would one need to consume daily to experience these side effects? Pretty much everything I drink contains aspartame (diet coke, splenda, sweetener in coffee) and I do exhibit some of these symptoms (eye problems, for example).
That's a relief, thanks! But maybe I should switch to Splenda just to be on the safe side...
Answer: I wouldn't worry about the hogwash and urban legends on the internet...and don't believe the folks who spread it either. They'd have you believing that any symptom you have is caused by aspartame. Bogus.

Question: What is the corellation between aspartame and the amino acid phenylalanine? If you look on any food label that contains aspartame, you will see a warning in bold that states: Phenylketonurics: contains phenylalanine. I want to know why the two are related since they warn about aspartame, but phenylalanine is an essential amino acid.
Answer: Phenylalanine - Aspartame
Phenylalanine is a hidden danger to anyone consuming aspartame. Most consumers don't know that too much Phenylalanine is a neurotoxin and excites the neurons in the brain to the point of cellular death.
ADD/ADHD, emotional and behavioral disorders can all be triggered by too much Phenylalanine in the daily diet. If you are one in ten thousand people who are PKU or carry the PKU gene, Phenylalanine can cause irreversible brain damage and death, especially when used in high quantities or during pregnancy. Phenylalanine is 50% of aspartame, and to the degree humans consume diet products, Phenylalanine levels are reaching a dangerous peak.
It is important to learn about the ingredients within your foods, especially isolated amino acids like Phenylalanine. They are in combination within nature for a reason - they don't belong in isolated form for the healthy human diet.
Phenylalanine - Aspartame
Nutrition fact about Phenylalanine in aspartame:
The 1976 Groliers encyclopedia states cancer cannot live without phenylalanine. Phenylalanine makes up 50% of aspartame.
Phenylalanine is one of the essential amino acids found in proteins, but I am one of the believers that amino acids should be eaten in combination, not in isolated form. Nature provides amino acids in combination; only man isolates them for processing purposes.
Phenylalanine is found naturally in foods such as eggs, milk, bananas, and meat. If you are PKU (Phenylketonuric) or sensitive to phenylalanine, you will react to the phenylalanine in aspartame. You may want to get a blood test to check for this condition. Over the past 20 years, humans have become more aware of PKU reactions because human beings began using isolated phenylalanine to the degree it is harmful to some individuals, many as aspartame side effects. My suggestion would be to research PKU and phenylalanine extensively. Phenylalanine can be very harmful to diabetics.
Read all food labels and avoid anything with isolated amino acids. You want to buy products with at least eight amino acids in combination.
Question: What diet drinks do not contain aspartame? I've heard alot of bad things about aspartame. What diet sodas do NOT contain aspartame? A link to your source would be very much appreciated.
Also, what sodas that aren't diet don't contain aspartame?
Simply put:
-What diet sodas do not contain aspartame?
-What soft drinks do not contain aspartame?
List your sources, make the answers simple and you'll recieve best answer.
Thanks!
Idiot, I'm asking about SODA. WATER is not SODA.
Answer: diet rite. and other soft drinks made by them
Question: What foods and drinks contain aspartame? I need to avoid aspartame in my diet, so what foods and drinks contain it? Where can I find this information without reading every label at the store? Also, is it listed on the label as aspartame?
Answer: Any of the following.
"Diet" on the name Ex: Diet coke, Diet pepsi, Diet 7Up, Diet Rootbeer
"SugarFree" Ex: Sugarfree gum, Sugarfree icecream, Sugarfree yoghurt, Sugarfree cereal
Avoid all "diet" sodas and "sugarfree" gum. Most diet and sugarfree food/ drinks contains artificial sweetener which are made with aspartame.
Question: What is a good non-aspartame alternative to diet coke? I honestly like the taste of diet coke more than regular, but I drink more than I should and I'm afraid of one day developing cancer from the aspartame. I also dont want to just switch to a regular soda because of all of the sugar. The only cola I could find that seems to fit my criteria is Jones Soda Sugar-Free Cola, which as neither sugar nor aspartame, but it tastes flat and syrupy.
Does anyone have any good, high carbonation, crisp diet cola, or something similar?
Answer: You are not going to "develop cancer from aspartame"!!
Jeez, WHEN will people get a brain that allows them to THINK instead of listening to all the urban legends and bizarre scare stories on the internet??
It's perfectly safe. READ:

Question: Is aspartame dangerous and unhealthy for diabetics? I have Type 2 Diabetes. Aspartame is usually contained in diet sodas as well as nutritional waters like vitaminwater. Is aspartame safe or dangerous for diabetics?
Answer: I am also a type 2 diabetic and I found that I lost more weight and have kept my blood sugar under better control after I dumped the aspartame laiden sodas I had been drinking and replaced them with iced tea with sucralose (Splenda) and plain water. As far as the dangers of aspartame are concerned, I really cannot address that. I just know what worked for me. I've lost 45 pounds two years ago and have kept them off. My doctor says to keep doing whatever I'm doing because it's working.
Question: what is the difference between sucrose and aspartame? I want to cut out aspartame out of my diet but I've noticed that many foods contain sucrose. Is sucrose a form of aspartame? Is it just as bad?
Answer: Sucrose (common name: table sugar, also called saccharose) is a disaccharide of glucose and fructose, with the molecular formula C12H22O11. Its systematic name is α-D-glucopyranosyl- (1↔2)-β-D-fructofuranoside (ending in "oside", because it's not a reducing sugar). It is best known for its role in human nutrition and is formed by plants but not by other organisms such as animals.
Aspartame (or APM) (pronounced /ˈæspɚteɪm/ or /əˈspɑrteɪm/) is the name for an artificial, non-saccharide sweetener, aspartyl-phenylalanine-1-methyl ester; that is, a methyl ester of the dipeptide of the amino acids aspartic acid and phenylalanine.
Question: What popular foods or drinks contain aspartame? I recently read an article about the dangers of aspartame. Does anyone have a list of the most popular food and beverages that contain this?
Answer: look at the labels for "diet" and "sugar free items", that's where you'll find most of it. it can be pretty scary stuff. i read about it a while back. i think a bit here and there is okay, but going overboard on anything isn't good.
here's another site about it.........

Question: How many moles of aspartame are in the packet? The mass of a molecule of aspartame is 294 daltons. You are given a packet, the contents of the packet weigh .294 grams. How many moles of aspartame are inside?
Answer: 1/1000
Question: Is there a low calorie, aspartame and sucralose free drink out there? Every time I go to the store to find a low calorie drink, there's either aspartame or sucralose in it (I find both ingredients to be bad for your body)! Is there a drink out there that has a low amount of calories and no sucralose or aspartame in it? Does such a drink exist? LOL!
To those of you who said water, yes, yes, I'm aware that water exists, but it's nice to drink something else every once in awhile! ;)
Answer: Yes, spring water.
Question: Why does diet soda and unsweetened chewing gum have aspartame in it? Aspartame is a known carcinogen and is found in many unsweetened things, like winterfresh gum and diet soda. Why do they do this and why isn't it illegal?
Answer: It is because it is an inexpensive, non-caloric sweetener and I agree, it should be illegal to use. I will not buy nor consume any product that has any type of artificial sweetener in it no matter what kind - they are all bad for you and your health and even worse for growing kids and teens. Consume products made with real sugar - preferably natural cane sugar when at all possible, but do so in moderation. At least the body recognizes it to be a food substance and can metabolize it.

Question: What should i write about in a 5000 word essay on the chemistry of aspartame? I have a 5000 word essay due in a little over a month and i have to write it on the chemistry of of the artificial sweetener aspartame. It can do with anything relating to the chemistry of aspartame. I was just looking for ideas about what to write about?
Answer: Maybe you might consider writing about the dangerous side affects of aspartame. Such as obesity, premature births, and brain tumors.

Question: How many hydrogen atoms are in 1 mg of aspartame? If aspartame is C14H18N2O5 with a molar mass of 294.34g/mol, how many H atoms are present in 1 mg of aspartame?
If you could show a little work or explain a little, that would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
Answer: convert 1mg of aspartame to mol aspartame..you can do this by dividing weight by molar mass (note you have to convert mg to g so units can cancel)..
from the molecular formula of aspartame, you can see that 1mol aspartame has 18 mol H.
so now you can convert mol aspartame to mol H (multiply mol aspartame by 18/1)
1 mol H = 6.022E23 atoms H (avogadro's number)
so multiplying mol H by avogadro's number gives you atoms H.
*try using dimensional analysis (cancelling units until you arrive at the unit you want) for this type of problems. they'll be easier. just note the ratio between species.
*using dimensional analysis here: g aspartame x (mol asp/g asp) x (18mol H/1mol asp) x (6.022E23 atoms H/molH) = atoms H
Question: Which foods and beverages is the product aspartame in? How many different products is it in, there is some controversy over it and for now I want to avoid products which aspartame is in so, what products is it in?
Thank you!
Until I can be sure it is safe, I would like to avoid it, it's just a safety precaution for now, most likely temporary.

Question: How are diverticulitis and and aspartame linked? I have diverticulitis and have a sensitivity to aspartame (I get severe abdominal pain after ingesting it). I was surfing through some anti-aspartame sites and saw that there is link between the two things. I am just wondering where I can find more information, or if someone out there can answer the question for me.
Answer: Your body is sensitive to a lot of things....you probably would agree.
I think you need to do a colon detox. You need to clean out the pockets in your gut. Dr. Schultze has some remedies. Just do some research.
I don't think they are linked. I just know aspartame is pure poison. Your body is trying to tell you something. Diverticulitis is from years of eating junk and low fiber foods.
