Children's Vitamins
Question: Is it okay for an adult to take children's vitamins? I've tried other vitamins before, and I must confess I really like the children's gummy bear vitamins best. Is this okay?
Answer: My doctor recommended that I take two childrens vitamins per day when I had a hard time with the big vitamins (due to a throat operation). She said they would work just as well but I never really checked the stats on the two.
Question: What is the black stuff on my children's vitamins? i bought childrens multivitamins, they are like the flintstones ones except walmart brand. they are not that old, but i stopped taking them for a month or two and now i want to start taking it again, but there are black dots on the vitamins. like big black dots. is it mold? is it safe to eat still?
Answer: smell them. you'll know if they're good or not.
Question: Which Children's Vitamins are the best for a 2-yr old? I have been giving my 2 yr old the Centrum chewables and have found recently that there is Aspartame in these. What a horrible thing for children to ingest on a daily basis! So, I switched to the GummyVites and she gags on those. Is there anything anyone can recommend that is chewable and doesn't have sneaky ingredients? Thanks!
P.S. why is it so hard to find Iron in children's chewables?
Answer: we give our daughter the flintstone gummies and she loves them. However the doctor told me as long as she is getting all her food pyramids every day there really is no need for extra vitamens right now. So we usually give them to her on the days she doesn't eat so well which for her is about 2-4 days a week
good luck!
Question: Are children's vitamins nutritionally complete for adults? Or would I need to take 2? I have a really hard time swallowing pills. The taste and smell of some vitamins makes me gag. I have tried taking them with milk and even Koolaid, to try and cover the taste a bit. It never works. So, I end up not taking them consistently like I should. I thought the children's gummi or gumball vitamins might work. Any ideas? How do they taste?
Answer: Actually yes, they are nutritionally complete for adults. Look on the back of the package, it should say age 12 and under take this amount, and age 12 and over, take this amount. Hope this helps! OH yeah, children's vitamins taste way better. I love the taste of them. I would prefer them over regular ones any day.
Question: What happens when you overdose on children's vitamins? I just had about eleven of Bayer's Flintsones Multivitamins with added calcium.
So now what?
Answer: You are okay for now but You must always follow the proper directions of taking any medicine ( including vitamins ).
If You look carefully at the bottle of your multi-vitamins, You should be able to read in fine print the following :
Directions:
The best time to take vitamins or minerals is with meals. Multiples taken between meals sometimes cause stomach upset and are likely not to be as well absorbed.
2 & 3 years of age ? Chew one-half tablet daily. Adults and children 4 years of age and older ? Chew one tablet daily.
Good Luck !
Question: Is it alright if an adult takes children's vitamins? I am 20 years old and find the gummy bear kids vitamins much more appealing than adult vitamins. Also the adult gummy vitamins don't taste as good. Is this ok?
Answer: Of course!
You just might be getting a little more of one vitamin and a little less of another. They're more or less the same thing it really doesn't make a difference.
Question: Is it a bad idea to take children's vitamins when you're 25? I've loved taking Flintstones Vitamins since I was a kid. I'm 25 now - should I take more pills per day or switch to an adult vitamin?
What if I take 3 or 4 a day instead of 1?
(:-(.)--|--<
Answer: No, don't take too many. Read the bottle it says 1 dose for every age.
Question: Why Do They Add Flavouring To Children's Vitamins? To taste good? Hmmm.
What about those Children who simply cannot handle the added flavouring?
Answer: They also add artificial sweeteners which are bad for children as well.
They do it because they know that kids today are hooked on all things sweet and they can't possibly take anything which isn't sweet and sickly. This is why it's so difficult to get kids to eat their fruit 'n' vegetables.
Manufacturers have a lot to answer for. They should use natural flavourings only.
Question: Does anyone know where I can purchase organic or all-natural children's vitamins? Hi! Can you please tell me where I can purchase either organic or all-natural children's multivitamins, if possible? They do not have them at our local grocery stores or vitamin shoppes. Thank you and have a nice day!!!! Also, thanks for taking your time to help! MJ :)
Answer: This is an Australian product that you can eat yourself and your child (just a smaller dose) and I believe is available overseas.
Question: How many children's vitamins are safe for an adult to eat at once?
Answer: Two should be fine.
Question: what happens if you overdose on children's vitamins? i remember a few years ago i kept having one after another and my mom always used to tell me it was bad.
and now i'm curious, what happens if you keep having a lot of them????
im not actually planning on doing it thoughh
Answer: There are two kinds of vitamins: water soluble, which are eliminated through the kidneys, and fat-soluble, which are stored in the body. A, D, E and K (ADEK) are the fat-soluble vitamins and those are the ones on which you can overdose. It takes a real effort, however, to overdose on and of the four or a combo of some of them.
There have been cases of people taking massive amounts of Vitamin A over a long period of time. Eventually their skin takes on an orange color.
As with anything else, too much of a good thing is not a good thing.
In order to overdose on kid vitamins, you would have to take a handful or so everyday for months before you would suffer any ill effects.
Question: Can a young adult to take children's vitamins instead of normals ones?? The Children's Vitamins are nasty, but i think they're better than swallowing that huge tablet! (I have problems with tablets).
Would an adult still get the same out of the children's vitamin as she would the adults vitamin??
(I'm almost 16 so i'm not really an "adult", but I don't ever plan on swallowing those huge things unless I HAVE to (like, if I'm really sick or something)).
Answer: Adult Multi's are too much for me and make me throw up, so I still take children's multis. I dont see anything wrong with it.
Question: How do children's multi vitamins work? You see, for my Science Fair expirement I have to find out which Children's Multi Vitamin [chewable] will dissolve the fastest in 30 minutes.
But, I have no idea why or how they dissolve in the first place.
Is it a good thing if one can dissolve faster than another?
Any information would be greatly appreciated seeing how I can't find anything that would actually help me.
:) Please and thankyou.
Answer: First, for any medication, the faster it dissolves, the faster it can be absorbed and the faster it can go to work. Most tablets dissolve and get absorbed either in the stomach (acidic environment) or in the small intestine (slightly basic environment).
What drug manufacturers do for quality control testing is to make sure the tablets dissolve efficiently. What they do is put the tablet in an acidic solution that mimics the stomach (pH 1-3) and stir until it dissolves. Or if it's enteric coated or designed to stay intact until the small intestine, they put it in a slightly basic solution (pH 7-8) and stir until it dissolves.
Just remember if you set up your experiment like this to crush your chewable tablets first - just like you would if you chewed them before swallowing.
Question: What happens if you eat an entire bottle of children's gummy vitamins? I ate an entire bottle of L'il Critters (Multi-VitamVites) (around 60 vitamins) because I am an idiot with no self control. They were so good and I couldn't stop eating them. Then I went and threw up as much as I could once I realized what a moron I had been and how stupid I was for not paying attention or acting like the adult I am. What should I expect/do? Am I going to be okay?
Answer: From the Lil Critters site:
Q. My child just ate a handful of Gummy Vites. Do I need to take her to the doctor?
A. No. Gummy Vites are specially formulated with kids in mind. The excess vitamins will be naturally eliminated from their bodies. There is no iron in any of the L'il Critters products, except L'il Critters Pedia Essentials with Iron.
Question: Can you take children's chewable vitamins instead of prenatals while pregnant? I have a serious aversion to swallowing pills, which has gotten much worse while pregnant. Several people have told me that it is okay to take a children's chewable vitamin (like Flintstones) while pregnant. Has anyone else done this? Is it safe during pregnancy? Thanks!
Answer: Yes. Talk to your doctor, but most of the physicians I work with will tell women to use chewables if they can't tolerate PNVs.
Question: My 6 year old 90 pound bloodhound ate a bottle of children's vitamins early today. Should I worry? What should I do?
Answer: Tracey
Without being a vet, I'd watch him closely to see if he's showing symptoms of being sick. I guess at 90 lbs he's pretty big and will be ok I'd imagine. I'd also make sure he gets plenty of water too.
