Contact Lenses
Question: Contact Lenses? I have not worn contact lenses for over ten years, when I did they were Rigid Gas Permeable which my optician said were best for me as I have slight astigmatism. I would like to start wearing contacts again occasionally. Are these hard lenses still available?
Answer: If you only going to wear them occasionally go for toric soft lenses. If you astigmatism is about the 0.75 mark ordinary soft lenses should do the trick and are a lot cheaper. Two reasons for suggesting soft lenses. You will not have to gradually build up wearing time and they are usually comfortable straight away unlike GP's.
Question: contact lenses? i've tried it before & i just cudn't do it. I just can't manage to put contact lenses in my eyes, does anybody have any tips to help me face tha fear, as i really want them cuz i feel ugly wearin glasses.
Answer: I don't need glasses or contact lenses, but I do own color contacts. The very first time I tried them was last year at my best friend's house. What you do is:
1. Wash your hands
2. Dry them thoroughly
3. Soak contacts in solution
4. Put lense on tip of index finger
5. With one hand, pull upper lid up.
6. With other hand, use middle finger to pull lower lid down.
7. With index finger, place the lense on eye while still moist.
8. Keep eyes open with finger, and wait for 3 seconds.
9. Close your eyes for 2 seconds.
10. Open. Should be in place now.
11. If not, repeat these steps.
Practice seriously makes perfect in this situation.
Taking the contacts out is just like this:
1. Repeat steps 5-6 from above.
2. With index finger and thumb,
grasp the lense from eye so it somewhat folds.
3. Take them out, put them in solution.
ALL DONE! Good luck!
P.S.- When you take them out, you would feel "pain" or much discomfort, if at all, because the lense is protecting your eye.
When putting them IN though, it might feel cool.
Question: Contact LENSES? are contact lenses suppossed to be blurry and a bit uncomfortable when you first put them in? is it just your eyes getting used to them, or have i done them upside down? please can you give me some information as to what they should be like, and how you can tell if they're blurry because they're in wrong, or if they just dont work. any information please, i got them today and it's been a bit worrying as everythings gone wrong and i'm paying £15 for them a month! thank you! x x
Answer: hey u must have the same as me as i pay 15 pounds a month for mine too.
i dont seem to have any blurryness at all with mine, i seem to just put them straight in and everything is clear straight away!
are you catching your make-up on the lenses before successfully putting them in your eye?
i also noticed if u put the lense on the tip of your finger there is a ridge all the way around the egde of the lense, this ridge shoud be inverted so as to 'cling' onto the bit of the eye around the colour.
but if none of these things work - go to your optician as they should be clear AS SOON as you put them in!
Question: CONTACT LENSES????/? How much is a box of contact lenses?
how many boxes do i need to buy?
how long do they last?
Answer: It depends on the type of contacts you get....and also whether or not you have astigmatism. I have a slight astigmatism and they aren't treating it yet unless it gets worse. I get bi-weekly contacts (throw them away after two weeks) and for a years supply I pay $150. The amount of boxes you need to buy will be determined by which type of contacts you buy....as in daily, weekly, or bi-weekly.
Question: Do contact lenses work differently if flipped the other way? I have soft contact lenses (and basically 99.9% of people who have contact lenses have soft contact lenses, hopefully). Since contact lenses can be flipped inside out if you know what I mean... My question is... Do contact lenses work differently if I flip them the other way and then put them on, or should the contact lens affect my eye the same no matter which side is in contact with my eye?
Answer: I have soft contact lenses too! They definitely work differently flipped the other way. I accidentally put my lenses in the wrong way last night and when I blinked, they moved, it felt like they were trying to come out. It felt super weird and I just had to take them out. It was uncomfortable for me :3 they definitely work better the right way hahah
Hope I helped! X
Question: Is Freshlook Color Contact Lenses Very Uncomfortable? I have 20/20 eye vision and i've tried colored contacts before i've tried Flexwear Colors contact lenses and they feel fine. They are a little bit uncomfortable but that's maybe because my eyes get dry. I'm planning on buying Freshlook Color or Colorblends contact lenses and i've heard they are quite uncomfortable. So i was just wondering if i buy Freshlook Lenses and i've already tried other colored lenses will the uncomfortability level of the lenses be the same or will freshlook really be a problem?
Answer: Yes, its a bit of a joke in the eyecare industry, when you talk about freshlook colors and comfort, they don't go together. They have the best selection of colors but they are not comfortable. Acuvue has colors that are much more comfortable but just not quite the selection. You see, freshlook (ciba vision) puts the color on the outside of the lens so you can actually feel it on your eyes.
Question: How do colored contact lenses work without tinting your vision? I've always wondered how colored contact lenses work. Are they completely colored, or is there a clear spot in the center for the pupil?
If they are completely colored, wouldn't blue contact lenses tint your vision blue, like sunglasses? If there is a clear hole for the pupil, how does the fact the pupil changes size affect things? I would think when the pupil got really small you would see a small circle of the original eye color around it, and when it got big it would tint the edge of your vision.
Answer: there is a clear hole in the center for your pupil, so you don;t see the color unless it slides over your pupil [like mine often does]
i wear colored contacts in four shades, and yeah, when my pupil gets smaller, you can see a slight ring of the original color but the color on the contacts sort of fades at the inside edges so it almost blends in with your natural color.
i found this on google, you can see the clear hole: http://www.discount-lenses.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/goldeye2.jpg
Question: What brand of colored contact lenses look most realistic for dark eyes? I've seen some colored contact lenses on people with dark eyes and while they look nice from far away, when you get close, they look really fake. Is there a brand that blends the actual eye color better with the contact lenses color to look more natural and realistic?
Answer: It doesn't matter what your original eyecolor was.
It's your skin tone.
-Dark complexion look nice with green/light brown/grey
-Olive/Medium/Tan complexion look nice with the ones above but not blue
-Fair complexion looks nice with any eyecolor
Acuvue worked fine with dark eyes. But why do you want to cover up your beautiful dark eyes??? :)
Its what your race can actually get. If you go out of that, it looks a little unrealistic.
Question: Where could I buy contact lenses that come only in one pair? I'm planning to use contacts for just one day (special occasion) and I want to buy ONLY one pair of contacts (not those one day contact lenses that come in a 30 or 90 pair pack)...
Any help? And is the degree of eyeglasses the same as to contacts?
Answer: I think Wal Mart sells them in the one day pack. They have a eye doctor there too I think. You can try there, it might just be at super WalMart though, good luck and have fun!
Question: What color of contact lenses go good with black hair? Im gonna get contact lenses soon and im wondering if i should get colored lenses. What would go good with black hair, tan skin. I also want to know what the best brand is?
Answer: Same problem!!
Im thinking of Gray. that would look nice.
I have very dark brown hair and tan skin. and boring old browm eyes..im thinking of a change..
im also thinking of green....
Question: What brand of contact lenses should I buy to lighten dark eyes? I have brown eyes, and would like to try blue contacts. What contact lenses brand would you recommend for lightening dark eyes?
Answer: The very best blue contact lenses on the internet that I have found are
http://www.cococontacts.com/product_info.php?product_id=59694
They cover brown eyes and look amazing in photos!! It changes your whole look and makes you very very attractive and bright!
I also love the Aqua Contact lenses here
http://www.cococontacts.com/product_info.php?product_id=59696
but the Blue are darker, the Aqua are lighter.. I love them both!! and they last 90days which is way better and more affordable then the lenses that only last 30 days and cost twice as much.
So those are highly recommended by me because they are affordable, look great and cover dark brown eyes.. Soo good! I love them.
Question: How do toric contact lenses correct an astigmatism? I have just had my old soft contact lenses changed to soft toric lenses, because of my astigmatism. And the change is unbelievable. I think I am actually getting better vision from them than from my glasses.
So, how do they work to correct the astigmatism?
Answer: The lenses correct the twist imparted on light due to irregularity of the shape of the eye's lens. They are slightly weighted on one edge to cause them always to sit with the weight downwards. This means that the lens can have different thickness around the eye and it will always be aligned correctly.
Question: What is the best brand for contact lenses? The above qustion is for all the brands out there.
One more question. Out of the following brands, which is better:
1. Bausch and Lomb PureVision Contact Lenses
2. Acuvue Brand Contact Lenses
They are both offering free trials for their lenses and I'm wondering which brand is the better brand.
also if possible can you please list pros and cons of both brands. Thanks
Answer: HA the last time I got a free trial from Bausch and Lomb....two weeks later they were recalling that particular brand and people were going blind! I myself got a terrible eye infection and currently am involved in a class action lawsuit againt them!
So, with that said.....
I'd reccomend Acuvue!!
Question: Does colored contact lenses show good on people with very dark eyes? My eyes are a very dark brown and i was thinking of wearing contact lenses, but i have had someone to tell me that colored contact lenses don't show so well on people with dark eyes. Is this true?
Answer: there are two types of colored contact lenses.
color enhancers: for people with colored eyes that want to enhance the color of their eyes.
color opaques (freshlook color blends) : for people with dark eyes (brown) who want to change their eye color completely (to green, blue, aqua)
Question: How many times do you replace your contact lenses case? I'm new to wearing contacts, and I often read that contact lenses case should be replaced every 3 months to prevent contamination. I plan to take very good care of my contacts, with cleaning and storing them, etc., so hopefully, that means I don't have to keep replacing the case.
If you're a contact lenses wearer, please tell me how often you replace yours, and if you have had any problems by using the case for more than 3 months. Thanks.
Answer: I have never had to replace the case.. The lenses you do need to replace (Amount of time varies by the type of contacts and your eyes) I just replace them if they start to get uncomfortable.
Question: What to do about contact lenses being mixed up? I took my contact lenses out of my eyes tonight and cleaned them, then I put a the left contact in the left container, and then put the right contact in the left container, so they were both floating around and I realized there were two. I quickly scooped one out and put it in the right side. I have Night & Day Contact lenses, and my prescription is the same on both sides (-.150) Or something, what do I do?
Answer: if the prescription is the same in both eyes, it's not a problem.
