Question: DeHYDRATION? What are the signs that i am dyhydrated, i havent drunken anything for 2 days now and havent eaten for 3 days aswell, i am sick with vomiting every time i eat or drink and i have dihoerria aswell...
i dont even feel like drinking anymore
i have tryed powerade but i just throw it up aswell as water or anything, have tried soup, but i cant keep that down either... but can you answers this aswel...
how many days without water will make you dehydrated and when should i call the ER
Answer: Signs of dehydration include flattened neck veins, sunken eyeballs, urine will be dark amber in color and decreased in volume, dry mucous membrane, diminished skin turgor, weakness, and neurological symptoms such as irritability, confusion, and dizziness.
Complications include hypotension, risk of falls related to hypotension, and decreased cardiac output. Severe dehydration can progress to hypovolemic shock. Other complications include renal failure and without intervention death.
You should see a doctor if you are experiencing these symptoms. This may be acute or chronic. Your doctor may prescribe antiemetic for your vomitting and antidiarrheals (ofcourse for diarrhea). You will require IV fluid replacement if you can't consume adequate amounts of fluid. You should also increase your oral fluid intake. Oral fluids should be salt-free due to the elevated serum sodium level.
Question: DEHYDRATION!!!!!!!!!!? If you were stuck in the middle of ocean and were desperate for water but the only water there is, is the ocean water, and you drank it would the salty water make you more thirty and as you drink would dehydrate you more and more (and/or dehydrate you faster)????
Answer: You hear about ship-wrecked sailors dying from drinking too much saltwater. This is true--your body cannot process and pass seawater very well and drinking it should be avoided at all costs. Even a small amount will cause diarrhea, vomiting, dehydration and make you delirious. According to Mayo Clinic nutritionists in Arizona, ocean water is approximately three times saltier than your blood, which makes it physically impossible for your body to process it safely. The major problem with drinking salt water is the dehydration effect, which can lead to seizures, brain damage, unconsciousness, comas and even death.
Question: what are the signs of dehydration and long term effects of dehydration? i always have dry lips and am thirsty allot and have dry skin. someone also told me that black bags under the eyes is a sign of dehyration.

Question: How can you tell the difference between dehydration foam and rabies foam on a dog? Well I was watching Animal Planet last time and they said a dog was foaming or something and they said something about dehydration. Do dogs really foam when they dehydrate? How can you tell the difference from the dehydration foam and the rabies foam? Also, to save my points, lol, what is a good way to train my puppy to poop in a certain area of our yard?
P.S.
My puppy is not foaming! Lol
Answer: The foam they produce when dehydrated is a lot different to rabies foam. Rabies foam is quite runny and a lot can be produced depending on the form of rabies. In dehydration the saliva in their mouth becomes less fluid and more sticky a bit like your own mouth the morning after a heavy drinking session but much worse. An example of what it is like is if you put a blob of decent washing up lquid in your dry hands and rub together you will produce a foam but nothing like if your hands were wet.
Question: How do I prevent dehydration while working out in the summer? I do Tae Kwon Do, and it can get really hot and humid in the summer, when I'm working out in the workout area. It's an indoor sport, however, sometimes the instructors don't have the key to the building. We workout outside when that happens. So how do I prevent dehydration when working out in the summer?
Answer: Drink lots of water.
Question: What is the effects of dehydration and how long does it take for it to occur? Yeah, so anyone knows what the effects of dehydration and how long does it take for it to occur? Is it painless? Does it make you fall asleep? Does it make you weak?
Answer: The first sign of dehydration is thirst. Your body needs water (in fact it's mostly water). Dehydration occurs when you lose water by sweating. Your body dehydrates faster when you're exercising or when its hot (there is no set time). Being severely dehydrated causes dizziness, nausea, and can even make you pass out. If it gets to the point where you can't sweat anymore the condition is called heat stroke. It means that there is too little water in your body for it to properly function. Heat stroke can kill. Point being drink plenty of fluids if you're exercising or its hot.
Question: Is dehydration a deadly disease that can kill you? I also have another question...
Can you prevent dehydration from killing you, if you are already diagnosed with it, by drinking a LOT of water?
Answer: Well yeah it can kill you because you need water to live
although its not a disease cause you cant 'catch it' and you cant give it to someone else.. well you can if you wanna not give them water?
drink water but dont bloat yourself with it so much that you explode because if you overdrink you can die!
the normal amount to drink every day is 2 litres!
eat watery foods! like lettuce, juicy fruits..you know the usual =P
Moisturise your skin because it will be dry if your dehydrated
And yeah, you wont die from it straight away you'll only die when you havent had water for like 2 and a halfish weeks or so..
Sooo..... try to drink water!
Also keep out of the sun and windy weather because you dry up in it!
You can tell if your dehydrated by if you have dry skin, headaches, and when you pull the back of your knucles/fingers back and if it stays in place then your dehydrated
so, good luck and keep hydrated! =]
Question: What is the pathophysiological relationship between DEHYDRATION and FEVER? I'm aware of how FEVER can cause dehydration but not the other way around. The only reason I ask is because my nursing professors cannot answer this question even though we've talked about it in obstetrics theory. IF any of you have healthcare experience and know about this I'd really really appreciate your response.. THANKS!
Answer: Check out this physician report on http://www.ch.missouri.edu/Education/STUDENT SYLLABUS. And if that link doesn't work, go into Yahoo search and put in Pathophysiologic relationship of fever and dehydration. This article is a wealth of information. I clicked on Objecives (PDF) when all the results came up. So, the information is out there for you.
Hope this was helpful.
Question: What is the link between osmosis and dehydration? I have some questions on dehydration and osmosis.
Where within the body is the problem?
What tissues or organs are involved?
How is it linked to osmosis?
Why does it happen?
To redefine these questions:
How does osmosis play a role in dehydration/ electrolyte imbalance?
What organs or tissues (besides the kidneys) are involved with dehydration?
Answer: Dehydration: lack of water in your body.
When some tissues are starting to lack the liquid they try to absorb this liquid from surroundings, any way they can. (The normal way would be with the blood flow) The chemicals that are dissolved in the surrounding liquid also go with it.
Osmosis happens because of the chemical potential and because cell membranes are semi-permiable for small molecules.
Question: How can I prevent dehydration while on a swim team? I recently experienced some pretty bad dehydration at a swim meet, to the extent that I couldn't swim in one of my events. I didn't eat much that morning (I couldn't keep anything down due to nerves) and I hardly had anything to eat or drink at the meet. I know that drinking water is very important, and I try to do that. When I drink sports drinks, like Gatorade, they seem to make me have to pee very quickly. Is there any way I can help prevent dehydration?
Answer: The best thing is to drink lots of water. It will take a couple of days to properly hydrate your body for peak performance. Because, as you noticed, most of it will leak out. Steer clear of carbonated beverages and caffeine (coke, pepsi, etc. are double whammies.) Also note that you can take in considerable amounts of fluids eating; for example, potatoes are about 90% water. Adding salt or sodium to your diet will cause you to retain more of your fluid intake, as well as potassium rich food such as bananas. It also sounds like you might be susceptible to cramping if you're dehydrating easily, so make sure you do lots of stretching.
Question: What is the best way to avoid dehydration? I happen to sweat a lot and I'm getting a job where I have to work outside. I'm in Michigan, and it is pretty humid around here sometimes, and I know I'm going to be sweating. I am a little concerned about heat exhaustion/dehydration. What can I do to ensure that I avoid these things?
What about Potassium pills or something like that???
Answer: I live in south Texas and used to pour concrete...
Its humid to say the least here...
Water is your best bet. gator aid if you must... but water is best. I had one of those bike rider water back packs with a tube that connected with your helmet or collar so you didn't need hands... Its best for saving time on the Job... you can drink when ever and the boss man don't think your just taking breaks to be taking them
Drink alot of water... avoid salt...
I dunno...
Question: When does dehydration during pregnancy become serious enough to go to the hospital? I've been sick to my stomach for a couple of days. Unable to keep anything down at all today. Whenever I drink even a small amount of water, I get sick to my stomach. What are the signs of dehydration? I'm 31 weeks pregnant & worried. Thanks!
Answer: Contractions are a sign of dehydration also if you pinch your skin on your hand or arm and the skin remains that way then your severally dehydrated it can be dangerous to you and your baby maybe call the hospital to see if they want you to go in
Question: What causes dehydration in a person if they drink 6 glasses of water a day? My 72 year old mother was diagnosed with dehydration when she had a bad chest cold and could not breathe. She drank 6 glasses of water that day as she does every day.
Answer: Many things can cause this especially in the elderly. First off your grandmother's skin is quite a bit more thin then yours. This lets out water more easily. The recommened water intake is 8 glasses. Another thing is as you grow older your kidneys have a harder time concentrating the urine so more water escapes. Plus you do not produce quite as much ADH or antidiuretic hormone. And then on top of all that if she had diarrhea or if she likes to control her bowels with laxatives that draws more fluid out of the blood stream.
Question: What products out there are good for cats who have/had dehydration problems? My cat went into the hospital for dehydration last night. Are there products out there that can help with this? Preventative. Thanks Like electrolights in dry food or something else along those lines.
Answer: Some cats just do not drink much water and these cats are more prone to urrinary infections and crystals. The treatment for these conditions is special food like CD or SD and these same food have and ingredient that makes cat more thirsty and hopefully will cause them to drink more.
Yes adding warm water to canned food or tuna will help him drink more.
Question: What are some symptoms of dehydration in a two year old? Yesterday morning my son woke up with a high fever of 102.7. I took him to the ER. He was diagnosed with having Herpangina, sores in the back of throat, also known as hand-foot-mouth disease. Doctor said to watch for Dehydration, cause the sores are very painful when drinking and eating. So I'm just wondering what I should be looking for just to be on the safe side.
Answer: My 2 year old had that not long ago...and my 5 year old DID get dehydrated when she was 18 months old. THe signs were that she totally stopped drinking and making wet diapers....then she went to sleep in the afternoon for three hours....that was it...it was that fast....not much warning at all. The doctor came and made me syrrnge water into her mouth....eery 5 or 10 minutes and she recovered...the doc said tht if she never recovered after one hour then she would have ad to go to hospital to be put on a drip. My advice i this....if e refuses to drink, then take one of those medicine syringes and shoot a little water down his throat every ten minutes...as long as he does not throw it up and he pees regulalry he will be fine.
The hand and foot and mouth disease is horrid but my 2 year old never gt dehydrated. Good luck hope he is better soon.
