Answer: God created our bodies to cleanse themselves with dietary fiber we get from food and water we drink.
There is no need for "detox" - someone is just trying to make money telling otherwise.
Question: About Lemon juice detoxification/rejuvenation diet? Hi Yahoo,

Question: Detoxification Diets....Do they work? I have been hearing alot lately about detox diets. Do they work? And What what are some websites where I can go to find more info?
Answer: Most detox diets involve fasting for 7 or more days. All this really does is slow or shut down your metabolism and cause you to lose water weight. In order to keep things moving, most detoxes encourage you to use enemas or laxatives. The most popular is the "master cleanse." Beyonce did this to drop a lot of weight fast for Dreamgirls, so it's come back in popularity:

Other detoxes include:

(the last one is actually sensible)

Question: When doing the Juice Detox Diet can you still take vitamins/tablets/capsules/supplements ? A juice fast is a type of detox diet. A juice fast involves the short-term intake of raw vegetable and fruit juice and water only. Proponents of juice fasting use juice because it's thought to be a good source of vitamins and antioxidants.
A juice fast is considered an extreme form of detoxification because no solid food is consumed. More moderate detox methods, such as the detox diet include solid food.
Answer: Don't do detox diet. It's a great way to f*ck yourself up for real. I still want to know who decided that malnourishment and malnutrition is the best way to have a sexy body.
Question: Looking for Liver Detox Diet? When I do a search for a liver detox diet most of what I find are ads trying to sell me tablets or teas. Does anyone know of a good liver detoxification diet? I had one many years ago but have since lost it. It had to do with fasting and drinking lemon juice, etc....
Answer: The Recipe for the Ultimate Liver Cleanse!
Serves 2
* 2 large grapefruits
* 4 lemons
* 300ml of distilled water (or filtered)
* 2 tablespoons of Udo’s Choice (or cold pressed flax oil
* 1 teaspoon of acidophilus
* 1-2 cloves of fresh garlic
* 2 inches of fresh root ginger
* Optional: a dash of cayenne pepper!
Directions
1. Squeeze the juice of the grapefruit and lemon into a blender
2. Next, grate the garlic and the ginger, and then using a garlic press, squeeze this into the juice
3. Now add the water, Udo’s and acidophilus powder and blend for 30 seconds
4. Add more ginger/garlic to taste
This juice contains all of the most potent liver cleansing ingredients, and gives your liver a gentle flush and the opportunity to heal itself. There are no side effects to this drink, apart from a bit of garlic-breath for a while. However, the grapefruit removes most of the odour.
Rumor has it that this is the most incredible hangover cure in the world - so it might be worth bearing in mind just for that! It contains everything you would need to cure a hangover (vitamin c, omega 3, probiotics, water, ginger) so I can see how it would work!
Question: detoxification..or not...? what are some good things and bad things of staring a detoxification diet..? and can you juss start the diet one day or do you have to ease into it..?
and do you think this would be a good way to lose weight
Answer: When you detox your body, you release harmful impurities that are in your body due to all the toxins found on our food, our environment and all around us. When you gain fat in your body it serves as a protective barrier from the toxins that in your body from are environment. Scientist are discovering that a lot of these toxins are causing certain diseases, cancer and other infirmities.
The fat absorbs the toxins. When you detox you release the toxins from you body and you naturally lose weight.
I use the Isagenix fat and burn cleanse. You can cleanse your body in 9-days or 30. For more in-dept information on Isagenix go to http://louisquezada.isagenix.com/

Question: Is my diet healthy and what else should I do? Have I plateaued? I used to weigh 280lb, I started exercising and in about 4-5 months I lost 27lb, went to 253 and now weigh 255.5.
I think the exercise has done all it can without me changing my diet much, so a few days ago I went on a 1500'ish calorie diet and started keeping logs of my food consumption and weighing in every week.
Here's what a normal days worth of meals looks like for me as of now.
Breakfast: 300-400 calories
Kashi go lean vanilla oatmeal
Banana
Lunch: 300
Tuna sandwich on whole wheat bread
some veggie potato snack things
Dinner: 300-500 calories
Chicken noodle soup
Diet soda
More veggie snacks
Maybe half of a sandwich or some vegetables.
It has been varying, but usually I stay 100-200 calories below my 1500 limit bringing my average to about 1350 calories a day.
I drink a gallon of water a day religiously.
I run three miles three times a week, going to bump it up to four in the next couple of weeks.
My goal weight is 200-210 pounds.
I weigh myself weekly on Sunday, usually right before bed or as soon as I get up and record the weight. The reason I think I have hit a plateau is because my weight now fluctuates between 253-259 and my pant size has comfortably settled at 38 waist.
Is my diet healthy enough, and what else should I do to give myself a little boost with the weight loss and motivation.
Please do not recommend any cleansing/detoxification diets or alternative medicine, and please be above 18.
Thanks.
As I said before, I am not interested in any berry/detoxification diets as they are a waste of time and money. I am looking for ways backed by medicine and science to overcome my temporary problem.
Thanks for all the replies, one thing I would like to add is that my diet is not a daily dose of soup, potato snacks, and diet soda. That was just one day to give you an idea of general portions.
I appreciate all the responses, still looking for more.
Thanks.
Answer: wow! Ok well first of all, good job! So few people can actually stay on a diet and exercise regularly! That's awesome, good for you!
Ok, well the thing that really popped out at me was the diet soda. Yeah, it's diet, but it's still not good for you. I think a healthier substitute could be natural orange juice or homemade lemonade. The soda has a bunch of empty calories that help you in no way. Just an idea..
Also, omg great job on the gallon of water.. omg i'm lucky if I can drink 5 glasses a day =/ it's soo hard! =)
I think maybe you need to eat more fruits and vegetables?
Something that both my mom and I have done is made vegetable juice in a juicer and drinking it at least a few times a week.. It's really gross. We would usually put in it carrots, celery, cucumber, spinach, beets, etc.. It's really healthy and good for you and much easier than eating the yucky vegetables.. ok it takes some time to make the juice, but so worth it! She went on a diet where she drank juice every day, sometimes more than once a day, and she was losing about 3lbs per week, which is good and healthy.
Also, make sure you eat a lot of fiber.. you can try eating Fiber One cereal. I really like it and eat it by itself as a snack.. you can add it to any cereal and it has over half of the ideal amount of fiber you should consume each day.
I recommend some weight training to build some muscle, after all muscle helps burn fat.
Also, make sure that even though you are trying not too eat too many calories, that you don't starve yourself.. it doesn't help you in the long run.
That's all I can think of.. good job though.. it takes a while to reach your goal weight. Congrats and good luck =)
Question: Can weight training cause old negative emotions to surface due to the detoxification or break down of fat? I know that when you detox through fasting or eating a raw diet old emotions can surface. I am wondering if weight lifting can cause the same symptoms because you are breaking down fat so quickly.
Answer: I have never heard of weight training causing those effects. I'm not sure it's the same. When you detox you're detoxing your organs...not burning belly fat. Proper energy flow and energy blockage are often related to toxins. Energy blockages, or dams, are where your emotions would be coming from, not the fat cells themselves. These can be caused by your skeleton being out of alignment also. So if you work out and you shift a vertebrae back into place you could end up releasing a "dam" of emotion. Or you burst a bubble of emotional energy inside a toxic site same thing. Hope this helps....
Question: detoxification diets? ? does anyone have any suggestions or experiences with any detox diets? i dont want to lose weight i just to sort of clean my insides out i guess without laxatives haha
any ideas? are detox diets good or bad?
Answer: Yes I used the one that came in the booklet with the 'yeast buster kit' because I had chronic yeast issues and doctors were clueless. It worked for me and helped me to get my blood sugar under control. I am usually really cranky if I am hungry, but after that diet, I was fine. It was so nice. Oh and my yeast issues are much better now too.
Question: Why is soy the only vegetable that we hear has health risks associated with it? With all the new research suggesting that soy has health risks associated with it:
http://www.westonaprice.org/soy/index.html
http://www.healingdaily.com/detoxification-diet/soy.htm
I am curious why I have heard nothing bad on any other vegetable.
Answer: Most of the soy we consume (especially in America) is highly processed. It is easy to process soy into products that don't even resemble vegetables. Companies isolate chemicals from soy and use the chemicals, not the whole food.
It's much harder to make a veggie burger that resembles meat out of, say, broccoli. I think the reason we haven't seen reports on the health risks of other veggies is because for the most part, we use other veggies in a sensible way.
I think that most of the risks associated with soy result from the bizarre ways in which we use this otherwise healthful legume.
Question: Is fasting for just 24-36 hours for detoxification effective? I maintain a healthy diet already, but I feel like my body could use a little cleansing. I'd like to start out with a manageable fast because I know my belly is going to be rumbling after the first 6 hours, so any suggestions? I was also thinking of making it a juice fast, but what juices are recommended?
My goals for this fast are for detoxing, not for weight loss.
Answer: grape fruit juice
Question: Is body detoxification real? Lots of naturopaths, "experts", and sometimes doctors claim that the body goes through a detoxification process when you undertake certain processes, such as changing diet, fasting, etc. Is there any proof that the body actually rids itself of toxins, and that it goes through symptoms in reverse order of occurrence?
Keep in mind that it is common knowledge that toxins and metals are stored on fat, and that losing weight will eliminate these. Detox is also practiced by drug and alcohol addicts who want to come clean, and this is common practice.
Answer: It sort of depends on how you define detoxification. In the strict medical sense, the process of removing "toxins" happens on an ongoing basis. That's a job for your liver and kidneys 24/7, and why it's so deadly if your kidneys or liver fail. As far as the heavy metal type things, removing those from a human body takes real effort. Some toxins are stored in fat, yes- but the most dangerous ones actually are stored in bone and other tissues of the body where they will stay for the most part. Keep in mind, losing weight removes excess fat, but the original fat cell still remains behind as well. You do not lose those, you just sort of deflate them. The process to remove heavy metals and other toxins is properly called chelation. It has to be done in the hospital, using some really nasty chemicals that can only be delivered through an intravenous line. You have to be constantly monitored through the entire process, and they just don't even try it unless there is a real threat to your life if they don't. There isn't anything you can eat or drink that will do it, and if you think about it, that makes pretty good sense. How in the world can you eat or drink something strong enough to leach anything out of you body, and still have it safe to eat or drink? Not, and that's why it's all such a scam. Most of the stuff they sell for "detoxing" is nothing more than a fancy and expensive laxative, although I have seen some preparations that were primarily clay. Now, the colon is a self cleaning set up, well designed to do the job if you eat decent food. There aren't any pockets in there, unless you have diverticulitis- in which case you may have pockets. Diarreha still isn't anybody's friend exactly, and is the last thing a person with diverticulitis wants to have. You just aren't a walking bag of toxins, honestly. The clay stuff won't necessarily hurt you, as the body just doesn't do anything with clay particularly. It's usually kaolin clay. That is the stuff that puts the "K" in Kaopectate by the way. You know what that's for, I assume? The human body is actually very well designed, and functions quite well without our "help". I know folks all yell about pesticides and toxins, and yes- we could certainly do without those things no doubt. However, most of the trace minerals and even vitamins are actually toxic in large amounts. You can kill yourself with enough vitamin A, and too much iron will clog up the pipes. So even when things are good for us, in large amounts they are not healthy either. The detox that alcoholics and drug addicts experience doesn't quite refer to the same thing you are talking about. In that case, you are trying to work with the body while it cleans it's own house. You do not dump in things to hurry the process along. It's a matter of waiting for the liver and kidneys to do their job. Honestly, the best way to keep yourself healthy is still the oldest prescription in the world, and one grannie could have told you without the need for a medical degree. Eat right, decent foods in reasonable amounts, heavy on the whole grains, veggies and fruit- easy on the sweets, meats and fat. Exercise to stay in good shape, and generally lead a sane lifestyle. The key is moderation in all things, and if it isn't broke- don't try to fix it. If you do these things, the only part of you that needs cleaning is the outside of you, and then with mild soap and water only. Save your money, and instead of buying the overhyped detox stuff, just buy good old food.
