Digestive Health
Question: Why is there no section for Digestive health? You've got a section for men's and women's health, optical, dental, alternative, etc. etc > but how come there is no section for digestive health? A lot of people suffer from digestive issues and it seems unfair and a little bias that they would leave that out.
well personally i think the digestive system is just as important as optical, and dental. Its not like its any less important then the ones they already have listed.
Answer: If you post your question in the Forum then Yahoo! staff will see it as they scrutinize the Forum but not the Main Board. They often post a comment below a question in green to say that they have noted the question and sometimes they even post an answer.
Actually a lot of other new sub-sections could be created as well as most sections are getting too big.
Question: What can one take for digestive system health? Read that most of the immune system depends on the health of the digestive system.
Any recommendations?
Thank you!
Answer: crypto power chlorella is great , it is considered a superfood , it is a whole food which is great , and it causes your friendly flora to increase , it is 22.00 for a bottle of 300 , I do not sell it btw , it also normalizes blood sugar in a 2 or 3 months taking 15 or so a day , it is very blood cleansing also , it
has a lot of chlorophyll in it , it replaces many isolated supplements since it is packed with most of what the body needs , also get a good multi probiotic like pb8 , look up pb8 on yahoo search ,
pb8 is 8 different strains of live cultures , when I took antibiotics , pb8 brought my digestion back to normal

Question: Is flatulence of a bad odor a sign of bad digestive system health/hygiene? Somedays, when i eat more pungent food, or non vegetarian food, the next day, my flatulence is of a bad (sometimes terrible) odor. Is it an indication from my body that such foods are not recommended for me? Is it an indication of bad digestive system health/hygiene? Answers would be appreciated, i wanna get rid of stinky farts!
Answer: Some foods will cause more flatulence than others will. I have to be careful sometimes, because it can really cause problems if I eat the wrong stuff! But seriously, the flatulence is caused by the colon trying to relieve the pressure. It's the bacteria in your system expelling waste products (like feces almost), and it causes the bad smell. Some vegetables and other foods high in fiber can cause this. But, if you find that certain foods cause you major trouble, then avoid them for a while to see if there's a change.
Question: I have been Using Align to help my Digestive health? I have been Using Align to help my Digestive health. Will another brand do the same? I really need something that is cheaper with the same results Align is expensive. Thanks
Answer: So long as it has the same active ingredients, you should give it a shot. I don't know of any generic Align, but look what's next to it in the supermarket or pharmacy. Usually, they put like things together, and you'll be able to compare apples to apples. Try the cheaper brand, and if it works, go with it. Also, don't listen to the "I recommend you to see" guy. He's a spambot.
Question: Does anyone know a Catholic Prayer for Digestive Health? I know this may sound really stupid, but I have been plagued by digestive troubles for as long as i can remember, and I've tried all the medicines without success. I'm convinced only the grace of god can get rid of this! It would just be nice to know a real prayer for what I'm asking. Thanks!
Answer: Not to knock my Catholic upbringing, but any prayer/conversation with God is acceptable. Catholics don't have a monopoly on prayer.
Have you tried ruling out food allergies, celiac disease, chrons disease, or IBS?
Question: What is the recipe for lemons for digestive health ? I read about it but can't remember how much to use.
Answer: Doesn't matter, no amount will make any changes to your digestive health. Lemonade is not a magically health elixir.
Question: How to get rid of Digestive Health Issues? After I ate a large meal today, I kept on burping after it. I have a massive fear of throwing up every time my stomach hurts. Everyday, I burp frequently throughout the day. I'm only 12, so I don't know what's happening.
Answer: might be acid reflux, do you drink while you are eating? If so, try eating your meal then about 10-15 minutes later you can drink something. Drinking while eating dilutes digestive enzymes. also add more fiber to your diet like fruit and veggies. You should tell your parents to take you to the doctor, you might need prilosec. Drink ginger ale if you feel like throwing up.
Question: What is aloe vera and why is it important for digestive health?
Answer: Part of the Asphodelaceae family, aloe vera is a genus of plants with nearly 400 species spread throughout Africa and the Mediterranean region. One such species, aloe vera, grows up to four feet in height with tough, thick leaves long used for medicinal purposes. Aloe vera gel, derived from the inner part of the leaf, is a familiar remedy for cuts and burns. The juice located between the outer skin of the leaf and the gel is known as aloe latex, and has been found to promote digestive health, soothe ulcers, heartburn, constipation, and other digestive problems when used internally. The ability of aloe latex to stimulate bowel movements and balance the stomach's acidity has made it a safe natural solution for treating digestive discomforts and aiding digestion. Also, the healthy digestive tract promoted by aloe vera allows for greater nutrient absorption, boosting your body's overall health.
Question: Flax seed or flax seed oil seems to be the buzz for helping digestive health. How can I work it in every day? I don't know much about it. Do you add it to your food? Can you cook with it? Any suggestions?
Answer: You can buy it in capsules if you want. Take a couple after breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Question: Can eating sunflower seeds every day pose any digestive health problems?
Answer: your more like to have a flower growing in your stomach
Question: Are there any supplements for digestive health? i have almost constant stomach aches, diarrhea or constipation, etc. my doctor has tested me for various diseases and conditions all of which come back normal. i AM lactose intolerant and my doctor now believes that i probably have IBS, but hasnt offered any kind of treatment. I take lactase enzyme when i eat dairy, i take papaya enzyme after i eat, and i take acidophillus daily. is there anything else i can take to help alleviate my symptoms?
Answer: I'm told that not all acidophilis is created equal - some is sterile and cannot colonize to bring the intended protection. Dr. Nan Kathryn Fuchs advertises a probiotic that is not "a cruel hoax." I'll probably try it.
A doctor who charges $95 for a 15-minute phone consultation told me about three things to take, and they do seem to be helping: Bioset DIGESTION, an enzyme supplement; ALOE IMMUNE; and E-lyte CHLORELLA.
I'm also trying COLOTOX. They don't tell you, but you shouldn't take it for longer than seven days in a row - it has cascara sagrada in it.
I'm seeing a gastroenterologist in February. That's a resource I just learned of, though my earlier doctors knew about my agony for the past five years. We'll see what that turns up. Someone told me today that there truly is treatment available for IBS. She said that I should work with a naturopath if I hit a dead end with the other specialist.
Good luck to both of us!
Question: Cayenne pepper for digestive health? I started taking cayenne capsules for digestive health, one with breakfast and one with lunch. But all they've done is give me heartburn. Can someone explain to me exactly why capsicum is good for you, and whether my body will get used to it and the acid reflux will go away?
Answer: Cayenne is used for stomach ulcers, not acid reflux. For acid reflux why don't you try Papya Enzymes. You can purchase them at Wal mart for a few bucks or at any vitamin or health food store. Papaya enzymes aid with digestion and are very helpful for acid reflux. They are very tasty - just chew a few up before eating or if you get heartburn/acid reflux.
Do a websearch on "health benefits of papaya enzymes" and read through the listed sites.
Question: Gross question about digestive health-can you help? I am going to first say that this may seem gross to people but it is an honest question:
for the last week I have had sweet smelling bowel movements. I have these on occasion. What causes this and should I be concerned?
Answer: Has there been any changes in color? Have you recently started taking any medications? Is there any blood present or do you experience pain during bowel movements? Have you been intaking an excess of sugar? This could be diet related. If you are interested in trying something before going to see a doctor about this, I would recommend a colon cleanse. You can get them online through a site such as amazon.com or in a walmart/target or Walgreens/CVS etc...
Question: best probiotic for digestive health? what's the best kind of probiotics for digestive health?
Answer: Unless you have had your enteric flora completely wiped out by massive doses of antibiotics then this won't improve your digestive health. There are some studies that support using this to replace your body's intestinal flora but it isn't as effective as replacing your flora with a sample of your own flora. Each person's bacterial flora is actually a little different from everyone else's.
Also, the boosting immune system claim is actually wrong since there is no way to boost your immune system. It just doesn't work that way. What these product do, though, is induce an inflammatory response. There is a link to prolonged inflammation and endocarditis, so taking probiotics might actually be bad for you.
Hear Dr. Mark Crislip's excellent episode on probiotics in his quackcast podcast. He refers to the medical literature that the above information is based upon, and this is a basic summary of the information in his podcast 'article'.
To your health, friend!
Question: What are the best vitamins to take for digestive and stomach health?
Answer: Vitamins do not "aid" digestion, the stomach or any other prat of the body. There are just a part of the total nutrition picture. Most adults eating a balanced diet get all the vitamins they need and again vitamins don't "aid" anything.
Question: Is it true that drinking a VERY mild bleach solution can be beneficial to the health of your digestive system? I'm sure I've seen this somewhere before, but I can't find any evidence either for or against in on the web. Bleach is after all just chlorine, and the body has far worse chemicals in it that than!
Answer: NO!
bleach is not only bad for your digestive system, it will kill you!!
there are bacteria in the human digestive system that are absolutely nessecary for a healthy digestive system - if you drink any amount of bleach, weak or not, they will die and this could potentially be very bad for your health.
