Dmae

Question: What exactly is DMAE, does it really work to improve memory, and if I take it now how long until I see results I have heard a little about this and I would like to use it to retain information better but it kind of seems too good to be true. Are there any side effects? Does it actually work? Does it hurt development in any way? I'm a 17 year old and I would really like to do GREAT in school for my junior year. Is it a good idea? Has anyone tried it? Tell me what you know please!

Answer: Dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE) was a prescription drug for ADHD-like symptoms until the 1980s when it was withdrawn because of lack of proof of effectiveness and safety, and it is now available as a dietary supplement. As was true in the 1980s, there still isn't enough evidence about effectiveness or safety to recommend it.
