Fish Oil Supplement
Question: Is fish oil supplement making my skin oily? I started taking a high quality fish oil supplement about a month ago. It seems like my already oily skin has become even more oily. Would fish oil cause this? Is there anything that I can do to cut down on the oil formation? My skin on my face and body is constantly greasy!
Answer: It's possible. Fish Oil does help with skin health, and for some people, that means that their skin will produce more moisture... but for some people, that might be too much support.
If you don't like the effect, stop taking the Fish Oil and see if it clears up within a week or so. If it clears up within a week or so, it was probably just too much support for you. If that's the case, you could try a smaller dose for the other benefits from Fish Oil. Good luck!
Question: Should I take a fish oil supplement to help my acne? I was considering taking a fish oil supplement to help with my acne, but what are the side effects?
I read that they cause gas, but does that mean farting, or just burping?
And is there a way to not smell like fish if you burp while taking this?
Also, will the fish oil cause an increase in my oil production, because I already have very oily skin.
Thanks.
Answer: Fish oil pills... They cause really bad gross fishy burps, and bad smelling farts. But mainly burps. Iwouldnt recamend taking any though. Expeshioly for acne. Use tothpaste on your zits. And find a nice face washing brush and cleanser like clearisil or clean and clear, that will help your acne out. :D hope i helped. good luck.
Question: Why do some high grade fish oil supplement dissolve styrofoam? I did an experiment with a high grade, high concentration fish oil supplement capsule. I took a cup of luke
warm water, put a piece of styrofoam in the luke warm water, and put a
capsule of fish oil in the water. I found that the fish oil actually dissolved the styrofoam, when the fish oil is released from the
capsule.Does anyone know what chemical reaction is taking place here?
Answer: its not a reaction. its just a solid dissolving into a liquid. styrofoam dissolves in most oils including gasoline. industrial glue works too.
this is because foam is a non-polar polymer. it dissolves in non polar solvents.
the result is usually a viscous and sticky fluid that is highly flammable and reminiscent of napalm.
Question: Can you recommend me a good omega 3/fish oil supplement for my cats? I'm looking to get an omega 3/fish oil supplement for my cats that I can mix in with their canned food. (Blue Buffalo Wilderness if it makes a difference.) Both of my cats are older males (one is probably 11-12, the other about 9). They're not particularly picky eaters. Any recommendations?
Answer: I agree with Susan. Nordic Naturals is one of the best out there. I like their filtration process. Cheapest I've been able to find them is iHerb; if you go with them, there's a $5 off code: PIR752. BTW, kudos for even thinking to ask this question. Most pet owners don't know enough about nutrition to realize they need omega threes and the like.
Question: Is it okay for a teenager to take a multivitamin and fish oil supplement every day? Well, I'm 16, 17 next month, and I've been thinking about taking a 1000 mg Fish Oil supplement (Sundown) to help with my dry eyes. I'm already taking a multivitamin. Is this okay?
Thanks!
Answer: You absolutely can!!! I too have dry eye and fish oil helps me so much. It nourishes your eye, gives moisture and helps with inflammation. And that's just for your eyes. Its also amazing for your whole entire body. Good luck, dry eye can be so difficult sometimes.
Question: Should I take a flaxseed supplement or a fish oil supplement? I am trying to incorporate more omega-3's into my diet and I am currently taking a 1300mg supplement of fish oil daily. Should i switch over to flax seed oil? How many mg of Flax seed oil should I take daily? Am i taking too much fish oil mg's daily? if so, then how much mgs should i take daily?
Answer: Fish oil is better for you and delivers more for you.
Question: I am looking for a trusted Omega 3 fish oil supplement? I have heard that not all supplements/vitamins are created equal. I want to start taking a fish oil supplement, but don't know which brands are trusted or highest quality. Any info on trusted brands or a website to research them would be appreciated. Thanks!
Answer: I wouldn't recommend going the prescription route - I think Lovaza, the supplement usually prescribed, is way overpriced. I actually think liquid fish oil is a good way to go, because you know it's fresh as long as it doesn't have a taste, and it's easier to swallow 2 teaspoons of liquid than 6 or 8 capsules (which often have rancid, and therefore probably less potent, oil inside).
I work for a company called Omega Cure. We don't alter the structure or composition of fish oil the way some other companies do (to improve longevity and appearance, i.e. to make it not look like oil). Here's our site: https://omega-cure.com/
Other leading brands of fish oil you could compare are Carlson's and Nordic Naturals. If you go the drugstore-pill route, just make sure you're getting 1 gram of EPA and DHA each daily - ALA isn't as effective or fast-working.
Question: Is it okay to take fish oil supplement if you are a vegetarian? How do they make fish oil? Do they actually have kill the fish to make the supplements?
Answer: They kill the fish to make fish oil capsules and soft gel capsules are from gelatin.
Why don't you try algae oil?
A study found that preterm infants fed baby formulas fortified with DHA derived directly from algae gained weight faster than infants fed formula fortified with DHA from fish oil. In addition, there are no risks of harmful contaminants such as methyl mercury or dioxins, which may be present in fish and fish oils. This is especially important for pregnant and nursing women and young children.
If you can't find algae oil. You can just buy nori (sushi wrapper). One sheet of nori can give you 400mg of omega 3 EPA which is easily converted into DHA plus you can get those vitamin and minerals i the seaweed.
Seaweed has a very long history in China. In China, seaweed is called Vegetable for longevity because it has many health benefits for the body. It is also use in Traditional Chinese Medicine because of its healing properties. However, Algae oil is not extracted before the modern era. Although algae have fewer fats than other foods, it is mostly polyunsaturated fat and almost no saturated fat unlike other foods which are rich in fat but low in polyunsaturated fat. one sheet of Nori(Sushi wrapper) has more than 300 mg of omega 3 fatty acid EPA(Eicosapentaenoic acid) and some omega 3 are DHA(Docosahexaenoic acid). Although salmon contains more than 2000 mg of omega 3 fatty acid EPA and DHA, salmon is loaded with saturated fats that can decrease the ability of the body to convert EPA to DHA and inhibiting DHA absorption. And another advantage of Algae over fish as a source of omega 3 fatty acids is that it has Fucoxanthin. It is a carotenoid found in algae which can maximize our body's ability to convert ALA(alpha-Linolenic acid) into EPA and EPA to DHA.
Question: Is it safe to take a prenatal with DHA and a fish oil supplement together? I am currently taking a prenatal vitamin with DHA. Before switching to this prenatal I was taking a fish oil supplement with my prenatal vitamin (doctor approved). Is it okay to continue taking the fish oil or will the DHA in the prenatal be enough? I'm going to the doctor in two weeks but thought I would ask now. Thank you!!
Answer: My OB prescribed me prenatal vitamins with DHA in it so i think it should be fine
Question: Which Brand of Omega 3 Fish Oil Supplement is better? I want to get some Omega 3 Fish Oil Supplement for my parents, but I am worried about products that are not very "pure" in the sense that they are not filtered (since fish might contain high concentration of mercury, hazardous contaminants, and what not...).
Any recommendations which one to get and where? thank you!
Which is better? Cold-pressed or molecularly distilled? WHY?
Answer: Molecularly distilled is what you're looking for if you're worried about the PCB content, etc. -- the pure stuff. Puritian's Pride boasts a selection of molecularly distilled stuff. You could also consider getting it from an algal source, which wouldn't have this problem (however -- the algae have less EPA).
Question: Fish Oil supplement and Vegetarianism? Ok, I want to be a good vegetarian for animal rights and not a hypocrit. I've been taking a fish oil supplement every morning for various health reasons. The stuff really helps me but am I being a hypocrit?
Answer: Well maybe hypocrite is not the right word. Maybe misinformed is a better one. You actually can use flax seed oil which is actually higher in omega threes and other essentially fatty acids.
Besides the oceans being vastly over fished (imagine trawlers bigger than several football fields and nets that stretch for miles that go from the top to the bottom catching everything in its way) in many fisheries to the point of collapse I have heard that something like 37% of all fish oil is rancid by the time it gets to the market. This is because they have to catch most of the fish out at sea and take the time to get it processed etc. Flax however is usually processed right away and or can be stored safely longer term.
Now that you know this healthy vegan alternative why don't you begin a more whole way of living the compassionate and healthy lifestyle you are desiring?
Question: I am a 16 year old male. Is it okay for me to take fish oil supplement capsules without the consent of a doc? I have been taking fish oil supplement capsules for over a month now, is it okay for me to continue taking it?
Yeah, I take these supplements because I don't eat fish and so I need a source of Omega 3 fatty acids for which I consume fish oil tablets.
Its just to obtain all nutrition.
Another reason why I take these is because I have a little bit attention problems, so in order to improve my health, I considered taking them......
Answer: Yes, it's OK. I don't think you really need them, but you never mentioned why you take them. A 16-year-old usually does not have this as a concern.
According to my doctor (who has been taking care of me for 17+ years) the over-the-counter ones are not strong enough to have much of a health benefit. The best thing to do is modify you diet. There is a prescription-strength medication that is primarily Omega3 fatty acids (I forget the name) specifically for cholesterol, that actually target high cholesterol levels.
Seeing that you are only 16, I can only guess that you are interested in the skin-and-hair benefits. I had taken these supplements without any recognizable differences in either.
Which brings me back around to my original query: why do you take them?
Question: What is the best fish oil supplement? ? Im trying to find a good supplement for fish oil and was wondering if anyone has found a good one that worked for them.
Answer: I have found one that I really like. It's called perfect oils from nutritional therapudeutics. Try totalhealth.com
Question: What is a good fish oil supplement for dog with allergies? Many folks and vets recommending my dog get omega 3 for his allergies. But, he will not eat the food if I put oil on it and he is very small and can't swallow the enormous fish oil pills. What is an alternative that may work for him? I need a VERY small pill that I could put in a pice of cheese or a good tasting powder or food additive.
THANKS!
Thanks!!
Answer: My Lab with allergies hates the fish oils and it is a huge ordeal. But I use Ark Naturals product and I put some on a piece of liver and then give it my dog. It is the only way, or I still put it in his food with gravy, or fresh chicken. Then he does not mind it at all. My Lab is on Wellness Core for his allergies, he is allergic to wheat and grains and this food does not have it plus it is high already in the fish oils so I can cut down on the amount Ihave to add.
Question: Will fish-oil liquid supplement make my acne worse? I recently started on fish oil supplement. My naturopathic doctor suggested 1 tbsp with 2 meals (2 tbsp in total) a day. I think my skin is getting oilier, and more whiteheads. Is this the fish oils doing?????
Answer: I don't think so. If anything, fish oil is supposed to help reduce inflammation, which should help control acne.
The main causes of acne is toxins build up in the body and clogged pores caused by excessive oil and deadskin cells. THese provide a fertile ground for acne to spread and thrive.
To effectively fight acne and prevent acne from coming back, you have to attack acne from inside the body as well as outside on the skin. So, look for an acne product that fights acne internally as well as externally. They should also contains natural ingredients since they're more safer to use and has less side effects.
There are also things you can do at home to get rid of acne. Take actions to detoxify your body and take care of your skin and soon, you will permanently end your acne and have clear, radiant, beautiful skin!
For the next couple of weeks, stick to the regimen below:

-Drink lots of water throughout the day to flush out the toxins

-Eat as many apples as you can. You should buy organic apples at Wholefood. Dont buy apples at local supermarket. Supermarket apples contain pesticides that can toxify your body
-Eat oatmeal for breakfast
-Eat 2 cups of yogurt a day - yogurt boost ur immune system and contain microbiotic organisms that help your digestive system and control the acid/yeast
-Eat lots of green veggies (organic if possible)
-Stay away from coffee, sugar, carbohydrates, fatty and fried food

Question: Giving my dog a OMEGA 3 fish oil supplement? I started giving my 55lb dog a 1200mg human supplement per day with total omega 3 fatty acids of 720mg.
Dermaquin (for dogs) suggests three 250mg per day for a 40-60lb weight.
Question is, can my dog continue to take human fish oil supplements? I doubt there is any difference...
Answer: Yes, your dog can continue to take human fish oil supplements. They are very healthy for dogs, they help with joints, just like with humans. We recommend this a lot. We usually suggest to dose for a human, and follow the bottle, so your dosage sounds just fine. This is something that your dog can be on forever and it will prolong any arthritis or other joint issues.
