Question: Food pyramid? Food pyramids?
List four types of food pyramids other than the USDA Pyramid?
How do the Old ways Pyramids differ from the USDA Pyramid?
thanks!
Answer: do your own homework
Question: food pyramid ? is the food pyramid and the healthy diet pyramid the same thing?
if not can you please explain?
thank you very much
Answer: Almost. The food pyramid is a pyramid which shows what food goes into which category, and the healthy food pyramid also shows servings and only healthy food in each category.
Question: How can you eat accordingly to the food pyramid without getting fat? Okay so the food pyramid with the 6 food groups are suppose to keep you eating healthy. But they tell you to eat 6-11 servings of grain, 3-5 servings of veggies, 2-4 servings of fruit, 2-3 servings of dairy, 2-3 servings of meat and things with protein and keep sweets to a minimum.
How is eating all this food in one day suppose to keep you healthy but thin?
Answer: I think the food pyramid is out dated. Its different for everyone. It depends on your height, weight, and activity. If your a kid or teenager, and your active you might need more carbohydrates, and certain food groups because your active and still growing. It also depends mainly on your metabolism. Some people need more servings of grain then others, to keep them going. For example, i eat A LOT of good carbs, and i am on the thin side. They are right however, it is important to exercise atleast 30 minutes a day.
Question: Was the food pyramid a chart made to help out the farmers? I want real evidence. Saying yes or no because you think the government is good or evil doesnt cut it. Anyone have articles on this is what i really want. We've always accepted the food pyramid but has anyone ever asked why? Any evidence why the food pyramid is a good way to eat? Thanks

Question: Whats the difference between the food pyramid and the dietary guidelines? Please help me out, what is the difference between the food pyramid and the dietary guidelines (FOR TEENS/Adolescence), can you please also apply some good website if you have any, help me out please :( :)
Answer: The food pyramid shows what you need to eat and what to eat more of and less of. Food pyramids differ from different countries as your body needs a certain diet for a certain climate.
The dietary guidelines in the U.S might differ from other countries but they are about the same for every human.
You could check out http://www.foodpyramid.com/ for more information. They have information about a few food pyramids including the USDA food pyramid.
Question: What is the helthiest food in the food pyramid? OK. So i set this goal on NOT eating fatty foods like king sized hershey bars and start eating healthy!! So i was just wondering: What is the heltiest food in the food pyramid?
(It's OK to have more than one answer.)
Answer: Fruits and veggies, hands down! They're high in nutrients, and generally low in calories.
Question: What category are potatoes in on the food pyramid? When I was in school there was a food pyramid which had potatoes placed at the base, inside the cereals group. But I've seen pyramids since then with potatoes placed in the vegetable group.
Where do they actually fit?
Answer: Either. A potato is a vegetable, but a starchy vegetable. It provides a high amount of carbohydrates, which are also found in breads, pastas, cereals, rice, etc., so that is why it is commonly found in that area of the food pyramid.
Question: Do you agree that the food pyramid is outdated? It appears that much of the general public has made these erroneous assumptions:
grains = carbohydrates
meat = protein
dairy = calcium
even though no food provides just one nutrient, and no food has a monopoly on a nutrient.
Grains are our most important source of protein AND iron. Eliminating grains in a fad diet has just eliminated your #1 source of protein and iron.
Shouldn't there be a pyramid listing the nutrient and the foods that contain it? And this should be taught to every school kid.
Example: Protein. Significantly present in wheat, rice, corn, barley, beans, peas, nuts, meat, seafood, eggs, tofu, etc.
Answer: The food pyramid was created by the United States Department of Agriculture, and has been used to promote the consumption of meat and dairy (and the profit of those industries) ever since.
Question: Why does the food pyramid need to be revised to fit in with todays society? I have a power point presentation debate due next week entitled 'the food pyramid is not relevent in todays society and should be revised'. I have agreeded with this statement but dont have alot of info on the topic. any suggestions?
Answer: MacDonalds at the top.
Denny's and Taco Bell next
Processed cheese, pork rinds, and bacon next
Trans fats, beer, potato chips, and chicken wings lastly.
Question: What is a weakness of the food pyramid or food plan groups? What is a weakness of the food pyramid or food plan groups?
Thank you! ( :
Answer: No one gives a shit about it. That's the weakness!
Question: Do I have to eat ALL the foods in the food pyramid to lose weight? Am I allowed to eat less than what it shows on the food pyramid? And, do you have any eating tips on losing weight/stomach fat?
Answer: Undress and stare at yourself in front of your mirror. If what you see displeases you, then you have all the more reason to work out. Try tucking in the extra fat in all those wide areas, this will give you an idea of which part you need to be working on. Turn to you side and get a very good view of your side profile. This is an excellent way of checking whether you have a tummy that is starting to bulge or has bulged already. Try pulling in air and then take a look at your tummy; if it has gone in even a little bit, there is hope for you. If you start now, you can control it where it is now and may be if you really set your mind to it; you can lose a couple of inches in a just a few weeks. Weighing your self on your bathroom scales is a good idea but personally I would recommend this mirror viewing. To be very frank, a few pounds gain may shock you but does not really disgust you. But a flabby figure and extra fat certainly will.
Question: Why does the Food Pyramid show that you have to eat more grains? Why does the Food Pyramid show that you have to eat more grains than veggies and fruits? =/
Answer: Good whole grains (not the processed ones found in white bread, etc) are a crucial part of any diet because they offer a good amount of fiber and necessary calories, along with some minerals and oils not found as abundantly in fruits and veggies. I think the main reason is because of calories; to get a proper 2,000 calories each day, you can't eat only fruits and veggies--they aren't very calorie-dense. Grains, on the other hand, have a much more ample supply of caloric energy to keep you running all day. And really, the food pyramid only shows that one should eat about 3 servings of grains for every 2 servings of veggies--so really, it's not a terrible amount more. The food pyramid illustration can be a bit misleading because of the picture proportions.
Also, keep in mind that grains aren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be--they have become stigmatized because people eat their starchy, processed counterparts that make people fat rather quickly when eaten out of moderation. Whole grains that are minimally processed and filled with vitamins and minerals are very good for you, and an important part of a balanced diet.
Question: What percent of people know that not following basic food pyramid can result in physio or psycho problems? What percent of people are aware that not following the basic food pyramid can result in physiological and even psychological problems and diseases?
Answer: People just are not aware of it especially young people once they hit their 30-40's it will soon become apparent.
Look at victoria beckham in a few years her body is going to go downhill due to such a bad diet.

Question: I need to cook a healthy meal that follows the food pyramid guidelines? I am having a house guest that is not a very healthy eater. He likes just about anything but he never eats healthy. He is staying for 3 days (for breakfast 2 days, lunches all three days and for two dinners) and I want to come up with a menu plan that I can follow that would include all food groups in the pyramid. Please help. He comes tomorrow afternoon!
Answer: Hi, Mia, this is a link to my favorite healthy recipes. The Greek Salmon is to die for! It so easy and quick to prepare, but looks like something from the best restaurant. You can substitute salmon for another fish or even chicken or pork. You serve it on a bed of baby spinach that has been steamed.

If you look around, you'll find lots of really healthy meals that are easy to make, and that follow the pyramid guidelines.
If you want to make dessert, there's some great ones that are healthier. Have you ever heard of diet coke cake? It's delicious but doesn't have the oil, eggs, etc. You wouldn't want to have it all the time, but for company, it's a good dessert without all the calories.
I'd just focus on a lean protein such as fish, chicken, pork tenderloin. Add a whole-grain such as brown rice, sweet potato, whole-grain pasta. Add a side salad with olive oil and vinegar as dressing, or some veggie such as broccoli, cauliflower, winter squash, etc.
For breakfast, have options like eggs, whole-grain bread for toast, whole grain cereal, low-fat yogurt, fruit, skim milk.
For lunch, have options like lean sliced turkey (to eat with the whole-grained bread), some fresh fruit, or a soup maybe. I just had company and made a big pot of chili before they came and they dug into it for lunch. Good luck!
Question: Potatoes belong to which groups of the food pyramid? Potatoes belong to which groups of the food pyramid?
Are they grain or vegetable?
Answer: Actually its not potatoes come in the bread, cereal and potatoes
I hope im right which i think i am
Question: Is it possible to follow the food pyramid and not gain a ton of weight? It seems like if I ate everything the food pyramid suggests i eat (as well as the number of servings) I'd be sure to gain a lot of weight. Bread, meat, beans, nuts, dairy, etc etc, it's a LOT of food. Do those foods and the servings exceed the 2,000 calorie average for every person daily; and am i even supposed to follow it or is it pretty outdated?
Thanks in advance. (:
