If I have to go out or I'm on the road, I'll have some fast food but I try to drink water with it or just get a salad. I also exercise ever day (crunches and sit ups as well as aerobic exercises and dance) for about an hour or 30 minutes. and once in a GREAT while, I'll have a soda. I mostly drink if not water or Herb Tea, Arizona and Sobe just to give some flavour. This is coming from a diet of ALL RAMEN, ALL SODA, MOSTLY FAST FOOD! I never had fruits or vegetables before!! Good diet change?
Answer: Sounds pretty good, If anything I would increase the water consumption and try to get on a good multiple vitamin mineral product so you don't deplete yourself in the early stages of weight loss.
Question: What is a good diet to go on to lose some weight? I've eard many people say that they go on banana diets where they eat only bananas, but that's too blah for me. I want something new everyday. What is a good diet where there is change but not too much? Nothing expensive please. And I will NOT take pills, medicine, drugs or any of that sort. Just food.
Answer: Weight loss is an overall process. You need to think about many factors. There are many sensible things you can do that will make a tremendous difference over the long term if you need to lose weight. It can be done in a healthy way. This is what has worked for me.
Keeping a food journal really does help. It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.
Make a few additional small changes - walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or your life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days. Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer. Buy one piece of exercise equipment to have at home and be strict with yourself about using it. Sometimes you can find mini-steppers or exercise bikes at second hand stores and thrift stores for just a few dollars.
Start a weight lifting routine. Join a gym. Possibly you can find one that has someone who specializes in weight lifting programs for beginners. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall. Even if you can't get to the gym you can work out at home using things around the house. Invest in a good weight training book. The Dummies series actually has a good one.
In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish. Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts. Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy.
Make your portion sizes smaller. Use a smaller plate - in our society we have become accustomed to thinking that we need a large plate of food at every meal, and we don't. About quarter of your plate of food should be protein and at least half of it should be veggies.
Learn to count calories. At your current weight and activity level, you may possibly need about 2000 calories or more to maintain your current weight. So you will lose weight at a reasonable and healthy rate if you cut back to about 1600 or 1700 calories a day.
Eat small amounts frequently, rather than three large meals. Never skip breakfast. Include some protein in your breakfast. It will help get you through the day.
Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses of water a day, and more if it is very hot, if you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely, and eliminate fruit juices. Fruit juices have too many calories, so get your vitamins from fresh fruit, not the juice. You will begin to see changes in your body.
An area that many people overlook is getting enough sleep. You are much more likely to overeat or to binge eat if you are tired and not well rested, so get enough sleep.

Question: What good diet do you recommend for bulking up? Currently, I'm on a 100-push-up program which I just started and hope in completing in 7 weeks. I really need a good diet to back me up. I am 15 years old right now, my body type is "Slim/Slender". I'm 6'2(I'm pretty tall) and I weigh only 140 pounds. I really want to bulk up at least a little bit before school starts in early september. Any good recommendations?
Answer: a bulking diet is generally a healthy diet with more calories added but the stipulation to these added calories is that you put them to good use by working out and getting stronger. eat lots of protein commplx carbs healthy fats. choose good meats such as chicken and turky breast tuna and little red meates eat healthy veggies and stay away from white breads grains and veggies
Question: What is a good weight loss diet for vegetarians? My husband and I are both vegetarians (well I eat seafood, but he does not). We both need to lose at least 40 pounds. What is a good diet program that would work with what we eat. I know a lot of people that lost weight with Atkins & South Beach, but those diets don't really fit in to a vegetarian lifestyle. I am not looking for a quick fix, but something that we will be able to stick with for awhile. I know that part of our problem is that we eat a lot of carbs. We practically live on pasta. Its hard because we work different schedules so neither one of us really cooks a meal, but rather grabs something to eat. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Okay, I understand exercise. Thats a given. That isn't what I was asking. What other meals are good for vegetarians that don't include so many carbs?
Answer: there may be a diet out there tailor-made for vegetarians, but the easiest one you can do is to continue to eat what you currently eat....the key being portion control.......gonna be hard at first, but it will work....keeping in mind a few simple rules....no meals after 8pm....a piece of fresh fruit ok.....keep a food diary for a week, look at what you eat, then sit down and analyze the amount of calories you consume....you will start to lose weight buy decreasing your weekly caloric intake by 500 calories....try to make your calories count more....eating foods higher in protein and more fiber and complex carbs....e.g. brown rice instead of white rice....a lot of restaurants are nowadays conscious of the need to reduce carb intake and offer veggies instead of starches...seek them out. good luck...and, it really does work....remember, you did not put 40lbs on in a week, you're not going to take it off in one either
Question: What is a good diet and exercise plan for a horse? I am writing a report about horses. It needs to be very detailed so can you give me a good diet and exercise plan for a horse.
For a English jumping horse.
Answer: It's always good to exercise your horse OFTEN to keep them in shape, but always leave a day or two for rest every week. Feeding your horse sweet feed say two days a week, and then a carrot or oat grain the rest before you ride is always great for their health and stamina, and let's face it, they love it! Of course your horse should have 24 access to food (be it grass, hay, etc.) and water. Good luck with your report!
Question: What is a good diet regimen for a lupus patient to follow? What foods should be avoided? I would like to know what foods to stay away from and what foods may help people diagnosed with autoimmune diseases. What is a good diet regimen for this diagnosis? Are there any foods that are harmful or that should be totally avoided by lupus patients?
Answer: Lupus patients should avoid alfalfa sprouts. They stimulate the immune system, just the opposite of what we need.
Outside of that, here are some basic guidelines that work for me.
1. Eat lots, and I mean lots, of fresh fruits and vegetables
2. Limit or eliminate animal fat. We have a high rate of premature atherosclerosis. A healthy heart diet is essential.
3. Limit processed foods
4. Eat plenty of fiber (#1 will accomplish that)
5. Get regular mild to moderat exercise-it improves immune function, lubricates joints and elevates mood. Ask your rheumy what would be good for you.
6. Do not take echinacea or goldenseal. They also stimulate immune system.
7. Some lupus patients find wheat gluten to be inflammatory, but many of us have no problem with it.
8. If you can't pronounce the ingredients, don't put it in your mouth.
9. Fish oil is anti-inflammatory. You can eat cold water fish like salmon to get that. A small amount of nuts is good, too.
10. Make sure you get plenty of calcium. Our meds make us prone to osteoporosis. Exercise helps with that, too.
Question: What is a good diet for a college student trying to lose weight? Ok, what are some good diet (like what food) for a person thats used to using the mircowave alot cause doesn't know how to cook. Trying to lose weight.
Answer: Use lemon juice in with warm water in the morning. Avoid those things with have lot of carbohydrate
.
Question: What is a good diet for someone who wants to cut weight, but not necessarily give up food? I love food, and will probably never have the discipline to diet properly. I don't want to look like a body builder, but would like to keep my weight off since I recently lost 30 lbs.Is there a good diet out there with good food that helps lose weight, or just keep weight off? Or a guide to nutrition because I have never been a 3 meals a day type of person.
Answer: The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:
*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm
Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.
Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:
Adults: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
Teens/Children: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/weight/bmi.html
It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.
*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.
Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:
http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/carbohydrates.html
Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d
*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.
Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training for Dummies”. A superb magazine to buy with resistance training routines that will not get you bored is "Muscle and Fitness". Signup for the free newsletter. An excellent free online resource is at http://www.exrx.net/
A good book to buy that teaches you the cardiovascular training basics is “Fitness for Dummies”.
*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.
*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com

Question: What is a good everyday diet for vegetarian young runners? So I run track and cross country
And I've recently become a vegetarian,
What is a good diet and good stuff to eat for a H.S. girl
My Dad always says I need to get enough protein
What foods have a good amount of protein in them?
Websites would be helpful. Thanks!
Answer: Woooo!! I ran cross-country, indoor, and outdoor track all in high school (a year ago, im in college now) and I was a vegetarian.
For one, runners specifically need more carbs than most. So, not only do you want foods high in protein but also in carbs....and vitamins for that matter!
1-PASTA! I always eat pasta, as did my meat-eating teammates. Any types of breads and pastas are loaded with carbohydrates for energy, and are easy to find in vegetarian styles. Sandwhiches are also good. An example of a protein/carb sandwhich is pb&j---since you are vegetarian, I suggest getting crunchy peanut butter because it has more protein than regular smooth peanut butter.
Something I always brought to track meets with me to snack on was also soy nuts...I got used to the taste, they arent to bad. But they are packed fulll of protein.
Also, may I suggest soy milk? There has been a lot of controversy over the affects it has on the estrogen levels on females, but recently these myths have for the most part been put to rest, and the majority of bad publicity comes from dairy farms (go figure)..soy milk has tons of protein! I reccomend chocolate first, if you dont like the taste of the vanilla.
I ate a lof of nature valley bars too....good for runners has carbs and I think some protein, not sure though.
But rally anything with peanuts.
Also, romaine lettuce has a good deal of protein, and salads are healthy for runners as well.
Vitamin wise, I would reccomend taking a multi, and a multi B vitamin (most vegetarians lack this vitamin in their diets), vitamin c (immune system), calcium, and vitamin d is what I take.To be honest, I regret not putting forth the time to take these vitamins in high school....I can feel the different now that I do and I reccomend you take at least a multi and vitamin b complex if you don't already.
hope this helped!
Question: What is a good workout program and diet to follow when toning and adding muscle? I'm 6'1", about 225 lbs and would like to lose about 15-20 pounds and tone my body. Not looking to hulk out, but I would like some definition and muscle tone. What do you suggest as far as a beginning, intermediate and advanced routine, and what supplements should I look into besides whey and the vascular "whatever" for blood flow? Also, what's a good diet to go along with this? Thanks!
Answer: light to medium weight(depending on your strenghth),
medium to more reputations(endurance and toning)not Bulk!
Question: What is a good diet for someone who is beginning running/jogging and weight training? I think I have a very balanced diet, but I am currently seeking a better guideline to follow to make myself more agile and more physically fit/able to run.
An added bonus would be to drop weight while toning muscle, but either way, does anyone have a good, proven guideline?
And please, no rude or obvious answers such as "DRINK WATER!!!!"...I know that much.
Answer: Well i did the exact same thing and i followed the GI Diet which was extremely easy, you eat foods such as muesli, porridge, shredded wheat for breakfast and wholegrain things, chicken, oatcakes, fruit and vegetables which will keep you full and after a few weeks even eating 1 biscuit between meals will make you feel so full , its amazing...
Question: What is a good diet for a marital arts student? What would be a good low fat diet for a 18-year old martial artist who has the following qualities......
236 pounds
6 foot 4 inches
Marital Artist
Athletic build (has gut though, but wants to get rid of it)
Looking for a low fat diet! Any suggestions?
Answer: Have you asked your instructor what they think. You cant go wrong with the typical healthy diet of fruit, vegetables, wheat, etc. The other simple formula is to do more cardio and burn more calories than you bring in.

Question: What is a good diet to follow when trying to lose weight? i'm not fat but i have some excess fat that i think i could use losing. with summer around the corner i'm looking to get it off fast! i'm 5' 10'' or 11'' and probably weigh about one fifty or so... i play volleyball two times a week for three hours and almost every other weekend. i try to run everyday but recently i've only been running every other day. i'm just wondering what a good diet is for me. what exactly should i cut out of my diet? what should i look for when deciding what to avoid. thanks!
Answer: Losing weight depends not only on exercise but also diet. While you may consider that you are not overeating or eating junk, your diet may still be ineffective for weight loss. This is because over time our liver becomes clogged and its fat burning function diminishes making it very difficult to shed weight. The liver cleansing diet helps to correct this problem by restoring optimal fat burning function to your liver.
I do this 8 week diet every year to keep my weight even, and I lose 1-2 kg per week without fail. If you can dedicate 8 weeks to changing your eating habits it will work for you. The basics of the diet require that you eliminate all red meat, animal fats, dairy, all processed food and anything containing artificial chemicals and additives. Replace all that with fresh fish/seafood (not fried), some lean chicken, lots of fresh vegetables (raw is better), salads and fruit, wholemeal pasta, bread and rice. If you can make a fresh raw veggie juice every morning then the process will speed up. Drink lots of water to flush through the toxins. If you do this in combination with your workout, you will succeed.
I've attached some more reading below for a better explanation, including tips, and an example diet plan that I use. I hope you like it. Best wishes.
Question: Ideas for good diet for a guy to reduce body fat but maintain fat free mass for gym training? My body fat % has stayed at 22.5% for over six months despite putting on over 2 kilos of fat free mass (bad uh!). Need some good advice to get the diet sorted.
Answer: The food(diet liquids or solids) that we consume daily form lectins .
Thus selecting Proper food can help lose or Gain weight .
http://www.diskovery.co.in/how_to_loose_weight__how_to_gain_weight
Foods agglutinate the cells of certain blood types (in a way similar to rejection) but not others, meaning that a food which may be harmful to the cells of one blood type may be beneficial to the cells of another.
-Lectins: The Diet Connection.-
A chemical reaction occurs between your blood and the foods that you eat. This reaction is part of your genetic inheritance. It is amazing but true that today, in the late twentieth century, your immune and digestive systems still maintain a favouritism for foods that your blood type ancestors ate.
We know this because of a factor called lectins. Lectins, abundant and diverse proteins found in foods, have agglutinating properties that affect your blood. Lectins are a powerful way for organisms to attach themselves to other organisms in nature. Lots of germs, and even our own immune systems, used this super-glue to their benefit.
For example, cells in our liver's bile ducts have lectins on their surfaces to help them snatch up bacteria and parasites. Bacteria and other microbes have lectins on their surfaces, as well, which work rather like suction cups, so they can attach to the slippery mucousal linings of the body. Often, the lectins used by viruses or bacteria can be blood type specific, making them a stickier pest for a person of that blood type.
So, too, with the lectins in food. When you eat a food containing protein lectins that are incompatible with your blood type antigen, the lectins target an organ or bodily system (kidney, liver, brain, stomach, etc.) and begin to agglutinate blood cells in that area.
Find out how you can loose or Gain weight and stay healthy by following blood group Diet .
The dynamics of weight loss are related to the changes your body makes when you follow your genetically tailored diet. There are two factors.
1) First, as your body makes the dramatic shift of eliminating foods that are poorly digested or toxic, the first thing it does is try flush out the toxins that are already there.
Those toxins are mainly deposited in the fat tissue, so the process of eliminating toxins also means eliminating fat.
2) The second factor is the effects that specific foods have on the bodily systems that control weight. Depending on your blood type, the lectin activity of certain foods may do the following:
__ Interfere with the digestive process.
__ Slow down the rate of food metabolism, so you don't efficiently burn calories
for energy.
__ Compromise the production of insulin.
__ Upset the hormonal balance, causing water retention (oedema), thyroid
disorders and other problems.
Our blood contains aeons of genetic memory--bits and pieces of specific programming, passed on from our ancestors in codes we are still attempting to comprehend. One such code rests within our blood type. Perhaps it is the most important code we can decipher in our attempt to unravel the mysteries of blood and its vital role in
our existence.
__ When you use the individualized characteristics of your blood type as a guide for eating and living you will be healthier, you will easily reach your ideal weight and you will slow the process of ageing.
__ Your blood type is a more reliable measure of your identity than race, culture or geography. It is a genetic blueprint for who you are, a guide to how you can live most fully.
