Question: Is grape seed extract and other supplements effective against skin aging? I am in my 20's and am being proactive against the aging process. My diet is full of fruits and vegetables, but I am also taking several vitamins like grape seed extract, fish oil and several other vitamins to combat skin aging. We may get old, but I would prefer to look and feel young. Is this effective at prevention of sagging and wrinkles or am I just wasting my money?
Answer: aging is inevitible man, moisturize your skin, stay out of the sun, and while i dont specificalyl know of evidence for or against grape seed extract and skin elasticity, i'm sure any antioxidant product is better than none.
and far as my education has taught me,, nutrients eaten seem to get better results than those rubbed on your body..
example
i eat lots of protein,, i dont use protein enhanced cosmetics or shampoo but my stylist asks me why my hair and skin and nails are firm and in good shape... it's the diet.
im sure a healthy diet rich in antioxidants and protein will do more than something you rub on your face.

Question: Would you recommend diluting lavender oil with grape-seed oil for acne? This is for my face, for acne.
I don't want to buy jojoba, witch hazel, or something like that; it is pretty expensive. 10 for just a little bit.
Would diluting the lavender oil with pure grape-seed oil work?
How would you recommend using the lavender/grape-seed oil mix?
Also, I read somewhere that lavender can help with pain and sleep, how would I use it for pain and sleep?
Thank you :D
I asked this question earlier, but I didn't get a response that answered my question.
Answer: Grape seed oil is a good carrier oil for skin that is oily, because it is one of the lightest base oils. Jojoba is too heavy for you, although it is relatively inexpensive in the Now Foods brand.
The best way to use Lavender for acne is to put a bit on a cotton ball and dab it on, undiluted. If you want to use it as a moisturizer, go ahead and dilute it with grape seed oil, using about 15 drops in 2 tablespoons of carrier.
You can also use it as a wash. Mix 20 to 30 drops of Lavender and 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in about 2 cups of warm water. Put in a jar or bottle and shake well. Pour through a coffee filter and rebottle. This can also be used in a sprayer bottle throughout the day as a refresher and to kill bacteria.
Several essential oils are helpful in acne treatment, but Lavender is #1.
For pain I put lavender oil undiluted directly on the sore place. If it is a headache, I try to put it on the source of pain, like the base of the neck, temples, etc. For earache, put directly in front of the ear and on the bone behind the earlobe.
Lavender won't make you sleep, but it can help you relax. You can dab it just above your eyebrows, or put it on a hankie or tissue and put under your pillowcase, or use a simple diffuser that sits on top of the lightbulb in your bedroom lamp. Also can be used in a nighttime bath or footbath, for relaxation.
See the link for one source of jojoba oil if you need/want it later. Most health food stores carry the Now brand too.
Question: cureing tonsillitus with grape seed exstract? I Just recently came down with a nasty case of tonsillitis. I need to get rid of it quickly and without Dr's or costly prescriptions, times are tough and moneys tight. Is grape seed extract my answer?
And I hear its a antibiotic does it then cut contagiousness as prescribed antibiotics would? Any informed advice would be greatly appreciated.
Answer: Tonsillitis is contagious, so it’s best to keep away from others until fever, pain and other symptoms disappear. Bed rest is needed until the fever subsides. Wash your hands frequently and do not share utensils, drinking glasses or toothbrushes with anyone else. Cover your mouth and cough away from others. Resume regular activity when temperature has been normal for 3 days.
Home remedies
ways you can soothe the pain of tonsillitis at home:
Increase fluid intake. When the throat is sore, drink milk shakes, soups, and other fluids to rehydrate the body.
Prepare a soothing hot tea with honey and double your normal tea strength.
Use a cool-mist humidifier to relieve throat irritation and cough.
Gargle with warm salt water to soothe the throat. Combine ¼ teaspoon of salt in ½ cups warm water, gargle and then spit out the water. Use this method several times a day.
Eat lots of garlic. It acts as a antiseptic and helps to cure tonsillitis fast.
Turmeric is an antibiotic which plays an important part in treating tonsillitis. Combine one teaspoon of turmeric powder with one cup of lukewarm milk to help relieve your pain. Take this concoction every night for great results.
I haven't found anything about grape seed extract for tonsillitis but if it appears that it is helping I would keep taking it.
Question: Using food grade grape seed oil as a moisturizer? I know it is best to use grape seed oil that has been cold pressed and refined. I also know that the cosmetic grade oil cannot be used for cooking, BUT is it alright if I use the food grade oil for cosmetic purposes? Will it work as well as the cosmetic grade oil?
(And I have heard olive oil is good too but I prefer to use grape seed oil since it is lighter and practically odorless.)
Answer: Ya, I think that should work.
Question: Grape Seed Extract - Making it a lighter colour? I will be amazed if anyone can answer this, here goes, Grape Seed extract when mixed with water is reddish brown in colour. It is a fantastic anti oxidant when used in skin care products but it makes creams and lotions a horrible muddy colour. I am looking for something Natural that can reduce the Red to maybe a light Yellow.
Oh and it also has to be PH 5-6 so that makes it hard. No person has been able to do this yet so any suggestions will be tested.
Answer: The best method to remove dyestuffs from the extract should be column chromatography. You can test for best solvent and adsorbens by thin layer chromatography, but you risk to loose active ingredients.
The antioxidant principle in grape seed extract are ( oligomeric ) proanthocyanidins. Their color depends on pH and purity.

The methods to purify the extracts are mostly patented:

Grape seed oil also contains a high percentage of proanthocyanidins, should be optimal qualified for skin care and has a light color:

Perhaps contact the one nearest to you...they should be able to help further regarding stockists or distributors.
You could try asking in one of your local health shops, herbalist shops or pharmacies also.
Benefits:
It is a potent antioxidant, from polyphenols called oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs). Said to be more potent in antioxidant potential than vitamins C & E. May provide some benefit against age related disorders, and other disorders related to a faulty diet and toxin or pollutant exposure. You might like to do some research for more information.
Hope that helps.
Question: is there a benefit to grape seed oil and valerian root to help ADHD? A acquaintance of mine told me about giving her son grape seed oil and valerian root for helping with ADHD does anyone have and personal experience with this
Answer: Valerian root is helpful for insomnia and anxiety which could indirectly help with ADHD. It is sometimes best used in a mixture of herbs.
Look more to food additives and colorings in your child's everyday foods. Things like monosodium glutamate (and all the hidden names like autolyzed yeast extract and hydrolyzed vegetable protein) as well as 1000's of other examples can all have effects even if they've been individually approved to be in our food supply.
Do your best to rid the diet of refined sugars and refined carbohydrates, especially sugary juices (even 100% juice) and sodas.
Consider a gluten-free diet. Digestive breakdown products of gluten can pass the blood-brain-barrier and act as false neurotransmitters in the brain, causing mental fog and potentially erratic behavior.
Grape seed oil is a healthy oil to use, but I have not personally came across any studies for its uses with ADHD. I would look more to the benefits of fish oil for ADHD. I do like grapeseed oil for cooking because it is heat stable up to 475 degrees and is cheaper than some other heartier oils like coconut oil.
The brain is made mostly of fats (oils are fats) so I can't rule out a possible benefit of grapeseed oil, but I can't say there is based on what I've read. Feel free to contact me by e-mail if you have any further questions!

Question: Is grape seed oil good for you ? I seen grape seed oil at my local market at a marked down price of $ 4.69 for a 38 ounce bottle. IS this very good for you and how would you compare it to extra virgin olive oil ? is it better same health wise ?
Answer: I use both on a regular basis. I like grape seed oil for cooking when you don't want the taste of olive oil to come through. It is very mild and doesn't have much flavor. So I like to use it to cook eggs and some vegetables. They are pretty interchangeable and delicious!

Question: Why Viniseera grape seed flour is better than similar product? Viniseera the 100% plane grape seed flour, produced by a protected micro-grinding technology for better gastrointestinal absorption and higher bio utilisation than other similar products.
As a result of the micro-graining process, the surface area of the grape seed laid out would amount to approx. 775 square inch. This large area enables the polyphenols within to be absorbed in our body with nearly 100% efficiency.
