Question: What causes green to yellow or green to brown shift when first waking? I noticed that over the past few months, green looks yellow when first waking up and then shifts back to green. The past few nights, the same green now looks brown when I fist wake up and quickly turns back to green. Is something visually wrong with me? Does anyone know what this might be? Thanks.
Answer: this could mean two things.
you could be going color blind slowly but surely.
or this could mean that you are a deep sleeper and when you wake up your eyes are adjusting to a certain color in your room.
you might want to see your eye doctor soon before it gets to late.
Question: Is malachite green the same as victoria green in fish medications? The product that contains the victoria green says it cures ick, but the other product with malachite green says it cures ick and other protozoan parasites. Is malachite green better than victoria green? I was just wondering if they are the same thing or not.
Answer: It's the same thing. It also is known as benzaldehyde green and aniline green.
Question: How green is scrapping an old car and buying a new one? People who own cars that have high c02 emissions are going to be taxed more under the guise of a 'green tax to encourage green behaviour'.
The only logic here is that the government want people to scrap their old cars and buy new lower emission ones.
How green is it to scrap a perfectly good car and replace it with a new one?
Where would there be figures/data for this?
Answer: No idea if there are any figures for this, but recycling of cars is down to a pretty good fine art these days, with something like 80-95% of material reclaimed.
Of course, reclaiming the materials and building the new car also takes masses of energy, so it all depends on how much you use the car and how close you were to the tax brackets.
In the short term this effect of people scrapping 'good' cars for new cars is obviously harmful, but 10 years down the line it will have almost certainly been a net saving measure.
Question: How should I accentuate the green in my eyes? I have green in my eyes, but my whole eye isn't green. The inside is brown and the outside is green but people say that my eyes are hazel or brown, when I'd rather have people see the green. How should I make my eyes look greener, if not completely green?
Answer: I have the same eyes :)
I usually just wear green eyeshadows to bring the colour out, try the Almay trio for greens, that's great.
Also try purple eyeliners since purples make green eyes pop.
Question: What shades of green should a white person with brown hair wear? What shades of green should a white person with brown hair wear?
Weird question I know, but I've noticed that the wrong shade of green on someone who is white and not a redhead and it makes them look sickly or something, for example, like a yellowish green.
What are the best green colors to wear for this hair and skin type?
Answer: i'd say probably a dark forest green or possibly a bluish teal color would be good too :]
Question: How do green and blue runs at whistler compare to green and blue runs at snowmass with respect to difficulty? We have been to Whistler before and are considering going to Snowmass this year. My wife is a beginning skier and is worried that Snowmass does not have many green runs. I herd that blue runs at Snowmass are about the same dificulty as green at Whistler.
Answer: You can expect very similar in levels of difficulty. If you ski Big Burn at Snowmass you can likely ski much of the "blues" at Whistler BC. With the excellent Whistler village at the base of mountains, it is an excellent destination ski resort.
Question: How do I decorate a dark green bedroom and lime green bathroom? I just moved into a new apartment and the walls of the bed room are a nasty dark green. I hate it, but probably can't paint over it.
I also have bright green bathroom tile. Lime green!
I'm not a green person, I like red and purple better. And all my decor tricks are based around those colors! So, I'm at a loss on how to make these rooms look good.
How the heck can I decorate these rooms without making it look like candy or a forest? Picture links appreciated.
Answer: With the dk green you can go two ways white for accent, and a pale yellow, with oranges or rust colors. For the lime green, white, turquoise yellow or grays.
Question: How did the green knight from Sir Gawain and the Green Knight become a knight.? How did the green knight from Sir Gawain and the Green Knight become a knight. Im making a report on how he got knighted or the steps he took to become a knight. PLEASE HELP ME QUICK!
Answer: While this is an ancillary poem to the Arthurian story cycles and was written as a christian morality poem long after the legends were formed, it does contain many elements from older myths and folk tales.
Be aware that the Arthurian legends are mixed and blurred throughout scotland, england, and france, due to the peoples who took hold of those lands over the course of centuries. The ones collected in england are the ones we know the best and are the most recent, the ones from france the oldest, with scotland being a transitional stage. That being said there are differing versions of many of the accounts. In scotland, for example Arthur is wounded to death from the attack of a giant cat (Ploog, which may or may not represent a clan, or leader of a clan, or may literally mean a mountain lion that once inhabited the Isles).
In the tales, Morgan Le Fey is either Arthur's sister, who represents the forces of non-christians (pagans, i.e. black magic), or she is presented as literally the queen of the fairies. The distinction is actually more subtle than one would imagine. In one she represents the leader of unholy forces, in the second she is that leader.
In any case depending upon how far back you go, you would interpret the Green Knight in one of two ways. He would be a mortal ensorcered by Morgan Le Fey and under her control or he would be an actual soldier of the Fairy Queen's army, that is he would be a magical being acting independently.
The first is proposed in the poem, while the latter interpretation would be the older one, and is part of a tradition of green knights and green men who represent the forces of nature seen as evil by christians (as the power of fairy is at odds with the powers of the godly). They serve to test the might and will of the christian warrior. Fairy warriors just appear, as do their castles and dames and treasures and usually return to mist at the resolution of the test.
In any case the Green Knight associated with Gawain is a plot device, he serves a purpose to move the story forward but has no back story. In effect he pops up to test Gawain and you are not supposed to worry about his history. He is simply a devil sent to test a godly man, as is the beautiful temptress (who may or may not be the same magical being). The castle will be nothing but trees upon Gawain's departure.
In the context of the 14th century, the deepest philosophy you would invest in these deus ex machinas is to wonder does God send the devils that test our faith or does the devil send them to tempt our fall? You're not supposed to think about who he swears fealty to or where he got his training.
Good luck.
Question: How green would a hydrogen car industry be in a world wide scale? I have been reading a number of articles about changing to hydrogen cars and how it would result in a decrease in pollution. While it is true a hydrogen car would be a number of times cleaner than a regular gas car, I have a few doubts about how clean the hydrogen making process would be. If hydrogen obtained from water, wouldn't it require a great deal of energy to get the hydrogen out of it? Wouldn't the energy required to do this come from oil and the more traditional non-green energy sources? Overall, is the process for obtaining enormous amounts of hydrogen overall green at all?
Answer: the fossil fuel powered split would only be necessary at the very beginning of the process. Hydrogen releases more energy than is required to split H from O2, so you'd be producing Hydrogen by means of a Hydrogen powered process. green all the way around.
switching to hydrogen power would do way more than just decrease pollution. It would also make energy very cheap because the process of splitting water is relatively simple. You could literally have a mini power plant behind your house producing a great, clean source of energy, that powers your entire house, and your car. Fuel stations could produce hydrogen on location.
In large cities, for safety purposes, there would probably still be a reliance on energy companies, to prevent having large quantities of such an explosive within city limits. Imagine if a city were to start to burn with pockets of hydrogen everywhere? I'm reminded of the great chicago fire and the san francisco fire.
but yes, you can totally have a green process for splitting hydrogen from oxygen.
Question: How can I preserve the green chili peppers in my garden? I started a garden with the intention of making my own salsa, but the pepper have all come in before the tomatos. I have a lot of "salsa green" peppers (they look like green chilis), the red chilis are still growing.
How should I preserve them so I can still put them in salsa in a month? Should I pickle them, dry them, grill them, or make them into a green chili paste?
Or should I just make green tomato salsa?
Answer: I’m from New Mexico and Green Chile here is serious business.
You need to freeze your chile.
Roast the whole peppers over an open flame or under the oven broiler until the skin on all sides is black and blistered. Put the roasted peppers into a bowl and cover with a damp towel. Once all your chile is roasted, you can either bag it whole and unpeeled or you can peel it, chop it and freeze it. If you freeze it whole, you will need to peel it when you use it. Either way works fine, one is just a little more work up front.
Roasting the chile on a gas grill or even a charcoal fire works very well, or over a burner on a gas stove, no pan needed, just hold the chile in the flame.
Around where I live, the scent of roasting chile in the air is a signal of late summer and fall. Absolutely divine.
Question: What makes the flame come out green on a green jet lighter? I started collecting butane jet lighters and have been seeing ones with a green flame.. The flame slowly turns green after the lighter is lit for a few seconds.. It refills with normal butane, so I know it's not the fuel that's special... What causes the flame to turn green?
Answer: when gas passes over copper it burns green
Question: Is caterpillar green a good colour to paint a bedroom? I really like caterpillar green colour and I want to paint my room that colour. My room is small and I live in the basement. The room has one window. Would caterpillar green would be a relaxing colour for a room too?
Answer: If that is the color you like, then go for it!!! If you like it, it will be relaxing. If your instincts say to paint it caterpillar green and you enjoy the color, then just do it! :)
Question: Can green plants do photosynthesis with only green light? Green plants are green because they reflect green light. So when put under green light they shouldn't be able to undergo photosynthesis. However, assuming that there are carotenoids in the leaf, would it be able to go undergo photosynthesis and survive? Or would stored energy be used for photosynthesis? How would you know which one is responsible for photosynthesis?
Answer: Carotenoids are really only good for absorbing the upper frequency band of the visible light spectrum (violets, blue, dark greens). Really, chlorophyll a is about as good as it gets when it comes to 'smack bang in the middle' green light - and even then its pretty darn inefficient. Have a squizz at this graph http://www.uic.edu/classes/bios/bios100/lecturesf04am/absorption-spectrum.jpg
As to whether a plant would be able to survive under green light alone, I'm not entirely sure. It would be able to undergo photosynthesis, but at a very slow rate. Whether this rate is high enough to sustain the plant would probably depend on the plant itself, and its relative concentrations of the different photosynthetic pigments.
Stored energy wouldn't be used for photosynthesis, or at least the light reactions - note the light reactions are the ones that use light energy to *generate* ATP and NADPH. The dark reactions use these molecules to generate oxygen and sugars. Stored energy would most likely undergo respiration to generate energy from pre-existing sugars.
Question: Photoshop question: How do I make the grass greener without making people green? I have a picture a little girl running across a football field. The grass is green but it's dry so, it's not a lush green. I'd like to make the grass greener without turning her skin green.
Answer: create a new layer and choose green as the color and color in the grass with green with the pencil or brush tool.
then go to the filter menu. go to blur then gaussian blur and go to any where from 10-30 pixels
and then go to the layer box and where it says normal, click it and go down to either overlay or soft light. really depends on your preference
you could play around with that until you get the desired effect
hope this helped
