Question: Hair Loss? i have been noticing lots of hair coming out. Usually i only comb my hair once a day. Whats and average hair loss a day for a teen?
Answer: The hair loss condition runs in families and has a strong genetic component to its causation. It is believed to be related to an excess of male hormones in the body (Androgens).
The hair starts thinning usually around the age of twelve, but it may be delayed up to the age of 40. Up to 50 % of the population may have experienced some degree of hair loss before entering into the 6th decade of their life.
Some time with the seasonal effects hail loss occurs for the more info see the source.
Question: What can I do about rapid hair loss and dandruff? I'm only 14, and I used to have shiny, healthy hair. Somewhere along puberty I got severe dandruff which just wouldn't go away regardless of whatever shampoo and medication I tried. With the dandruff came greasy hair and slight hair loss, but it wasn't too bad. Somehow the dandruff and greasiness went away, but the rate of hair loss increased rapidly.
I still look OK because my hair is quite thick, but the amount of hair on my bedroom floor is really scary. What could have brought on the sudden hair loss? Is there anything I can do about it?
Answer: Here's a blog that totally covers everything dealing with dandruff. Read over it cuz everything from treatments to remedies to cures is covered there. Hope it helps:)

Question: HAIR loss? ok, so I am 16, but when I brush my hair in the morning or wash my hair at night or just simply comb it w/ my fingers, hair starts to fall out. Should I be worried? Should I see a doctor?
HELP!
Answer: That happens to me also. It is nothing to be worried about, it happens to everyone. Also I do not know the weather where you live, but here it is starting to get warmer and then hair naturally falls out. It is just a normal thing that the body does to prepare for the warm weather. Do not sweat it.
Question: Can hair loss be reversed from excess carbohydrate consumption? When you eat too many refined carbohydrates, you body takes an insulin hit. This can cause hair to weaken and fall out, which is my case.
Does anyone know if hair loss from insulin spikes (from processed carbs) can be reversed though diet and exercise? My hair has really thinned out, and my hairline is starting to recede. I know it could be genetics, but I have a strong feeling that it's from my poor diet.
Answer: Poor diet is definitely one cause of hair loss. Stress and anxiety is another big one. The actual main reason is a build up of DHT (dihydrotestosterone).
There are natural DHT blockers available like Saw Palmetto. But to really reverse hair loss you need to lower the DHT level on your scalp and use a product with Minoxidil in it.
Provillus is a popular one and they have a lot more information on their website about hair loss. You might check it out. They give away free trials too.
Question: How can you prevent loss of hair without having to use hair oil? I hate hair oil but isn't there any easy ways to prevent hair loss? I've heard of a couple of stuff and tried it but it never really worked for me.
Answer: It doesn't matter whether we use oil or not, for the most important thing to do daily to keep your hair nice and healthy is to drink atleast 2 - 3 lits. of water and have plenty of raw vegetables and fruits. To keep hair healthy, clean and soft shampoo and condition it once in 2or 3 days.

Question: How common is hair loss when going on the pill or NuvaRing? I saw that a side effect is hair loss..
I have thick hair and I'm black[if that has anything to deal with it]...Would it be likely for me to lose hair? If so, how much?
Answer: Female hair loss can also be triggered by birth control medications, certain prescription drugs.
Birth control medications can unnaturally unbalance your hormone levels. And, when this happens, hair loss will occur. To prevent hair loss, you will either want to stop taking contraceptives or you can consult your doctor about it and get your doctor to recommend you a birth control pill brand that doesn't contribute to hair loss.
Question: What is the best way to handle female hair loss post-partum? My husband hates wigs...I can't afford expensive weaves.
What can I do to best deal with hair loss along my front hairline? (I was already told this is normal post-partum hair loss and that it will grow back over time.) Currently, I am wearing twists and have been wearing headbands to cover up the short hair spots.
Answer: I remember those days. I lost a lot of hair after I had my son. One way I dealt was to wear bangs to help disguise a slightly thinner hairline. I wore my hair curled and full, to make it look thicker.
My hair did grow back. It is not quite as thick as it was before, but it is still thick.
Question: How do you treat dandruff related hair loss? I switched hair products two weeks ago and I have allergies so I guess my skin must be sensitive to it because my scalp dried out and then I got bad dandruff which is odd for me as it's never been a problem before. Now my hair is falling out more than normal (a lot more). I read on several medical sites that severe dandruff can cause hair loss, but didn't mention a treatment.
Will treating the dandruff with medicated shampoos solve the hair loss as well? I'll be seeing my doctor in a few days but am interested in how to treat this from any one knowledgeable or has experience in this area.
Thanks!
Answer: Washing your hair with a good quality shampoo and conditioner choosing the mildest option is best I think. Don't use baby shampoo. Surprisingly or not so surprisingly your diet can affect your scalp. Alkalising yourself and taking supplements is an option to consider. How's your stress levels. My goodness hair loss sounds pretty drastic at any time dandruff or not. Have a massage. Take a float. Meditate or something. Good luck with the western quick fix or Chinese herbalist or whomever you see.
Question: What is the best way to prevent further hair loss in women? Started losing hair in the top when I was using the Mirena as birth control. Have had it removed for approximately 5 months. still having some loss, but appears to be less. Now taking hypertensive medications which also cause hair loss. Need help.
Answer: Hello Cherick314,
I have a girlfriend that uses this product: http://www.new-hair-growth-now.com
It seems to really work for her. After about a month I noticed the difference in her hair. It looked fuller and even looked shinier; go figure.
They say that Hereditary hair loss, or Alopecia, (the scientific name for Female Pattern Baldness), is said to account for 95% of female hair loss.
This can help women in preventing thinning hair due to FPB, and support the re-growth of your natural hair.
I think you can try it for free for the first 2 months.
Take care ;)
Question: What causes hair loss in women and how can it be controlled? I've heard some hair loss in women can be expected with age but are there any natural nutrients that can be used to help or aid in controlling the problem? Its kinda sad to see ones tresses go down the drain after shampooing.
Answer: Biotin lots of biotin(found in the vitamin section). You'll notice results within 1 month even. Take it faithfully though. My hair is starting to fill in again. Try pre natal vitamins too. Stay away from the cheap shampoos that lather a lot, they will strip and weaken your hair.
Biotin is famous for making hair stronger again. It really will help you. Be patient and you will see.
Question: How do you know if you have permanent hair loss due to medication? I took Yaz several years ago, and noticed I lost a LOT of my hair. Its curly and has always shed bad, but this was a lot all the time. I don't have bald spots or anything, and still have medium thick hair, but about 2/3 of what it was.
Yaz now has a lawsuit against it, and one of the symptoms/problems is permanent hair loss. How do I know if that's what caused it and how would I prove it?
Answer: If you're starting to get worried because you think you're losing your hair or just wondering if the amount you're losing is natural or notice your hair is thinning, this is how to tell if you are losing your hair. It takes just a few seconds.
Hair loss is a big concern for many men, women and children. There are many causes. You may know that you have rapid hair loss already or even a little loss and wonder what is causing it. Maybe you already have a patch of hair loss. You may not be sure so here's a good way to tell if it's abnormal or not.
Take a small handful of hair in you hand and tug it as hard as you can. If you have more than six strands of hair in your hand then you are losing hair. A natural loss would be less than six strands of hair a day.
Did you just try it? The "how to tell if you are losing your hair" test is the best home test I know to test for hair loss.
What do you do about it?
First of all try to determine if it's related to any current medical diagnosis you have right now. Then take a look at any medications you may be taking in case it's temporary and related to medications, medicines or drugs.
If you're a man then male pattern baldness could be a possibility especially if you notice a receding hair line. Symptoms could be related to pregnancy if you're pregnant. It could be a thyroid issue. If you are losing in big chunks it could be alopecia areata. There are many causes for hair loss.
In any case you'll want to learn how to stop or prevent it. There are many ways to learn through blogs, forums and discussion groups. However one must be careful there because there is a lot of misinformation and guessing going on.
It's always better to get medical advice from experts in the field. You may want to consult with your doctor if you're noticing a rapid hair loss. In some cases you may want to see if your diet or your thyroid is causing it. Boosting your immune system with a plant food diet may help. Be careful of hair loss products and treatments. Some are expensive and most don't work. Watch out for medicines and even FDA approved hair loss medications. These expensive drugs have to be taken daily for a lifetime. They are not quick fixes and come with many side effects and risks.
In any case once you have done your "how to tell if you are losing your hair" test and you know that you are losing hair you'll want to learn how to prevent or how to stop hair loss before you lose any more of your hair.
Question: What do you do to prevent Hair Loss with women? My mum has got over active thyroid, and one of the effects of this, is hair loss. She's not too happy about this, and can do with whatever help and advice she can get. Are there any home remedies/medicines/cures to stop hair loss. Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks!
Answer: Tell your mother to go see her GP and ask to be referred to a Tricoligist (hair loss specialist). This happened to me years ago, after the birth of my second child.
Question: How to treat a dog with hair loss around the eyes and green gunk infection? Living in Vietnam & finding it hard to get good vetinary advice.
Recently had a 3-4 month old puppy which spent lots of time with my friends dog (same age). My dog became ill starting with: eye infection, green gunk in eyes & hair loss around eyes, then became lethargic and lost her appetite.
At this point I took her to the animal doctor. After 3 days of injections she began frothing at the mouth. After 4 more days of intermitent, but increasingly common frothing bouts, i gave the dog to the animal doctor for 2 days observation. After this she determined the dog to be crazy & advised she be put down.
Unfortunately, testing for rabies wasn't an option. I'm not totally convinced that it was rabies: she wasn't aggresive till the fourth day of frothing & was still drinking small amounts of water till the end.
My friends dog which used to socialise with my dog is now showing similar symptoms with hair loss around the eyes & green gunk and mild lethargy. What to do?
Answer: Sounds like everything you tried, failed.
