Health Consultations
Question: Are consultations with psychologists in Australia covered by the Nation Health Scheme or Pensions?
Answer: Yes, you get up to 12 free (rebatable) sessions with a psychologist under Medicare. You just need a referral from a GP.
Also- often psychologists that work for certain organisations don't charge their clients directly (e.g. school psychologists, ones that work at community health centers) so you could try utilizing these services.
Question: How do I start a Health and Safety Consultation business? Hey, I am a professional Health and Safety Manager for a very large organization and I wanted to start my own Safety consultation (OSHA based) business on the side. Where do I even begin?

3) source public and professional indemnity insurance
4) develop a web strategy for marketing and self promotion
5) write articles to get yourself known in the market

loads more ideas but all the above needs to be done first...
use tools Like SWOT and PESTLE to help position yourself

Doctor from local GP checked my blood pressure and did blood test. Everythings ok. She said nothing to worry about. She said it is normal to have a nose bleeding. But I don't think that it is normal. I want to understand what the reason for it. Thank you.
Answer: I used to suffer the same as a child until i had my nose cauterised. Ask your doctor about this treatment.
Question: Does health insurance ever cover a consultation with a Nutritionist? I have Blue Cross Traditional plan... Any ideas ? I try to eat healthy and work out regularly but I would like the opportunity to learn more about my body and nutrition, eating better, etc. Has anyone gone to a Nutritionist? What do they charge approximately?
Thank you in advance.
Answer: I once saw a dietician because of high cholesteral. The meeting was prescribed by my doctor. Blue Cross paid for it. Depends on the plan you have.
Question: Why doesn't Yahoo show a disclaimer/caution notice here in regard to answers given about health and medicine? So many people, especially women who are concerned they may be pregnant or have other health/medical conditions, post questions here on Yahoo Answers, looking for genuine answers if not advice to their health matters and problems.
But although a lot of people mean well here on Yahoo Answers, not all answers given by people are always genuine/helpful as they can be misinformed, et cetera and I think it's always best (particulary with serious if not urgent) medical, health queries that persons arrange consultation with their doctor rather than resort to finding the answers on the internet.
So shouldn't Yahoo Answers consider placing disclaimer or caution notices on here about what indeed may well be a better approach to getting answers on personal health matters offline, rather than risk any and usually unspecialised views/responses online?
Answer: I guess the generic legal disclaimer covers that.
I wouldn't rely solely on advice given on Yahoo! Answers for anything. I have posted a few questions, not about health, that did provide useful information on which to base decisions in real life.
The questions I answer are ones that I know an answer for. I'm a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in real life, fully licensed and tested, etc... When I answer something, I know that the person asking it doesn't just want to hear "talk to your doctor" every time. Duh! I'm sure they already knew that. So, what I do is try to give the person information that might help them figure-out what is happening or about what would happen with a certain course of treatment. I think this is helpful and doesn't tell anyone to do anything in particular. The most important part of my answers is to talk to your doctor, they may do this and this and this if it really is that.
I have seen examples of people voting best answer on a question I answered where I knew my answer was right and the best answer is wrong (with potentially deadly results). Specifically, one I answered about a person having trouble with their Maxair Autohaler. Those things are odd and don't work the way normal inhalers do. I know that because I'm a Respiratory Therapist (RRT). The best answer was to try using a spacer with it. That wouldn't work because the Autohaler is breath actuated and would not operate with a spacer... Some of the askers chose bad answers. I know that I was right on that question for 100% sure. Someone out in Yahoo! Answer land about a week ago was trying to use a spacer with their Maxair Autohaler and hopefully hasn't died from their asthma as a result. I of course advised them to talk to their doctor and provided information about how the Autohaler is supposed to work. Other askers seem to want advice about what disease they may have and how to treat it because they are in America and middle to low income people who can't afford health insurance or a trip to the doctor's office. That's really sad. However, there are things that should be done directly with a doctor, which is most of the things in the health section.
When it comes to people sharing experiences or giving an educated opinion on something, I think that can be helpful. That way, when a person talks to their doctor, they might be able to throw a possible cause out or ask their doctor about something specific.
I think a special caution or warning would be a good idea. I also think that Yahoo! Answers is generally helpful and many people have likely received accurate information about what they were asking about from people with real health care training or from people who have been there too.
Question: When having a consultation with a potential primary care physician, can I address my current health problems? I'm 80-90lbs. overweight (like some Americans) and I lost about 20-30 lbs. so far.
I now have new health insurance and I need to get a new primary care doctor. How do I address my current health problems with my potential new doctor? Do I tell him/her what I'm doing to remedy the problem and ask for any suggestions?
Answer: Yes. Tell he/she everything that you are doing. What medicines (if any) you are taking. They need to know EVERYTHING about your health
Question: Can you help me understand health insurance in the UK? I want to get private healthcare, but I'm unsure whether private health insurance (through BUPA or another such company) or just paying for a consultation with a private Doctor would be cheaper? If I sign up to a health insurance scheme, like BUPA, do I have to wait a period of time before I make a claim, or can I ask for treatment immediately?
Answer: NHS is free providing you are resident and working, paying tax and NI.
I suggest you telephone BUPA and ask them about if you have to wait x amount of months. As for paying cash, do not know.
Either way Private or NHS, you have to be reffered by a GP and if they refuse to refer you, then you do not get any further.
Question: Can anyone tell me about a paid website where I can become a Health expert and get paid to answer questions ? I am an allopathic MD doctor, also qualified in Alternative Health care, living and working from India. I am especially interested in dealing with Stress reduction, using Bach Flower therapy, using Online Consultation.
Answer: Let me know when you find out, LOL
Question: Is Universal Healthcare Detrimental to Your Health? Healthcare has become a most prominent issue in today’s world. Many people are demanding a universal healthcare system. However, I have several apprehensions about government-run healthcare.
Contrary to believe, insurance premiums and expense of healthcare is likely to increase. These cost increases, along with ineffective cost control, will lead to monetary instability in the healthcare system. Assuming that these costs could be effectively controlled, the insufficient supply of physicians would lead to the downfall of universal healthcare. Patients would have to wait longer to receive important consultations and procedures. Ultimately, I believe the average health of an American citizen would suffer due to universal healthcare. So, is universal healthcare really the answer considering it would be detrimental to the average health of an American citizen?
Moreover, I believe it is necessary to define healthcare as a right or a privilege. So, is it everyone’s right to have healthcare, or is it a privilege not available to everyone?
Answer: Absolutely it will be detrimental. Not only to Americans, but also to all the Canadians who come here for care they will not get in Canada. Canada also does not have the minorities killing themselves and others at the rate in US. This is one factor skewing the statistics. They also measure live births in a different way, including survival of premature babies.
Our government screwed up the community health care by backing HMO's, protection from lawsuits, denial and delayed treatment, retired people are legally worthless, etc. all a preview of coming G-care. They do not support more medical schools in the US, preferring to bring foreign trained doctors into the country to 'fill the gap'.
The government will not join with the people in their scheme. They will continue to provide the best private insurance care available to all the government workers as they now do.
G-care will provide an Orwellian system of 'monitoring' the citizens to an unheard of level.
The VA system has had electronic records for many years and their system is a joke.
Question: Not including the public option & advance care planning what do you like or dislike about health care reform? So far all the debate has been about the public option and reimbursement for advance care planning consultations.
It is funny to see a person that blocked me becasue they only want answers that agree with them to answer their questions and cheer them on.
Answer: A straight subsidy of a separate plan for preexisting conditions and catestrophic care umbrella liability would be better than this and leave every one else out of it. However, it should be a plan states can choose to subscribe to or not, given the Constitution restriction on federal powers.
Taking out the public option is a very marginal change, although it is the one the insurance companies want. Months ago they agreed to Obamacare without that, per the press.
They haven't changed much, there will be a coop administering government central planning.
There are governmental requirements of what all the policies can be like, and the government controls through compensation standards how doctors and health providers get paid, to enforce a government 'cost effective treatment' standard which anyone with any common sense knows means rationing of care.
Worse, now if your insurance company wrongfully denies you coverage for treatment, you can sue. By law the government committee is being shielded from any challenge.
The medicare cuts are not only there, I understand they have gone from $500 billion to $550 billion, and the CBO only valued the 'efficiencies' Obama cites as making that up at $1 billion.
The 'public option' debate wasn't wrong, but it was trivial next to the overall form of Obamacare.
Question: What Is a Health Care Secretary? What Education Do They Have? When I went to Planned Parenthood, I had a consultation with a clinician. I found out that she is a "Health Care Secretary." She gave me all kinds of bad medical advice. She told me I should have a period every three months even though I am on continuous BCP to treat Endometriosis. She was incredibly rude. She gave me all kinds of inaccurate information.
What education is required to be a health care secretary? Is she even qualified to give out medical advise?
Answer: What education is required to be a health care secretary? They generally hire CMA which require anywhere from 9 months of school to 2 years for an associates. They are required to pass national testing. They also Hire LPN's which require 1 year of school and generally are higher than a CMA. The latter is generally CNA, CMA, LPN, RN ASSOC, RN BA and RN MA.
Is she even qualified to give out medical advise? Under The Doctors supervision yes she is allowed to generally they take notes in your chart regarding the question and the answer she/he gave then the DR signs off on it stating yes it was the same advice he would have given.
Just because it is not what 1 DR advised doesn't mean its wrong. Technically you should give your body a rest from all the hormones. You realize taking them non stop for ten years will give you an added 42 years worth of hormones. Just because is not what you want to hear or becuase its not what 1 dr told you does not make it incorrect. So either you go back to this great DR you had before and cough up the price or you listen and take in the information given to you by someone who might have an education in this field or atleast have been trained to be in this field. This is what they do day in day out. This is what they deal with a gyno deals with alot more than they do so he may not be brushed up on everything. These "clinicians" and "Health care secretaries" deal with birth control atleats 20x a day and have REPS who come in and educate them also get literacy to read. Im sure they are up to par with all methods and suggestions. It was a suggestion and if you dont take it that is your choice she did her job. They can not hide your next pack so you get a period. All they do is advice and document that that was done. So in the future when you have a complication due to overdosing your body with hormones they can say and show in their documentation that they did advice that and you choose to not follow their advice.
Question: Any one can suggest best health insurance policy in india? Any combination is available for married couple? please give idea about good health insurance policy in India. Any health insurance policy that covers both husband and wife in a single policy. i want coverage only for major hospitalization and accidental treatment and not day to day medical consultation?
Answer: Insurance in India is regulated by IRDA. All the insurance companies has to follow Indian Insurance Act.
There are nearly 14 companies some are active and some are passive. The insurance business is simple.
You pay the company Rs1000/- per year at a particular age and buy a policy for one year, if something happens to you, the company pays you Rs1,00,000/ or some specified amount.
Coming to your point.
Buy a family medical policy.
Buy another policy for accidental death cover.
The normal charges for accident and adbr cover is Rs100/- per lakh. But the medical policy depends upon your age and pre existing diseases.
Best is ICICI LOMBARD, NEW INDIA ASSURANCE CO, NATIONAL INSURANCE, UNITED INDIA ASSURNACE, and some more private players.
Buy it through a good advisor/agent, so that you receive good service, in case, if it is required.
Question: Health Insurance companies and HMOs. Should they be required to provide beneficiaries all the benefits? promised, and do it in a timely manner. Same day referrals, non interference with the patients physicians decisions, prompt consultations by having sufficient participating consultants, no more than 15 miles travel to see a consultant. Federal and state board to protect beneficiaries, heavy jail penalties to HMOs officers for denying promised benefits, Malpractice lawsuits against HMOs allowed.
All these to be part of the Health Insurance reform being debated now.
Answer: The HMOs is not a bad model of health care insurance. The problem that patients have is that the HMO tries to delay and often avoid delivering the benefits that they promise their members. They need to be watched carefully and they need to be liable if they interfere directly or indirectly with the physicians decisions. State and federal agencies need to be proactive in watching these HMOs. Patients surveys, practice inspections and reviews should be done unannounced. Computerized records of patients and the practice itself should help authorities keep an eye on them and the quality of the care they provide. Sharing of the HMO savings with participating physicians and PCPs encourages rationing and should be forbidden.

NO MORE FAST FOODS. Do 1500 calories a day. Low fat--no more than 18 fat grahms a day (maybe 20). Drink lots of water: 32 oz. in the morning between 9 and 10:30 and another 32 between 2 and 4:30. Don't park close to store entrances--park as far away as possible and walk. Use the stairs instead of the elevator. Swim if you can. Get a stationary bike and spend 1/2 hour a day at home on it, or get a real bike and ride that amount of time. Now, you won't see results for about four weeks, but then you'll start to shed about 2 to 3 lbs. a week. No candy, ice cream, soda, cake, pie........nothing high calorie. AND, ONLY weigh in once a week--no 'daily' checking.
Oh, and see your doctor before starting this. Just make sure that all is good with your body.
Question: Is health bill too complex for the average Joe to grasp ? What is End of Life consultation? Is Obama going to provide assisted suicide ?
Answer: It is a very lengthy bill full of loop holes and contradictions. i highly doubt obama even understands the majority of the bill (and he is trying to rubber stamp it). The bill has many issues, while some are saying if you currently have healthcare you will be unchanged by this bill but further reading into the bill shows evidence that insurance companies will likely have to change policies and even drop people forcing them onto the government form of healthcare.
all while obama said he does not think the government should or can run health care.
obama is an idiot and a disgrace as president.
