Answer: My doctor gave us the best tip ever. Gripe water by baby bliss. That stuff worked so good. I love it. Also after giving the baby gripe water move his legs in a bicycle motion you will laugh but it pushes the farts right out. You can get gripe water at almost all pharmacies. Good Luck and pass it on! Trust me you will love it!!
Question: Infant Gas? My almost 2 month baby has excessive gas. I have tried Ovol Drops, Probiotics and Homeopathy but nothing seems to be working. Any suggestions are welcome.
Answer: My son started to get really bad. I put him on the Mylicon drops after each feeding and it made a huge difference. We also took him in for it and turns out he also has acid reflux. He is not on prescription liquid Zantac twice a day and he is seriously an entirely different baby! It has done wonders! Watch and see if baby arches their back when they are upset. And spitting up a lot. That's what triggered me to bring in my son, along with the painful gas. Hope this is helpful! Good luck and congratulations on the baby!
Question: When is the best time to give infant gas drops? My baby started solids at 6 months. He is now 7 212 months old. I've waited 4 days before introducing a new food so I would be able to recognize any intolerance or allergies.
He has not been able to tolerate any of the foods I have tried. I make my own baby food and because he was having such a tough time, I even tried the store bought jarred stuff to rule out contamination or preparation issues. No difference. I also gave him a Gerber teething biscuit and he vomitted it up about 30 minutes later.
He's been sleeping through the night since he was 8 weeks, but any time I feed him solids, he wakes up at night angry and fussy. One days when he only nurses, he sleeps fine.
I bought infant gas drops and I want to see if it makes a difference.
My question-- should I give him the gas drops right after he eats, or wait until bed time?
Answer: you can use Mylicon drops as many as 12 times a day.
So i would give it to him after every meal and at bedtime
Question: What can I do to help my infant with gas problems? My son is almost 3 months old. I have noticed lately that he has a lot of problems with gas. I am using those infant gas relief drops but they dont always seem to work. Im using a soy formula so it cant be the milk. The doctor seems to think its normal, but he is in alot of pain until the gas....whether a fart or burp comes out. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Answer: gripe water
Question: What is the best thing for infant gas? My infant is 2 1/2 months old and when he has gas I use gripe water, and I find it doesn't work that well...what else can I try? Thanks.
Answer: I agree with the people suggesting Mylicon (or it's store-brand version) - it works well. The suggestions of burping the baby very thoroughly and massaging his tummy are also good ones. Also, when he gets gassy, if you lay him across your legs, tummy down, and pat his back, that will give him some relief. Another thing that works well is to put your feet up on the coffee table, and then put him on your legs, facing you. Take his little legs and "bicycle" them. The motion can get things moving, and he'll also have a chance to look at you, which he'll love.
On another note, if you use a bottle, it's a good idea to not let him drink it all - he'll suck down extra air, producing extra gas. As for the kind of bottle, I recommend Playtex VentAire - they have many parts, which is good for making sure the bottle is clean, and it's good at getting all the air out of the bottle.
Also, if you feed him formula, you might want to try some different kinds. Enfamil GentleEase works well, as does Similac Advance Isomil. Both of these have store brands that work just as well as the name brands, which is great for your budget! If you breastfeed exclusively, I'd recommend talking to your doctor about what foods to avoid that upset baby's tummy.
Good luck!
Question: How can I help relieve my infant of gas? I know that infants are prone to having gas and some have it more than others. My husband and I have a hard time burping our baby. What can we do to help relieve her?
Answer: Burping the baby thoroughly will reduce the amount of air in the stomach, so that it does not pass on to the intestinal tract. Unfortunately, burping is not 100% effective at eliminating gas, since it has absolutely no effect on the gas created in the intestines during normal digestion. There are baby massage techniques which may prove effective in helping baby to release gas. Simply applying light pressure on the tummy can soothe and help. You can also try carrying baby in the “football hold” – face down on your forearm with baby’s legs straddling your elbow and baby’s chin resting in your hand. Again, the gentle pressure placed on the little tummy can help soothe and release baby’s gas.
Question: What is the best way to relieve infant gas? I have a 3 month old who is extremly gassy. He's 100% breastfeed and I watch me diet. It some times keeps him up at night because its so loud and forceful. I've tried Mylicon and grip water but either of them seems to work for him. Ant other suggetions?
Answer: Sounds like colic. I used to walk the floor with my daughter and sit in a rocking chair rocking her a lot. Best thing is ask your doctor.
Question: do you want a old remedy to help infant gas? this sounds gross but i tried it and it work. cut up a onion and boil about 20 mins. strain jucie off and let cool. keep the juice. add a little sugar put in babys bottle. work better them any gas drops out there. Lets them sleep better to. Its safe wont hurt them and is cheaper thin drops.
Answer: thanks for that. my sister runs a home daycare i will pass this info off to her. she could use it for the babies and she has alot of holistic parents that would benefit from this...thanks.
Question: What is better for infant gas? My son has bad gas and I was wondering if it would be better to use the drop in bottle liners. Right now we are using the Ventaire bottles, but my mom suggested we try the liners. Which do you think would be better for his gas?
Answer: try using the gas drops in his bottles...we use the stuff that starts with an m...its awesome stuff and it works great with my 6 month old because he has really bad gas too.
we use avent bottles and they help with his gas a lot. we used the drop in and it got too expensive and they didnt work as well as the avent ones.
Question: What helps with infant gas and vomiting? We have already switched from Enfamil Lipil to Soy based, then to partially broken down protien formula. We burp him thoroughly.
Answer: My son also has the same probalem. In fact, it got so bad, that the gas started to build up, causing him to have projectile vomiting. The only thing that worked for him, which his doctor prescribed or you can also buy over the counter, is Mylicon Infant Gas Drops. Since we started using thoses, he hasnt had any projectile vomiting. You might also want to get him tested for Acid Reflux.
Good luck!
Question: What are some causes of excessive infant gas?
In a breastfed baby...
Answer: Having an immature digestive system is the most common cause. Excessive air intake while feeding is the next likely suspect (if it doesn't get burped out, guess where it goes?). Occasionally problems with something in the mother's diet causes gas in breastfed babies, and some formulas don't agree with some bottle-fed babies, but those don't happen as much.
Mostly, babies are just tootin' machines because their bodies are still learning. Unless you notice other signs like screaming or diarrhea, the kid is probably fine and will outgrow the condition eventually.
Question: Which herb is good for INFANT gas relief? 13 week old is constantly having gas build up and gas drops just aren't helping! Looking for an herbal remedy that might help...
Thanks! =)
Answer: dill seed, fennel seed and/or ginger (alone or mixed) as a weak tea should help
Question: what is the best infant bottle to reduce gas with a breast baby? My son is bottle fed breast milk, what is the best bottle to use to reduce gas?
Answer: my breastfed son gets 1 expressed bottle a day. while he's not picky with bottles or nipples, we give him the evenflo bottles, the medela bottles and the playtex nursers. I'm also a big fan of the playtex nursers (original)...they're great with air reduction, their the only nipples that don't pour out (even the slow ones do...) and I love how the freezer storage bags becomes the bottle liner.
Question: home remedies for infant gas please help? my 10 day old has had gas problems for a couple of days. i switched from similac to enfamil because of financial reasons so i am sure that is the underlying problem. but until i can afford to go out and buy similac anyone have any advice on how to sooth my baby??? i feel horrible watching him suffer
Answer: Mylicon drops are a lifesaver--any pharmacy or Wal-Mart will have them with baby stuff or OTC medicine, and they aren't expensive. If it seems like he is constipated, you could also put just a bit of Karo syrup or prune juice in his formula.
Besides that, be sure to burp him thoroughly at each feeding--this is critical for any brand formula to keep them from getting gas. Try massaging tummy, rocking and holding in different positions if he is really colicky. Some people have told me to put baby in car seat on top of vibrating washer or dryer because the motion soothes them. I think I might try baby swing or cradle first, though!
Question: How to help a infant that has bad gas? i am a new mom of a 5 week old. she has had bad gas the last two days and she is not sleeping well and very fussy because of it and i don't know what to do.
Answer: burp her, gently bounce her on your lap with her head supported, carry her around with your hand on her tummy, and her face facing the floor (sort of like she's flying with support), try non alcoholic gripe water, keep her upright, rock her, dance with her, sing to her, swaddle her... keep trying, and know that sometimes there isn't much you can do! i'm sure you're doing a great job, and the gas will pass when it's ready to.
also think back to what you ate (if you're breastfeeding) my baby ALWAYS gets bad gas when I eat curry! It's so disappointing, because I love it!
good luck!
Question: Does anyone know a good infant formula for bad gas? I've tried Enfamil Gentlease Lipil for 2 weeks and it seemed to have made the gas worse.
Answer: Enfamil did the same for my son. We switched to Nestle Good Start, and it has been great. It's more expensive, but you can get it at Babies R Us for cheaper than the grocery store. You can also register on their website for coupons. Watch out if you try it, though . . . it makes their poop green!
