Juicers
Question: Anybody have info on juicers and juicing? Anybody have any tips on value for money juicers, what types there are and good recipes? I'm thinking of getting one.
Answer: I bought a Jack La lane juicer and it works pretty good.I don't use it all the time but when I do it doesn't disapoint. They come with a recipe book.I personally think the Carrot juice one is the best.
Question: What is one of the better juicers out there than can handle leafy vegetables, as well as carrots and the sort? Seems like if a juicer can handle leafy vegetables they can't handle any sort of hard fruit or vegetable. I assume the Jack Lalanne juicer cannot handle lettuce, spinach and stuff like that??? I am interested in a juicer that can handle leafs and greens as well as hard veggies including apples, carrots, etc. It can't be real exspensive.
Answer: Any centrifuge juicer should be able to handle leafy vegetables just fine. The Jack LaLanne juicer is a centrifuge juicer. There are other brands out there and you should shop around. The thing to remember about juicers is this: The ones made out of plastic parts will not last as long. The cheapest I've seen are the "Juice Man" brand juicers. I think they start at about $60. I've seen the really good metal juicers top out at $1,200.
There are also hand-cranked wheat grass juicers that work well on wheat grass and leafy greens but do not work with hard veggies.
Question: Do normal fruit and vegetable juicers juice wheatgrass? There are juicers found in department stores or other electronic appliance stores. However, as far as i know they only juice fruits and vegetables. Can they juice wheatgrass??
Answer: No, you have to use a wheatgrass juicer. You can find one at a very reasonable price at a heath food store.
Good Luck
Question: What do you know about living on a vegetabe & fruit diet only and about how juicers work? When you put anyvege in a juicer, does all of it get made into juice or are their scraps? Also, what combinations of veges or fruits are good when mixed together for a drink? I mean, are there any "recipies" for natural juices? Is this a good diet?
Answer: for a good mix, try bananas, and strawberries, and pineapple. yes, this is a healthy diet. Get your protein from peanut butter, or beans. You will probably lose weight, especially if you eat a lot of grapefruit.
Question: Are Juicers, SMoothie Makers and Blenders the same thing? I would like to start making daily fruit and vegetable concoctions but don't know what to buy. The prices seem to vary greatly and I don't want to pay over the odds if it is just a gimmick.
Any advice and recipes appreciated! Thanks!
Answer: A juicer simply crushs the fruit, and removes the skin. A blender pulverizes everything, a smoothy-maker is a gimmick. Easily the most versatile thing is a blender, thats what I use.
Question: What's the difference between food processors, smoothie makers and juicers? I would like to make my own vegetable and fruit smoothies, soups and other blended food but I'm confused which small appliance to buy. They all seem to do the same thing but how come they're called differently? What do you think I should get?
Answer: Food Processor: chops, grates food. Using different blades you can do different preps.
Blender: Chops, grates, crushes ice, & makes food much finer to the point of like a smoothie
Smoothie Makers: are usually not as powerful as a good Blender. They are much more limited in there uses that either a food Processor or Blender
Juicer: Extracts & separates the pulp of the fruit or veggie from the juice.
I own a Blender with a small food processor attachement(Hamilton Beech) & a Juicer(Jack LaLanne). I find the 2 are what I need for my healthy diet & lifetstyle. Both are moderately priced & I am pleased with the work they do.
My daughter owns a Vitamix Blender & a Champion Juicer & luvs them both. They are much more upscale than I have.
I hope this was helpful.

Question: I'm a vegetarian & received a juicer & would like to know veggie recipes other juicers recommend? I am interested in low fat but tasty combinations. I am a novice juicer and will appreciate your advice. Thanks!
Answer: You don't have to worry about 'low fat' when it comes to Juicing. I don't juice, I blend. I like to get every single nutrient the fruit has to give.
Here's a bunch of ideas for you...

Question: A discussion / recipe board for vegetable juicers? I got a juicer and want quick recipes rather than just tossing in all the greens I can find.
I also need ideas of what to do with the 'scraps' that don't juice down.
Answer: you can use the scraps in dips
Question: What are the best type of wheatgrass juicers? Do you need a cold press juicer to juice wheat grass or will a regular blender work?
Answer: the juice tiger by Jack Lelaine is cool. But drinking wheatgrass is not.
Question: s there a big difference of nutrient extraction from centrifugal juicers and pulp extractors? I've read that the centrifugal juicers destroy some of the enzymes and nutrients and wonder how much is destroyed and is it significant enough to warrant the extra expense in purchasing a pulp extractor instead.
Answer: I have an Omega, and I really like it. It is very hard to clean however.
In my opinion, if you really want the best, get a VitaMix. They just blend super well, without removing any good stuff.
Enzymes are removed from heat, not extraction.
By the way, try this recipe:
One whole organic romaine
2 Honeycrisp apples, organic
1 organic lemon
one inch of ginger
one leaf of kale
You will love it!
Question: Does the Omega Juicers 8005 model have a defect? Does anyone already own this model? I want to buy this model, but 2 users on Epinions.com are reporting that the Omega 8005 has a defect where it grinds plastic particles into the juice. I guess if you run the machine without putting anything in for a couple minutes, according to the reviews, "the rotating auger grinds against the juicing insert actually scraping off trace amounts of the plastic." Can anyone dispel this? Thanks.
Answer: I have this juicer and love it. I've not personally encountered this little "glitch" they speak of BUT, here's what I did to prevent it from happening. When brought it home, unpacked it, I poured a bit of olive oil onto a paper towel, wiped down the inside, and then washed it with hot and soapy water. The olive oil lubricates and coats without leaving a residue. It's rather like "seasoning" a new skillet prior to using it. If you do not have olive oil, another mild thick oil will do the trick. I'd not recommend vegetable oil or a low-grade oil.
Question: Are juicers that press better than the others? I was told that juicers like champion which press the veggies instead of
spinning them, are better for juicing. Is that true and when do I
get a good deal on a juicer like that
Answer: The answer depends entirely on what you are expecting after the process.
If you want nearly clear juice with no bits in it, you'll need a different juicer to one that chops everything up.

Question: what is the difference between juice extractors and whole fruit juicers !!? apparenlty they are different than each other .. also there is something called "juicer" ! what is the difference between the 3? thanks
Answer: Actually Juice Extractors are different than Whole Fruit Juicers.
Extractors require the items to be cut in small peices before you get the juice from the product.
Whole juicers have the ability to take the whole peice of fruit without haveing to cut it up,
Question: Juicers - How to get the most juice out of them? I am juicing cabbages (medicine for my gastritis) and when I juice it with my sharper image juicer I see that alot of the pulp is moist and like half of it is not even juiced at all. I feel like I am wasting alot of the cabbage...I just chop it to the size of a quarter or something how should I chop it? Should I chop it smaller or bigger? Thanks.
Answer: I believe the sharper image juicer that you're using is a centrifugal juicer type which means that it process produce in a centrifugal fashion wherein they are chopped finely by fast-spinning sharp-blades and then crushed into the the strainer through what manufacturers call "g-force" and since cabbage can be classified as one of the softer, green leafy vegetables, centrifugal juicers won't be able to provide you maximum output; centrifugal juicers like the one you currently have is best for hard produce like most of the fruits (i.e. apple) but they can't juice green vegetables as well as masticating juicers.
Masticating juicers like omega 8005 or the Hurom Slow Juicer will give you the most output out of vegetable produce like cabbages.
Question: Since Marion Jones had to give up her medals, shouldn't all World Series juicers do the same? If we're going to do that to her it should be done across the board!
Cheating is cheating right?
The relay teams that Jones participated on had to return their medals too.
So, in that regards, a WS team should have to give it up as well right?
Explain how that's different.
Answer: You bet they should give up their ill gotten prizes. how is it fair to the guys who played hard and got nothing.
If they are going to clean it up, clean it up.. if not.. start billing it like wrestling.. a drugged up sport.. if you want to watch, watch.. but don't consider it a fair arena at all.
What a shame.
