Junk Food Ban
Question: With smoking bans all over the place, will we ever see a cream cake or junk food ban? Because the increasing number of Obese people in the UK costs the HNS much more than smokers do, especially with the increase in diabetes as a result of obesity.
Answer: It would not surprise me. Once they get away with withdrawing one freedom they start on another . If you believe in freedom then it must be freedom for all not just those you approve of but I guess this government does not want us to be free.We just live with the illusion of freedom.
Question: I would like to know everyone's opinion on whether or not we should ban junk food in schools.? This includes high school as well. I'd like to know both sides of the opinions and please give reasons why, and just not 'junk food is bad or good'. Thank you.
Answer: I believe that students should have the choice to eat junk food or not. I feel that if we ban junk food from the schools, students might lose weight, but it is just as likely that they will get junk food elsewhere.
Instead of banning junk food, schools should add healthier choices to vending machines and lunches but still offer "junk food" as well. Also, more attention should be spent on educating our children about food choices. Give them options and let them make their choice. By teaching them, they will be able to make better choices when they are on their own.
Question: Should the USA take an example from the UK and ban junk food advertisements to children? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7166510.stm
I say YES! Childhood obesity is so high in the USA and junk food companies brainwash children into wanting food (you see it, you want it that is scientific fact)
Answer: NO, it is the parents fault.
people always point the finger at someone else, if the parents didn't buy the junk food for the kid, they wouldn't be little fat fu
Question: Should we ban junk food like chips, soda and cookies from food stamp purchase and instead allow hygienic goods? Ban junk food but allow shampoo. tooth paste and toilet paper.
Answer: No, people have the ability to decide for themselves whether they eat healthy or not eat healthy. Why punish the people who only eat junk foods once a month or less because joe slob can't get off his butt and take responsibility for his life.
Question: What are arguments to why they should ban junk food in school?
Answer: 1. It's not healthy
2. It creates bad diet habits for the children
3. It lowers the children's mental and physical abilities by not providing adequate nutrition
4. Banning junk food shows that the school cares about their students, thus making it a more desirable school.
Counter Ideas:
1. It's cheap
2. It's easy to prepare for the lunch ladies.
Any counters to the argument that is for banning junk food are lame, as you can see, and can be easily dealt with.
Question: Where the Conservatives right to oppose junk food advertising ban? Or don' t they care about rising levels of obesity? Same old Tories. Look after big business, not the little people.
Answer: Yes they were right. It is not Government's job to censor what people should or should not eat. It should be down to the parents to decide what their children eat, not the Government. The one thing Government can do is, via taxation, make sure that healthy food is available at a price that is on a par with the non-healthy option.

Question: JUNK FOOD BAN IN SCHOOLS? think about this,
if you where still/are in school, would you want to ban junk food in schools in America? think about it. American is a free country, do you want the government telling you what to eat? Don't communist countries do that? hmm.. i need Facts of why you should NOT ban junk food in school, opinion is fine too(:
Answer: You have asked several questions.
a) If I was at school I would say ban junk food.
b) The Govt can't tell me what to eat, but the school can tell me what they will be selling and as most get Govt. funding they will do what the Govt. says.
c) Communist countries would give you about as much choice as any other.
d) I can't think of a valid reason not to ban junk food.
Opinion The US is the nation 2nd to Australia of fatties, and if action isn't taken now, in future years the medical profession will be over run by fatties needing treatment.
It seems few parents care about what they or their children eat and it isn't unusual for them to have junk foods every night "because it's easier" than making a decent healthy meal.
If that disagrees with you then I am sorry, but that IS the way I see the facts.
Question: Junk food ban in schools? I would like to know other peopls opionions and thoughts on this. I personally believe that junk food shouldnt be banned in schools. I think banning junk food and putting in healthy food is only limiting their options, not teaching them what they should and shouldnt eat. Also, kids should be taught how to eat healthy and how to be physically active to prevent obesity. Depleating junk is only restricting what they can eat in school, like I said previously. My last point is that, schools also feed kids fried chicken, pizza, and cheesburgers. This food can be just as bad as chips and candy. Those are just some of my supporting details. What is your opinion on this topic?
Answer: i think it stinks because i am an educator and when i am dying for a pepsi and a candy bar in the middle of the day there is no where for me to buy one in the school just because they have taken away my right to choose if i wanna be fat or not.i am an adult, a staff member and i cant even buy junk...if i wanna get fat and die then let me,,its my body and my life...ugghhhh dont even get me started...i am also a parent and i think my child shoud get the choice as to what he buys and eats...but i dont want to get on my soap box here,...
Question: Explanation on why schools shouldn't ban junk food!? I am doing a report on "Should schools ban junk food".
I don't think they should but i need an explanation on why i think junk food should stay.
Can someone please help me and give me some more information on why schools shouldn't ban junk food.
10 points for best answer!
Thanks! :)
Answer: The best reason not to ban junk food is education.
Schools are there to prepare students for the real world. If schools ban junk food, students don't have to learn how to make good choices. Instead, the choice is made for them. Then, when they go off to college or a job, they are bombarded with tons of junk foods and have never had the experience of learning to say no and they'll love the variety they never had. Soon, they'll put on the so-called "Freshman 15" and more weight.
Question: Should the Government, in the state of Wisconsin ban junk food...? DEBATE:
Should the government, in the state of Wisconsin ban junk food from all publicly owned areas?
(need help.. i think NO. what do you think? NEED FACTS!
Answer: No, The school lunchroom is not allowed to serve water at my nephews' school, because the government banned drinks that had no nutritive value. They have to buy it from a machine if they want water (may be why soft drink companies went along with ban). Water is considered more important to the human body than food. A human being can live longer without food than without water. The ban was originally supposed to be so your federal tax dollars did not subsidize food and drinks without nutritional value. But government will screw up anything and you end up banning both good and bad with the good banned as a bigger loss than the gain from getting rid of the bad.
People have to learn to make the right choices. Children will not learn that with somebody else making all the decisions for them. Besides, it is not junk food that is the main problem of childhood obesity. It is the lack of physical activity. Some schools don't even allow or require outside recesses. There was junk food in the 50's, 60's, and 70's but since kids did not sit from 7 am to 9 pm in front of a tv, computer or video game, only a very small percentage were overweight and an even smaller % were obese children from ages 6-13.
Tell the local schools supported by local tax dollars to require physical fitness classes in the curriculun instead.
Question: why should schools ban junk food and vending machines? and how should they do that?
thanks
Answer: They should do it because some of the foods they are making available are contributing to the very problems that they are directly opposed to in their health and nutritional courses of study, just for starters. Some other issues the food contributes to are distraction and sugar crashes and poor nutritional value during a day when the kids need energy and real nutrition. These things of course are the immediate results. The worst of it is, it encourages poor eating habits that may follow some of these kids for the rest of their lives.
And "how" should they do it? They should just do it. There are many quick, great tasting, but much healthier alternatives out there for students to choose from for lunch.

All of this has no nutritional value what so ever and I want the UK government to ban it; it causes many diseases and childhood obesity is higher than ever.
The EU should pass a healthy eating bill; forcing the UK to outlaw unhealthy foods and putting the entire population on an EU approved diet. This will cut down on heart disease and other illnesses brought on by food.
The UK is supposed to be a liberal country, smart and full of atheists (atheists read science books; these books tell us junk food is bad)
Answer: I get a dreadful feeling of deja vu - in other words, we've seen and had all this before.
At least HALF of the items you mention are NOT junk food and we don't want the likes of you trying to force your crackpot ideas on us via the EU AGAIN thank you.
As I say: WE'VE SEEN IT ALL BEFORE WHEN YOU CALLED YOURSELF SOMETHING ELSE ABOUT UK & EU=PARADISE.
JUST IN CASE YOU'VE FORGOTTEN, HERE IS MY ANSWER THE FIRST TIME YOU POSTED THIS:
I won't even START to argue over that lot - bread, meat, rice, tea coffee are all junk foods ~~~~~
WHICH PLANET ARE YOU FROM - because it obviously isn't THIS one ! ! !
Healthy eating bill as per the EU - DON'T YOU THINK THEY'VE CAUSED ENOUGH TROUBLE ALREADY WITHOUT STARTING THIS NONSENSE ? ? ?
OH - AND IF YOU THINK SWEDEN IS SUCH A WONDERFUL COUNTRY, WHY AREN'T Y-O-U THERE

Our school got rid of vending machines with Cokes and Monsters and replaced it with a vending machine with Gatorade and Water this Spring Break. Question: An Obesity Increases; Schools should ban Junk Food in Canteens? This is for my essay.
Give me your opinion.
(:
Answer: While I think banning junk food is a good idea, I don't know how effective it would be in decreasing obesity. Schools should definitely offer healthy food options, but kids only eat one meal of the day there. If schools truly wanted to help curb obesity in their students, they should require a nutrition class and offer them personal training at the school gym. After all, poor diet is not the only problem leading to obesity.
Question: How many schools have banned junk food? A lot of schools have been banning junk food lately, and I'd like to know how many (for an essay on junk food).
All help is loved. ^-^
Answer: In the UK most schools have written the junk food off and brought in more healthier meals which i think is good! Because of this though obviously the cost of the school dinners have gone up a bit so most of the children go to chippy's or pizza places to get there dinners because its cheaper, so now, they are thinking about stopping the kids going outside the school property in their break to stop them from getting junk food elsewhere!
