Answer: In larger amounts, L-arginine stimulates the release of hormones growth hormone and prolactin.In the body, L-arginine is used to make nitric oxide, which reduces blood vessel stiffness, increases blood flow, and improves blood vessel function. L-arginine has been used for erectile dysfunction. Like the drug sildenafil citrate (Viagra), L-arginine is thought to enhance the action of nitric oxide, which relaxes muscles surrounding blood vessels supplying the penis. As a result, blood vessels in the penis dilate, increasing blood flow, which helps maintain an erection. The difference in how they work is that Viagra blocks an enzyme called PDE5 which destroys nitric oxide and L-arginine is used to make nitric oxide. L-arginine may lower blood pressure because it is involved in the formation of nitric oxide. It may also result in indigestion, nausea, and headache. L-arginine should not be used following a heart attack. If you have a history of heart disease, consult your doctor before taking L-arginine. Higher doses of arginine can increase stomach acid, so it may worsen heartburn, ulcers, or digestive upset cause by medications. Arginine appears to increase stomach acid by stimulating the production of gastrin, a hormone that increases stomach acid. L-arginine may also alter potassium levels, especially in people with liver disease. People with kidney disease and those who take ACE inhibitors or potassium sparing diuretics should not use supplemental L-arginine unless they are under professional supervision. It may also alter the levels of other chemicals and electrolytes in the body, such as chloride, sodium, and phosphate. Arginine may increase blood sugar levels, so it shouldn't be used by people with diabetes unless under a doctor's supervision. People with genital herpes should not take L-arginine because it may aggravate their symptoms. NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatories such as Ibuprofen) or other drugs that are hard on the stomach should not be combined with L-arginine. Question: Why do websites say children and teenagers should not use L-arginine? I've always read on websites that 'children and adolescents' should NOT use L-arginine when they are still growing. Answer: I wouldn't automatically associate L-Arginine with making children grow taller. Men use it for erectile dysfunction so the last thing anyone needs is an already horny teen running around with raging boners. But, I doubt that's their real reason, too. The truth is, I took L-Arginine/L-Ornithine/L-Tryptophan in big doses when I was 17 and working out and I grew like a Sasquatch. I developed a really hot body but I was also working it out regularly, swimming, lifting, riding bikes, etc. It DOES stimulate growth hormone. So, yeah, that's probably why... kids and teens already produce plenty and I wouldn't recommend it unless you're going to try to create a Greek statue body like I did.

Question: Is it safe to take L-Arginine and what foods contain it or how can i get it? Answer: Supplements may have side-effects, some of them serious. But many people don't get enough vitamins. I doubt that taking an arginine supplement is wise unless recommended by a doctor. Foods rich in arginine include most nuts and seeds, shellfish, turkey, and other meats, fish, dairy, and eggs. Growing up, my younger brother ate his wheaties, and now he's the tallest member of the family. I dont know whether that has anything to do with arginine. People with herpes infections should avoid high intakes of arginine-rich foods. This includes herpes simplex as well as chicken pox. The best thing to do for good health is to get a well-balanced diet, with a variety of nutritious whole-foods, including vegetables, each day.

Answer: idk about the amount of grams you're supposed to take per day, but yes, L-Arginine will help with some erections problems. L-Arginine helps increase bloodflow throughout the body, including your penis. so since the reason u get an erection is because ur penis fills with blood, it only makes sense that having more blood flow into ur penis will not only make it harder, but also might make it bigger and wider as well. hope this helps

Answer: Yes, but not in the way you're thinking. L-Arginine and L-Ornithine are two of the Amino Acids that help give your body the nutrition it needs to produce it's own Growth Hormone, that's true. But more Growth Hormone doesn't mean you'll grow taller. All that being said, nothing can force your body to grow taller than your DNA says you will. There are some things that can take away from your potential height (including smoking, drugs, caffeine, etc), so as long as you stay away from those and have a healthy diet, you should grow as tall as you're supposed to. Besides all that, your growing age normally peaks around 20 years old, so if you're younger than that, you've got plenty of time to finish growing and any HGH pills (or other "artificial growth" products) can actually be detrimental to your height and/or health. If you are over 20 years old, HGH won't help with height anyway because your bones would have already fused. However, if they are insoles, those will help to boost your height because they are adding the height, not making you grow taller. Good luck and hope I helped!

Question: Would L-arginine give me the same effects of a nitric oxide supplement? I was just wondering if an L-arginine tablet would give me the same effects as a nitric oxide supplement like superpump 250 which i am currently taking. i know it wouldn't give me the same energy boost but would it still open up my blood vessels like superpump does?

Answer: yes it would. and when you take the L-arginine take it with some carbonated drink for better absorption.

Question: How much L-Arginine should I give my cat? I picked up L-Arginine as a supplement for my cat. It comes in a 500mg capsule. Is it ok to empty the whole capsule into his food... or maybe just half? He was recently diagnosed with lymphoma. The vet doesn't think he's up to the chemo. We've been trying to build him back up. Now trying a raw diet with various supplements. And then the vet and I might consider an alternative to chemo. Anyway, this is the last-ditch effort before I'd have to just let him go.

Answer: with lymphoma probably need large does though, I am very sorry, I think the cat may need chemotherapy instead. L-Arginine may not able to treat the problem.

Answer: you should split it up and dose every twelve hours. 1 1/2 g in the am and 1 1/2 g in the evening

Ginseng, Cayenne pepper, Garlic, etc. I dont suffer from ED but do get performance anxiety. Answer: I started to take it to help increase blood flow to the extremities not realizing the benefit of it the love making department. Just take a 500 mg capsule 1 time daily for a couple of weeks and see how it goes. That's all I've been taking and it seems to work great for me. I was a little sluggish and had to work harder at keeping it up, L-Arginine cured that problem. Answer: Ginkgo and L-arginine are nutritional supplements that are safe to take together (at a reasonable dose, as with anything, taking too much could be harmful). Both are commonly used for improving circulation which may therefore be also beneficial for erectile dysfunction (ED) (especially if circulation is a cause). Question: Can a solely L-Arginine supplement pill be substituted for expensive Nitric Oxide transducers? From what I understand, Nitric Oxide transducers such as NO Explode is mainly effective due to the higher amounts of L-Arginine. Answer: The amino acid L-arginine performs the same function as the NO transducers like Viagra. In fact that amino acid is referred to by some as the "poor man's Viagra" but the drawback is that abuse of the amino acid may lead to thickening of the tissues which only gets better with time.
