Question: How much is an average utilities bill in Los Angeles? I am planning on getting my own apartment soon and have an area in mind in Los Angeles. I want to know how much gas and electric cost every month since most places seem to cover the water bill. I'm either looking at a single or a 1 bed/1 bath kind of place in Los Feliz area.
Answer: I used to live in Loz Feliz... Very cool.
Your bill will be around $35.00 per month, unless you run the heater all night or something else that consumes electricity.
Ask for the CARE discount if you earn less than $32,000 per year. It will save you about 20% off the monthly cost of your overall bill. Talk to PG & E about applying online.
Question: What type of surgeon makes the most income in Los Angeles? I'm planning on studying to become a surgeon in Los Angeles (or anywhere in california). On average, what type of surgeon makes the most money annually in Los Angeles?
Answer: Don't know specific to Los Angeles but overall Cardiac Surgeons earn the most (about $480K ) closely followed by Orthopaedic Surgeons at about 450K. However surgeons, while right at the top of what professions earn the most are not at the very peak - evidently Radiation oncologists pip even them at about $528K.
Thanks
Bill

Question: What is the flight path from Los Angeles to London? Does anybody know what the flight path is from Los Angeles to London England? I'll be going to England next year & curious about the route that commercial airliners use. We are trying to guage how long it will take having kids and nervous flyers traveling.
Looking for map showing areas or Countries that we will be flying over.
Answer: If you are flying nonstop, you can expect to take a northeasterly course out of Los Angeles that will probably take you over Las Vegas, then Salt Lake City, then track from the southwest corner of Wyoming to the northeast corner, over Bismarck, then over the eastern portion of Ontario, Canada, over Hudson Bay, then northern Quebec, then over southern Greenland, and then northern sections of the UK as you descend into the London area. This is generally a Great Circle route. The link below shows as much of the flight path as FlightAware can manage for United's daily nonstop flight from Los Angeles to London. The other carriers on the route will also fly a very similar path as well.

Question: How is prostitution legal in los vegas, when its illegal everywhere else? I always wondered, why you can legally pick up a hooker in los vegas, but eveywhere else, its illegal. My friend wants to go down to the bunny ranch in Nevada, and play with the bunnies.
Answer: States and counties get to make up there own laws. Some places are dry counties, which means they will not sell alcohol and people drive somewhere else to get the alcohol and bring it home. Some places will not sell cold beer while others will. It is just how the state and counties in the area voted. It is not money buys off the law in the area it is what is voted on and passed in the area.

Question: Where can I find information on Los Angeles Potteries? I recently bought a set of brown spongeware dishes. The mark on the bottom of one of the dishes says Los Angeles Potteries 1971 ovenware. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find some information/history on the company or the dishes. Thanks guys.
Answer: "Located in Lynwood, California Los Angeles Potteries produced artware and pottery from the 1940's - 1960's. "
I copied this quote from the link below.
The second link is an Amazon.com link to books with references to Los Angeles Potteries. If you have the right browser and add-ons, you can look at excerpts of the books - or you can think about buying one of the books if it looks of interest to you.
The third link is a link to the book Collector's Encyclopedia of California Pottery
Question: How do I get big discounts for hotels in Los Angeles area? We are planning a trip to Los Angeles. We want to stay at Santa Monica, but the hotel prices are way too pricey. We may stay in Los Angeles, not sure yet. Depends on hotels. I hear all of the time that there are ways to get big discounts, but I don't know how to do that.
Answer: Triple A is usually the common discount if you're a member.
As far as big discounts, if you're a big traveler you might want to look into becoming a Leisure Travel Consultant. You get great LTC rates on hotels, resorts, cruises, rental cars, etc. As well as make commissions from any sales you make.
If you don't like the idea of being an LTC, you could check out becoming a Dreamtrips member. Hands down they offer the best deals on luxury hotels, resorts, and trips i've ever seen. They're pretty unbelievable. I was sold as soon as I looked at what they had to offer and they keep adding more. With Dreamtrips the deals are for you and a guest/spouse and often includes the kids too. Definitely worth looking into.
Hope this helped.

We are staying with a family member so hospitality, food and travel costs are covered. How much spending money would you suggest we each take? We are both under 21 so we're thinking only a few cheap meals out, light shopping and visiting some sights.
We do not know exactly what we will be doing. We have general ideas but since we are staying with family we don't have a set agenda.
Answer: Every single time I go out to eat me and my friends spend at least $20 on meals... shopping is also nice. Bring about $500 or more.
Question: How to report an immigration violation in Los Angeles, a person working without work permit not paying taxes? How to report an immigration violation in Los Angeles, a person working without work permit not paying taxes?
Answer: Call ICE.
Toll free: 1-866-DHS-2-ICE
But how would you know? They recieve thousands of calls every day from people complaining that some Mexican looking guy has a job. They have better things to do than follow-up on baseless accusations about one cashier at Wendy's.
Question: What are the legit talent agencies in Los Angeles for those wanting to start a career in acting? I'm currently living in Michigan and planning to graduate soon and possibly I'm going to study film in Los Angeles. I was hoping that while at school I can attempt to pursue a career in the performing arts as well. However, I'm aware of many scams and I'm serious about my possibilities of a career in this field and would want to meet or work with someone with professional knowledge. What agencies would be best for newcomers?
Answer: Agents represent actors, not aspiring actors. You need experience and a resume. To gain experience. Audition for school plays and join the drama club. You should also try out for local community theatre shows. Take as many acting classes as possible. Read some books on acting (those by Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg, Kristen Linklater and Jack Poggi are great).
If you feel you are ready, look up auditions on http://www.actorsaccess.com/index.cfm?fl…
http://www.backstage.com/bso/index.jsp
http://actinginfo.blogspot.com/
All three websites are reputable, legitimate and free. You generally need a head shot and resume (this website has great information on creating a resume http://www.bestsampleresume.com/acting-r… When you have enough experience you should begin to look for an agent. Look up agents on the SAG website.
