Question: Lose weight? I'm an 17 yr. old girl who is 5'5" and 140 lbs., medium bone structure. I generally eat healthy (no soda, snacks, etc....) but have recently restarted a daily exercise routine (I stopped after a long vacation in the winter). I'm planning to swim 2x per week, take ballet lessons 2x per week and lift weights 1x per week (1 hr. each). Is it possible for me to lose 15 lbs. by the end of the summer? or is 140 lbs. a healthy weight for me?

have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Answer: ok heres what i suggest, i had the same problem , i am 16 and i got up to 190 lbs and now im at 160, i want t oloose like 10 more but generally i am happy. First Drink WATER all the time . like 4 or 5 nalgiene ( really big) waterbottles full. Do not drink anything carbonated and try and cut out ALL PRESERVITAVES these hold onto fat and make you hungrier. And so you keep the weight off allow yourself to have say 1 juice glass full of soda a week or 1 piece of cake or somthing that wat you wont feel deprived at all. Next you said you dont really have time to workout, ok thats fine but say your going to school park as far from the door as possible and speed walk EVERYWHERE it will be a way of getting a little bit of exercise eventhough you dont really have the time. Or you can do somthing lik ebuy DDR (www.ddrgame.com) and do one or two sets a day (like 10-15 minutes).
Another thing that greatly helped me was walking around naked every chance i got. I know it sounds weird but it helped me to be more comfortable with my body and realize that if i diddnt like somthing it wasnt going to magically change i had to work to make a difference and every small difference was noticable. And the last piece of advice i have to you is when you wake up every morning look into the mirror and say out loud one thing you love about your body or your personality. Having self confidence really helps you stick to what u gotta do. Believe me befor i started doing all that i would get depressed and loose the drive to do somthing about the way i was. It diddnt happen overnight either, it took almost 5 months but it is a safe and healthy way to loose weight and fast

Answer: Muscle weighs more than fat, so it's OK to build muscle while losing fat. Don't be afraid of making muscle.
Eat healthy - don't cut the calories too much, but do eat a smaller amount. Eat fruits and veggies, lean meats, and whole grains (100% whole wheat bread instead of white, brown rice, etc.)
Drink water - cut out the soda/pop. Try to get 8 cups (measuring cups - 8 ounces) of water each day.
Couple a healthy diet with cardio workouts - 3-5 days a week, 20-30 minutes per session to start. You can walk, jog, bike, play basketball, do aerobics... whatever you enjoy doing that gets your heart rate up. You don't have to work out so hard that you feel like you're dying - work out to the point that you can talk fairly easily, but not jabber on and on. :)
Do strength exercises to build muscle (yep, I'm suggesting this). Building muscle helps you lose fat even faster by speeding up your metabolism. Sit ups, push ups, squats, lunges... all these will help. Do these only every other day - don't strength train the same muscles two days in a row.

That's rather low... and im trying to lose ALOT of weight. Im not overweight, but i would like to be thinner. I was hoping to lose around 5 to 7kg in the shortest time possible. And the fact that i seldom exercise makes the matter worse. I've been able to drop my weight previously, but as soon as i started eating a little bit, i gained back all my weight again.
(SERIOUSLY, IT WAS MAD!!! Last year holidays, i dropped 4kg after dieting for like, eternity, mostly by eating a tub of 48kcal yoghurt for breakfast, lemon juice dressing salads and fruits for lunch and a 90kcal alpen light granolar bar for dinner, and after that, i went back to eating normally and by 'normally' i mean eating 3 full meals a day, does not consist of any fried food, sweets, sugary liquids and not much meat, NO milk NO cheese, and reduced my exercise from running 1.2km every alternate day to only cycling once every week, and the devastating fact was that i was gaining 0.5kg everyday.) So all my efforts went down the drain in less than a week. MY GAWD.
so now im trying to diet again, and i am trying to increase my metabolic rate. and the fact that my bmr is low is making me feel helpless. i sleep less than 6 hours a day due to studies and stuff, and therefore have no time to do any form of exercise.
I have to consume less than 1200 kcals aday in order to lose weight at all. i dunno why. or maybe the weight drops too slowly for me to notice any change.

Answer: Well, depending on the dancing, 30 minutes a day, four times a week should be enough exercise. You also need a proper nutritional plan as well. To be in the safe range you should lose 1-2lbs a week and you are working with 8 weeks, so you should be able to do it.

But everyone's body loses weight at a different rate. Someone who jogs everyday while on weight watchers for two weeks could lose 5 lbs where are someone else could lose only 2. A bunch of different things factor into this including what you are eating everyday, how much activity you are doing, how fast your body reacts to exercise (some people need to exercise only days before seeing results while others need to exercise a month before seeing results) how fast your body gains muscle mass, how much water you are drinking, how much water your body retains after exercise and so on and do fourth so there is no way of knowing how much you will lose but cardio IS the best form of exercise for burning fat. Just make sure you are at least doing moderate exercising meaning you are pushing yourself but not too hard (just hard enough that you start to sweat after about 10-15 minutes) and doing at least a half hour of exercise each time.

Question: How to lose the extra weight and become a decent runner? I'm 24 yrs old and weighing in at 235lbs. I try to lose weight and so far nothing has helped. There's nothing wrong with me medically. I joined Weight Watchers and have a gym membership but nothing has helped. I want to lose the weight and actually be able to run for at least half an hour non stop. Currently I cannot run for two minutes without stopping. I'm looking for any advice to help lose the weight and start running; maybe a routine that has helped you.
Answer: Though I'm a girl, I started out pretty darned pudgy and unable to run if my life depended on it. Managed to lose about 30 lbs down to 115 (and I'm fairly short, so that's a solid difference). Start by running for two minutes and walking for a few. Once you've caught your breath, run for two minutes again. Keep doing this for about 45-60 mins. The next time you go running, push it to three minutes before trying to catch your breath again. You can keep pushing it up more and more over the next few months. You should also work on eating more lean foods instead of things heavy in carbs. Just because you worked out doesn't mean you have free reign to eat anything you want.
I used to barely be able to jog slowly for a mile, so far this year I've done four half marathons (all around 8:30 miles) and 2 sprint triathlons, and actually won my age group in the last one (though it was a fairly small one, but I like to forget that part!)

Answer: 1.First start by getting up earlier than usual. Around 5:30 AM to do some of you workouts. Getting up early shocks your metabolism because the body needs more energy to get going. Right? This will start your system on the road to weight loss. That early start with about 10 minutes of stretching. Have a cup of coffee to get the blood going also.
2.Do all the sit-ups you can. Just do them. 15 or 20 whatever, we don't have a lot of time to work with. Rest 1 minute repeat, do this for 6 sets. Already you are breathing hard and feel worn, because the body is working extra hard at being up earlier and then going right into exercise. If the early morning hour lets you get your cardio in, go ahead and do it. 30 minutes.

4.In the evening do another 6 sets of sit-ups maxing out each set. Cardio again. The trick is to stay with getting up earlier. Yes it’s hard, that’s why it is so effective. Why do you think the Army gets up so early, it is intense training to the max.
