Losing Weight
Question: losing weight? i have been struggling with my weight ever since i was a baby. i am just chubby from the get-go, but recently have let my self go. i have this very special occassion coming up so i need to be fit (which means, losing 30 Ibs) i have been exercising and eating sensibily, while limiting my caffeine and carb intake and have lose 5 Ibs in two weeks. That is the normal weight lose, i know but i want to kick it more and see if i can lose more. I walk (fast paced) for an hour most days of the week, and drink lots and lots of water. Is there anything else i can do in order to lose this weight a bit faster..please dont say do resistance training, i hate it.
Answer: I am somewhat thin, and mainly eat bananas and drink Diet Coke. Caffiene is a great weight loss aid, they add that to many diet pills.
Question: Losing Weight......? i need to lose 30 pounds before august 10th!
I am 13, and 5"2 i weigh 141lbs!
I am planning to lose that much weight before school starts!
But how?I
I need like a diet out line or something or a online trainer that is willing to help me with losing weight. Please i need help really bad a young teenager shouldn't weigh this much!
Answer: Alright lets see what we can cook up here!
Firstly - Don't try to lose too much, too fast (the faster it comes off the faster it comes on) with one method.
The absolute best way to lose weight is with a three prong strategy.
Build a little muscle - This IS important for girls
Do some aerobic activity - Run, Jog, Cycle.
Eat healthy.
Do Not :
Eat too little or starve yourself
Think that only aerobics will help you lose weight, because it's not true, weights can help a lot.
Make sure you balance your protein and carb intake.
If this is starting to get confusing, then remember protein is low fat cheese, lean meat/chicken/fish/tuna, low fat yogurt.
Every meal eat roughly half carb and half protein.
Make sure your carbs are low G.I
Drink 2 cups of water EVERY hour.
Eat more lettuce, celery, cucumber, capsicum, chillies, ginger, garlic, onions, tomatoes and spring onions.
Eat 6 small meals per day not 3 big ones.
Find a sugar substitute like splenda or nutrasweet.
If you drink soda - drink diet.
Good luck and here is some info on Low G.I Foods

Question: Losing WEIGHT!!? right, well im thinking of losing abit of weight, just like toning up aswell. So i was thinking as i have no money so cant afford gym, if this would actually help.. Cutting out all my snacks and just having my 2 meals (lunch and dinner) an hour a day on my crosser that i have at home. a few sit-ups in the morning and before bed. would this help? and do you have any other tips that would help me?
Thanks
Answer: go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If you don't eat wheat then you don't eat all those sticky, fatty goey cakes, you don't eat junk food, and you don't eat biscuits. But your diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to calculate points or to buy special meals or plans.
Question: How does losing weight process work and why after several months of working out nothing happens? I heard first when you start the losing weight (diet and excercise) you first lose 8-10 pounds of water and after that you lose about 2-3 pounds a week on average. What is the process how long do you have to wait for the first 8-10 pounds of water weight? Why also after working out several months after you lost some weight nothing happens. I heard it's called a "platue" and you have to find some way to shock your body so you can continue to lose weight. So if anyone knows please help and let me know and can you please be detailed about it? Provide me about how many months for the first sign of weight loss and so on. Thanks much!!
Answer: Good lord, "shock your body"??
I hope you are not literally meaning a shock treatment. I suggest you check out a great program called "You: on a diet".
One common myth my MD tried to do was to get me on a low-cal low-carb eat next to nothing diet. Then this book pointed out how that is the WRONG thing to do. Mind you, they do not mean go wild at the table, but they approach waist loss in a different manner.
They feel if you work unnatural things out of your body, such as processed sugar, flour, etc. Your body, if you also do some exercise, will begin to regulate itself. If you starve it, you body considers that food is hard to find, so it needs to store additional fat, as much as possible, to get you through the winter without starvation.
It is facinating all the things I have learned, and I know my doctors must've known this. But these two doctors also read the CD version of their book, and put out a DVD 30 minute workout. I am working on the CDs, and then the DVD.
Also, if I slip at say Thanksgiving with a piece of pie, I will not feel like I blew it. Moreso I will make myself a thanksgiving dinner, without the sweets and lots of natural stuff, and I will eat that, (maybe a little tukey or ham).
The doctors also state how todays beef has about 90% more fat than it did when we all farmed and grew our own food. Good luck!
Question: What is the difference between losing weight and losing inches? I've been working out and I've lost 6 lbs, and I notice a significant weight loss and saw some loss of inches in my waist; and I was going to go to a spa and I wanted to get a "European Body Wrap", and they have said that the body wrap doesn't make you lose weight, it just gets rid of inches. So what is the difference? I thought by losing weight you also lost inches, I didn't think they were two different things.
Answer: Ok girl I'll lay this one out for you. Losing weight is just losing overall weight, like going from 120 to 116. Losing inches mean you may weigh the same but its just distributed differently, like your waist goes from 22" to 20" but you still weight 120. Hope this helps!
Question: How to lose weight in my thighs without losing all of my muscle? I have a really small stomach and every time i try losing weight I end up losing weight from my stomach and butt. Is there any things i can do to lose weight on my thighs without losing muscle or without losing any more weight from my butt.
Answer: I lost weight fast eating primarily fruits and vegetables, rice, beef, poultry, unsweetened fruit juice, and soup. I feel great. Please go to http://www.dietzone.webs.com for free information.
Question: What is the best way to lose weight without losing your breasts? Hi. Is there anyway you can lose weight without losing your breasts or losing weight but getting the size of your breasts bigger?
Answer: That's the first thing to go on me too! Try working your pectoral muscles underneath your breasts. That won't make them bigger but working the muscles will make them perkier.
Question: What are the risks of losing weight while pregnant? I'm overweight and losing weight. I'm not doing it on purpose. Actually I'm trying to eat more every day, but I keep losing a quarter pound a day. I'm not vomiting at all. I don't know why this is happening and I can't seem to stop it. What are the risks to the baby if I continue to lose weight?
I'm eating about 3x what I normally would eat before I got pregnant. More than double my husband.
Just wanted to let everyone know that my first trimester is almost over and I have stopped losing weight.
Even though I lost a few pounds, my belly is still growing outward and very round. In fact, it looks like I've gained weight.
Thanks so much for all of your advice and concern. I did check with a doctor and also went for a second opinion. Everything is fine since I'm a super healthy eater. They assume the weight loss is from all the sleep that I have been doing.
Thanks again everyone.
Answer: As long as you are not doing it on purpose, you are fine. Just make sure you are eating what you are supposed to be eating. I have lost and gained weight throughout my entire pregnancy. I once lost 9 lbs in just a few days. My doctor said as long as I'm drinking enough water and I'm eating what I'm supposed to be eating, the baby will be fine. Fetuses take what they need, even if it's at the expense of the mother. So, basically, your baby is taking from you and that's why you are losing the weight. Just bring it up at your next doctor's appointment. But I wouldn't worry about it.
Question: How do I lose weight without losing your period? Is it possible to lose 10-13lbs for the summer without losing my period and mainaing my weight after?/ I'm 5''2 and a half and 126lbs, am I over weight?
I know that everyone has their own set weight goal blah blah blah, but do you think thta it is heavy? Becasue I do, but no one believes me.
Answer: That is NOT heavy. Also, if you really work hard you could possibly lose that weight. But you honestly dont need to.
Question: How do i lose weight without losing muscle? I am in wrestling and ive noticed that when i am losing weight, it seems that im losing muscle too. I wear sweats to practice so i sweat a lot. Ive lost around 10lbs (i weigh around 120lbs now) since the season started and i cant lift as much weight as i used to.
I am in wrestling and ive noticed that when i am losing weight, it seems that im losing muscle too. I am 17 and around 5'2 I wear sweats to practice so i sweat a lot. Ive lost around 10lbs (i weigh around 120lbs now) since the season started and i cant lift as much weight as i used to.
Answer: Okay bro, Idk your stats..like age, height or what not. I know wrestlers, like boxers need to maintain a certain weight, but keep that speed and strength. When your torking muscle off, it can lead into declined strength....maybe not your reason, but still. Also when losing weight in itself, it can cause strength losses. However, to answer your question, maybe its your training. I mean you can be muscular, but still be at 10% b/f. If you lift for bulk its 4-8 reps. However, for someone like you, who needs that agility, doing reps of 8-10 will help add muscle, but not overbulk you. For losing or toning reps of 12-15 are usually done. Now thats the weight training aspect. I think that may not be your problem though, as I am sure you know proper weight training.
So, it could be the lack of protein your are taking in. Also, even though you are losing weight, you can still get some carbs in. And if you find that too much, hit the treadmill to hit the carbs off. See if you are trying to lose weight and keep muscle and strength, it can be hard. It's sorts counter productive. Thats why after weigh ins ppl carn load before matches. Also body builders in magazines, dont look ripped like they do all year round. It would be insane for then to be at 6% b/f all year round while training to add muscle. I think see how much portein ur getting. For 120lbs, get about 60-70 g of it a day. Some might suggest a little more protein. And dont rely on protein shakes either. Eat fish, chicken, turkey, and small amounts of tuna( too much can mess with ya if ur sensitive ). You can have beef, just limit it. Also whole wheat pasta( watch though cause pasta has alot of cals ) even has protein. Yogurt has protein. You also want to eat eat all natural goods foods. Stay away from MSG, like taco bell for protein fuel. Metabolism and adjusting it can help, but it seems since you can lose weight okay, your metab might be okay. What I mean is that your metabolism may not be slow. Also eating smaller portion meals just more frequent, like 4-5, can be good causese your providing your body with steady amounts of protein throughout the day. If you cant eat 4-5 meals, then just maybe 3 and light snacks that are good for you, just make sure your eating good when you do eat.If your workout regiment is good, you should be able to take in some okay amounts of carbs and cals and still keep shape. So, if your workouts are good, then its probably the protein intake for loss of muscle. Also, you could be overtraining in the gym! This is a rookie mistake. People think that if they workout all alot it will make them bigger, not if your over training. Here is a sample workout:
Day 1
Bench press
Dips
Tricep pushes
Day 2
Bent over rows
Lat pull downs/ upright rows/or chin ups...
Bicep curls
Day 3
Squats/ or deadlifts
Leg extensions/ or presses
Calve raises
See you dont need to work out 7 days a week. Reason, your doing compound movements. For instance, rows are a back exercise, but they hit your Biceps, shoulders, and traps also. Bench press hits your chest, but also hits your triceps and shoulders. So what I am saying is, you dont need to do Bicep curls, concentration curls, preacher curls, ands hammer curls for biceps. For some people, especially small people, thats too much. Also people make the mistake of training every muscle group twice a week, in some, thats overtraining. Most people just do it once a week.
Now what I said doesnt apply to everyone. Some people can take more training than others. Also, some people need to intake more or less than others. However, most likely your problem is in one of those areas, either your protein or training. The workout I gave you was an example workout. It has compunds in there and some minor isolations. Some people like to do more or even less than what I gave an example of.
Question: How do you stay committed to losing weight? I've been on and off trying to lose weight since the 5th grade. It seems that I start of good but then I just suddenly lose interest or fall off that fast. I don't know what's wrong with me. I can't stay committed to losing weight! What can I do to keep me motivated? Has any one else been in my predicament?
Answer: When I lose focus or desire there's usually a minimum I commit myself to. In those 'tired' or 'uncommitted' moments I don't try to 'convince' myself to do it - I know that as long as I do a 'preset' minimum - then I'll be okay.
The minimum for me is this (I call it the go-with-the-flow approach): in the moments I don't feel like exercising or being all gong-ho about weight control, I keep myself at eating half portions even if I don't feel there's a point. This makes me feel like all is not lost and i don't end up all depressed.
I've spent enough time with me by now to know that my mood dictates a lot but I used to let it dictate more. I had to keep some control in some way so this is how I decided to cope. Once upon a time (almost 3 years ago), I reached a peak of over 200 pounds. I let my moods RULE me. Now I'm in my 130s (been this way for 2 years) and quite happy. I'm 5'7"and med. framed.
For me, my crappy and 'unwilling' moods make me NOT want to exercise or be physical. I may just want to surf the net or lounge around and mope (heh) but as long as I'm doing that preset minimum then I won't descend too far! Also as part of my minimum, while couch-potatoing I'll do leg raises to work my abs....keeps my tummy flat.
I just KNOW the maniacal, enthusiastic energy will be back around once again to sweep me off into a work-out or walking/spinning frenzy, so I don't sweat it! lol
I'm not sure if this is helpful for most who struggle with consistency but this is what works for me!
Question: Should i concentrate on losing weight first or go ahead start building muscle? Ima 20 year old guy and looking to get back into shape. I played football in the past and was in great shape. But i got lazy lost my muscles and gained weight. Im now a poster boy for couch potatoe.
I was just wondering if losing the weight first should be my first concern before building muscle again.
And also was just curious about Creatine and if it will affect my loss of weight since it makes you gain muscle weight.
Answer: yes because that weight will become into musle and the extra weight will just stay there.
Question: How do I lose weight without losing my boobs first? I want to lose weight, but I am too scared to do anything about it because I am scared of losing my boobs which i love. And due to this, I am gaining even more weight. Is there a way to lose weight but not boobs? Because im a hundred percent sure they say you dont choose where the weight is lost.
Answer: .'They' are right, you don't choose where you lose weight from (your body does). You can pad your bra or get implants...get the fat off. It's not worth being overweight to have boobs. If your breasts were the size they are now before you gained weight, chances are weight loss won't affect them. If they got larger as you gained, then expect them to get smaller as you lose.
I went from a "B" cup to a "D" and back when I gained weight and lost it. I don't regret for a moment that I'm no longer obese. My breasts are small and saggy now (from having been big for years, then losing the weight too fast) but I can wear pretty bras to lift them, make them look bigger, and a 'lift' and implants are definitely on my mind. Even if I don't go that route though, I wouldn't want the fat back.
You are more than your boobs...take care of you.
Question: How do I burn fat without losing more weight? Burn fat to show off a more toned body without losing alot of weight. I gained weight because i didnt liked how I looked when I was really thin. Then I got a little chubby, then when I tried burning fat I made a low cal diet and lost weight. Now i'm at the weight I want again, How do I burn fat from stomach and have tight without losing too much weight?
Answer: 12 Tips for Atkins Diet
1. If what you are eating has less than 1 carb, count it as 1 carb just to be sure.
2. Totally avoid caffine at least for the first two weeks on the program.
3. Drink a MINIMUM of 8 glasses of plain water or seltzer daily.
4. Don't weigh yourself more than once a week
5. Take starting measurements as well as weight - sometimes you'll lose inches before pounds
6. Avoid any type of "low carb" sweetener for the first two weeks
7. Don't compare your loss to someone else's - this is a YMMV thing (your milage may vary)
8. Stalls are common around the third week so don't panic
9. If you follow your plan to the T and don't lose, consider Candida as a possibility and avoid vinegar, cheese, mushrooms and any other fermented food
10. Have bloodwork done before starting so you have a comparison
11. Cholesterol can be elevated in the first few weeks til your body adjusts - make sure your doctor knows that you're doing low carb and when you started
12. Don't blame the diet if you don't read your plan book -- blame the diet if you don't read the labels -- Don't blame the diet if you don't follow the diet

Question: How effective is water fasting in losing weight? I am around 5'6 and weigh 160 lbs. I would really like to lose weight fast- potentially fifteen or twenty pounds. I have heard water fasting is both good for losing weight, and is also beneficial to gastro-intestinal health.
Is water fasting as effective as it is said to be?
Answer: Some people fast one day a week as they believe it cleans out their system. However any more than that and you are basically starving yourself - so yes you would loose weight. However, the second you start eating again expect to gain it all back and then some. The reason is that when your body goes into "famine mode" you are telling it there isn't enough food to be had, so it holds onto every calorie you consume.
Also, all "loose weight quickly" schemes are guaranteed to have a rebound effect - where you loose the weight and then gain it all back with extra. There isn't ANY that maintain that quick loss. If you don't believe me, post some questions about weight loss and specific diets and see the responses you get.
You are much better off to eat a balanced diet rich in fruits, veggies, lean protein and low in carbs. That is the best way to maintain a healthy weight. (exercise is also very important and not only keeps you healthy, but gives you a toned physic.)
Sorry but there just aren't any quick fixes that don't cause more harm then good.
Question: How can I lose inches from my waist without losing too much weight? I am 5'6 and weigh approximately 120 lb so I really don't want to lose weight... I have a small frame & relatively small chest and hip measurements but have a lot of belly fat. I know that you can't spot reduce. I was planning on doing some sort of cardio at least 3 times a week in addition to strength training... but won't I lose weight then? I am more interested in losing inches from my waist than losing weight.
Answer: Do lots of crouches, sit ups, side crunches stuff like that.
This will help you lose were you want to lose.
