Low Carb Fast Food
Question: What are good fast food choices for high protein / low carb ? I always get tired when my lunch contains combination of carbs and protein, since the body digests them differently.
I usually fraternize a famous chicken restaurant, and get chicken, corn torillas (low carb), salsa and salad.
No carbs or bad food combining with those items...
Answer: When I did low-carb, I liked Wendy's Chicken BLT salad, minus the croutons, with Ranch dressing.

Question: i just ate a fast food hamburger and fries, but im on a low carb no sugar diet. I FEEL SO FAT how do i? How do I get it out of me without throwing up? I'm desperate I feel like such a fatass and so disgusting, I can't believe I let myself eat that.
Please help??? I don't want to gain ANY weight, I need to lose weight.
I am 5'2 and 145 lbs. (previously did gymnastics, so i have alot of muscle mass.)
Answer: If you've been on a low carb plan for 3 days, then all your glycogen stores are empty & you've just refilled them. This will delay weight loss, but it won't store fat. You will probably gain water weight from the carbs, but as you deplete glycogen stores, those will be gone also. I do not recommend cheating the first 6 weeks but an ooops happens & it's not a biggie. Regular cheats during the first 6 weeks will cause your metabolism to slow down - the body will just shut down & wait for a return to carbs rather than convert to burning fat for fuel.
There is no reason to ever go off a low carb way of eating, you slowly re introduce carbs to your way of eating & as long as you don't exceed 9grams of carbs an hour (144 carbs a day) you won't trigger insulin (the fat storage hormone) no matter the calories. Most of us do low carb most of the time & if we cheat & slip back into low carb the next day. I still cheat with sugar occasionally. It's just not a regular part of my life (as it was preAtkins, 6 years ago, when I felt it controlled me & I had no control)
The rungs to reintroduction of carbs in 5 gram units - all available to very active people in as little as 11 weeks. Make sure you do them in order & you can skip a rung if you do not intend to include it in your permanent way of eating, such as the alcohol rung.:
* (minimum week 3 - maximum 25grams day) Acceptable vegetables, larger quantities
* (minimum week 4 - maximum 30grams day) Add 5grams Fresh cheese
* (minimum week 5 - maximum 35grams day) Add 5grams Nuts and seeds
* (minimum week 6 - maximum 40grams day) Add 5grams Berries
* (minimum week 7 - maximum 45grams day) Alcohol can be added if desired
* (minimum week 8 - maximum 50grams day) Add 5grams Legumes
* (minimum week 9 - maximum 55grams day) Add 5grams Other fruits
* (minimum week10 - maximum 60grams day) Add 5grams Starchy vegetables
* (minimum week11 - maximum 65grams day) Add 5grams Whole grains
If you are continuing to lose or maintain (whichever is goal) in week 12 & beyond, you continue to add 5grams a day per week til you reach your personal carb level.
Many people gain weight on high carb, then switch to low carb to lose weight & then are shocked when they return to high carb that they gain weight. Many people can return to moderate carb levels but very few can really eat all they want of sugar and maintain weight or health.
You will lose more body fat eating protein and fat (don't eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast eat all you want but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter and half an avocado a day (you'll need added potassium). Keep the calories high and the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Adding in green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.
Your body won't release fat stores if you lower calories below what it needs. It will slow your metabolism to compensate and store every spare ounce as fat. If you continue lowering your calories, it will continue lowering that set point, til you can survive off nothing and store fat on anything. The body will only release it's fat stores if it knows there is plenty of food.
Eating carbs while trying to lose body fat is terribly inefficient. When in glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) you have to lower your calories (which slows your metabolism) and exercise heavily to deplete your glycogen stores before burning body fat.
The core of the Atkins program is converting your body from glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) to ketosis (burning fat as fuel). You need to keep your fat levels at >65% of your calories, if you don't your body will still remain in glycolysis by converting 58% of excess protein into glucose (via gluconeogenesis).
Carbohydrates trigger insulin (the ONLY fat storage hormone). Protein triggers the fat burning hormone glucagon.
High insulin levels unbalance other hormones. Controlling your insulin level will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so you will gain lean muscle even without exercise.
Ground flax seed (4 Tbsp) 1/4 cup water, artificial sweetener, mix in a raw egg - let sit 10 min. to absorb liquid, put some cream cheese in the middle & nuke 2 min for daily fiber needs.
The first 2 weeks you can have several cups a day of (mostly) lettuce & celery, cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, peppers and more variety of vegetables thereafter add 5 grams per day additional (20 grams day first 2 weeks, 25grams 3rd week, 30grams 4th week etc) every week. As long as you remain <9grams carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control, & shouldn't gain weight no matter the calories, because insulin the only fat storage hormone is not triggered.
Question: Could you lose more weight on a high fat, lower carb diet, than a low fat diet with a higher carb intake? In other words, if you ate fast food, but limited your carb intake compared to eating healthily with a higher carb intake.
Since the general rule for weight loss is to expend more calories than you intake, I think this is possible, although there may be health issues. What are your thoughts?
Answer: no eating fast food is not a good idea cause you may thinking that you are eating low in calories food but fast foods have a lot of fat, salt, sugar too and you will become fat. so eating healthy is better.
Question: i want to start a low carb diet, what foods should i buy for fast results?
Answer: Lots of veggies. But the right ones. Atkins has a few great books with the calorie/carb count. It will surprise you. It is "Easier" to avoid the bad things in my opinion. Bad Carbs? Pasta, Sugar, Potatoes and so on.
Question: I have been eatling low carb for almost 2 weeks because I am insulin resistant? It actually helps with the insulin resistance and I feel better.
But I am tired of chicken and cheese for lunch.
Low carb hot dogs, sick of deli meat
chicken, eggs and bacon.
Can you tell me some other lo carb foods I can switch to?
I am getting burnt out on my current meals.
I am losing weight also. Started out at 188 and now at 182.
Not moving from the 182 very fast.
Answer: Insulin resistance is type 2 diabetes. I don't know if your doctor told you that or not, but it is true. You can also eat meals that have no more than 45 grams of carb for each meal. Meat does not have carbs, so you can have meat (lean cuts) and 2 veggies. Just learn to count the carbs, and it is very simple and you can certainly still lose weight. This way, you can eat foods that you like and have a variety of different things. It is how many, many diabetics eat, and is what most nutritionists suggest. You can also try the South Beach diet. Many nutritionists suggest it. It is easy to follow, teaches you about good and bad carbs, gives you lists of things you can and cannot eat, and has recipes. You can also lose very quickly on it. It's a good, safe diet for diabetics, and many of them use it. Make an appointment with a dietitian or nutritionist and she can help you a whole lot.

Question: How do I tell my stepdaughter that she is fat? Ever since her mom died, she has turned to food, and when I tried only buying low-carb foods, she started asking constantly for Wendy's and fast food. She might have even been better off before!
As it stands now, she has fat friends also, and I recommended her to join girls basketball, but given her limited choices for girls-sports in junior high, which she doesnt like.
I know that high school is just around the corner, and nobody is going to date a cow. Or I dont want her to sleep around from low self esteem or to do drugs in high school?
Am I making this more than it is out to be? Its not my daughter, but I feel real bad. I bought her a tennis racket, but I'm the only person she wants to play with, and guess what!!! The fast food district is only a block away!
What am I to do???
Please someone tell me. I have never told her that I want her lean. Please this question is limited to women answers only. If you're a male, then you're no help to this question.
Answer: Why do you want to tell your stepdaughter she's fat?
I don't know to what degree you are responsible for her, but I'm assuming you are. I would say to get her into counseling to deal with her emotions from losing her mother. Beyond that, you should do nothing but be there for her through her loss. I mean that, nothing. Losing her mom will affect her more than her weight. I have a much younger brother who is probably the same age as your daughter. We lost our father six months ago. My brother has changed a lot since then, and that was initially hard to deal with, but counseling and support from family helps, I think.
About the weight specifically, I'll give you my perspective. When I was a kid, my father used to nag me time and time again, from the time I was in elementary school, about what I ate and how what I ate made me fat, and how being fat was a horrible thing. I already knew I was fat, because I was made fun of for it all the time in school. I didn't need to hear it at home. He did this until I was starting high school, when my mother finally told him to stop.
How did I handle what my father said? I got into closet eating...I would hide junk food and binge on it when my parents went to bed, and then eat more crap at school from the vending machines, since my dad wasn't around to tell me not to eat it. When I look back on it now, I was probably about 5-10 pounds overweight at 7-8 years old. I was pudgy, but not unhealthily fat. But after I started disordered eating habits due to the nagging at home, I grew to be obese, and was 80 pounds overweight by the time I graduated high school.
The funny thing is this...In high school I wasn't into drugs, and I didn't sleep around. I had fat friends, and they did have boyfriends. All of us did "high school" things, like go to prom, stuff like that. It all depends. I didn't have a boyfriend through most of high school, and much of that is because my self-esteem went to crap, much of it because of what I dealt with in school before that, and what I heard at home. It took until the past year or two to build my self-esteem up and begin to get the weight off, and I'm now 26. I don't think that your stepdaughter is destined to be lonely, or a whore, or a drug addict, just because she's fat. That doesn't has to be her destiny, but it will all depend on her.
Your stepdaughter is probably not stupid. If I were a betting woman, I would bet she knows she is fat. The fact that she has fat friends is more help for her than you will ever be, because they can relate to her in a way that you cannot. You bugging her about her weight and telling her things she probably already knows (the social stigma of being overweight) is not going to help. If anything, I will tell you from experience that this will not only hurt her feelings, but it will not achieve the desired effect. If it did, I guarantee that the US would not have an obesity "epidemic."
You need to check your own motives...why does her weight gain bother you? Is it because of her health, or because fat people make you uncomfortable? You need to be honest with yourself, and take care of your own issues. But either way, support your stepdaughter in whatever she decides to do later on about her weight (she probably will at some point), but do not pressure her to lose it.

Question: Why can't I stick to a low carb diet, any help? I try so hard to eat low carb, but I always wind up giving in at the end of the day. I think the longest I've ever lasted is three days. By the end of the day I wind up eating fruits or breads or cereal and milk. I get bored with the food so fast! It's just not the same as eating my carby foods...
Answer: Low carb probably isn't a good way of eating for your bodies type and needs. Instead of low carb, consider looking into eating a diet full of "good carbs" (low glycemic index carbs like oatmeal, brown rice, whole wheat breads and pasta). You can buy lower carb versions of bread, cereal and pasta in the grocery store and these will keep you full longer than the regular stuff. Eat low glycemic index foods along with vegetables and good fats and that will be much more healthier and more satisfying. A low carb diet isn't for everyone, some people just need more carbs!
Question: Im 15 How to get more muscle definiton? Over summer i weight lifted quite alot. I mean 5 times a week, chest, biceps, tri, and back. I did a little cardio. Summer is over and i noticed i have gotten bigger muscular wise but im not happy about the fact that i dont look ripped and cut up. When im in the gym doing the lifting, i look like a beast dont mean to brag. I enjoy and love working out and im trying to have a better physique. My arms and chest have gotten bigger but i still think there is fat covering the muscle. I would love to be cut up. Even though i weight lift more than some men at the gym it doesnt show. Believe me i do enough weight. I am desperate to be cut up. I have been searching all over the internet and all these programs where you have to pay. Im basically looking for an answer from someone who is deep detail with workout routine and a good diet program for me. Thank you i would really appreciate it.
Answer: Dont forget diet. Eat lean proteins & fresh veggies. Small meals every 2,3 hours.
Lower the weights so you can do 15,12,12,10 reps on 3 or four sets. Take 24 hour rest between for small muscle groups, 48 hours rest for large ones.
Try HIIT, basically walk/run cardio 3 times a week.
