Lower Blood Pressure
Question: How can one lower their blood pressure naturally without prescription drugs? My dad has high blood pressure and was prescribed some medication to lower it. He has to keep taking it for as long as his doctor tells him it's ok to stop but his medication (Tarka) is pretty expensive and sometimes he can't afford it so he just stops taking it. I worry that something might happen to him when he does this. Does anyone know where I can find Tarka for less (he currently pays $72 for a 30 day supply of Tarka 2/240mg) or do you know of a natural way to lower blood pressure?
Answer: Holy buckets, he should not start and stop. Exercise will lower blood pressure, but not all are able to exercise effectively. Write this number down. 1-877-321-6755 or go to freedrugcard.us. Get a free prescription card. It doesn't pay the whole bill, but it sure will help.
Question: How can you lower blood pressure without medication? I have somewhat high blood pressure right on the edge of being stage one hypertension. I don't want to take medication because A.) I don't have insurance at the moment and B.) Blood pressure medication is bad for the liver.
So the question is: how can I lower my blood pressure without using medication? Thanks!
Answer: 1. Lose weight if you're overweight.
2. Reduce sodium intake. try to keep it under 2,200 milligrams a day.
3Reduce your alcohol intake. try not to exceed a drink a day. Also, stop smoking.
4, Exercise more frequently.
5. Eat a diet low in fat, saturated ,fat sodium, and colesterol. And increase your intake of legumes.
Question: does exercise still lower blood pressure if a person is not already overweight? I've read everywhere that exercise can help lower your blood pressure because it will help you lose weight. I'm already skinny and won't lose anymore weight when exercising. Will it still help lower my blood pressure? In other words does exercise lower blood pressure ONLY because it lowers weight? Or are there other reasons/factors?
Answer: Yes, it will lower your blood pressure, but don't overdo any physical. Walking and eating less will help you retain your normal BP.
Avoid all risk factor simply walk and walk.OK.
Question: Does lifting weights lower blood pressure in the long run? I know that when you lift weights, you get a temporary increase in blood pressure. But over the long run, does weight training ultimately lower your blood pressure?
Answer: Initially, during the exercise, blood presure is initially increased, but the after effects of prolonged weight lifting loweres blood preeure due to increased vasodilation(increased opening size in the veins and arteries-easier blood flow). Visit naturescorner.com,my website.
Question: How to lower blood pressure with medications? What over the counter drugs are used to lower blood pressure?
Even drugs that may only lower it as a side effect.
Thank you!
Answer: All anti-coagulents help by thinning the blood: Aspirin etc. But you might have other complications, it's not wise to self medicate without a full picture of what's going on.

Question: How do you lower blood pressure through lifestyle choices? I heard and read about drug companies promoting their products for hypertension and bribing/influencing panels to lower standards for what is considered high blood pressure. These drugs have extreme side effects for some people. The older and cheaper diuretics are more effective for most people and have fewer serious side effects, but physicians are over prescribing the newer drugs.
Hypertension is a side effect not a disease. For most people is the result of lifestyle choices. Many people can prevent hypertension through diet, exercise, stress reduction, and other lifestyle choices.
For some people, drugs are important. For most people, a lifestyle choice would be better. For most people, the side effects of newer drugs are more harmful than the benefits. In many cases, life expectancy when using these drugs is reduced, despite what the honorable Dr. Oz (corporate sellout) claims.
What are your recommendations for lowering blood pressure through lifestyle changes?
My claims are supported by the book:
"Selling Sickness: Pharma Industry Turning Us All Into Patients"
by Ray Moynihan, a health journalist, and Alan Cassels, a policy researcher
The DASH—Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension—diet was developed for a US government agency. Sadly, the US government has earned a reputation as being biased toward large corporations. I don't trust a word of this study, especially the support of the dairy industry lobby. Dairy is not the best source of calcium. In addition, dairy in the US has genetically modified growth hormone and antibiotics.
Answer: I have the gene for high blood pressure.

laughter is the best medicine
no white flour
Question: What are some great ways to lower blood pressure? I got my blood pressure taken today and my reading was 124/74. I did some resarch and my Diastolic (74) reading was great, but discovered that my Systolic (124) was considered "prehypertension." Normal would be 120 or lower. I'm a ways away from having hypertension, but I want to get out of that "prehypertension" catergory. What are some effective ways of lowering my blood pressure?
Answer: I would consider that a great reading! The "norm" is considered to be 120/80. MyTaber's medical dictionary says this "there are no precise rules concerning what blood pressure reading is considered to represent hypertension. In general, if on several separate occasions the systolic pressure (the top number) is above 140 or the diastolic (the bottom number) above 90, the patient is considered to have elevated blood pressure."
As well, you can not base your blood pressure on one single reading. You need to take several readings to figure out what your blood pressure averages when factoring in several readings. You can also have inaccurate readings if you're nervous when seeing your doctor.
If you do have a history of high blood pressure in your family or are concerned that your lifestyle is conducive to one of high blood pressure developing, then you should start making lifestyle changes. There are natural and effective ways to help keep your blood pressure within the normal range.
Question: What is a good way to lower blood pressure? For those of you with medical backround I have a question When I was examined by a doctor recently I was told I have high blood pressure and I felt at peace and not upset. I dont drink alcohol I dont smoke what are good healthy practical ways to lower blood pressure and make it more normal? This also runs in my family. Any suggestions?
Answer: For all of you saying run to the doctor and get some meds, she wouldn't get them at first unless her blood pressure is really out of control. Well, some doctors would give them, but I'm not going there.
The first treatment is lifestyle modification, including diet and excercise, and yes, removing stress. Also if you've only had one high reading then you aren't hypertensive. they have to follow up with two more to make that diagnosis.
If the lifestyle changes aren't effective, then you would go on meds like beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, diuretics, vasodilators, etc.
Considering your family history you might end up taking meds to control your BP, but try the diet changes and exercise first.
Question: what is the best diet to lower blood pressure? I have high blood pressure 166/89 - and I know I need to change my diet, but I'm not sure what foods are ggod to lower my blood pressure.
Answer: I am a cardiac nurse. If your pressure is that high you probably need medication. Some of that depends on your age. According to the American Heart Association, the new normal high blood pressure is 120/70. It used to be 140. So diet alone would be nearly impossible to lower it to the target range. You should buy a blood pressure cuff (they can be relatively inexpensive at most drug stores) and monitor your pressure daily and at different times of the day, such as when you wake up in the morning, after exercise, etc. Keep this in a journal to share with your doctor. Whatever you do, do not ignore it. It will have devastating consequences in the long run.
Question: How to lower blood pressure naturally? I hate to use prescription meds. I just don't trust them not to cause other problems.
What food or natural remedies can I use to lower my moderately high blood pressure?
Answer: Besides a reduced salt intake and plenty of exercise other natural remedies include fish oil, garlic oil, Hawthorn, Coenzyme Q10 and others that you can find in a web search for "high blood pressure" + "natural remedies". Each remedy helps a bit and you may have to take several.
Question: Is there a quick way to temporarily lower blood pressure? I'm going in for a medical exam to qualify for a scholarship and part of that includes a blood pressure check. The exam is in 4 days. Right now my blood pressure averages about 131/83. I need to get it to 120/80 or lower. I know taking aspirin and diuretics can help, but are there any other ways to lower blood pressure quickly that you might know of?
Answer: my blood pressure is through the roof but i have a job that requires i keep it low so what i do is a witches brew combination of aspirin, garlic tablets, lots of leafy dark green vegetables, vitamin b complex, vitamin d, cinnamon, nutmeg and bananas for potassium. i usually combine the cinnamon and bananas in some oatmeal. Its hard on the taste buds and the stomach, but its worked for me so far. I start at least a day before the exam and don't over do it except on the vegetables and bananas i eat as much of those as i want.
Question: What are some ways to lower blood pressure? Does anybody know some ways to lower my blood pressure without taking medincine or things like that.
Like does eating cheerios help? or walking?
Answer: There are actually many things you can do to help lower your blood pressure without medication. Cheerios helps lower the cholesterol some, but does not really lower the blood pressure. Dietary changes can help improve your blood pressure. This includes decreasing your salt intake to less than 2 grams daily, eating plenty of fruits and vegetables. The diet associated with the greatest reduction in blood pressure is the DASH diet, which includes a lot of fruits and vegetables. I will leave a link about it if you are interested. Regular aerobic exercise will also lower your blood pressure. This can be any aerobic exercise you would like, such as walking, running, swimming, biking, etc. You should do this for at least 1 hour 5 times weekly, but you can start lower than this if you are out of shape. If you are overweight then even a small amount of weight loss will improve your blood pressure. Also if you drink in excess you should reduce this to less than 2 drinks daily if you are male or 1 drink daily if you are female. Excessive alcohol intake is associated with elevated blood pressure. Good luck.

Question: What is the best kind of alcohol to lower blood pressure? I was reading where one drink a day can lower blood pressure rates a bit for men, and reduce the rates of heart attacks. Does anyone in a medical field or from personal experience know the best type (wine, beer, ect.) to drink?
i am trying to find out what is the best form of alcohol, between maybe a red or white wine, beer, etc.
Answer: I have high blood pressure and I drink a glass of RED WINE everyday with my dinner and it helps me.. my Dr. also said it was OK and it's good for the heart just don't over do it.. anything else will raise it .
Question: What are some natural ways to lower blood pressure? I am looking for natural ways to lower blood pressure besides excercise. I know there are supplements and other things besides drugs.
am looking for natural ways to lower blood pressure besides excercise. I know there are supplements and other things besides drugs.
I am not looking for an easy way out. I am looking for alternative ways to lower my blood pressure besides being put on medication. It does not mean I am not willing to diet and it does not mean that I don't excercise. It means that I don't want to be on hbp meds.
Answer: I was in your same situation a few months ago. My husband had really high blood pressure for his age [he's only 29]. I was tired of his prescription meds because they hurt our sex life...if you know what I mean.
I found an article in a medical journal that answered my question. There are five different supplements that, when combined, lower blood pressure. I wasn't sure at first but now I'm a believer. My husband's been on them for a month now, and his blood pressure had gone down 15 points.
They are: dandelion root, olive leaf, hawthorne extract, lycopene, and stevia. All of them you can find at a health food store. I wouldn't recommend going to Walmart to get them; they're usually not as good of quality. All are in pill form except for Stevia, which comes in either liquid or powder form. It's super sweet, almost unbearable, but add it to your coffee or something and it's not as bad.
Hope that helps! Good luck. :)
