Moms
Question: moms......????? i just found out i am pregnant with my 3rd. how many kids do you have if you have any? is 3 to much for you? i am just using these for comfort. thanks!!
Answer: Congrats are in order!!! :) I plan on only having 2 kids and I am currently pregnant with my second, but that is a mutual decision between both me and my husband. We feel that anymore than 2 then we wouldn't be able to keep any order, lol. Anyhow, 3 is fine! Enjoy your kids and congrats again.
Question: Any moms willing to be part of a postpartum network support for new mamas? I'm looking to start a Mom-to-Mom postpartum support network. Bascially, I'd like my network of moms to be willing to do postpartum support/counseling/mentoring to other moms via email or phone who is going through the immediate postpartum period (up to 6 weeks). Are there any moms willing to do this or is this a far fetched idea?
my email is [email protected] for anyone interested in helping.
Answer: I would love to. Have been through this myself and served on many postpartum support groups. Can you post your email in a follow up. How should we get in touch with you?
Question: How do i use my moms ebay account to sell my items? I am 16, which is not old enough to sell items on ebay, so I was planning on using my moms account. Before my mom agrees to this, she wants to know if after I sell something, is the percentage of the profit that Ebay takes from the sold item taken out of her paypal account? I would repay her for any of the money that is taken out of her paypal account. Would using my moms account be difficult? And is there anything else I need to know about doing this?
Answer: I suggest you read ebays selling tutorials see the site map or http://pages.ebay.com.au/education/learn-to-sell-basics.html (pn this is the Australian site but the processes would be the same)
there is also info re ebays selling fees - worth a read.
Question: How do I get moms motivated to participate in playdates and going out with the girls? I just became organizer for a moms group. Its about 13 moms and 2 new ones, who can schedule playdates, and girls nights out. Problem is they are dragging their feet and as the new group leader I need to get the momentum going! How can I do that if they won't show up or RSVP?? Help!
Answer: I can relate! I've been the co-ordinator for our playgroup since it started about 18 months ago, and will be standing down at the end of the year to let someone else have a go while I have another baby.
What I've found during this time, is that there's a core group of 4-5 mums who will be into everything - enthusiastic participants who will also help suggest ideas, and never fail to RSVP, even when they can't come along. These mums usually have the best socialised kids!
Then there are the ones who will occasionally come along when they can, usually because they have work commitments. This group often don't RSVP unless they are coming, and will often reply at the last moment, which can be frustrating.
The rest I've given up on! It's not worth tearing your hair out over mums who can't be bothered.
Concentrate your efforts on the few enthusiastic ones and the sometimes ones, and include the rest, but don't hold places or do extra preparation "just in case" they might turn up.
Not sure what your communication medium is - we generally use email and facebook to organise events and playdates, as well as having a regular weekly playgroup session at our local community centre. So I include everyone on the email list to keep everyone included, make sure mums are aware that if they want to, they can opt out (no one ever has, but sometimes it feels like I'm mailing a black hole!), and enjoy spending time with those who do come along and join in.
It can be a thankless task, but worth it when you build even 2-3 good strong friendships.
Feel free to drop me an email if I can give you any more help with this!
All the best in your efforts.
(edit: HER stuff, tyvm!!)
Question: How many moms have trouble giving equal attention to each child? I have a 8 year old son, a 4 year old daughter, and a 6 month old baby boy. It seems as if the baby takes up so much of my attention that I'm leaving my other two children out. By the time we get home from work, get everyone fed and bathe, its time to go to bed. Any other moms going through this? Any suggestions on how to space my time out?
Answer: Its really hard But this is what I do I have custody of 3 children and twon of my own ages 10 thru 14. I spend time away from the house with each one of them. If its just a hour at the park or maybe icecream. Its really hard But I know that if you set a date night with each of the kids and make a calendar of the date night out it works. I know because I also have a 19 year old son and when my twins came in to this world it was hard for him because I spent more time with the twins then him. I learned Because to this day my oldest son reminds me
Question: Have any moms decided from the start to formula feed? Do you regret your decision to do so? I'm just curious if any moms never wanted to breastfeed and if they chose not to even try it. I also want to know if they regret that decision. Thanks!
Answer: I was determined to BF my son, nothing was going to stop me! Breast was best, blah blah blah.
Well, it's a longgggg story, but in the end I had to switch to formula and I haven't looked back since :) We cuddle all the time. When I feed him we make eye contact and I talk to him. I spend lots of time bonding with him and we couldn't be happier.
If you are not comfortable BFing, then don't! You have a right to choose what is best for YOU and your BABY.
P.S. You will get a lot of flack from people, esp. strangers, for not BFing, but ignore the ignorant and judgemental people out there who forget every woman has the right to choose.
Question: What do moms want at baby showers? How much is too much? I am planning a baby shower for the end of March. The mother to be appears hesitant. I cant tell if this is because I am overdoing the shower or if it is because she is dealing with a lot in terms of pregnancy. There is a largish guest list of thirty six (though this wasnt my decision). I have put a lot of time into games and catering, but out of the joy of doing it.
Also, do any moms here have any tips on what they would have enjoyed?
Answer: Since she knows that you are throwing her the shower, why not ask her what her preferences are? If the guest list is too large for her, ask her to trim it down. Often times we give control over guest lists to people who want people there "just because" they were invited to something this person had a long time ago.
Maybe she's hesitant because of the timing, there are tons of reasons. The best way to find out what they are, go ahead and ask her :o)
I'm having my first but I never got a shower. We're a military family who lives 2500 miles from anyone even remotely related to us. If I were to have had one, I would have loved having some input unless it was a complete secret.
Question: How many teen moms are married or stayed with the father? I am a teen who is pregnant, and me and the father love each other very much. I was wondering if there is other teen moms who are still with or stayed with for a while the father?
We aren't planning on getting married right away, even though it may seem like the right thing to do, but what are our odds of still being together?
Me and the baby's daddy have been together for a little over two years.
Answer: Unfortunately, im not with my sons father. When i was 15 yrs old, he walked out on me bc he didnt want any part in our lives. He sees our sons once in a while (cuz i still have contact with his mother) but that is as much as we both see him.
Now i am 17 yrs old and my son just turned 2 few week ago. I am doing great with out his help. I work, go to school, and im a great mom and dad to my son. My mom and dad support me but they dont help me econimcally. As for my sons paternal grandma, she is a sweetheart. she has taken the role that her irresponsible son denied and is helping me through this stage in my life. I can even say that she supports me more than my mother herself lol.
Now let me try answering your question. Even though for me it didnt work, and i am raising my son alone i think if you really love him and he loves you, you can still be together. I want to believe that true love exitst no matter the age and that not all men are the same.
Best of luck,
Question: How do moms put their newborns to sleep? I know that most moms lay their babies on their lap and pat their back and say sshhhhh... Thats how my mom used to put me to sleep. Do some moms have a different way?
Answer: When my little one was a new born, I'd rock her and sing to her until she was just about to fall asleep and then put her in her crib. Now that she's older, I just kiss her , tell her I love her and put her in her crib.
Question: What have other breastfeeding moms done in terms of supplementing with whole milk? My daughter is almost 10 months and doc said it was ok to start occasionally trying out whole milk (I am trying to avoid using formula). Just wondering what other moms have done.
I am not planning on weaning until at least 13 months or so, but am going out of town when she's about 11 months and was hoping to have her used to whole milk for one or two feedings per day.
Currently, still nursing 5-6 times per day (including one night feeding).
Answer: I waited till 12 months then cut it out because she was getting constipated. I don't know if that was the cause but I know that this is common as a result of cow's milk. Why do it now? Do you have supply problems? If you have the okay from the ped it's not going to hurt to try.
Question: What should my moms group choose as our new name? I'm the organizer of a local moms group. We are open to mothers of all ages with children of all ages. We have playdates, family activities, moms nights out and couples events. We currently call ourselves Moms of Tots to Teens, but are considering changing it as we don't really have active teens in the group. We want something cute and catching. What would you suggest?
Answer: um what about the tots and teens moms it sound pretty cool to me or maybe the mothers lead
Question: What are the best and highest paying jobs for moms who want to work from home? I had a baby almost 10 months ago, and I went back to work after a 1 month maternity leave. Thus far, aside from having to put her in daycare, everything seems to be ok. However. I always have a great desire to stay at home and take care of her. When I'm at work I think about her and how I want to quite my job. What is there for a mom to do where she can stay at home to care for her child, while still making enough money to support her family. I have a college degree too, so I don't want to put that on the back burner. What do you Stay-at-Home Moms do? This is a great source of stress for me. Please help!
Answer: I know it's not easy! Best of Luck!
I'll keep you in my prayers.

Answer: I'll be 23, but that is quite rare.

She wants to collect dontated clothes, and baby items to distribute to new moms as needed. We espically want to help with car seats and cribs, you know, the big ticket items. I want to help, but we have no idea where to start? Any ideas for fundraisers?
