Question: how to provide water and nutrition needs during during the time children are present? provide drinking water and nutritional needs during the time time children are present if required by setting, handle and store food safely according to requirements of nursery setting
Answer: We have all parent provided snacks at our preschool - they bring the snack and the drink. We have a water cooler as well for drinks when it's not snack time. All leftover snacks and drinks are sent home with the child when preschool is over.
Question: A good book/website that outlines dog nutrition needs? Im looking for a nice book or website to give me an overview of good dog nutrition. I guess what I need would be what types of foods do dogs need and how much of each, how much vitamins and minerals, etc
I am currently feeding my dog home made raw, I give him variety of things but I want to learn more about nutrition.
Answer: I have fed raw for a long time. There is a lot to learn, so take many different opinions and draw the conclusions that seem to work for your dog. My favorites are Give your Dog a Bone by Ian Billingsly, and Natural Nutrition by Kymythy Schultze. Naturally, they do not agree on the grains question, but very valuable info anyway. Dr Pitcairns Complete Guide to Natural Health addresses raw diets as well as holistic healthcare recommendations, and has lots of great information for you.
Question: What part of your body needs the most nutrition? I was just wondering what part of your body needs the most nutrition. I was thinking the Brain. But, I may be wrong, I don't know, I don't know much about the Human Body. Thanks for you time. And your answer.
Answer: Your mouth.
Question: Is my baby still gettin the nutrition it needs? Im 9 weeks pregnant and dealing with morning sickness. I stay nausuated and throw up several times a day. With me throwing up the way i do is my child getting the nutrition it needs to grow. is it affecting my baby? I take my prenatal vitamins everynight right before bed so i will be sleeping while they are goin thru my body. Im afraid if i took them during the day i would throw them up. Is my baby gonna be ok and still grow properly? I know right now is the most important stage.
Answer: Your baby will be just fine. The biggest risk to morning sickness is dehydration so just make sure you are getting enough fluids. Your baby will get what it needs from the reserves in your body so it will likely be you that will be lacking in the end. The good news is that as adults a short period of poor nutrition is ok, we can make up for it. Good job keeping up with the vitamins, I wasn't so good at it.
Question: How can I ensure my body gets all the nutrition it needs after excluding meat and dairy from my diet? I've been wanting to eat vegetarian for a while now, but having eaten meat for most of my life and not knowing any vegetarians, I still have many questions about how to properly transition from eating meat to becoming vegetarian. My family is not being supportive at all in my decision and this makes it much harder for me. They claim that meat and dairy are essential to one's health and that certain nutrients/properties required by one's body can only be derived from these food groups. I'd really appreciate some feedback and advice from vegetarians on here.
Answer: My family was that the same way...they didnt support my decision until they got used to it. As we both know, dairy and meat isnt needed for good health.
You can easily get the correct amount of nutrients by eating balanced meals...like eating protein, carbs and a veggie or fruit in every meal. Snacking keeps also. Snack on healthy foods such as nuts, rice cakes, apple sauce, etc.
Question: is it "kosher" to ask a sushi chef to prepare your sushi rolls according to your nutrition needs? i am wondering if i can request things like less rice, or low fat mayo or no mayo on my sushi rolls, or is that considered "not cool"? i love sushi, but i don't necessarily want the amount of rice or sauce they put on. i also don't want to insult the chef! does anyone have an opinion?
Answer: You can ask for any revisions (no sesame seeds or substitute carrot for cucumber and so on) if you are having it custom made.
Since sushi is mainly rice which is a starch and full of carbs I don't use sushi and nutrition in the same sentence. The little bit of fish or vegetables is overwhelmed by the rice.
Question: Why is it important to meet the physical needs including nutrition and healthy eating of young children? How can you achieve this?
(as a teacher in a school) =]
Answer: Nutrition and healthy eating are important to a childs physical development. Without the proper diet and exercise, a childs developing motor (walking, running, climbing) and fine motor (using pincer grasp eg holding a pencil and writing) are not able to develop as well as they should. This in turn has a negative effect on their education, as there are certain things that the child will fall behind in. Also, if a child is healthy, they focus better at school and so are capable of learning more.
As a teacher, this could be encouraged by lessons in class about what foods are good for you, what are bad for you, what should be eaten in moderation. You could take part in the wider school community by looking at and discussing changes to the school menu with the other teachers. You could have cookery lessons at school with the pupils in which you make healthy foods etc...
Question: Anyone know of a site that very specifically and precicely calculates your daily nutrition needs? I need one to help my athletic diet
Answer: I doubt that it is possible to do so; there are too many uncertainties. How big is a "serving"? How many calories did you actually burn in running that mile? The best bet is simply to keep an eye on your weight.
Question: I have a a food and nutrition class that needs easy recipes that require little cooking. Any Ideas? It is a grade 12 class and we have a low budget and about 20 kids in the class. We also have no home ec. room and only have access to one oven/stove.
Answer: make fruit salad
Question: How's the nutrition/metab... needs of 6'7"male different than a 5' male? Is it more than just a scale issue? As a very tall person, I've been told that my calorie intake, my nutritional needs are the same as a shorter person, but really it's just about eating more. E.g. a shorter person may have a protein requirement of x and the taller person's requirements is just a matter of taking the x times some multiplier. I don't think it's that simple. I think the nutritional intake, etc are different and can't just be scaled proportionately. I think the answer is more complicated. If it were just a scale issue, then why don't you see 6'8" men competing in gymnastics with the same apparatus....just larger? Physics makes it almost impossible...so I'm looking for some research on the dynamics and nature of energy consumption needs for tall people, and how that might differ from your average male of 5'9". What does a tall person need to do from a food intake and excersize standpoint to maintain peek performance? how might it be different from the regimen required for a 5'8" male?
Answer: The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:
*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity. Get a fitness calculator that you can put on your cell phone and computer. This will allow you to easily calculate this formula, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.
*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.
Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as white potatoes) and drink lots of water.
Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d

Question: If i don't eat that well & I'm breastfeeding, will my baby still get the nutrition he needs? I mean i eat 3 meals a day and some time in between snacks
but i don't eat healthy =/
Will my baby still get his nutrition's??
No its not like i have Jack~in~the~Box everyday type of thing, i mean i do cook!! =] Its just that I know that i don't do veges & fruits often
Answer: I actually saw a documentary about this recently and was actually surprised to see that the baby always manages to get what it needs from your body. Including during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The baby will actually strip your body of nutrients to make sure S/He gets what they need. Even calcium, it will even be taken from your bones to feed the baby!
So be assured that your baby is OK!! You must make sure that you are too :-)
For your sake, so that you don't get run down and tired, try to make more of an effort. It's actually not so hard.
I'm pregnant and didn't eat as well as I should. So decided to make small changes which I knew would help the baby and I could easily fit into my normal diet.
Here's what I do:
Fruit juice/water with meals. Milk with breakfast. Chopped up fruit in the evening to snack on. Raw chopped carrots at my desk in work. Wholemeal sandwiches. Salad or vegetables I actually like with dinner. And yogurt is good also and you can add fruit. Boiled eggs....
hope this helped xXx
