And Flax Seed
Its high content of alpha linolenic acids has made the ancient flax seed become our modern miracle food. Alpha linolenic acid is a type of plant-derived omega 3 fatty acid, similar to those found in fish such as salmon. Benefits of flax seed as shown in many studies include lowering total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol (the Bad cholesterol) levels. Other benefits show that flax seed may also help lower blood triglyceride and blood pressure. It may also keep platelets from becoming sticky therefore reducing the risk of a heart attack.

Aside from alpha linolenic acid, flax seed is rich in lignan. Lignan is a type phytoestrogen (antioxidant) and also provides fiber. Researches reveal that lignan in flax seed shows a lot of promise in fighting disease -- including a possible role in cancer prevention especially breast cancer. It is thought that lignan metabolites can bind to estrogen receptors, hence inhibiting the onset of estrogen-stimulated breast cancer.
Recent studies also showed positive benefits of flax seed oil in IBD (Crohn's Disease and Colitis). Flax seed oil seems to be able to heal the inner lining of the inflamed intestines.
Moderately include flax seed in your diet. Indeed, a lot of food products contain flax seed such as bread, cereal and bakery goods. Bakers may use flax seed flour or include flax seed in baking.

Answer: 6 weeks. i have bipolar mood disorder and on several meds all at once and my doc told me to supplement with omegas. i take flaxseed oil which is a combination of 3,6 and 9 and i take 6000mg per day. i know it sounds like alot but you break it down to three times a day before meals or if you have 5 small meals per day then you can take it before every meal and before bed. best had on an empty stomach and be careful in the beginning 3 to 4 days it gives u a bit of a runny tummy as you get used to it so dont stop taking it just have yoghurt with active cultures to replace the good bacteria lost for a week or so.
Question: What are the mental health benefits of Omega-3? A psychiatric doctor told me that there were specific benefits that came from Omega-3 fish oil - what are they?
My son needs to be on a mood stabilizer and I'd prefer to go holistic if at all possible. What dosage would you give a child?
Answer: I use and recommend OmegaGuard. It's a pharmaceutical grade omega 3's and uses a low temperature, triple molecular distillation and purification process that concentrates natural beneficial omega 3 fatty acids and helps remove harmful contaminants including heavy metals lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium, dioxins and PCBs.
Among other benefits, it promotes a healthy brain, helps with depression and mental illnesses.
Dosage - three daily with meals.
Also, B-Complex ("Mood Vitamin") feeds the nerves and has a profound effect on mental and emotional stability.
The brand I'm suggesting are all natural and contain no aritifical additives or fillers. Unfortunately, a product can be sold as natural and be as little as 15% natural and they do not have to include all the ingredients on the label per FDA.
Hope this is helpful and feel free to contact me with questions.

Question: What are the benefits of taking Omega-Berry 3 Fish Oil? I have heard good things about Omega 3 fatty acids and I am just wondering what are the health benefits from taking this vitamin supplement and if anyone knows the price range of a bottle of it? Thanks in advanced!
Answer: Fish Oil – Health Benefits
Fish oil high in omega3 fatty acids has been shown by several research studies to have many health benefits. These can include:
Cholesterol/ Cardiovascular Disease
Research has shown that omega3 fatty acids from fish oil help to remove the ‘stickiness’ of blood cells, reducing the chances for it to clot and prevent the heart from beating irregularly.
By stopping platelets from clustering together the coronary artieris are pretected from being damaged. The omega3s from fish oil can also help to reduce the risk for angina through the reduction of high blood pressure, the lowering of triglyceride levels and the reduction of high blood pressure.
This, in itself provides a strong case for adding omega3 fish oil to our diets!
Arthritis and other Inflamatory Diseases
Both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis have been shown to respond to an increase in intake of omega3 based fish oils. According to research published in the highly respected medical journal The Lancet, patients with rheumatoid arthritis respond particularly well to fish oil supplementation. Fish oils can significantly decrease pro-inflammatory compound production which can lead to a decrease in joint stiffness and pain.
Other research has been able to show a direct link between the onset of arthritis and a deficiency in omega3 fatty acid levels in the body.
The Arthritis Council and the Arthritis Research Council in the UK both strongly recommend omega3 fatty acid supplementation from fish oil or other oils such as flax.
Healthy Pregnancy
It is widely accepted that a woman’s nutritional needs change when she becomes pregnant. This includes both an increase, as well as a decrease of certain foods, drinks and supplements. While we all know that an increase in nutrients during this time is beneficial, however, just as an increase in certain nutrients can support fetal development, deficiency of a number of nutrients can lead to birth defects or complications.
Essential Fatty Acids (omega3 and omega6) in the correct ratio and quantifty can offer exceptional benefits in terms of fetal development, the health of the mother-to-be and the health of the baby after being born.
Menstrual Cramps
According to the San Diego State University Health Centre, 10% of the 37.5 million menstruating women in the US can become completely incapacitated by menstrual pain and research from the University of California states that 42 million women in the US suffer from menstrual pain in total.
Research studies are now showing a strong correlation between the levels of omega3 in the diet and the level of menstrual pain experienced. One particular study undertaken in Denmark has shown that fish oils can result in a dramatic reduction in menstrual pain as the omega3 fatty acids effectively reduce pain and cramps are relieved by the relative amounts of omega6 as found in most fish oil supplements.
Mental Disorders
New research has again shown that a diet rich in omega3 fatty acids can effectively treat and prevent depression and other mental disorders. The research, published in issue 15 of the journal Biological Psychiatryhas actually shown that omega3 fatty acids and foods that are high in uridine were as good as (and often better than) different anti-depressant drugs in reducing the symptoms of depression.
A high-profile article in 1999, published by the Harvard University, put omega3 fish oil in the mental health limelight by offering solid proof that fish oil could significantly reduce the effects of bipolar disorders. Individuals who had been condemned to years of high-strength, high-risk pharmaceuticals began to switch to courses of omega3 supplementation.
Skin Conditions
Omega3 rich fish oils are highly effective in releiving the symptoms of, and preventing, skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and lupus. Omega3 fatty acids are highly effective at contolling inflammation and have been shown to improve the condition of skin, hair and nails generally.
Similarly to with arthritis, in many studies these conditions correlate with an omega3 deficiency. Studies also suggest that individuals who are supplementiing their diet with omega3 fish oil can see measurable improvements in as little as one-month.
Raynaud’s Disease
Fish oils can help to delay the onset of the numbness, tingling and other symptoms of Raynaud’s disease. Omega3’s help particularly by inhibiting the inflamation of vessels. The benefits as outlined above, with regards to cardiovascular disease, can also be very beneficial to those suffering from Raynaud’s i.e. the benefits of omega3 in improving circulation of the blood can help to improve tolerance to cold etc.
Folic acid, vitamin B6 and magnesium are also reputed to benefit those with Raynaud’s.
Alzheimer’s Disease
Fish oils and omega3 in general has been proven to have a positive effect on those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and can be hig
Question: Do you still get benefits from Omega-3 supplements with no gallbladder? I mean: will my body be able to digest/absorb the benefits from the supplement since it IS a fatty-acid? People without gallbladders supposedly can't digest fatty-acids as well as with them. I forgot to ask my doc during my previous appt.
Answer: yes
Question: What are the beauty benefits of Omega-3 supplements? Is it true that eating them makes your hair shinier? I'm 15 so am i able to have the same amounts of supplements as any other adult?
Answer: i wouldn't say skinnier but i would say that it can help the moisture of your hair overtime which in return can give your hair a better color because dry hair is dull looking. But if your taking omega-3 it probably shouldnt be just for your hair because thats not what there main benefits are.. its good for dry skin, its anti-inflammatory, good for your heart, makes you s*itt more and is good for your joints. A girl who is 15 probably wouldnt need to take fish oill.. there better for like old people and stuff plus there really nasty to swallow they taste like fish and give you a fishy after taste.. If you want shinny hair i would recomned using Joico's Spray Glaze.. sold at most salons it workss great call some local salons to see who has it.
Question: What are the healthe benefits of taking Omega 3 fish oil caps? What benefits can I expect to receive from taking this stuff? A guy named Mark said he feel MUCH better since he started taking it. Mark, please explain. I just want to know in what ways am I going to feel better.
Answer: I agree with everything Mark said, particularly the thing about omega-6. The reason people are omega-3 deficient is they receive too much omega-6 (e.g. trans fats), and they need to balance it out, so taking omega-6 is totally counterproductive, and companies that sell supplements "with both omegas 3 and 6!" are pretty shamelessly deceitful.
Anyway, omega-3 from fish oil improves function on a cellular level, so there are perks for a lot of different things: cardiovascular health, joint pain, skin, memory, depression, metabolism, ADHD, diabetes - even PMS. I've written many articles about this for my company, Omega Cure, and I directly cite the research studies I used as sources, so you can check out those too. Here's the link: https://omega-cure.com/omega-3-benefits.php
Question: What are the benefits of taking Omega 3-6-9 complex pills? Don't just read it off the bottle, I want to know the benefits you have gotten from taking them too.
Answer: omega 3 are suppose to be great for heart health helping clean out your arteries and lower your cholesterol

Question: What are the health benefits of taking Omega 3 capsules daily? Also, what amount is good to fight depression?
Answer: Because omega-3 works on a cellular level and something like 85% of the U.S. population is severely deficient, it has a variety of noticeable effects - improvements in cardiovascular health, joint comfort, memory, skin, metabolism, PMS, and more. You can find a lot of articles with citations of research studies here: https://omega-cure.com/omega-3-benefits.php
To fight depression, you just need the standard dose that would fulfill anyone's deficiency - about 10mL (two teaspoons) of liquid, which usually equals six to eight capsules (take some of them at different times to make it easier to swallow). You should be getting about 1000mg each of EPA and DHA (the most potent omega-3s) daily, so look at the nutrition label on your capsules (and be sure to note serving size) and you should be able to figure out how many you need.
Question: What are the health benefits of taking Omega 3 daily? Also, what amount is good to fight depression?
Answer: * Number 8 mentions depression *
1. Breast cancer protection: Research shows women with a high intake of fish oil fatty acids have up to 50% less chance of getting breast cancer, which is a major concern for most women. DHA is a natural anti-inflammatory that stops cellular transformation and kills off cancer cells.
2. Relief from menstrual cramps: Unpleasant PMS symptoms are often the result of a fatty acid imbalance. Omega 3 fish oil relieves monthly pain and cramping known as dysmenorrhea.
3. Improved fertility: Studies show that infertility is directly related to the amount of fish oil you consume. Fish oil balances hormones, improves hormonal levels and increases blood flow to the uterus. The more Omega 3 fatty acids you get the greater your odds of conceiving.
4. Healthy babies: Fish oil is essential to a healthy pregnancy diet, facilitating healthy placental blood flow and the efficient exchange of nutrients and oxygen between mother and baby.
5. Preeclampsia prevention: The high blood pressure during pregnancy, which is known as preeclampsia, can be very dangerous. The omega 3 fish oil fatty acids help maintain healthy blood pressure and greatly reduce any health risks for both mother and child.
6. Full term babies: Fish oil fatty acids also lower the danger of premature birth. This insures during pregnancy stages a baby has fully formed lungs and reaches a healthy birth weight.
7. Baby's brain development: A child's brain is especially dependent on the fatty acids found in omega 3 fish oil. For example, DHA has been found to ensure proper brain development and to increase a child's intelligence. It also improves eyesight and the development of motor skills.
8. Less postpartum depression: Studies show women with a higher consumption of fish oil suffer significantly less postpartum depression. This means better times for both mom and baby.
9. Minimized menopause problems: By greatly improving hormonal balance, fish oil fatty acids can dramatically reduce menopause symptoms, such as hot flashes and mood swings.
10. Protection against osteoporosis: Having high levels of fish oil fatty acids has been shown to lower your risk of osteoporosis, which is an especially high risk for women after menopause.
11. Reduced risk of heart disease: Heart disease kills more women prematurely than any other disease, including breast cancer. And the danger increases after menopause. Omega 3 with EPA and DPA is your best defense. Fish oil helps lower triglycerides, lower blood pressure and lower cholesterol naturally. And it's an essential part of an all around heart healthy diet.
Question: what are the benefits of omega 3? ive heard it clears your skin and helps build muscle is that true and also what other things is it good for?
Answer: It's full of vitamine A & D, and contains certain essential fatty acids that protect the heart, and helps the brain. Marine omega-3 made our ancestors smarter ;)
Question: Anyone know if overcooking fish like Salmon destroy the Omega 3 and other health benefits? certain vegetables like broccoli loose most of their nutrition by overcooking it and I was wondering if the same applied for fish.
or the more you cook it the more intense its nutrients (like tomatos)?
is there such a thing as overcooking?
Answer: Some cooks are coming back to the idea that vegetables should be cooked longer like our grandparents did, not like our modern Al Dente style. This is because the goodness is released and made more digestible. Then use the cooking water (Ugh!) to make gravy or sauce and claim back all the godness. I suspect the modern brief cooking of vegetables is more down to cost consideration than nutritional reasons. I do prefer brocolli & cauliflower just cooked, slightly crisp.
Fish should be lightly cooked or it goes tough, as do chicken breasts. Most tomatoes, unless home grown are just water, tough and flavourless.
Don't worry about all this nutrient business, no one really understands it, and it is just to make money.
There is a book out, which basically says: eat food and not too much, always eat at the table, eat food that your grandmother would recognise, avoid anything that mentions nutritious or nutrients, and try to do most of your shopping round the edge of the supermarket rather than in the middle. I don't know, could be right?
Question: What are the health benefits of taking omega 3 fatty acid supplements?
Answer: I agree with post number 1 I use chia seeds, you can research them because they have more omega 3s than fish oil or flax.
