Omega 3 Fish Oil

Question: Do products containing Omega-3 fish oil have mercury in them? Is it safe to eat products that contain Omega-3 fish oil, like dairy products or peanut butter or generally anything that says it's in there, because of the possibility of mercury? I am on the autistic spectrum, which makes me especially awry, because autistics tend to accumulate mercury in their bodies more than regular folk. I'm especially curious about organic milk containing DHA Algal Oil, which is a source of Omega-3s. Could this have mercury?

Answer: NO! The omega-3's in non-animal products like milk are not derived from salmon, or any fish for that matter. Omega-3's are found in plants but in FAR LESS amounts than fish. Don't worry about PCB's like mercury. Mercury is due to bioaccumulation which is not a problem for plants but a problem for carnivores or other animals at the top of the food chain like salmon and us humans.
