Stay Fit
Question: How can I stay fit and healthy if I can't afford a gym membership or my own exercise equipment? I would like to know how I can stay fit and exercise all of my muscles even though I don't make enough money after my bills to afford a gym membership. I also can't afford to buy exercise equipment for my place, but I wouldn't be able to anyway because my studio apartment is too small to contain any gym equipment. On top of it all I work at a desk job so I don't get any physical exercise during my work hours either. Please help me solve this problem, my mood seems to be souring due to lack of physical exercise. I'm feeling more and more how much I need some kind of exercise because my physical health is suffering and this is affecting my mental and emotional well being. Thank you.
Answer: I'm a fitness buff myself who found myself in a similar situation a while back. I came to realize i was sitting on the best piece of equipment available my own body. You will see twice the result lifting your own body wieght from different variations on pushups and other excersise lifting your own body wieght in different more natural positions will double your strenght and boost mind and body awareness this is recommended before hitting the gym any how. But I guarauntee after doing it this way you'll never stop if not just to hit the gym to show off your results to the gym elite
Question: How to stay fit during military service/ deployments? Hey guys
For any people who are in this situation (airmen, marines, sailors, soldiers, and coasties) how you guys stay fit during you military service? Are their gyms on every bases you all have been to? Are there gyms oversees such as in afghanistan? Also, do chow halls, mess halls, dining facilities offer good/ healthy options? Advice from vets or current folks who are in this situation is truly appreciated!
Answer: All stateside bases have gyms, and most deployment bases have them, of course they aren't as nice as the ones in the states, but they do the job. It usually doesn't seem to matter either how big the base is, I spent a lot of time on small Company sized bases in Iraq and even those have gyms/work out facilities of some kind, troops are pretty resourceful. How much they get used depends on how busy the units are. When I was deployed we were constantly running operations, we would get maybe 6 hours of sleep a day, so I usually chose sleep over working out.
Chow halls serve just regular foods, usually a meat, a carb/starch, and a veggie. Ranges from chicken to burgers to steak, all veggies you can think of and potatoes or bread of some kind. Again operational tempo dictates, so usually we just got MRE's (Meals Ready to Eat) military rations.
Question: How to stay fit and healthy after training? I want to hear this from current or former military. How do you stay fit and healthy after boot camp/OCS (Marine Corps). So what ideas for workouts and diets are good for helping you keep up with the "young guns"?
Answer: I had no problem just keep doing what we did in training, PT, Running and good food! Oh yeah uh...lots of whiskey!

Question: What are some ways to stay fit for the sport of Rock Climbing? As I only go rock climbing once or twice every 2 weeks, what are some ways I can stay fit for rock climbing?
Pull ups? Push up?
Answer: The best way to get and stay fit for climbing is climbing. Still, if that's not possible there are good tools you can use to get your arms and fingers stronger. I have used a hang board made by Metolius that really gives you a good work-out. It has various holds and surfaces that work different muscles and tendons which you need if you want to build strength for hard climbing. On the other hand simple exercises like chin ups and sit ups build both strength and endurance. I have a bar that fits across a doorway that lets me do this in the house. Check it out...

Question: How too stay fit until cheerleading tryouts? How can I stay flexible and fit till tryouts? Tryouts are the last week of February.
I already am a cheerleader and we have a break till tryouts.
Answer: Since you're going to be a cheerleader, you might as well start training like one, then.
Get a good amount of cardio every single week and make sure that you're eating habits are healthy. Do not eat potato chips, I don't care if it's just one chip, don't do it. Do n ot go to fast food restaurants like McDonalds, Burger King, Carl's Jr., etc.
Train your abdominal section with sit-ups. Trim down those arms with a few weights and watch your body turn into a goddess.
To stay flexible, you need to at least have the splits. TO work on your side splits, I would suggest you put your right/left foot extended in front of you while you're on the ground. Have you knee bent, touching the floor. Slowly lean forward with your hips until you are able to touch your foot with your nose.
Also, with the bent leg, try to pull it up towards your back; you should feel a good stretch in the quad muscle. That's where the splits come in at. If you have very flexible quads, you will reach the splits eventually.
Enroll in some tumbling classes that will help you with your tumbling passes. Tumbling is key, especially if you want to be a collegiate cheerleader. I'm a collegiate cheerleader and if you don't have any tumbling, you'll be laughed at.
Remember: Over time, not over night!

Question: What are some good ways for a teenage girl to stay fit and tone up? Not to lose weight, but to tone up all areas of the body and stay fit. But no activities that would build TOO much muscle, I just want to look fit and healthy, not really muscular!
Thanks!
I'm looking for something I could sign up for, like pilaties, yoga, kickboxing, etc.
Answer: Kickboxing is a great way to stay in shape. If there is a cardio kickboxing club nearby, I definitely recommend it; or even just an MMA or Kickboxing dojo. There is this one girl that comes to my kickboxing class, and she looks really good if I may say so :)
Question: Write an essay that explains what you do to stay healthy and physically fit? It is important to live a healthy life. Write an essay that explains what you do to stay healthy and physically fit.
Please make this essay 5 paragraphes im hopping to get some answers on how i could stay fit thanx. 10POINTS WHO EVER COMES UP WITH THE LONGESST ESSAY AND BEST STUFF TO STAY FIT.
Answer: I hope that I am not doing this simply as an assignment for you but rather as an inspiration. So here goes...
Fitness to me, is a "quality of life." It is not a drudgery that I detest, rather a privilege to be able to possess. It involves diet, exercise, stretching, meditation and prayer.
My favorite choice of activity for cardiovascular fitness is hiking. I am fortunate enough to live in the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains and take full advantage of daily walks/hikes in the woods. During these walks up and down pine strewn hills/mountains, I open my heart to God in prayer, thanking him for all that I am grateful for. This is one of my favorite times of day and a must do, not only for my physical well being, but for my spiritual as well.
Here are some benefits that cardiovascular exercise offers:
1. Weight loss
2. Stronger heart and lungs
3. Increased bone density
4. Reduced stress
5. Reduced risk of heart disease and some types of cancer
6. Temporary relief from depression and anxiety
7. More confidence about how you feel and how you look
8. Better sleep
Along with my daily hikes, I make it a habit to get to the gym four days a week to do weight-training. The benefits of weight-training go far beyond what it does for my outward appearance. It not only gives me an outlet for my excess energy, it also offers the following benefits:
1. Weight training tones your muscles which looks great and raises your basal metabolism...which causes you to burn more calories 24 hours a day. You'll even burn more calories while you're sleeping.
2. Weight training can reverse the natural decline in your metabolism which begins around age 30.
3. Weight training energizes you.
4. Weight training has a positive effect on almost all of your 650-plus muscles.
5. Weight training strengthens your bones reducing your risk of developing osteoporosis.
Cardio and weights alone is not all-inclusive to acheiving fitness however. If nutrition is not a part of the equation, you cannot be considered "fit". I follow a clean, well-balanced diet, yet to ellaborate on this could take a whole book to explain.
Along with the above-mentioned activities, I also incorporate daily meditation. This offers me a chance to still my body and mind; and as a result, reduces the stresses that accumulate throughout the day.
In closing, I would like to encourage anyone that has not already adopted a healthful fitness regimen, to do so now. For this is how nature intended it to be and the results are absolutely outstanding.
