Synthetic
Question: Can I start using full synthetic oil after 103,000 miles in a 00 v6 accord or is a synthetic blend better? I have a 2000 v6 honda accord and it needs an oil change. I want to switch to synthetic but I dont know if it will be better to switch to full synthetic, synthetic blend or just stick with conventional. But id rather switch to synthetic. It has 103,000 miles.
Answer: This is a good question! A Honda V6 with 103k miles usually will handle a full synthetic oil with no problem, as long as the engines oil was changed routinely and there are no other mechanical problems you have not mentioned(ie slight blue smoke when engine first started, oil leaks, oil usage between changes). If you are nervous about the change-over, try using a para-synthetic to start, then on the next oil change go to a full synthetic, as long as there is no increased oil usage and oil leak. You should have no problem with this change. Good luck and thanks for a good worthwhile question.
Question: How much human and synthetic hair is in a blended extensions? I recently purchased hair extensions. I didn't have much cash on me to purchase human hair so I bought human hair + blended. Which means it's human hair and synthetic hair mixed together. I was wondering if it were more synthetic hair or more human hair. I can straightening it if I like to, but I just have to set it on low heat. Is there more human hair or more synthetic hair in this? Or is it equal?
Answer: Hello,
If you are having to set your flat iron on a low setting then there is more synthetic hair then human. If you look at the price difference between the "all" human hair extensions and the mix that should give you an idea. Just be super careful using hot tools on your extensions because if there is a lot of synthetic hair you run the risk of actually melting the hair. Use the lowest setting possible and try not to style it everyday try doing it every other or every 2 days you shouldn't need to wash/clean it more then that.
Question: What is the advantages and pitfalls between synthetic oil and mineral oil? Some said that synthetic oil can last more longer.
Lets say... it can sustain up to 10,000KM meanwhile mineral oil needed to change at every interval of 5000KM.
How true it is?
Have you heard about semi-synthetic oil? How do we know whether the oil that we purchasing was semi-synthetic oil?
Are the manufacturers goin to label there?
And what the hell they created semi-synthetic oil?
If they wanted to create a man, just create it and not something in-between. That was totally ridiculous.
Answer: Before synblend, I often used both Mobil One http://www.mobiloil.com and standard petroleum mixed together because they always have been compatible. Mostly I used full synthetic Mobil One since the 60's on all my cars and I've never had any major engine work in over 200,000 miles on all the cars. However, full synthetics are now $5 a quart even at price clubs, so a synblend will give you much of the same performance at a lesser cost. Ford now does all it's oil changes using Motorcraft synblend. Since I have many Fords, I go to the dealer and get the synlube and a Motorcraft oil filter for about $23. Not a bad deal considering your getting dealer quality parts and service. I believe Ford allows 7500 mile extended service oil changes using it's Motorcraft synblend oil.
Question: What synthetic motor oil do I buy for my car? I have a 2005 Subaru Forester XT. I'd like to buy the synthetic oil myself and have them change the oil at jiffy lube or whatever garage will do it. I've seen different kinds so I don't know which to get for my car, and how many quarts. Any advice would help. Thanks!
Nobody has said whether I need 0w-30, 5w-30, there are different blends. Need that info too.
Answer: It is a smart thing that you are looking into synthetic as your car is TURBO and they NEED synthetic.
But not ALL synthetic are the same. Mobil1 was the first synthetic and can hold up to turbo temperature. Since then Castrol (and other companies) started coming out with oil that didn't really qualify to Mobil1 standards. But for some reason Mobil1 lost a lawsuit and EVERYBODY started to say they have synthetic.
so in my book Mobil1 (and I heard AMSOIL) are the only true synthetic.
Good luck.......
P.S. I also drive a turbo engine (Audi 1.8T). this was from my own research for my engine. :-)
P.P.S. Castrol - GERMAN formula is the SAME kind of synthetic as Mobil1. You can find them here (from time to time) and cheaper than Mobil1.
P.P.P.S. The next guy writes about Semi-synth. I don't like semi-synth for turbo engine (no offense to the next guy). The reason synthetic oil are better is because they are pure engine oil. Conventional oil have lot of impurity that cooks with age. But semi-synth is like mixing pure water, with piss-water (you still have piss-water). If you are going to spend the money, get FULL (PURE) synth oil.
Question: Is synthetic oil really worth the money or is there not very much difference between the non-syn oil? Is synthetic oil really worth the money or is there not very much difference between the non-syn oil???
A non-syn oil change is like $25.00, give or take while a synthetic oil change is like $40.00 to $50.00. Is there a noticeable difference while driving your car? If your car is already 6 1/2 years old with 70,000 miles, is it pointless to start using synthetic oils?
Answer: lubricates better than regular oil and you can go 6 to 8 thousand miles between oil changes and will help improve gas mileage as the engine is running easier with it's lubricating qualities so you have less friction, if your car uses any oil or has oil leaks I would advise you not to use it as it will use more with synthetic.
Question: How do you keep synthetic hair from looking so raggedy after two weeks? I recently bought a synthetic lace wig, and for the first few days it was looking sharp! Then it began to look alittle fuzzy, mainly on the ends, after about a week. By the end of the second week it was a total rats nest, completely stiff, horribly tangled and it even had a smell to it. I tried washing it but that seemed to make it even more tangled! Is there any way to keep synthetic hair looking good for at least a month?
Answer: At this point........you might as well toss it!
The next time you buy a synthetic wig.........you must treat it with extra care.......because anything.........can make it look terrible......if it's not carefully taken off........also make sure you put it up for the next time.
Too much brushing..........fussing..........washing........eventually will make it look haggard.
When you do wash a synthetic wig............use...........fabric softner to rinse your wig with to help it to behave a lil better.
I hope this helps

Question: What is the different in Synthetic motor oil then regular motor oil? What is the different in Synthetic motor oil then regular motor oil? If I use Synthetic oil, can I go back to normal motor oil later on in the future? I got a 2000 Dodge Durango 5.9 engine.
Answer: Synthetic oils for gasoline engines in North America are mainly made of base oils which are PAO or polyalphaolefins or Group IIIs. There are many other types of synthetics however but the two are the most common. Compared to mineral oils, synthetics offer better high temperature resistance and significant low temperature flow properties so they are the preferred choices in severe operating environments. NASCAR and Formula 1 cars mostly use synthetics because of the reasons I mentioned. The use of synthetics actually started in aviation when planes flew higher and faster and the temperature conditions became extremely severe. Its application spread to other sectors from automotive to industrial.
If you have used synthetics before and want to go back to regular mineral type of oils, you can do so because these modern automotve oil formulations are designed to allow good compatibilities between these oil categories. Any mechanic who tells you not to switch back from synthetic to mineral or vice versa belongs to the old school. The fact is it is now a myth although many years ago they had those problems. But why shitch back to mineral oils, they are inferior to synthetics anyway? Mixing the two is fine however you do not get optimum benefits of the synthetic properties. The worst thing to happen is to have low or no oil in your crankcase, so mixing is fine.
Question: How many thick synthetic dreads do you need to cover nearly a full head? I want to get thick synthetic dreads and I want to cover everything except my bangs. I've used dreads previously but only as falls and I wanted to know how many I would need to do a full head.
Answer: Well I have real dreads. They are pretty think and I have 35. I also have my bangs done so... maybe 20-25 (you don't need as many fake ones.)
Question: What happens to synthetic hair when it gets wet? I have not had synthetic hair braids in years and I was curious. I want to focrotchet braids because they cause the least amount of damage to my hair based on my persoanl experience with different braiding techniques. I just cannot remember what happens to synthetic hair, wether straight, braieded or curled, when wet? I know you cannot curl synthetic hair as it will burn... PLEASE HELP! BTW... I ask because I am going on vacation and want to do the crotchet braids but I plan on doing ALOT of swimming. Thanks!
Answer: Synthetic hair gets really heavy when it gets wet, and because the weight (especially in a salty sea water) curls will straighten out. I have had MANY different kind of synthetic hair extencions and the worst thing for them is the sea water.
Question: When did preservatives and synthetic ingredients start being added to american cosmetic and hygiene products? People didn't have the convenience of going to a supermarket and picking out face washes, shampoos, and feminine products back in the day. Now that preservatives and synthetic ingredients are highly being utilized, that has changed. Where did this all start?
Answer: when the big bad wolf left the forest.
Question: How many miles between oil changes using synthetic oil? Found out that new cars that use synthetic from factory like mercedes don't require oil changes until 13,000 miles. Does that apply to any other car that uses synthetic oil too?
Answer: Never stretch your oil change intervals past the factory recommended mileage as printed in your service book. This is very important as long as the car is under factory warranty. There's no stipulation in your book that you can choose to go longer if synthetic oil is used. Ford, Chrysler and GM recommends no more than 8,500 miles under the best conditions on their new cars. The Dodge Viper and some Chevrolet Corvette models come from the factory with Mobil1 in the crankcase. Oil change maximum remains the same.
Toyota (mine not Mike's) recommends 5,000 mile oil change intervals probably do to the fact excess heat created by the catalytic converters which are so close to the cylinder-heads. Toyota makes no exceptions concerning the brand or type of motor oil used. Again, if you ever need documentation about oil change intervals while the car is under the power-train warranty it's foolish to test the system.
In my opinion you most likely could stretch these mileage numbers after the power-train warranty and did mostly highway driving. On the other hand why in the world would you skimp and pinch on the most basic insurance on your motor.
Question: How do you dip synthetic braids that already have curls? I have synthetic micro braids and they r already curled. I kinda need to kno the whole procedure bc my braids keep unraveling.. Can someone help?
Answer: You actually don't have to dip them (you might lose the curl pattern). The braider should have put a slip knot at the end of each braid. Some people put glue at the end, but I personally do not recommend that. Either way the know or the glue should be done after your have braided past the clients natural hair to prevent any breakage.
Maybe the person who braided your hair can go back and put slip knots at the end of the braids.
Question: Can I mix two different types of synthetic motor oil? If I need to add a little oil to the engine, and it was filled with 10W40 synthetic, and I only have 5W30 synthetic right now - will that work? Is it safe? I need to put in an extra quart or a bit less.
Answer: It really won't make a difference, honestly...
The oil is read in thickness (i.e. 10w-40). The oil acts as a 10 weight oil in the Winter (hence the W), and a 40 weight oil in the summer. Adding a different oil will just blend it a little.
Plus, it is better to have any kind motor oil in it than none at all!
If you're running an older car that used to run on conventional oil, now synthetic...there is the reason why your losing oil...synthetic oil will find its way out of any older engine and show you where all the leaks are located!!!
Question: What are some durable tennis strings that play like synthetic gut 16 gauge? I play a lot of tennis. I usually use 16 or 17 gauge synthetic gut. Brand doesn't really matter for me. Well I break a lot of strings so i decided to switch over to this blue string called cyber string or something. It's really stiff but definately playable. I can play with this stuff but I'd prefer to play with synthetic gut, but it does not hold up long enough. So what type of string plays like synthetic gut but is much more durable?
Answer: babolat pro hurricane tour does not play like synthetic gut, but its a great string and im sure you'll like it. Its one of the most durable strings on the market, so i'd go with that. It puts a lot of spin and has a good level of control. Not as much control as synthetic gut, but its pretty close. Its also a lot harder on your arm, but if you have good form then it shouldn't be a problem.
Question: How do you put synthetic auxin in plants? How do you put synthetic auxin in plants?
How do you put synthetic auxin in plants?
Answer: Synthetic auxins can be applied to the plants in different ways. 1. Dipping the stem cuttings for varying period in various concentrations of auxin/ auxin mixtures or powders. This is usually done to promote rooting of the cuttings
2. Foliar spray to make the plant healthy if the root system is to be encouraged
3. Dipping the seeds in auxin solutions to break the dormancy of the seeds
Question: What is the difference between natural and synthetic makeup brushes? I want to purchase makeup brushes, but I know that there are natural and synthetic kinds out there, and I was wondering what the difference is. I looked online and it said that natural brushes create a softer look, while synthetic brushes create a more dramatic look. In what way is this achieved ? Is this specific to one brush? Thanks!
Answer: Natural bristles hold powder products most effectively because the hair has scales, which help to hold the makeup on the brush until you apply it.Natural bristles can be single animal fibers or a mixture. The animal is brushed and the hair is gathered, grouped, color matched, and bound together to create a brush.Less expensive brushes are more likely to have synthetic (Nylon and Taklon) fibers, which work best for creamy products like lipstick, but you'll also find brushes for brows and eyeliner with a synthetic bristle. The most effect concealer brushes are also synthetic because they provide heavier coverage.
Some people are sensitive or allergic to the animal hair in natural brushes. Often they will blame the mineral makeup for their problem that is actually caused by a reaction to the animal hair. Obviously anyone with any types of sensitivities should stick with synthetic brushes.
