Trace Minerals
Question: What are bulk minerals and trace minerals? So i have this report due in a few days and i want to know what bulk and trace minerals are. Thanks!
Answer: Bulk minerals are those which the body needs in relatively large amounts, like sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Trace minerals are those which the body requires in considerably smaller quantities, like iron, copper, boron, and chromium.
Question: What is a characteristic of trace minerals? a. amounts in food are not predictable b. a deficiency sign of MANY trace minerals is dermatitis.
Answer: 'a' isn't right, 'b' could be.
Question: I Plan To Drink the "1st Step Energy" vitamin supplement but it has trace minerals. Are these dangerous? A 1 ounce sample of the "1 Step Energy" vitamin supplememnt contains less than 1/2 microgram of the following trace minerals:
Trace Minerals: Bismuth, Boron, Bromide, Cerium, Cesium, Chloride, Cobalt, Copper, Dysprosium, Erbium, Europium, Fluoride, Gadolinium, Gallium, Germanium, Gold, Hafnium, Holmium, Indium, Iridium, Kjeldhal, Nitrogen, Lanthanum, Lithium, Molybdenum, Neodymium, Nickel, Niobium, Platinum, Praseodymium, Rhenium, Rhodium, Rubidium, Samarium, Scandium, Silicon, Silver, Strontium, Tantalum, Tellurium, Terbium, Thullium, Tin, Titanium, Tungsten, Vanadium, Yiterbium, Zirconium.
I am wondering if any of the above trace minerals should stop me from drinking this drink because of health issues related to the mineral. I plan to drink this after every workout. Are the above minerals safe? Does anyone drink this "1st Step Energy?"
Answer: I cannot tell you specifically about each of the minerals but in general trace minerals are known to be very good for you and strongly enhance and support the immune system. Some of them such as boron and selenium are vital for the proper functioning of our organs. Here is a website where you might find more about the particular trace minerals and their value in the vitamin supplement you are taking. http://www.traceminerals.com/
Question: I have Source Naturals' "ColloidaLife Trace Minerals" is that the same as Colloida Silver? I have Source Naturals' "ColloidaLife Trace Minerals" is that the same as Colloida Silver?
Answer: No
it is not the same..read the label...there are 70+ trace minerals in some preparations.
Question: what is the difference between major and trace minerals? thank you so so much!
its for my food and nutrition class and im stuck on this one.
i appreciate your help so much!
Answer: Major minerals are minerals you absolutely need to get everyday for good health (sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and sulfur). They regulate fluid in your body, as well as help you absorb amino acids and all that good stuff.
Trace minerals are minerals that you only need a little bit of (iron, zinc, copper, chromium, fluoride, iodine, selenium, manganese, and molybdenum). They help absorb nutrients and with the oxygen flow in your blood.

Question: Is wood ash a good diet source of trace minerals? Is it safe? The wood burned would have to untreated, with no additional glue or paint etc added. Would the type of minerals depend on the location the tree grew in?
I know it is safe for plants; is it safe for human consumption?
Answer: Yes it is safe experiments have been conducted on plants and it will help metabolize energy levels and increase growth rate of infant plants!!
Question: What Are "Trace Minerals And Elements" In the Context Of Nutrition??? Trace Minerals should be consumed as supplements and they can potentially delay physical ageing.
Does anyone know what these "Trace Minerals" Are???
Answer: Minerals such as manganese, chromium, copper, molybdenum, zinc and other heavy metals, among others, are usually considered trace minerals. These minerals (and others) when consumed in larger quantities can be quite harmful (as they are not water soluble), but small amounts are needed on a molecular level for overall good health.
Most high-end vitamins include these items.
Question: How important are ionic trace minerals to our bodies?
Answer: I'm going to assume that what you mean by "ionic trace minerals" are the charged elements like calcium, potassium, phosphate, chloride, and sodium that are in our bodies. These elements are highly important in the maintenance of physiological health because ionic elements are the electrolytes in our bodies. Electrolytes are those things you hear about in Gatorade commercials - they are lost as sweat in physical activities. They are also lost through vomit, diarrhea, and other bodily fluids.
When you lose an excessive amount of electrolytes, you become dehydrated and if these are not replaced, health gets pretty ugly and the condition is deadly. Low electrolytes are very dangerous.
As an example, I have heard many stories of bulimics ending up in the hospital because they have vomited or used laxatives to the point where their electrolytes were so far off that they were in danger of losing their lives. Without the ionic compounds in your blood, life would be practically impossible.
Question: Trace Minerals Advice?: Just read somewhere that dehydrated sea salt trace minerals are inorganic, and? therefore indigestible..that I should look for organic plant based trace mineral compounds..anyone care to comment?
Answer: Inorganic does not mean indigestible, but plant derived trace minerals are the best form to take because they have been broken down by soil micro-organisms and predigested by plants, making them much more bioavailable than minerals which have not. I use Liquid Life trace minerals.
EDIT: The best source would definitely be diet except that our soils have had a whopping 85% mineral depletion over the past hundred years thanks to over-farming. Your great grandma's bowl of spinach had eight times the nutrition that the bowl you eat today has.
Question: what is the benefits of taking trace minerals with Alfalfa and kelp? its from Great salt lake .
Answer: Honestly I donot know what u r talking about.
But there must be some benefits I guess. Since u r taking.
Question: Nitrogen, Phosphate and Potassium but what about trace minerals? We all know the first three items are used to fertilize agricultural fields where food is grown. But we also often hear that the soils get depleted in trace minerals which cause the produce to lose a lot of nutrition that they once provided.
Do farmers have any way to at least attempt to rejuvenate the soils they use with these trace minerals, said to be important for our well being and health?
When soil testing is done are there tests for these trace minerals? What does a total soil test measure?
eeklutop.....Ihave no clue what u are saying
Answer: Farmer's do generally consider all of the major and minor minerals when assessing the needs of their fields, and depending on their specific crops needs, the adjust the application of fertilizers accordingly. NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium) are the big three, they are the heart of all fertilizers because they are the primary things that plants need to grow and flourish, there are also secondary and tertiary minerals as well as 15+ trace minerals that are needed for most plants to properly grow. The idea of crop rotation as well as organic matter fertilization help farmers put back some of the minerals that are depleted through the mass-growing process as well as the application of direct minerals. Soil testing is done prior to every planting, usually each time the field is prepped and includes mineral testing as well as pH testing. In addition, farmers utilize soil structure pyramids to determine how the water will carry these nutrients to their crops.
Question: does a water filter filter out the trace vitamins and minerals? does it filter out all the minerals???z
so will the good stuff stay in and the bad out?
Answer: A standard home water filter is usually based on activated charcoal and will strain out small particulates and make the water taste better, but it does not greatly alter the chemical content of the water--trace pesticides, natural iron, and artificially added fluoride all make it through.
Question: Anyone with a story of how taking concentrated trace minerals regularly has improved their health and well be?
ing?!............
Wowie Zowie!...Thanks, folks!
Answer: Wow i had never heard of taking these types of minerals but would give it a try if i could' as being so tired all the time is not an easy task especially when you work 2 jobs and are a single parent..
Question: Can someone please tell me what minerals are NOT trace minerals?
Answer: There are seven major minerals.
Calcium
Phosphorus
Magnesium
Sodium
Potassium
Chlorine
Sulfur
The essential trace minerals include iron, which is a constituent of hemoglobin; iodine, which is necessary for thyroxine synthesis; and cobalt, which is a component of vitamin B12. Other essential trace minerals are chromium, copper, fluorine, manganese, molybdenum, selenium, and zinc.
The most important trace mineral elements (RDA < 200 mg/day) are (again, in alphabetical order):
Chromium
Cobalt
Copper
Fluorine
Iodine
Iron
Manganese
Molybdenum
Selenium
