Well Balanced Diet
Question: What is a cheap but well balanced diet? I am moving in with my friend for the summer and am low on cash to buy food with. what are cheap things I can eat while still getting a balanced diet?
Answer: Beans. Get them dried instead of in cans since it's cheaper. Sure, it's more prep work, but your wallet is what matters here.
Seeds. Go to the bulk department.
Bananas are pretty cheap (a bunch is around $2).
Buy in season and local produce--It'll be cheaper. Avoid the prepackaged produce--Those baby carrots are much more expensive than a bag of whole carrots.
Avoid the highly processed foods--A can of Spaghetti O's may only be 99 cents, but you could buy the ingredients (pasta and sauce) and make something similar five times over for probably less than 99 cents a serving.
Question: How can I have a more well balanced diet? I go between extremes. For a week or two I eat healthy. Then for a week or two I eat tons of junk.. When I get tired of the junk I go back to eating healthy. I think I eat lots of junk bc I don't have to worry about gaining weight and I think maybe I am addicted to it. What can I do to balance my diet?
Answer: it's not that your addicted . it's just that your use to it . i was like you . but then i became very aware of what i was putting in my mouth . to me , this is how it went . ;
i started drinking tea . any kind of tea . whether it had calories. or not . sugar or not . i drank tea . then i started to get use to it . then after a while i started cutting back on some junk food . not all . just specific things && when not to eat them . [FYI it didn't help me lose weight , just eat healthier . ] now all i drink is tea && water && don't eat that much junk food . yea it's easier said than done . but don't be so aware if you drink && eat healthy because if you don't notice it , you'll forget about junk food && just automatically eat healthy . just try it . && don't track on the days that you do eat healthy because you'll just miss eating junk food && start going back to it . so ....
in other words ; combine junk food with healthy food . it's not a diet . it's a healthy eating habit . once you get that . you'll just end up eating right .
hopefully i helped you a little bit if not all . ;]
Question: How can I eat a healthy, well balanced-diet without sacrificing money or (too much) taste.? I'm obese and have decided I'm going to make a change. I don't really cook all too often and I don't have money to spend on premade diet plans or whatnot. How can I eat healthily without sacrificing a lot of money and still have tasty, filling meals.
I'm not really into diet plans. People were healthy far before diet plans came along, let's go back to basics!
Answer: Nearly 6 years ago, I started Atkins low carb way of eating to just quit gaining weight. I had to get my out of control appetite under control. I never imagined I could LOSE weight without hunger or exercise, since I've become disabled. I never bothered weighing or measuring til I'd noticed that my clothes got huge quick. When my health improved dramatically also, I knew this was my new way of life and since it's eat all you want (of low carb foods) I know I can do this for life.
My personal carb level is low. I am older & disabled & don't move much (or cook much) but I eat all I want of meats, eggs, cheeses, yogurt, fats, green vegetables, almonds, berries, flax seeds, chia seeds, shirataki noodles and other foods. Someone active would have a MUCH higher carb level & can usually include all fruits, beans, whole grain products but not sugar & highly refined carbs in unlimited amounts. As long as you have <9grams carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control & shouldn't gain weight, no matter the calories.
Overweight & obese people have blood sugar & insulin dysfunctions and can NEVER eat carbs as someone with a functioning body can. They make the mistake of going back to the way of eating that made them fat and that is not possible and yes they will gain all weight back if they eat what they ate that made them obese originally. Insanity is defined as doing the exact same thing, in the exact same way and expecting different results. Many people can return to moderate carb levels but very few can really eat all they want of sugar & maintain weight or health.
You can lose more body fat eating protein & fat (don't eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast, eat all you want, but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter & half an avocado a day (for added potassium). Keep the calories high & the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.
The first week is just water weight but fat is lost thereafter if you keep your calories high enough. Otherwise the body will strip it's own lean tissue for nutrition. Although that may look great on a scale it will make it MUCH easier to accumulate fat in the future (since all that pesky lean tissue burning up calories will be gone). The body won't release fat stores if you lower calories below what it needs. It will slow metabolism to compensate & store every spare ounce as fat. If you continue lowering calories, it will continue lowering the set point, til it can survive off nothing & store fat on anything. The body will only release it's fat stores if it knows there is plenty of nutritious food.
Eating carbs while trying to lose body fat is terribly inefficient. When in glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) you have to lower your calories (which slows your metabolism) & exercise heavily to deplete your glycogen stores before burning body fat.
The core of Atkins program is converting the body from glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) to ketosis (burning fat as fuel). Dietary fat levels need to be at >65% of total calories, if not, the body will still remain in glycolysis by converting 58% of excess protein into glucose (via gluconeogenesis).
It takes minimum of 3 days to convert a body to ketosis, (but only one bite to convert back to glycolysis). People feel sluggish the first week but most feel better than ever thereafter.
Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) trigger insulin which can store the calories eaten into fat. The more protein the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. The more carbohydrate the more the fat storage hormone insulin is released.
High insulin levels promote inflammation, weight gain, hunger & unbalance other hormones. Controlling insulin levels will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so lean muscle will be gained even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase muscle mass with high HGH levels.
Ground flax seed (2 Tbsp) 1/4 cup water, artificial sweetener, mix in a raw egg - let sit 10 min. to absorb liquid, put some cream cheese in the middle & nuke 2 minutes. Suggested for daily fiber needs.
The first 2 weeks eat several cups a day of (mostly) lettuce & celery, cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, peppers & more vegetables thereafter - add 5 grams per day additional every week (20 grams day first 2 weeks, 25grams 3rd week, 30grams 4th week etc) til you gain weight, then subtract 10grams. That will be your personal carb level (everyone is different & depends on how active you are.)
Start with meat, fats & salads for 2 weeks and then slowly add in more green veg, wk4 fresh cheeses, wk5 nuts & seeds, wk6 berries, wk7 legumes, wk8 other fruits, wk9 starchy veg, wk10 whole grains. You will learn how your body reacts to different foods.
Question: What is a good well balanced diet? I need to start eating healthy I've recently joined a gym. All I eat is junk and fast food. I've been looking on the internet but it's so vauge what i've been finding. It's either to lose weight or gain weight. I need a diet for a person whose already a healthy weight and just needs to get heatlhy. Any suggestions?
Answer: Each balanced meal should contain a portion of wholegrain carbs(eg brown rice, potato, porridge), lean protein (chicken, fish, beans), good fats (nuts, avocado, fish) and either fruit or vegetables. You can vary portion sizes depending on hunger and individual preferences. Add in a couple of healthy snacks like fruit or yogurt and you have a perfectly balanced diet. X
Question: The definition of a healthy well balanced diet? I read about every fitness magazine around and hear millions of different ways to diet. There are magic pills that do it for you or candy bars with a zillion calories in them to make you not hungry. Bull. There is only one way to loose weight and that is to eat right and excersise and that is what I want to do. The only problem is, is that I don't know what the perfect day of eating looks like to loose weight. How many carbs are too many in one sitting? Do you snack on carbs in between meals? If you are excersising isn't it good to be snacking on carbs? But then I hear carbs are the devil. Can someone help me???
Answer: A healthy, well balanced meal consists of a wide variety (colorful) of fruits and vegetables.
Snacking on fruit is fine.
Carbs are the devil for people on low carb diets. Fruit has complex carbohydrates, which gives you longer lasting energy.
Lean meats and whole grains are also good to eat, due to the protein and fiber.
Instead of white rice, make spelt or whole wheat couscous.
Instead of the energy bar, eat an apple or banana.
Instead of the fried chicken, eat baked salmon.
Instead of salad dressing, cover your salad with fresh herbs for more flavor.
When you make your salads, be creative and use fruit and nuts along with the vegetables.
Question: What is a well balanced diet for losing weight? I have been dieting, but I have not seen results. I've realized that I have not been getting enough calories, so I am going to start eating more. I need a good meal-to-meal list of how much and what I should consume. I am 17, 5'7' and about 140 pounds. I do two 1 hour yoga classes a week and I have track and field practice 5 times a week( track exercise includes strength training and sprints). Your help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
Answer: Generally the most recommended approach is to eat more frequent, smaller meals and to replace your "bad" carbs (sugary and starchy) with "good" carbs (more fiber) that are lower in glycemic index.
The diet plan in the link belows describes a diet where you use beans and green vegatables as your carb sources. Beans are good carbs that are filling and nutritious.

Question: What do you think is a well-balanced diet when you have your meal? I study about foods and health in University. So i want to know your view of health and foods.
Do you take a vitamin supplement? Why do you take it?
Answer: 50% Vegetables. 30% Protein. 20% Grains (Pasta, Bread)
Good luck!
Question: Can an average guy who works out regular, eats a well balanced diet tone out good? without all that protein shakes and stuff? I think i eat plenty of it as it is but i am not gonna eat 5 or 6 small meals a day and stuff, who has time for that?
Answer: If you don't have time for the every two hour plan, I would suggest for you to do the following. Eat right as you get up a banana or something a bowl of whole grain cereal with soy milk or 2% milk. When you get a chance snack on a hand full of peanuts, soy nuts or raisins. At lunch eat a protein base sandwich or salad. Again snack on a hand full of something between lunch and dinner. Eat a healthy dinner but only one helping. Eat a snack right before going to bed. Drink plenty of water. This should do the trick. It seems like a lot but really it's pretty much what everyone does on a daily basis. Just make healthy food choices.
Question: What would be a well-balanced diet for a 13-year old? I am not overweight but can stand to lose a few pounds particularly in the buttocks area. I know I eat to many calories, sugar, and carbs, but I dont know how to cut them down or even how much to eat of anything! Plus, I dont know which foods contain what in them. I hardly eat fast-food but have a huge sweet tooth, particularly for chocolate. I know I shouldnt be eating so much, but I dont know what to eat. Please help!
I cant talk to my parents cuz my moms always working and my dad lives in another state. Plus, if my siblings found out, I would have to hide in my bed for the whole day.
and how many calories should i eat?
Answer: Eating right is not easy in the American culture. You need to retrain your tastebuds and get away from all the flavor enhanced prepackaged garbage you can buy for cheap everywhere. A well-ballance diet for you is the same as a well-balanced diet for any age.
6 complete meals/day. Complete proteins, LOTS of veggies, avoid complex carbs and highly processes foods. If it is fresh, it is probably pretty healthy. There is no easy fix for a "sweet tooth." Try exercising some self-control and tell yourself you CAN do it. That chocolate bar ain't your friend. You need to take a new outlook on food. Use it for fuel, not for pleasure and you will be taking the first step down a road towards a healthier lifestyle. Can you indulge at times...yes, but try once a week, not the American once a day or all the time attitude.
Question: How does having a well balanced diet and exercise prevent Cardiovascular Disease?
Answer: cause your staying healthy and getting your heart rate up
Question: Why does meeting nutrients through eating a well-balanced diet healthier than relying on supplements? does phytochemiclas and fiber have anything to do with it?
Answer: Beginning with the Geritol iron poisonings cover ups allowed by the Geritol's FDA people in the 50's, we all should consider that mineral supplements are super toxic to everyone's liver. Simply because all these highly 'profitable' mineral supplements are all 'metallic' minerals; and are most oftentimes simply the same as plant fertilizers, which have not yet been converted via photosynthesis into a plant. Synthetic vitamin supplements are also more toxic in the long term than beneficial to any animal. The good studies are non existent since it takes a little money to do them, and money and lawyers can easily silence good researchers. Sigh.
One 'quick' reference FROM quotes:
"Since then, supplemental iron products, including Geritol, have been contraindicated, (i.e is now inadvisable), because of concerns over hemochromatosis,[6][7] and serious questions raised in studies for men, postmenopausal women, and nonanemic patients with liver disease, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, or cancer.[8][9]"
IF you want to know how much this stuff costs before repackaging and selling it as a supplement pill, which all supplements are essentially unregulated by the FDA, just look at a bag of iron fertilizer, or in a much larger bulk the article below says it would cost about $6 per pound; while the iron in a $5.94 bottle of Geritol costs about $6,237 per pound - after using ammonia to convert it to iron ferric ammonium citrate. That is a 100,000% markup on a snake oil scam eh?. Hey, I thought ammonia was ALWAYS poisonous too.
QUOTE: "The total cost of the acidic FeSO4 [36.762% by mass Fe] solution containing a half-ton of iron used by IronEx-II came to $6,000."
FROM: The Geritol Effect - 10/21/96 - by Eric Mankin
Adding trace quantities of iron makes ocean 'deserts' bloom ...
Question: On adverage how much does it cost to feed a family a well-balanced diet? How does the government come up with an amount when they determine how much a family should spend for food? How does this impact social policy?
Answer: The amount of money you need for have a living highly depends on the location you're living. In Munich/Germany you can live quite well for ca. 200 EUR per month for buying food. That fits quite well with the money you receive from the state if you don't have any work (Hartz IV). Its ca. 370 EUR per month with that you have to buy things to eat, wear, etc. The rent for the flat and things like medical insurance is payed by the state directly and not by the people.
Question: How many grams of sugar should an adult have in the average day as part of a well balanced diet? i am 5'2" tall and weigh 130 lbs i want to know how much sugar i should allow myself in a day.
Answer: 4 grams (1 teaspoon) of regular granulated white sugar is a serving. The food pyramid says use this sparingly. I say no more than one or two servings a day. Do not worry about the sugar naturally found in fruits, carbs, or veggies. These are good. Just eat they right amount for you. Eat to feel full not stuffed. Water should wash away that little amount of refined sugar.
Question: what are the healthiest foods to maintain a well-balanced diet? I am looking for a lifestyle change so I have included the following in my diet. Please add to my list as well as the benefits to your diet:
*Flaxseed for all it's benefits
*Oatmeal for the fiber
*Plain low-fat yogurt for the cultures
*6-8 glasses of water
*more white meat and fish less read meat
*blueberries for anti-oxidants
*wheat germ for the vitamin E
*seeds/nuts for protein
Answer: Taking too much fibrous food will have a laxative effect on you. Don't worry if you don't know every item in the diet-must-have list. Being in a happy & calm state of mind helps you to diet better because then your body responds to the said diet. Take your cue from the Food Pyramid, control your portions and have a good exercise.
Question: What is the food pyramid and how can it be used to organize a well balanced diet?
Answer: Check out this link...hope it helps!
Question: What would be a well balanced diet? I want to have a balanced diet but i dont know how! So that's why i'm asking on here. My question is what can i eat at breakfast, lunch, evening meal and snacks that are part of a well balanced diet?
im 15
has to be lunch that i can eat at school

Answer: You definitely need food from all the different food groups. For breakfast eat healthy cereals none of the ones with the sugar. Or oatmeal, have a cup of green tea =) For lunch eat a sandwich and a granola bar if you like them. For dinner have a small portion of meat, rice and veggies. For snacks try to eat more fruits.
